Day Three of dreary. But today, I am grateful for it. My back/hip are spasming so I am off my feet. Could you imagine how cranky I would be if it were a beautiful day to be outside? It makes it much easier to sit and see nothing but grey skies. Small favors.

It started acting up on Monday when I was folding laundry. See, this is why we should never do housework, right @tanteva? It was better in the morning so I went food shopping, unpacked all of the groceries. It wasn't until I took out the vacuum to get the acini de pepe off the floor that fell out of the box as I was putting it away that it started to twinge. Soon after, I realized that I was having a hard time standing on it so here I am. On my butt that keeps falling asleep. I had to cancel cleaning for my 1 friend and might need to reschedule my cleaning tomorrow to Friday.

On a good note, I spent the afternoon scrapping a really (IMHO!) cool and spooky page and Vera gave it a Standing O. I didn't feel like I was rushing through it so I took a lot of time with it, messed around with lots of layer effects/blending/brushwork.
Today is going to be another "on my butt" day.

Hugs to all of you!

Who remembers diagramming sentences in school Anyone want to give it a shot with that one?? bwahaha!!

@tanteva I can 100% understand how easy it is to get addicted to "likes"
It had to be satisfying that you felt nothing when FB went down, knowing that you did a good thing limiting any SocMed exposure.
For me, I think scrapping and posting LOs is a bit different because it takes time and energy to create a page. It's more intense and intentional than sharing memes or snapshots (not including photography -- that is also intense work). You wouldn't write a book or paint something and not want to show it off and read reviews.
Or maybe I am overthinking it.
Did Tony resist going to therapy? I would love to see how he broke out of the "macho" role many Italian men buy into.
"tray food" (*G*) sounds like a good way to get rid of leftovers, what did you end up making?

@taxed4ever I guess is you have to skip a hike, that one is a good one to miss.
Will it help if I remind you to not stress over Thanksgiving? You always have everything perfect. Not to mention, everyone is going to be so happy to be together this year. The vibe at my house was 100% joy with seeing everyone and catching up.
MIL doesn't drive either, right? What will they do?
And how is Hunter feeling, poor guy!

Kay- for real, we ned out smilies back. Admin-Trudy, any idea if that is happening? I will help if that is something I can work on.
The hall closet is not getting cleaned any time soon. It is built under the stairs so I will have to crawl all the way back to get everything out.
Do not hurt yourself looking for decorations!

@Cherylndesigns *waves hi*

@felis yay for free days
Hahaha!! Sorry for breaking IG. But I did get to see your photos so it was worth it, to me at least LOL
That was also part of the conversation not just that WhatsApp is free but that it is useful for people like you said, multi-lingual, as well as people who are connected to others who aren't literate or have limited reading skills. It was actually more eye-opening to me since I tend to forget that I do come from a place of privilege. Americans tend (generally speaking) to forget about people in developing nations or we hold biased views of them when we do remember.
yes, Gary has Scottish, Irish, English, and French ancestry. me-- Straight up Italian. You remembered perfectly!
Speaking of shipping, I walked past a row full of bags of candy corn and wished that it wouldn't cost $200 and take 2 years to get to Eva or I would have shipped some to her. :p

@scrap-genie LOVE IT!!!!

Eva- Hey now, is this OK?? @mywisecrafts I am not sure about this, my VP Polling only did head to head polls :D

*googling acini de pepe*
Did you find it?
It is little tiny pasta "dots" usually put into soup.

ETA: My fam pronounces it ah gin ee babe
other dialects will use softer consonants and has more of a P sound than a B
This is similar to broccoli rabe - some say "ra-puh" we say Rob. My fam's dialect also switches C with G ie: cannolis is "gah-nules"

One of my biggest regrets is that my g-parents did not teach my parents how to speak Italian. They used it when they didn't want anyone else to understand, although eventually, my mom could understand but not speak. Now it is lost.

So ... your family has some sort of speech impediment? ;) LOL

Joking aside, I love to hear about this. One of the things I'm fascinated with when it comes to Sopranos, is how they speak. Very interesting dialect. I can totally understand that you regret not knowing Italian. It's a sad thing, that by wanting to fit into the new world, they felt the need to hide their roots in a way. Same thing happens all over the world. Like here in my hometown, they have this special dialect (almost a language of it's own) that was spoken in the old days. My father didn't really learn Swedish until he started school, and then we're only back at the early 40's. I'm no linguist, but I guess this is similar to what the vikings spoke. I do understand some of it, but since my mom was of "finer" family, she never learned it, and hence we never spoke it at home. Dad spoke it with his family and my mother's father (who was not as "fine" as his wife). It was frowned upon, and seen as simple. Now it's almost dead, and people are trying to save it. Sad really.

Oh and that acini de pepe - we have that too. Not sure what it's called though. Gotta check next time at the store. Not a fan. It's a texture thing. Not a fan of couscous for the same reason.

