Yes, it is still raining here in NJ but thank goodness it isn't as cold as it had been the last couple of days. The body aches and pain have gotten a little better. Part of that is because I caved and had to turn the heat on, it was 60* in the house and I was miserable. Not sure how we are going to pay the heat/electric bills -- but it will all work out.

I did a little more scanning and texted BFF some pics I found of us at her engagement party and a Twin Peaks Halloween party she had before she was married. I felt terrible bugging her at work but then I saw a really cute one of our DDs when they were toddlers. They were hugging each other in the picture and it was so freakin' adorable. I also somehow found the drivers on my computer for the old but Professional scanner. Whoo hooo! I hooked that up, got it running, and it does such a nice job even if it is ancient. I started a page for one of the challenges. Not with one of the old photos but I want to use them soon too. Maybe this afternoon I'll have time after I am back home (cleaning for my neighbor today).

-- I also wrote out another 4 voting letters and sent the rough draft of the toast to BFF. She marked it up in a few places and made it sound so much better. I am on a roll! Go me!!! (not really on a roll, just trying to pump myself up!)

Have a wonderful day, my lOves!!

@LSlycord That sounds wonderful to get the fresh air in the house. Shaun's pre-op is this morning? Good luck to him. Of course you are nervous, what mom wouldn't be? You got this! ♥
I got a kick out of your thread on food and memories. Once I started thinking about it, I had so many more that came to mind. I didn't want to take over the thread though LOL

@bcgal00 That is so exciting that you three are having a nice adventure at the park. Is Jen a photographer too? Have a great time, be safe, and get lots of terrific photos!! (Good luck getting the car finished up too)
*fingers crossed that the node continues to get smaller*

@vickyday I tend to be very OCD about the checking account, I also use GnuCash- it's like Quicken-- that helps me to keep it up to date. We tend to skate very low on the balance and while we have never overdrawn *knocks wood* I don't want to either. I hate those extra fees too, they come out of nowhere!
I bet you could make that chicken stew in a crockpot?

@Cherylndesigns Hahahahaha!!! Poor Alyssa getting stuck listening to "oldies" with you and Adrienne LOL!! I bet she was thrilled to drive the truck back on her own
That is awesome that Steph was able to get back to work so quickly too. Seeing some of the photos of the nearby places makes you grateful that everything/one is mostly ok. Hugs!
How did the cake turn out?

@vickyday I hope that you slept much better last night. Insomnia is the pits.
I would be a mess if I tried to do the challenges in order. I am lucky if I get all of them done in any order. ;)
I have been looking for a sink mat too- I can't seem to find them anywhere. I should just go to amazon too.

@BrightEyes Good luck with Medicare and your Dr setting up the tests.
Ugh, why do computers make such a mess of things when it updates? I bet that you recreated the LO and it was even better!

Vicky-- Gary is Type 1 and is on a Medtronic insulin pump. Is Mark on one? If so, what brand does he use? Gary's is making him bonkers, it loses contact with the blood sugar sensor, needs recalibration all of the time, and just isn't working as well as it should. According to Medicare, he is due for a new one but he is so unhappy with this brand that he doesn't know what to do

@tanteva Have a wonderful time away and enjoy eating out. That is really cool about Urban's book too. Two trips for you in one month!! Awesome!

@pachimac No need to apologize, Susie-- we knew you were busy with the renewal.
I am so so sorry to hear about Dayleen. How awful :( How far does Anissa live from you, will you be able to visit with her?
I love the cake, the flowers are gorgeous and elegant. I am so happy that your day was lovely!

Another rainy dreary day... not sure that the balloons will be flying. They are on hold right now. Although we need all the rain - it is a shame that it happening during the festival. It is only 54* and not expected to make it into the mid-60's today. And the forecast is the same for the next week. Thinking it is about time to switch the summer comforter over to the winter velvet one as I have a heavy throw on top the last several days. Thank goodness the house is well insulated so don't need to turn the heat on yet. There was snow in the mountains near Taos... which reminds me of the fall we moved here in 2000 and had a heavy snow in town a week before Halloween.

@faerywings so sorry you have had to turn your heat on already. Hope the bills for it aren't too high. Glad your BFF is helping you with the toast... and that you are getting the get out the vote letters done. Won't be long now until the engagement party... Time seems to be racing by. Yes, I am happier with the way the 2nd go at the LO turned out. Glad the computer update is done.
@vickyday - No, I don't do the forum challenges in numerical order. I do the ones that spark some creativity first or one that I see a kit that is perfect for it or I have photo/s that is right. I have a notebook w/pages of monthly forum challenges that I use to keep track of the challenges. I put a + by the challenge when I have a LO done - then change it to * once I post the LO to the galleries. It is the only way I can keep track of the different forum/challenges/designer releases.

@Cherylndesigns I saw your LOs on FB... so adorable. Had to LOL over Alyssa getting stuck listening to "oldies" with you and Adrienne. You have so much fun with the girls. Do talk your DH into being in more photos with and without you. Those are memories you and/or the family will treasure forever.

@bcgal00 so glad to hear the node seems to be getting less swollen. Enjoy your adventures to new places. I am loving all the beautiful photos you have taken and shared on FB. Really love the birds and apple one.

@LSlycord How wonderful that the weather is nice there so you can have the house open and enjoy the cooler less humid temps. Hope all goes well for Shaun and he feels like attending class after the procedure.

Time to get dressed and get a few chores done.

Mark is not on a pump. He is taking 4 Metformin pills and the dr just put him on Jardiance, too. Does Gary have problems with his potassium? Everytime Mark works really hard on controlling the sugar his potassium ends up being too high! Can't win for losing!

