#birthday
It's Caitlyn's birthday! Or as she calls it "Eviction Day." :D

(Meanwhile, I am bummed that she spent yesterday with Tom. We missed the "Anniversary of the Day I Changed my Mind." I was being induced the next morning and decided that nope, no way, not a chance, I changed my mind, I did NOT want another baby. We usually toast to that and laugh at my ridiculousness. haha)

She asked for vegetarian pot pie- basically chicken pot pie but only veggies- for dinner. She loooves anything with pie crust so I made up a double batch of pie dough yesterday and whatever isn't used for the pot pie I will sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and butter and roll them up. My grandma called them rollie-pollies, and always made them with the pie crust scraps. I baked two choc cake layers yesterday and going to make edible cookie dough cake filling/frosting for it. (do you see a theme with her? LOL!)
In between the baking/cooking today, I have to pick up groceries - drat, I just remembered I need to go inside and get Rxs for Gary too. Blergh. That means I need to get dressed and brush my hair instead of throwing a hat on :D I am cleaning for my friend this afternoon. Lots of things to do today.

Scott has a *big* job interview today. It is with the County Parks Dept- where he is working now as a Park Ranger- but for a FT Naturalist position. It is the job he was hoping to get last year but the funding for it fell through. The funding was approved for this upcoming fiscal year soooo-- *fingers and toes crossed that he gets it.* It would be huge, FT salary and benefits. pleasepleaseplease!!

Wishing everyone a terrific day!!!

@LSlycord what color mum did you end up getting? I am sure they look wonderful! Sending good exam vibes for both of your kids.
I don't blame you one bit about wanting Syd to get an Uber. My friend's DD was at UMass Amherst and that was similar for her too. It is nerve-wracking for moms. I hope she took you up on the offer for your sake as well as hers.
When you go to the Fountain of Youth, bring some of that magic potion for me too hah!!!
She asked what "fine" meant. I said a C. I think that made her mad. LOL
I know that observation too! Our DDs are a lot alike :D
No idea about the time frame for the advisor position, the hiring committee was "officially" convened last week. Her contract was extended again, this time until the new hire is placed. Half of the semester will be over by then and they will be getting ready for scheduling for Winter Semester. There is no way they should put someone new in there. Right???
(I know you agree with me, I just need to vent about it)

@BrightEyes ugh about waking up and not being able to get back to sleep. I am now in the habit of waking up around 1 am to go to the bathroom and struggling to get back to sleep. I hate it. Hopefully, you slept through the night last night.
Whew about getting your bills paid locally,

@bcgal00 sending good thoughts about the ENT appt yesterday. It's really good to hear that you have been able to get out of the house every day!

@Cherylndesigns Whatever the weed is, it sounds annoying as heck. We have some invasive vines here that no matter how much you pull them up, they never die. They have woody stems and run deep in the soil. These are all of the poison ivy types we also have, which is a different problem for next spring. Good luck digging them out. What it trie to do to get root balls out is to clip the roots extending around the ball with pruners. I will keep "rocking" the root ball, clip the roots, pull it away, and repeat that until I get it out. Then hope for the best :/

Million dollar question:
Why is it that weeds grow like that and so many of my other things died?????
Mmmm-hmmm
*nods*

Hope that everyone is doing good!

Good morning. Woke up to 70* temps. That feels so good. We are supposed to hit 90* this afternoon but by the weekend it goes to highs in the 80's and we aren't predicted to hit 90 again this year! YAY!

Syd made it home from the exam at 10:30. There was someone from her dorm that she recognized and she asked if she could walk back to the dorm with him. He had ridden his bicycle but he said that he could push it back while they walked. I was proud of her for that. And she also had her Uber app downloaded and ready to go if she needed it. I still think that the school should do a better job with the logistics but I guess she figures it out and has the good sense to stay safe.

@faerywings I do see some real strong similarities between Cait and Syd. Glad that you didn't stick with your decision from the Day that you Changed Your Mind. I love that story! And my fingers are crossed for Scott. He sure deserves a full time job with benefits. I got a yellow mum and a pinkish/lavender mum. They are going into big white pots. My pool area is actually starting to have some decent flowers, now that we have made it to fall. And hoping that they have enough sense to keep Cait. It wouldn't be fair to Cait...and it wouldn't be fair to the students...to put a new person in just as it's time to figure out the new semester of classes. Good grief!

@BrightEyes hope last night's sleep was good. I hate not sleeping well. It starts a cycle...and I just hate it. Sounds like the new home store is going to be a fun place to have nearby.

@bcgal00 I sure hope that the ENT was able to give you some answers...good timing on the appointment if you are having some pain! Love that you are getting out and about and building up strength!

@Cherylndesigns oh my goodness. That weed sounds awful! How I hate it when a project turns out to be so much more than expected. But I bet Roger has something that will take care of it!

Ok ladies...going to go finish that layout that I've been talking about for two days! Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. I went to the ENT yesterday and he didn't waste any time. He marked my scan request as urgent and took 2 biopsy samples which were soooo painful and also the nose/throat scope was painful. What urgent means here in Kamloops is questionable but he hopes to get biopsy results within the next 10 days or so and hopes that I get a call about the scan within the same time frame. He is quite concerned as the node has started growing again, is hot and extremely painful. He said that I will need to get into surgery for it. I was miserable with pain yesterday and spent a lot of time lying down with a heated bean bag over the neck. Naproxen and Tylenol take the edge off but the pain doesn't let up...ugh. It seems to be one thing after another since we moved (health-wise).

