I almost typed "October" instead of November in the Subject just now. It is totally, 100% *not* October. It snowed last night.
I said my first F-bomb of the snow season. Yup, I am sure that there will be many, many more to come. Thankfully, it didn't stick, at least not here. The schools have a delayed opening so my guess is that it did stick up the mountain.

I got a lot accomplished yesterday but not too much to show for it. Almost all of the Halloween boxes are in the attic (it was so cold up there!) and I know that I'll be back up there soon for the Christmas decorations. That will be fun though. I kept on crocheting and am really happy with how it is coming out. Now it's a battle between me and the yarn, will I run out of yarn before I finish the shawl???
I made a vegetarian pot pie for dinner to test a vegan pie crust recipe. I am making apple pie for next week and I have to admit I make the *best* pie crust. (I am so modest. ;) It's actually a Martha Stewart recipe and it's reeaaaaaaalllly good and flaky) This one was ok-- it was much better than I expected but vegan butter doesn't give it the same flavor. The recipe also calls for apple cider vinegar to "loosen the gluten" and even though I used less than the recipe calls for (tried that with pastry before and wasn't thrilled with the taste) you could still taste that it was "off." Gary thought I made it with cauliflower. (don't ask me, it didn't taste anything like cauliflower *shrugs*)

Today is gonna be another busy one. I am going to cube the chuck roast and trim the fat, pop it in the crock pot with some carrots and cook that for the dogs. They might only eat a tiny bit of it before it goes bad. Although I can probably refreeze it? One thing I really, really hate is wasting food. I am picking up my groceries and then off to the vet to pick up the dogs' heartworm and tick preventative. Cleaning for my friend this afternoon and then what to cook for dinner...

such excitement! LOL!!

Have fun today!

What did you do, put on the AC? At least for a little while?
Syd's Friendsgiving sounds like it was a tremendous success! I remember "back in the day" when I lived in the dorms, we didn't have any access to a kitchen so we cooked Thanksgiving dinner in our hot pots. LOL
hehe, you spoke too soon about the snow in NJ. My parents were supposed to go to PA and decided not to go because it was going to be more up there.
PS: I LOVE that you showed off to the family how clean the kitchen was. When I do that, there is an underlying threat to them that they better not mess it up. You seem genuinely proud :D

@BrightEyes that's not good that your arm is tingling again. How is it today? Keep on resting! Your sister is coming soon?

@bcgal00 Yum, breakfast for dinner is the best- and yours sounds super healthy. ♥
Oh no, my little guy Taz is getting old?! Caitlyn noticed that J's eyes are starting to get cloudy. I don't like any of it. Taz is 9? Is that what you said? I wish I could remember how old J is. Around there too, I think

@Cherylndesigns What the heck, Steph? LOL She sounds like me-- home from the hospital and wanting to go out in less than 24 hours. SMH!! ;)
Did she make it out or end up sleeping?
Enjoy binging Yellowstone with her

@vickyday Do you have an easy pattern for Granny squares? I'd like to give them a try. Even if I am not sure what to make out of them other than afghans like my Grandma always did *no idea* How awesome you are going to make a bucket hat for Ilene too.
Feel better vibes to Mark~~~

@tanteva Even though I am hating the snow- your photo is gorgeous with the blues and the moon peeking through the tree
Enjoy!

hugs!!

Good morning. Sitting out on the lanai and it is cloudy! The temp is 71 but that is as high as it will get today. Overnight low is predicted to be 49. I know, for all of you with snow, that doesn't sound so bad.

Shaun and Brian are over at Mayo this morning. They are checking for a UTI so he is providing a urine sample at 7:00 so that they can grow the cultures and talk to him at 10:00. Then he has another CT the day after Thanksgiving. I sure hope that they can find something and he can get this behind him!

I went to the grocery store yesterday! Went in the morning and the place was almost empty which was nice...I was able to take my time to find things without having to fight a crowd. My cart was overflowing...I bought most of the freezer/pantry items for Thanksgiving day.

I have got frozen shortbread cookies and no bake chocolate cookies in the freezer. I'm going to try a new recipe today for brown butter pecan cookies. I think that we may wait until the week after Thanksgiving to go to Merritt Island. Think I am going to run out of time to get it done before Syd gets home.

Going to grab another cup of coffee and then I will be back for personals.#coffee

@faerywings yay for you for getting a lot done yesterday. I can't believe that Gary thought that you used cauliflower to make the pie crust. LOL I'm sorry that the snow has hit your area...#angry2 And yes, strangely enough I am quite proud of my accomplishments with the oven and fridge. Love your memories of cooking Thanksgiving in hot pots. And NO AC yesterday! I'm now officially in the no AC season.

@BrightEyes oh I hope that you just slept on that arm wrong and that you feel better today. Nerve pain is just the worst!

@bcgal00 it made me sad to hear that you needed to get out of bed to lift Taz onto the bed. It is so hard to watch them age. Andie is 4 1/2 and Hayden turned 3 last week so we aren't dealing with the aging yet. But, especially with Andie's size, I know it will come sooner than I am ready. (Although, after that fall with Andie a couple of months ago, Andie and Hayden may be having dog conversations about my aging. ;))

@Cherylndesigns it sounds like Steph wants to just enjoy every single minute having her mom with her. Every new restaurant...watching Yellowstone...enjoy every minute!

