Time to dance, we finally saw blue skies yesterday! I wasn't 100% sure what that even was anymore. :D
I hope the rain stopped for those of you in the Southeast, it's been terrible for so long.

HS was a blast yesterday! I gotta say, I love that one kid but he is a handful! By the end of the session, I feel like we have just shouted over each other, progressively getting louder and louder. Redirecting him has mixed results. I'll keep working on it with him. The corn husk characters and the puppet show (I called it a YouTube video ;)) were hysterical! I had them make corn husk dolls and then we came up with a script., characters, scene, and plot. We set up the cabin's porch with a tablecloth and Laney decorated it. I had them do a run-through, and then we invited the two staff members who were on-site to come and watch. I recorded it on my phone and they loved that. Loved it. One boy couldn't wait to show his mom. I'll send the video to the Director if she wants to post it anywhere. The grass and wood were pretty damp and we couldn't get a fire started but we made (burned some too) popcorn on the camp stove I borrowed from Scott.

I have a quiet(ish) morning, and then cleaning for my friend this afternoon. Prepping for Apples tomorrow. We are making applesauce in the Instant Pot, plus some apple experiments. Scott and Sam might stop in today too.

Hugs to everyone!

I showed Gary the video of the show when I got home and within seconds, he could tell which boy I was talking about who was *loud.* :lol23:

A followup from my April visit to do bloodwork to see how/if the vitamins are helping with the b12 deficiency. I won't be doing another DEXA scan for several months.
Hope the labs come back in good ranges! I have to put making the calcium score/DEXA appts on my to-do list for today. Thx for reminding me -- I can't seem to figure out why that keeps slipping my mind.... :thinking2: :D
I can not imagine the devastation of the NC areas hit. I read an article by someone who lives in Asheville and he wrote how he was disoriented when he saw one home in town that looked like it was in the wrong place. He looked closer and it was because it wasn't on its foundation anymore. Had lifted up and floated down the property. Mindboggling, heartbreaking and mindboggling.

@BrightEyes You can send me the 80* temps! I am not ready to give up summer but looks like I don't have much choice. boo. I hope the winds have calmed down.
Did you sleep better last night? I've been up since 4.30 this morning and that stinks.

oday I get the stitches out of my wrist and get rid of the big bandage/brace. :woohoo:I am counting the hours, 4.5 from now! I hope I can knit then.
How did that go?? Think you will be able to knit soon? Are you getting excited for your trip?

Well it seems I must have been asleep at the helm while working on getting the challenge tracking thread for October done :giggle4: seems I posted the wrong list of challenges.
That sounds exactly like something I would do. :giggle4:
Did you get to scrap at all? I can't believe it is time to work on calendars again. I saw in the HAPS natali has a set out if you didn't catch that.

No wonder corn is not good for you, its grass and people aren't supposed to eat grass right?!!
:rotfl:
The kids wanted to taste the uncooked corn kernels from the ear that I brought in. Even after I told them it was grass LOL!!!

@AK_Tracy Have you been checking out the dollar deals? They won't hurt the credit card too much. (if you only buy a few at a time, that is. If you buy the entire story-- that is a different story :p)

ITA with Terri and Vicky-- 32* is cold! :brrr:

@JeanneMN I bet if you were a cat you would know where the box was.

Belly button check in today. It will be a 12 hour work day today with Wednesday programs at church. All is well, Mark is maybe over doing it a little bit - yesterday he was pretty sore. Rest and Ice for him today!
@faerywings glad to hear everything went well yesterday! Your energy is so fun and positive and you are so creative with your activities. It's pretty grey and misty here now, but it promises to be sunny and 80 by this afternoon.

HAGD everyone!

