Dentist visit was 4 1/2 hours, glad I did one last p right before I went in. I love my new dentist so much that I could hardly wait to get there . She is constantly asking me how I'm doing, and the second I feel anything she adds more novacaine. The novacaine was always awful for me, that digging around with the needle, she does it so slowly I don't feel it, add the nitrous and I was a happy camper. The sound of the tools still makes me clench, but they have such an amazing work climate there that I really enjoy sitting & listening to them talk & sometimes I make like a ventriloquist and speak in dental garble. I've always been embarrassed by my teeth & was teased a lot as a kid and even as an adult & sometimes even my students would say things, not to be mean, just commentary. My front canines were long and fat & in sideways, all the dentist did was pull teeth because there wasn't room, the bottoms were tipping every which way & being a constant nail biter didn't help I finally got braces in my 40's which straightened them out, and because they were so chipped the dentist suggested veneers, but after 30 years they weren't in good shape any more, plus my canines looked bigger and longer. I finally quit biting my nails in my mid 40s when I started getting my nails done. FF (I hear you saying "thank goodness", multiple chips in front teeth, one turning darker, when she asked me if I liked my smile, I laughed. She was able rebuild the bottom front ones, but some were worn down and sharp pointy dog teeth & some crowns were worn out. Yesterday was install 2 crowns up top, and then prep all 6 front teeth for crowns. When she popped in the temporaries I was kind of underwhelmed because the canines were still big & long, so she immediately said, I can shape them any way you want them. She told me to live with them for a few days, she can still shape them & if I'm not thrilled when the crowns are done they will redo them. I go in 3 weeks for crowns. Sore mouth today but so worth it.....ok that was short story long.
It was 40 when I got up this morning, but the high is supposed to be 80 today. Our weather is always a rollercoaster, but it's been a weird ride. I HAVE to get financials done today, then I'm going to explore the challenges and new things and hopefully scrap.
Seeing the devastation from Helene is just overwhelming and hearing the death toll still rising is heart breaking and for so many , having the lives they knew snatched away thru no fault of their own and how Congress can decide this is a good time to take a vacation is just mind boggling to me.
Morning, all. Woke up at 5:30AM...ugh!!! Gave in and got up... even before the sun was up. We had some high winds last evening, Tipped 2 of that patio chairs and almost blew the patio swing set over, so I ran out and took the swing down from the frame and tucked it behind the patio table. A lot of the leaves from the trees blew off and now are on the patio. The temps will be in the mid-to-high 80's all week! So it still feels like summer.
That's an awful time when you don't want to wake up, my body has sort of retrained itself to get up up @ 4 because of my early days at the gym, but as daylight starts draining away I get to the gym in the dark & leaving when it's still kind of dark. I am so glad the wind didn't decide to flip something over while you were rescuing the swing .
Today I get the stitches out of my wrist and get rid of the big bandage/brace.
I am counting the hours, 4.5 from now! I hope I can knit then.
Going to check out this month's challenges and DSD offerings. I need to do a page about Kris Kristofferson. One of my all-time favorites, such a poet.
So happy to hear the stitches are coming out and I think knitting sounds like the perfect physical therapy. I'm sure mousing will also help . Kris Kristofferson, another one of my faves gone & I didn't realize he was 88. He's the reason I dipped my toe into listening to some country music. Loved him as an actor, Bob Dylan left the most beautiful tribute to him. There will never be another like him & his kids had such wonderful things to say about him as a dad. This is the time I think about my age.
am going to have to start my calendars very soon, that always stresses me out, so perhaps if start right away it will go a bit smoother than it did last year.