@vickyday do your lady friends also crochet...or are they too busy playing games? LOL Love that bunch of ladies and what a good friend you are to them!

@tanteva beautiful picture. You need to make a page with that for sure!!

Ok, I need to go get a shower in and get ready for the day! Happy Hump Day...which now means nothing to me since I'm not working. LOL

SNOW!!!!! OH, NO!!!!! That is the ONLY thing I do NOT like about autumn.......the season that follows it!

Glad you are finally happy with how the shawl is turning out! I knitted one for myself one time and it turned out so small that I gave it to my granddaughter who loved it! It was the perfect size for her. I think she was 5 at the time LOL! OOPS! No telling what I did wrong!

I would think you could refreeze the doggie food!

Morning, all. Yes, the arm/hand are feeling better this AM... thank goodness! Not back to normal but not cold and tingling. Decided to go pick-up Rx at the base yesterday as the sun was out and the temps managed to get up in the 50's. The pharmacy was understaffed due to a base wide exercise this week so had to stand in line a bit longer than usual. The commissary wasn't busy at all so walked right up to check-out with no line at all!!! Only bought about half the normal amount (no meat this time) so easy to unload and put it away. Got the rest of the fixings for Thanksgiving so all set for Sister's visit. She will be here next Monday until Friday or Saturday.

I decided to treat myself for my birthday and ordered 6 books of 'The Other' series by Anne Bishop. I have book 1 already. I know I will enjoy re-reading them. They should be here around Dec 1st. Will get Book 8 when it comes out in paperback early next year.

THIS GAL has the easiest granny square video I have ever seen for beginners! Search her channel. I'm sure she has a video to show you what to do after you get your square done. I have a tendency to just keep going on the square to make it bigger and bigger. You can change colors along the way. It gives your finished product a bit of a different look and it is going to be square vs. making bunches of squares, seaming them together (which I H.A.T.E. doing, lol) into whatever shape you want (rectangle or square). Check her out!

No, they don't crochet or knit. I'm not sure if Carolyn did in her younger days, but I know Ilene probably couldn't sit still that long, LOL! Love her to pieces! She is a character!

Good Morning Everyone!
It was going to be a PJ day for me, but DH invited me to go to lunch with him. He must need a break at work, LOL! I'll take it! That means I have to get dressed, LOL! I will leave here shortly so I must be quick!

Had a great time with my friends yesterday, as usual! We were going to do lunch but I was hungry when I woke up so we changed plans and went to breakfast instead. Then we went to Ilene's and played Rummikub and Qwirkle until about 4:30 before parting ways. Mark had fixed his own supper.......sausage biscuits! Works for me! After the breakfast I had I fixed myself a sweet potato and had a bit of trail mix for my supper.

No plans for today except for cleaning the kitchen and starting a bucket hat for Ilene or the granddaughter. Not sure which one I will do first. I might do Hannah's first since I would like to take it to her when I see her on Friday.

I've already done some personals, so need to close this out and get dressed! I don't think Mark (or anyone else) would appreciate me showing up in my PJs, LOL! Even though "they" do it all the time at Walmart! ;)

Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. A bit of snow is coming this afternoon. I'll take Remi to the park to play later. I went out to clean up the yard and watched a eurasian dove and magpie try to stare each other down, each wanting to get to the feeder. I never got a chance to meal plan yesterday so will work on that today.

I've been craving meatloaf so will take out the meat for that to defrost for tomorrow. Tonight we'll have burgers, I've got a keto bun that I can use, and salad. My kind of dinner...easy.

Not much going on around here. Quiet day.

@faerywings You've been more productive in the kitchen than I have been. I still haven't made muffins...maybe today :) How long have I been saying that? LOL. I have a new batch of blueberries, so maybe....

@LSlycord That made me laugh...yes, I'm sure the dogs talk about our aging LOL. Taz follows along behind me on the stairs in the morning, we are both a little stiff as we start out on our day.

@BrightEyes Glad you are improving. Enjoy the new books soon.

@vickyday Sounds like you have the best time with your friends!

I'm going to hop in the shower and get on with my day. HAGD everyone.

Good morning, lovelies.

You all sound like you're busy on this Wednesday - some have snow and nice Florida temps. It's 80 here - almost always warm. Yes, the AC has been on. My daughter is very warm-blooded - so am I. She's actually freezing me out. Hahaha I was so cold last night that I slept in my hooded sweatshirt. That's motherly love, isn't it? I woke up this morning about 7:30 and was hot - I'd turned off the ceiling fan too.

Steph is feeling better today - she's very talkative that's a good sign. She wants to go to this new restaurant later in the week, or early next week. You go in and pick out your food - like a farmer's market, and they fix it for you. It's like "farm to table". I hope we can, but I still think she's biting more off than she should.

I'll try to do personals, but probably won't get to it. I'm doing good to check in. Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Miss you all.

XOXO

No photos today. I wish my camera had been handy. They are both such finicky birds that by the time I opened the door and stepped out, they would have flown away. The only time I get a photo is if I'm already outside with the camera and they don't realize I'm there.