Good morning,
Quick in and out. I'm heading to Ilene's today for a few hours. Tonight is church, so I can't stay all day like she would like, LOL!
As far as the blood work from yesterday, everything was within normal range except the cholesterol and LDL....still high but coming down from the last check in April! The B12 was way high this time, so I am sure she will be backing me off of that. Thank You, Lord!
I spent my day yesterday moving pictures from early 2000's that are on CD/DVDs to an EHD. I borrowed one from Mark's shop. But it is going to take awhile to do all of the transfers, so I ordered one from Amazon that will be here tomorrow. Gotta love Amazon! ;). The number of CD/DVDs I have to move (which will require another EHD, too, I am sure....they fill 2 Walmart bags. I got about 20 done yesterday. That is maybe 1/5th of them.....that may be stretching it! OY VEY!
Anywho.....hope you all have a great day! Mark was able to get the grass mowed yesterday, even with a bit of rain happening. Today is sunny!
:bye2:

Especially since the tests are sooooo easy and quick! Getter' done, girl! ;)

This reminded me of the time we survived a tornado back in 1974. Our neighbor's house was lifted off the foundation and moved down the hill. Tim and I got on the roof and the gravity was even disoriented! We could hardly stand up! It was really a weird feeling!

Dentist visit was 4 1/2 hours, glad I did one last p right before I went in. I love my new dentist so much that I could hardly wait to get there . She is constantly asking me how I'm doing, and the second I feel anything she adds more novacaine. The novacaine was always awful for me, that digging around with the needle, she does it so slowly I don't feel it, add the nitrous and I was a happy camper. The sound of the tools still makes me clench, but they have such an amazing work climate there that I really enjoy sitting & listening to them talk & sometimes I make like a ventriloquist and speak in dental garble. I've always been embarrassed by my teeth & was teased a lot as a kid and even as an adult & sometimes even my students would say things, not to be mean, just commentary. My front canines were long and fat & in sideways, all the dentist did was pull teeth because there wasn't room, the bottoms were tipping every which way & being a constant nail biter didn't help I finally got braces in my 40's which straightened them out, and because they were so chipped the dentist suggested veneers, but after 30 years they weren't in good shape any more, plus my canines looked bigger and longer. I finally quit biting my nails in my mid 40s when I started getting my nails done. FF (I hear you saying "thank goodness", multiple chips in front teeth, one turning darker, when she asked me if I liked my smile, I laughed. She was able rebuild the bottom front ones, but some were worn down and sharp pointy dog teeth & some crowns were worn out. Yesterday was install 2 crowns up top, and then prep all 6 front teeth for crowns. When she popped in the temporaries I was kind of underwhelmed because the canines were still big & long, so she immediately said, I can shape them any way you want them. She told me to live with them for a few days, she can still shape them & if I'm not thrilled when the crowns are done they will redo them. I go in 3 weeks for crowns. Sore mouth today but so worth it.....ok that was short story long.

It was 40 when I got up this morning, but the high is supposed to be 80 today. Our weather is always a rollercoaster, but it's been a weird ride. I HAVE to get financials done today, then I'm going to explore the challenges and new things and hopefully scrap.

Seeing the devastation from Helene is just overwhelming and hearing the death toll still rising is heart breaking and for so many , having the lives they knew snatched away thru no fault of their own and how Congress can decide this is a good time to take a vacation is just mind boggling to me.