Ok - working tomorrow. All day. Then Friday & Saturday I will plan and pack for our trip and we're leaving early Sunday morning. It's a 6 hr drive. I'm a bit silly worrying about John being home alone. Stupid, I know - he's an adult. When I was his age, I met Urban. AND had been living away from home for 6 years already LOL. I had another boyfriend that I lived with from when I was about 17 til I was 22 ... or something like that. Now I'm going to leave my 23 yo son alone home with the cats, and worry. Get a grip, woman! LOL

I am being good... the box of fall decorations must be in the attic as it is not in the garage. NO CLIMBING INTO THE ATTIC to get the box for me!!!! Ever since my BFF took a header off her attic stairs, I am very leery of going up into the attic. I have a gift card from Hobby Lobby (craft store) so may go pick up some fall decorations from there. See "Momma Chris", I am behaving and being smart. Besides the decorations in it are several years old... so time to get some new ones. ;) Need to that done ASAP as the lunch is on Monday.

@faerywings - so sorry your back is giving you fits right now. Yep... using the vacuum is one quick way to bring on back spasms for me. Hope a day or so of rest will do the trick. Had to LOL over "diagramming that sentence"... don't know that the schools teach diagramming any more. What a shame that the grandparents didn't teach your parents their native language. Guess it is a good thing that is dreary so you won't fret over staying inside as you recover.

@tanteva - got a huge chuckle over you fretting about leaving your 23 year old son home alone!!! Guess the mama-gene is always strong and we worry about our kids no matter their age. I can just see him rolling his eyes if he knew you were worried about him.

@taxed4ever - you are so organized so know that the big get-together will be wonderful. Sorry to hear about FiL's driving but glad he is wise enough to not attempt to drive at night. It is always sad when age/health means it is time to give up driving.

@Cherylndesigns - hope you are being good and not over-doing it.

Off to get dressed and get the laundry sorted. Have a great day, all.

Morning everyone... well wouldn't you know it the weather man was wrong again and the sun is out and its a beautiful morning. I could have gone on my hike . Oh well tons of other things to get done today and I will get out for a nice long walk in the neighbourhood. DH washed and vacuumed out the car on Sunday so he will be happy that I am not out on the muddy gravel road to get to the hike spot LOL. I got my parcel out in the mail before noon yesterday, so that made me happy! I started working on another porch sign for my Daughter-In-Law Jackie for Christmas, but got a phone call from our son last night saying that they could possibly be here for Christmas! :D This would make me so happy!! But do I mail this and the gifts for the rest of the family or do I wait to see if they will actually be here?? I don't want to miss out on the free shipping, Oh what to do??? I am going to have a quick coffee visit with my sister today, its her day off and I haven't seen her for ages. Have to pop into Walmart and Winners today also. Sheesh I better get my act together and get going soon!

@faerywings - Chris, sorry that you are having such dull weather! I really thought today would be the same here, but the weather man has been wrong so many times this year! I have no idea if the smileys are in the works, but will research to see if there is a way to add some. Not sure I have the power to do that or not LOL. Sure hope your back feels better soon! Take care of you!

Kay - I am so proud of you for not going into that attic!! It will be fun to pick out some new Fall decorations! Your house will be all ready for the big lunch date! Glad that you are feeling well enough to get out today and yes it is very sad that FIL will not be able to drive much longer. Especially hard on him as he was a school bus driver for many years and was always proud of that job! MIL can't drive anymore either, so it will be interesting to see what we will have to do so that they get to where they need too.

@tanteva - Eva, of course you will worry about your son being alone, its what we do LOL. I don't think that ever will change no matter what age our kids are. Try to enjoy your lovely getaway, your son and the cats will be just fine.

Ok I need my second cup of coffee and then I hope to get out of here very soon. I would like to get my page finished today for one of the challenges. This one is for @felis so she can see my front porch decorations LOL. Hope it doesn't take me most of the day, I have too many other things to get off my to do list!

Hello girls!
I needs more days like this! It was gloomy so I spend the morning talking with my sister. Then afternoon I was clear up the bushes at my garden. Some of them have to be cut off for the winter, so that was my task for today. And now I plan to crochet. Really good day, almost perfect.

Eva, trip for two of you sounds lovely! I wasn't understand that your son live with you, my bad, sorry! Congratulations for the GSO, this is so cool, and also so well deserved!

Chris, even I feel sorry that I don't know Italian as I love Angelica's music so much! That is how I'm remembered that you have italian roots, and of course the Irish part at Gary is because of my love to the Irish actor Colin Morgan. Associations have strange way sometimes. :) When you speak about pronunciation and dialects, I'm start to notice that I can't speak to someone without using darling or dear, multiple times, and also in other cases way too often say the word with F , as none of these is in my dictionary when I use my native language. I think I'm too influenced by british's songs lyric.
So sorry to hear that you're not feeling well, hope it's not for long!

Kay, I hope that you'll find new decoration that to like!