I used to do that for my son & our friends, I never started early enough and was always stressed before Christmas. When I went to just us and our friends, I started scrapping pages for them, how crazy was that? We started spending less & less time with them after he quit coaching and I wasn't taking photos. Once she retired and they built a home at the lake & moved we saw them even less because there were fewer projects. Then I was scrapping their grandkids who I wasn't seeing mine & that wasn't good. The first year we went to Key West, I said I thought we should skip Christmas gifts & she said of, the girls & their hubs won't mind, but I'd miss the calendars. I was never scrapping for us & I told her their pictures made me sad. Sorry, didn't mean to get so maudlin on you, but I know how you feel when you delay starting.
helped us get through those long winter months in more ways than one
.
Amen sistah! We started when our rhubarb started growing like they were on steroids we decided to make rhubarb wine & THAT is labor intensive. Then we got into using kits & made like 150 batches. We used to dump the sludge, when we filtered as much as we could into glasses or jars & after it settled I'd get my trusty straw and vacuum it out. Our first ever batch was pit in the carboy right before we went on vacation, so Wendell put it in the bathtub in case it decided to be naughty (we use the shower downstairs), we never rise the bathtub. It became our wine cave. I was so proud when my grandkids early sentences were "Nana makes wine in her bathtub". When they were little and taking baths together, they'd use their tub toys to pour wine for Nana. I loved supervising baths.
Aww aren't you nice to have given us your pump!! Yes we all live too far apart!! The work you have done to get your pond ready for winter seems like it was heavy and difficult, but I am sure it was all worth it and it must be so pretty all summer long!
Interestingly enough, I ordered it and filters from Canada.
I'm sorry you were up so early. We are at the time of year when I am up before the sun every day. Sunrise isn't until 8:15 now so its easy to be up first. What I love is that now I get to see the sunrises over the lake. So beautiful.
We're pretty close to your sunrise & set time. I'd enjoy the sunrise more if I didn't drive west for a mile or two and now the visor barely covers the sun & I can't see the color of the stoplights.
I love this! Great way to pass the long cold winter months!
That's how beer started at our house. Hubs was gifted a gallon home brew kit and then it took off and he found how much fun it was to make. I like the cost, its way cheaper then buying.
We are a little town, but we have a fantastic craft brewery just outside of town, OMG, it is phenomenal the liquor store in town stocks the size between regular cans and growlers, a crowler I think.
Glad its the last appointment. Will be good to be all done but I am sorry you have to be there that long.
They are so good to me I'm almost disappointed, one more appointment 3 weeks from now to put the final crowns on.
Time to dance, we finally saw blue skies yesterday! I wasn't 100% sure what that even was anymore.
I hope the rain stopped for those of you in the Southeast, it's been terrible for so long.
June was like that for us, now we can't get a speck. It's horrifying to see what 30" of rain will do.
HS was a blast yesterday! I gotta say, I love that one kid but he is a handful! By the end of the session, I feel like we have just shouted over each other, progressively getting louder and louder. Redirecting him has mixed results. I'll keep working on it with him. The corn husk characters and the puppet show (I called it a YouTube video
) were hysterical! I had them make corn husk dolls and then we came up with a script., characters, scene, and plot. We set up the cabin's porch with a tablecloth and Laney decorated it. I had them do a run-through, and then we invited the two staff members who were on-site to come and watch. I recorded it on my phone and they loved that. Loved it. One boy couldn't wait to show his mom. I'll send the video to the Director if she wants to post it anywhere. The grass and wood were pretty damp and we couldn't get a fire started but we made (burned some too) popcorn on the camp stove I borrowed from Scott.
Darlin' you were BORN to do this!
Belly button check in today. It will be a 12 hour work day today with Wednesday programs at church. All is well, Mark is maybe over doing it a little bit - yesterday he was pretty sore. Rest and Ice for him today!
You do belly buttons, next thing you know, you will he wearing wild leggings & tie dye. I think that's typical I think, I did the same thing with my knews, day after the surgery I went downstairs & then of course, I had to come up 2 sets. The bill for that escapade was brutal and after that I nested in the sunroom upstairs.
Good lord, this looks like I wrote the sequel to War & Peace.
Finances now my pretties and my little stuffed dog from my childhood too.