Morning, all. Woke up at 5:30AM...ugh!!! Gave in and got up... even before the sun was up. We had some high winds last evening, Tipped 2 of that patio chairs and almost blew the patio swing set over, so I ran out and took the swing down from the frame and tucked it behind the patio table. A lot of the leaves from the trees blew off and now are on the patio. The temps will be in the mid-to-high 80's all week! So it still feels like summer.
That's an awful time when you don't want to wake up, my body has sort of retrained itself to get up up @ 4 because of my early days at the gym, but as daylight starts draining away I get to the gym in the dark & leaving when it's still kind of dark. I am so glad the wind didn't decide to flip something over while you were rescuing the swing .
Today I get the stitches out of my wrist and get rid of the big bandage/brace. :woohoo:I am counting the hours, 4.5 from now! I hope I can knit then.
Going to check out this month's challenges and DSD offerings. I need to do a page about Kris Kristofferson. One of my all-time favorites, such a poet.
So happy to hear the stitches are coming out and I think knitting sounds like the perfect physical therapy. I'm sure mousing will also help . Kris Kristofferson, another one of my faves gone & I didn't realize he was 88. He's the reason I dipped my toe into listening to some country music. Loved him as an actor, Bob Dylan left the most beautiful tribute to him. There will never be another like him & his kids had such wonderful things to say about him as a dad. This is the time I think about my age.
am going to have to start my calendars very soon, that always stresses me out, so perhaps if start right away it will go a bit smoother than it did last year.
I used to do that for my son & our friends, I never started early enough and was always stressed before Christmas. When I went to just us and our friends, I started scrapping pages for them, how crazy was that? We started spending less & less time with them after he quit coaching and I wasn't taking photos. Once she retired and they built a home at the lake & moved we saw them even less because there were fewer projects. Then I was scrapping their grandkids who I wasn't seeing mine & that wasn't good. The first year we went to Key West, I said I thought we should skip Christmas gifts & she said of, the girls & their hubs won't mind, but I'd miss the calendars. I was never scrapping for us & I told her their pictures made me sad. Sorry, didn't mean to get so maudlin on you, but I know how you feel when you delay starting.
helped us get through those long winter months in more ways than one :drinkbuddies::giggle4:.
Amen sistah! We started when our rhubarb started growing like they were on steroids we decided to make rhubarb wine & THAT is labor intensive. Then we got into using kits & made like 150 batches. We used to dump the sludge, when we filtered as much as we could into glasses or jars & after it settled I'd get my trusty straw and vacuum it out. Our first ever batch was pit in the carboy right before we went on vacation, so Wendell put it in the bathtub in case it decided to be naughty (we use the shower downstairs), we never rise the bathtub. It became our wine cave. I was so proud when my grandkids early sentences were "Nana makes wine in her bathtub". When they were little and taking baths together, they'd use their tub toys to pour wine for Nana. I loved supervising baths. :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:
Aww aren't you nice to have given us your pump!! Yes we all live too far apart!! The work you have done to get your pond ready for winter seems like it was heavy and difficult, but I am sure it was all worth it and it must be so pretty all summer long!
Interestingly enough, I ordered it and filters from Canada.
I'm sorry you were up so early. We are at the time of year when I am up before the sun every day. Sunrise isn't until 8:15 now so its easy to be up first. What I love is that now I get to see the sunrises over the lake. So beautiful.
We're pretty close to your sunrise & set time. I'd enjoy the sunrise more if I didn't drive west for a mile or two and now the visor barely covers the sun & I can't see the color of the stoplights.
I love this! Great way to pass the long cold winter months! :wine4: That's how beer started at our house. Hubs was gifted a gallon home brew kit and then it took off and he found how much fun it was to make. I like the cost, its way cheaper then buying.
We are a little town, but we have a fantastic craft brewery just outside of town, OMG, it is phenomenal the liquor store in town stocks the size between regular cans and growlers, a crowler I think.
Glad its the last appointment. Will be good to be all done but I am sorry you have to be there that long.
They are so good to me I'm almost disappointed, one more appointment 3 weeks from now to put the final crowns on.
Time to dance, we finally saw blue skies yesterday! I wasn't 100% sure what that even was anymore. :D
I hope the rain stopped for those of you in the Southeast, it's been terrible for so long.
June was like that for us, now we can't get a speck. It's horrifying to see what 30" of rain will do.
Darlin' you were BORN to do this!
Belly button check in today. It will be a 12 hour work day today with Wednesday programs at church. All is well, Mark is maybe over doing it a little bit - yesterday he was pretty sore. Rest and Ice for him today!
You do belly buttons, next thing you know, you will he wearing wild leggings & tie dye. I think that's typical I think, I did the same thing with my knews, day after the surgery I went downstairs & then of course, I had to come up 2 sets. The bill for that escapade was brutal and after that I nested in the sunroom upstairs.

Good lord, this looks like I wrote the sequel to War & Peace.

Finances now my pretties and my little stuffed dog from my childhood too.

