The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
woo hoo for Wednesday! Trying hard to be happy and positive. I had a successful day shopping for Cait's b-day present yesterday, but came home to a very depressed DS. He's been struggling since school started and I don't know how to help him. And it is so difficult to separate what is Lyme and what is "typical teen." We had a long talk yesterday, which I am grateful we can do, but OTOH it is so damn hard for me to not be able to help him. It breaks my heart, ya know? If any of you more experienced moms have advice -- hit me up!

Today is supposed to be nice, and I plan on heading our in the yard to start fall clean up. boooooo.

But it needs to get done, and I have to do something about the bugs. Laurie I was thinking of you- NJ is having a huge mosquito outbreak due to all of the rain and standing water. Between the mosquitoes, and the black flies-- and I am hearing ticks are having a huge resurgence too-- I am going to get a Hazmat suit on LOL

In case you didn't know.... NJ State bird.....

haha!!

WWW:
I wish I could help Scott.... and cait for that matter.... be happy
I want to spend less than $100 at Shop Rite today (ugh!!)
I wish my yard would be bug free!

Personals bottom up today!

Terra- How was dinner with the Graces? I love that idea. I used to go to lunch with my mom and my grandma when I was in HS and it was a fab tradition. Cait likes to come to lunch with my and my mom so its passing along.
bet you have a lot of fun!

jean- You should post about some of your genealogy finds- I think that is fascinating. Hope you were able to enjoy the sun.

Maureen, what book did you snag? I wish I could walk to my library- I think I would live there :)

Checking in on the ironing question: I hate to iron and rarely ever iron anything for my family. It helps that we are all t-shirts and jeans people. But I can and do iron for my MIL as part of my job and I don't have a problem with that. She has a really good iron- which really makes a huge difference believe it or not- and I plug into some podcasts and I can iron for hours LOL

Phyllis- love the "procrastination" shell term too!

Sally- wow, that was some list! But I am used to it with you. heheh!!! Hope you got gobs done so you can get back to partying today.

Trudy- hugs and loves back atacha!!!!

Clara-- don't be shy-- vent away! (You know I am just teasing you- if not for the Ooos giving me a place to vent I would go :boom: )
I hope that there can be some resolution for you with the rent manager.

oh Amber-- so with ya in the PS (procrast. shell)..... Hang in there! No, stay in there with me. No, I mean-- get going and get your stuff done. No , I mean Don't leave ME!!!

Phyllis- hope your painting went easy for you. And for me-- I;d rather paint than iron.

Laurie- my lamp was expensive, but work every penny. Was work any better for you yesterday?

Better run, since I am late again... Darn kids and school..... ;)

Morning Chris- today is my firstborn's birthday! Have I bought him a gift-no- he is so hard to buy for. He lives in DC, so I will have to get his gift together when I shop tomorrow and mail it out to him. We have a picnic at work today- but the theme is bring your money, bring your money- it is a combo- thanks for working here and united way kick off- or maybe it is just the united way kick off- either way, I d do not need to bring my lunch! My foot has started to hurt again- wonder if it will still hurt when I go to the drs tomorrow- either way I will let her know.

My wish- that it was 6pm!
Have wonderful days everyone-

hi, guys. can you believe i'm STILL painting?? i had to wait for my husband to come home to move the bookshelves that were too heavy for me to budge. finishing the *&^% room is my afternoon agenda today. have an apt. with a new rheumatologist this a.m. my old one blew my mind when i read in the paper that he had been arrested for "inappropriate contact" with a ton of his patients! well, not me. guess i'm too old for that sort of thing, but it completely floored me. this guy was one of my favorite doctors. how do you MISS something like this in a person? i went to that guy for 20 years. he completely fooled me.

my new rheumie is a lady....

have a great day! don't paint anything!

Chris. PLEASE don't say the words "start the fall cleanup...." the combination of fall coming and the amount of work waiting for me in the yard makes me want to cry!

good luck with the mosquitos. you need to make a page about it. Anna has an ArtPlay called "Sting and Bite" that would be PERFECT!

Morning all!
Just doing odds and ends of catch up and clean up round the house today. I do have to return some dining room slipcovers to Target. I got them in August and never tested them til today. Yep, too small. So I am finally getting them back and out of the dining room. At least I have a few other things to get at Target. I hate one item trips to a store even if it is only 3 miles away. I'm also returning a pair of linen pants I got at J. Jill which is right by Target. I got them for the FL trip in case it was steamy hot down there and now I don't need them since the trip fizzled out. Thank you tropical storm!

Phylis: both Dick and I hate painting. I'm glad there isn't any on our horizon now but even if it were, getting the place ready for a painter is a pita. Don't inhale! lol

Chris: I pray for the first frost! mama spider and I are having a battle of wills outside my deck door. She wants to catch my face in her web each morning, but I have the broom ready now! I have what I call mutant weeds - bamboo that interbred with something else - that appears in places all over my side yard. Deal with it on a regular or daily basis, and it's easy to pull out. Go on vacation, and it's a hard yank. Guess which state it's in now... :frusty:

I only know one man who's had lyme disease and it's really been a struggle for him. I'm so sorry it's one of your children who has to deal with this.