I slept better last night. Made sure I stayed up until I just couldn't hold my eyes open any longer. Slept in until 10 this a.m. I got the last of the challenges done. Actually, I might still have 7 to do. I don't remember, lol! That's how tired I was when I finally went to bed last night. My computer is so slow anymore that I started the disk clean up thing and defragmenting before going to bed. I finally had to let it finish on its own because I couldn't hold my head up.

I use Microsoft Money for my check book balancing. It is basically like quicken, too. I opened it the other day and it said there were no files! YIKES! It was like I was just opening it for the first time! I did a search for the .mny file and found it that way! I'm so glad I had that little bit of tech knowledge! Whew! I started to panic! I'm holding off on collecting my social security until I'm 70. I don't know if that is the smart thing to do or not. The amount will about double what I am getting from my late husband. Mark and I figure as long as we can we will wait. Does anyone know if that is a smart decision or not? Who really knows!

I keep a "notebook" of sorts, but it is in Word. I do it there so I can have the name of the challenge and the link where it is found. I put my journaling down and links to the credits. That way when I post my page I can copy and paste all of the information. While I am posting, I do all of my posting to the various places.....facebook, pinterest, twitter, instagram, blog, ct tracker.

Good morning!
I made it before the afternoon for a change! I got up about an hour ago. Had a good night of sleep after the terrible one Monday night! Thank You, LORD!

Not much going on here. The weather is beautiful! It is supposed to be really nice this weekend so Mark wants to do a bike ride on Friday and then gather some of our families (the ones that live here in NC) for a hot dog roast at the pits on Saturday. At least all I will have to do for that is make some hot dog chili and brownies for Mark. However, now that I'm thinking about it, I may have to make some baked beans! I won't be able to eat any of it but the hot dogs, lol, but it is what it is! I need to get the text done so I will know how many to expect and cook for.

And with that said, I'm off to get started!
Have a GREAT day!

Quick in and out today, we are heading off to Wells Gray Park until Friday afternoon. Looking forward to some nice scenery shots. I'll have my ipad to check in here and there.

Good morning! It was only 56* here when I got up. That was 2 degrees cooler than it was in Iowa. Oh my...I'll take it. It's sunny and going to mid-80's. Today, I remember why people live in Florida.

Shaun had his pre-op this morning. The surgery is at Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville. That place is the most amazing place. It runs as smoothly as any organization that I have ever seen in my life. That is where I go for my heart as well. Honestly, it does run like an assembly line but everyone there is professional, efficient and kind. I don't even know where they find people like that. Anyway, they will let us know after 6 pm what time his procedure is tomorrow. So we may or may not be out of here for an early morning. And the length of time for the procedure depends on what they find when they get in there. Worst case is a recovery period of 3 weeks...he can go to school but not work. So, here we are, waiting to figure out the road trip again.

And my brother posted on FB this morning that there is going to be a possible butter shortage this holiday baking season, so I'm going to go buy up a bunch of butter and put it in my freezer. I cannot be without butter.

I started my scanning efforts yesterday. I only got about 30 scanned. I'm trying to figure out how to organize them at the same time. Oh my...I think I will need to live to be 105 to get everything done. Or learn to speed up a bit. ;)

Good morning, all.

I slept so well last night - I stay up every night until I "hit the wall" Vicky @vickyday . That's the only way I can go to sleep. I have about 30 minutes after I drink my tea concoction, then I stumble to bed. Otherwise, I'd lay there for at least an hour and I can't stand to do that. But I slept exceptionally well last night. I didn't wake up until about 9:30 this am.

We're still having pretty hot days, but it's getting cool at night and there's a chill in the air during the day. It's in the mid 70's for a high. We all went up to Adrienne and Roger's for dinner for Adrienne's birthday. There's a new food truck in town called Kagumi that serve Japanese Hibachi food. That was what Adrienne wanted for her birthday dinner. The kids all went into town and got our food. It was SO good! They have THE best spring rolls I've ever had! They have delicious scallops too. We basically had chicken, beef, fried rice and noodles. We ate too much, but it was delicious. The chocolate mayonnaise cake turned out to be as delicious as I remembered! I wouldn't tell the kids what was in it until they started eating it and saying how delicious it was. I knew They'd say "ewwwwwww". Hahaha We opted to make the brown sugar, butter, powdered sugar glaze for the top. I don't remember the cakes Mom and Grandma made having frosting, but it was a nice touch.

Chris @faerywings sorry you had to turn your heat on. It's getting to be that time of year. Yes, Chris and Kay @BrightEyes we drive the kids crazy with our "oldies". Our "oldies" are Bob Segar and the 80's music. We know all the words and we sing loud. We throw some Kid Rock in there, too. Adrienne caught Alyssa rolling her eyes a few times. Bwahaha Yes, I'll bet Alyssa was jamming "her music" as soon as she got in Roger's truck on her drive home. Hahaha

I think I have a free day today - but I'm never sure. Chuck had to laugh yesterday at all the ins and outs. He said it's like a revolving door, but he loves it. Kay @BrightEyes I know I should make him do pictures again. He will if I insist. Ava DID take some cute pictures of him the other night. Our cat loves him and always lays on his chest and puts his paws up around his neck. He doesn't do that with anybody else. Cats always have "a person". Chuck is "his person".

I'd better go - I need to post my last 2 layouts to FB and IG - I didn't get that done last night, I was too tired. I got them posted in the gallery and Pinterest but ran out of steam. We'd been gone all evening so I got a late start.

Have a good day.

Linda,
I have created dated folders on the computer that I drag and drop everything into after I scan a batch. Mine were already in a "sort of" yearly order, so I'm adding dates (sometimes) if they are included on the picture.