On a happier note, my 10-20 mm lens came so it'll be fun to get out and get landscape photos with it.

Our coffee maker decided to break down yesterday when I got back from the appt so later in the afternoon we went out to costco but they only had one coffee maker and it wasn't one we wanted so we went to Canadian Tire and found one we liked, got home, tried to get it working with no luck and had to return it but we were able to go to the other location closer to us to return it and they had the newer model of the coffee maker we had before so got that one. We cannot go without coffee so that was considered a level 10 emergency :) It blows my mind that there was so limited a selection. I don't know what it's like elsewhere but all stores here are spotty for product. Many items are no longer stocked and shelves are empty here and there. It shocked me that Costco had decreased their products so much.

Today I will stay home (aside from going to the dog park) and get a few chores done. I'll be putting a pork roast in the oven later.

@faerywings Happy b-day to C. You sure were busy in the kitchen! I hope S gets the job, sending prayers and positive thoughts his way.

@LSlycord 70's sounds better than the 90's. I enjoyed some really hot summer days which made pool time fun but now I'm ready for cooler temps. We are around 70ish during mid day now and I like it, also makes it better for the dogs.

I'm getting more coffee and getting out in the yard to feed the birds now.

Happy birthday to Cait!!! Hope it's a wonderful day! Loved your story about changing your mind, Chris. I kind of did the same thing with Steph. At the last minute, I said "I can't do this again!" Like we had a choice, huh???

I'll be back for personals in a bit. My Malware pop up is driving me crazy and I can't even see what I'm typing. Some website/s are trying desperately to enter my computer - it's blocking them like a soldier. I'm glad, but it's sure interferring with my typing.

The morning has flown by already!! Yes, I did get an undisturbed sleep last night... 10 PM until 7AM. So glad as I have been scrapping since 8AM. Still have at least one more layout to get done today before calling it quits for the day.

All the kids are home safe from their travels thank goodness. DD#1 and family flew home yesterday. DSon#1 and wife ended up driving most the night to make it back to their home. She works the nightshift and has to be at work tonight. Always glad when the family is back and traveling is over for them. Need to make a run to the base tomorrow to pick up Rx and will do some grocery shopping at the commissary.

@faerywings - give Cait a big Happy Birthday hug from me. You are such a good mommy to cook all of Cait's favorite foods. Sure hope the PTB hire her for the job she is doing. Sending good wishes that Scott gets his 'dream job'.

@bcgal00 Oh, NO!!! So sorry to hear the news about the swelling in your neck!! Will hope that they can get the results of of biopsy quickly and get whatever surgery done ASAP!!!

@Cherylndesigns Hope you can get the malware pop-ups gone!!! Crazy!!!

@LSlycord Good luck on getting the page done! Glad to hear that DD was smart and had someone to walk with her back to the dorm after the test. Hope you are feeling better.

Got to get some lunch and get back to scrapping.

ETA: Just got a notice from the local library that 2 of the 4 books I put on hold are ready for pick-up and another 1 is in transit - should be ready by tomorrow!!! Guess I will be going there tomorrow, too!!! #clap

I'm back. JUST got my computer back from the mess it got in. Something was really trying to attack it. My malware was literally doing battle with some malicious websites. That's why I pay for it! I finally had to completely shut the computer down for awhile and let it rest. Before that, I couldn't get on here - it didn't recognize me - SO frustrating. I was starting to panic - but I walked away.

Chris @faerywings good for Scott - that sounds good! What you suggested about removing the big rootballs is exactly what I've been doing - stomping, breaking, pruning, repeat. Linda @LSlycord I'm sure Roger has something if all else fails. I'm hoping we'll get a big, soaking rain and then it will come out easier. Your mums sound beautiful.

Rae, your trip to the ENT sounds painful and the wait will be, too. Sorry about the coffeepot.

Well, I'm getting off here again - in the meantime, I got a good walk in on my treadmill.

XOXO

Kay, it was making me crazy!! My malware was actually doing battle with malicious websites. Geesh!! It's always something. Then my computer was messed up and I started to panic that one of them got through. i finally shut it down and left it off for about half an hour. It SEEMS to be ok - I lost my misspelling/correction however - it shows that a word is misspelled, but gives me no options. I've gotten so spoiled with that.

Glad you got an uninterrupted night's sleep.

Hi! I've been a bit absent as I've been working on stuff ahead of the upcoming sale AND travelling about a bit AND spending way too much time organising home exchanges for our summer (building up points for a 'free' trip to Europe next year ... when DH has to travel for work, I go with him and have someone using our apartment). Oh, and spending days doing a spring clean so that its nice for people. Determined this time to keep it pristine ... let's see how that goes, shall we? :p

Right now I am in an alpine resort town with DH where he is at a conference. It's absurdly scenic but still a little colder than I packed for!

@faerywings Happy Birthday to Cait! And hoping the job works out for Scott - sounds amazing :)
@bcgal00 hope you are feeling a little better, that sounds miserable :-( Hate those patches when it's one thing after another healthwise.
@BrightEyes you sound like me, I am forever getting notifications that books are ready to be collected :) We used to have to pay for reserves but since an earthquake took out the main library a few years ago they have been free from the smaller libraries scattered around the city in various formerly empty shops and I have got into the habit of ordering several from my wishlist at a go. Trouble is, it's feast or famine (ie they all land at once!)
@Cherylndesigns sorry about the computer woes, sounds frustrating AND a bit scary.