Well...chores are whistling my name! cya

Chris. the Lyme thing just sank in. i have something not unlike that, and have discovered that the trick to coping is mostly mental. if this is at the bottom of his mood, try to get him a great Cognitive therapist. (sometimes called Cognitive/Behavioral therapist.) if you can't change THE THING, you have to change the way you THINK about THE Thing. that's what Cognitive Therapists do. it has nothing to do with being crazy. it has to do with getting your attitude and thought processes ina track that will let you get on with things in a more positive way. and then tell him that Darryl Hall (of Hall and Oates has Lyme, and he is still rocking and having a great time, and he's older than i am. good luck. "chronic" tends to eat away at a soul, if you allow it to, as you know. sorry if i'm preaching.

Good Morning All.....will be getting ready for work in a minute....urghhhhh....I would rather play ;>)

Chris, if I remember right you suffer with LYME disease also? How are you doing with that?

Maureen-I'm like you hate to go to the store for just one item.

Morning "O" ladies... off to work again and like you Frani I would much rather be here playing!!

Chris - Love your state bird t-shirt! Sorry that your DS is struggling, perhaps Phylis is right and you should see a cognitive therapist? It is so hard to watch them struggle and you feel so helpless! Teenage years really suck!!

Phylis - you should call my hubby, he loves to paint, since we have moved into this house he has painted every single room in it and has done the trim on the outside too. Now he wants to change the color of the livingroom again!! I think he's :loco: I hate painting!!

Maureen - I wish we had target up here in Canada! Have fun returning, perhaps you will find a few other things that catch your eye!

Laurie - Ouch that your foot hurts you again, hope the dr. can help you out!

Frani - Lets hope that the work day goes by quickly and we can come back and play!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone

Oh thanks everyone! I love having everyone's support, esp. when I feel like I am at wit's end.

Yes- i have Lyme too, as does my DD, and MMG is disabled from it. Scott saw a cognitive therapist in 7th and 8th grade, but that got into a very bad situation with a p-doc in the group who wanted to report me to DYFS and all that.
DS did see a Lyme specialist p-doc last year and we think we are going to try to get either a visit or a phone consult. he is far from us (about 2+ hours) and is expensive- doesn't take insurance like most Lyme docs. But I might have no choice.

Phyllis -- so NOT preaching! It is really hard to be chronic, especially with all 4 of us suffering. Do you have fibro, if you don't mind me asking?

Frani- i am actually doing pretty good, thanks so much for checking in :) I have been off my abx for 2 months now. I still have some cognitive issues and fatigue, but so far so good with my joints. *knocks wood over and over and over*

I am just finishing up another (hopefully my last!) cup if coffee, and then I have to get out in the yard. Maureen- I'd come to your house gladly to do yard work, and I can relocate your Mama Spider to come and stay with Scott. He loves bugs. And snakes. And frogs....

xoxo!

Chris. yup. fibro.20 years of it, annoying little creep that it is. i've chosen to ignore it.:lalala:

i can do that as a ONE, but you've got so much more going on around you that i'm sure my approach would be tough for you, especially since it's going on with your kids, too. when bad things happen to my kids, it just flattens me. my hat is off to you. and i'm going to negotiate a little bow in your direction, too. your strength is impressive.

Evening all - work is whooping my butt this week, and just found out there will be many licensed staff off on Monday- the rule is 3- and I have been denied time because of it, but there will be 5 on monday-my inner child says that sucks- lets call off! Tomorrow is so many errands out of the house and thursday is my regenerate day- so I will be off kilter until next thursday- or maybe not. mr. gorgeous said to cancel dance and the way my foot feels, that is fine. Off to eat dinner and it is so relaxing to read this and shift from work to home when I get home!

Just back to check in and see whassup.

Chris, am I understanding you that three people in your home have Lyme disease? that's really awful. I'm not sure what MMG is but that sounds like...a 4th person? The library book I got is "Don't let's go to the dogs tonight : an African childhood", starting it tonight! The other one I'm now reading is "The Avengers", a WWII true story of Jewish Lithuanian partisans. Both my maternal grandparents were Lithuanian so I'm going to have to read it with an atlas. DH read it and the lack of maps bugged him.

Phylis, you have the attitude of a saint, cept I know you're a downright human woman. Attitude is all.

Keep me in your thoughts for patience tomorrow! I have three sets of people coming to the house to do work, and really all I want is peace and quiet. I know that sounds likes spoiled bitching and it is but still, there aren't many weeks I have to myself round here and I want each minute! Now that I've said it out loud, maybe I can go to bed and wake up like a grateful woman with more of Phylis' attitude. Night all!

...don't let me fool you, Maureen....

and what you DOING having people coming in to do work when this is supposed to be Maureen Time with hubby gone for a bit? whatever you do, don't let the drill holes in your walls, or, like me, you'll be painting and patching and bitching for a week! my Zen attitude went right out the window with THAT adventure.