Trudy, thank you for thinking of me! Oh I adore how you decorate outside, so yes, I'm always curious about that, we don't do that here. I was wondering about Hunter too, how he is feeling now? I'm so happy for you, if you have a chance to have a family Christmas! But then if you miss the free shipping it will be awful! Can you send the gifts and if have need they will bring it back with them? Or they will can open them early. Oh, and kindly reminder for you that you still don't have a donkey for your Christmas Nativity scene, lol. :D:D;)
Have fun with your sister today!

Hello my lovelies.

Kay @BrightEyes I'm SO proud of you for not going up into the attic! Chris @faerywings might have to give you a - picture this - a *cyber slap upside the head*!!! LMBO I'm being good, too. Went to the ortho today and they think that if I come back one more time - 3 weeks and another xray that they'll "turn me loose". They told me to start using my arm a little bit more, but NOT to overdo it. Wait til next time, he said. They'll know how to proceed after the next xray. I was certainly lucky that I didn't do anymore damage to it than I did!

I'm hoping to be able to type more - I hope it gets easier - without the pain. They told me to wear the harness (if I felt like it helped and it does) and the sling is optional. Good news.

Chris @faerywings I'm sorry to hear about your back. And yes it's easier if the weather is gloomy and you can't go out anyway. How is Gary coming along with his Halloween Show??? I'm sure he's a busy bee right now.

Eva @tanteva HUGE congrats on your GSO!!! That's a real milestone considering that you haven't been at this very long. I'm so thrilled for you!! I'm joining the staff there (well, I'm already on staff, but haven't posted yet). I'm going to have fun trolling the galleries for layouts to feature, like yours!

Felis @felis sounds like a wonderful day for you. Thanks for insisting that I finally let Sam outside. He's been a different cat - he's SO much happier and that was all he wanted - to be able to go outside. My granddaughter has two outside cats and Sam goes up to her house and plays with her two.

Trudy @taxed4ever hope Hunter is doing okay. My ear has been so much better since then drained it - it's practically back to normal.

Well, we've been gone almost all day again today, so I'd better see what else I can do. I have a LO to post, but have to round up all of the credits first.

Waving to all.

:DI hope that you are heard me also when I said that indoor cats have longer life. And also some cats turns to be hunters if their mothers were homeless cats or people are give them close to raw meat as ham and salami, so they have thirst for flesh.

That's are two facts about which I just don't care, as the life is what it is, mother Nature is structured them at this way and I just follow the old paths.
(Although I'm trying to prevent hunting by using collars with bell, and still unfortunately too often I receive ''gifts''. In my defense it is happened they to hunt even if they live indoor, in the moment when they have ''guest'', ask Chris).

After all, cats are not meant to be home prisoners, this is something new from the last few decades.

Interesting facts, for sure. I just want a happy cat and he's so much happier now.

good evening - sorry for absence. I went and got my Covid booster, Flu shot and tetanus shot. I had sore arms the first day and then a headache and really tired the second day and now I am good. I feel so much better to have these shots behind me. My hockey starts for real next Friday. My team is young so it will be a strange year. I think there will be wins but not sure how many especially since the Devils are in a very competitive group. The weather is so dreary as Chris said. So I guess it was a good time to get vaccines.

@faerywings Chris I too dislike this dreary weather. Hope the back eases up soon. But as you say good to scrap.

@tanteva Eva I have not read past posts but from today it seems you like candy corn. I love that candy. I am in a minority around my house. My sons are good at taking care of our pets. But as confirmed by others you never stop worrying.

@taxed4ever Trudy sorry you missed the hike. But yes I am sure your Gary would not like the car messed up so soon LOL. Hope that your son can come for Christmas. Mail the presents maybe they will get there just in time to put them in suitcases to bring back to you.

@felis felis I love it that cats indoors live longer. Do you ever find you cats just staring at something that you cannot see? My cat does this and I find it spooky.

Kay that is awesome that you did not go to the attic. I was going to wear this really nice black shoes to the wedding but they were so slippery on my wooden floor I knew I would fall. I guess we learn!

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl so happy that you can type longer these days. That harness sounds like something my hockey players would wear if they hurt their ribs or shoulders. So glad it helps you.

Waving.

Oh yes they do it. But I want to think that there is spider on the wall or some light reflection, or even dust dance at the air.
I'm hear really frightening old legends about the cats look beyond the veil, and also girl that is sure that they can see the aura spectrum. But I'm so uncomfortable with that idea, especially because this was the house of my grandparents, and the numerous of my lost cats is insane too, here must be very crowedd.
Isn't it funny how depends of the region at some countries have legend for vampires who can to transform in feline and other are on the opposite side and believe that cat can scary away vampire.
I can't see Lucy as scary personage, but Hunter on other side, oh this baby is really evil creature. :p

@nancyr Nancy, it definitely helps! It's very padded, criss-crosses in the back, and keeps my shoulders back where they're supposed to be. Probably exactly like the hockey players would wear. I think the doctor called it "a figure 8" yesterday. LOL First time I'd heard that. Then I have a sling that goes over that. He told me I could taper off wearing the sling IF I felt like I didn't need it. Wearing it is about the only way I can type very long, though. I'm not wearing it all the time, otherwise.