Good Morning ladies!! Its going to be a beautiful sunny day, but a bit on the cooler side for our hike this morning. SIL Linda is tagging along on this one. Its one of my favourite hikes to Holt Creek and Linda has never been there, so it will be a new hopefully good experience for her. I am sorry not be able to do personals today, unless I can pop in here after the hike. I need to get the rest of the Gift Certificates out to the winners also this afternoon. Should have gotten that done yesterday, but the day got away from me yet again, those darn squirrels :giggle4: . @JeanneMN you are killing me :lol23:love your sense of humor!! Sorry that you had to sit so long in the dentist chair! OUCH!!
I will try to catch up with everyone later!! I need to get my backpack ready to go and make sure I have some hand warmers in there too. Have a fabulous day everyone!:waving3:

Good Morning! About now I always think I should just start with Good afternoon since most of you are 4 hours ahead! But, its morning here so Good Morning O!

I love this!!!! You are what makes HS fun and exciting. When you can take your kid to a fun event and the people are excited to teach. Its so wonderful!!! We all knew you would rock it too!!!
:yourock:

@AK_Tracy Have you been checking out the dollar deals? They won't hurt the credit card too much. (if you only buy a few at a time, that is. If you buy the entire story-- that is a different story :p)

ITA with Terri and Vicky-- 32* is cold! :brrr:
Well, its a little cooler today, 28* and the lake is covered in fog and the sun is just starting to show. Its stunning and crisp. We should get up to 50.

As for DSD, yeah, I been bad and click click click cha- ching! When you add it all up, I'm around $15 so far and darn it, I had $5 to spend. :giggle4: But it was on sale so I had to! I've been better than in the past though and only buy it if I really will use it not just cause its on sale.
Good lord, this looks like I wrote the sequel to War & Peace.
:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: I'm with Trudy, @taxed4ever You crack me up!!!! I love your writing style and always enjoy your updates.

Well, this crisp day is off to a beautiful start. Coffees hot, house is warm, sunrise is starting. Beautiful day. October is just spectacular in the sunrise and sets. Last night was amazing. The mountain range was on fire, back lit by the sun, orange. I should've stopped for a photo and am mad I didn't but oh it was stunning.

Off and running. Coffee calling my name saying drink more! So I must listen :giggle4: Have a. wonderful day!

Good afternoon ladies. I just wanted to check in to make sure everyone is doing ok. @faerywings I have loved seeing the wedding pictures! What a wonderful looking family you have! I am so happy for you and so excited that you are doing something that fills your soul with this new job.

I have been worried about everyone. You for sure @vickyday. It looks like you are doing ok for which I am very grateful! Miss all of you...don't know that I will ever have time to scrap again...even a little. But I'm happy. We are in Iowa for now but will be heading back to Florida in a few weeks. Haven't seen either of my kids since mid-August. Shaun and I talk daily and Sydney and I talk...lots of times each days. But I'll be really happy to get them in my arms. But I do love Facetime!!!

Ok...need to get back to work but I wanted to check in and let you know that I think about you!

We saw a bit of :sunnyeyes:today!!
And now we've been 24 hours without a flood warning! But what do I care, we leave for Lisbon tomorrow!

Think you will be able to knit soon? Are you getting excited for your trip?
Doc told me I can knit but therapist says I have to keep the brace on, so I'm not sure how that's going to work. I will bring some cotton yarn with me and just knit dish cloths on the trip because it won't matter if I'm knitting to gauge or not.

I did my Kris Kristofferson page and posted it and then saw that the designer of one of the kits I used is no longer in the store. Arggh! I didn't use a lot of kit items so I took them out and simplified the page some mostly using Photoshop generic tools. I don't know how that fits into the 80% rule but I suppose someone will let me know if I'm not legal.

I am SO FAR away from being packed. Why can't I just bring everything? I'm off, back to the suitcase.

Yes, praises to Him for protecting us through the awful weather Helene dumped on the western part of the state!
So, you will be snowbirds in FL from now on, eh? ;). Good for you!
Thanks so much for stopping by! :hug4:
