It's my sweetheart's birthday today! :jumpingcake:
I had a dream the night before last that I had been getting his age wrong all of these years. I was recounting the dream to Gary and Caitlyn yesterday and said that in my dream, he was 48. Caitlyn said, "Wow, that sounds old." Hmmmph. In reality, Gary is 54 today which also sounds really old. :giggle4: And yeah, I am older-- I'll be 55 in June and realized when I was doing a survey the other day, that my age will bump into the next category.

Caitlyn ended up coming to my parents' with us. She didn't have any appts and so she brought her laptop and did work and visited at the same time. Gary's stomach was in bad shape so we had to leave soon as he was done which bummed us out. My parents wanted to take us out to lunch and we wanted to spend time with them too. But at least the handrail is up and that's one less thing my mom can complain about. ;)

I have to pick up my groceries and then get ready for Gary's dinner. My mom is the best, she picked up a salmon from Costco so we are having that for dinner. She also went to one of Cait's favorite vegan restaurants that is near her and got her dinner too. I'm making salmon, mashed potatoes, roasted garlic green beans, and a peanut butter cookie pie. After dinner, we have plans to break out Pictionary. I hope that my drawing skills have improved since the last time we played. [Narrator voice: They will not.]

I listened to the birds again this morning with Merlin and the app recorded a Downy Woodpecker. I know there are pileated woodpeckers in the woods near me, ya can't miss them, but I'll have to look for this one too.

WWW:
I wish I had that million dollars so I didn't have to cook every day (yeah, I am still bangin' on about that since yesterday LOL)
I want Gary to have a wonderful day and I wish that maybe just for today, his stomach wouldn't bother him.
I wish all of you a happy, healthy, and stress-free day!

@vickyday This weather is killing me and my basement. The sump pump is still going but not as much as it was over the weekend. (My town got 4.6" Sat/Sun- eep!) The dreariness is getting to me, that's for sure. How is it by you? I hope that you see the sun today
and that it warms up too. Thank you soo much for the suggestions for my wrist- I have 1 lb weights around here somewhere. They're red. I know that much, but where they are? Not a clue :lol23:
I'd say good luck at the dentist but since that was yesterday, I'll say that I hope it went well. I didn't have dental insurance for years and years and ended up having 5 cavities the first time I went in. Since I am on Medicaid for now I can get two cleanings a year. I bet your mouth is tender after the cleaning. Hope it wasn't too bad.

@taxed4ever It sounds like you are *finally* on the mend, what an utterly awful experience for you. It is not like you at all to be down for the count that long. That's so smart to go nice and easy on the hike today, the fresh air and exercise will make you feel wonderful- as long as you don't push it. ( <~ I'm sorry. I can't help myself!)
How lucky for your brother to travel (is this the one that lived in AU?).

Vicky -- ITA with Trudy, let your Dr know about your neck hurting when you bend it backward. Sam's mom had a stroke at a hair salon when her neck was bent backward in the sink. Something pressed on a blood vessel and that was that. Not to worry you, but I would hate for that to happen.

@tanteva Did you see this guy: :gloomy: that is how I am feeling with the weather, sounds like you too. I also saw this guy to make it all better :ilovechocolate:
WTH? That stinks about the shop owner. I don't think it was your communication skills that are messed up.
Can you open an Etsy shop of your own? Wish I could sit and drink coffee and :soapbox: with you.

@Cherylndesigns Sorry that your weather is crummy too, why is it so cold? :brrr: Although, same here-- we are supposed to see the sun and warmer temps this week. Please let that be true for everyone!!
I get asked all of the time if I think Caitlyn will switch to vegan after she and Tom have a place of their own and I don't think so. She also loves cheese way too much LOL
*fingers crossed that the plans work out for Asher to visit this summer*

@Nonni F Thanks for popping in! I knew you had a rough week at work a while back and was hoping that it wasn't getting to you again.
I saw this guy :voodoodoll: and thought of your friend (who I hope is doing as well as can be.)
Here's to a less chaotic day!! :wine3:

Me too! This is my WWW!

Happy birthday to Gary!

Trying my best to feel creative today ... but nah, not really. Soon it's time to make dinner, and so far I haven't gotten much done around here. Dinner will be spaghetti and bacon for John and fake-on for me and Urban. Bought a sauce, well, basically a spiced sour cream to add the fake-on too. Think I'll have to add a can of mushrooms too (yes, I love the chewy chewy canned mushrooms!), cuz it's not much fake-on in a package. Need to be leftovers for lunch tomorrow, at least for Urban. If it's not enough for me, I can cook something else, since I'm home ... or just forget to eat lunch, which happens far too often for me.

Hope Urban won't be tired when he gets home. Hoping he wants to watch an episode or two tonight. I've bought The Americans on DVD, and we've just started on season 2. It's such a good show! I've seen it before, but not Urban. Love re-watching it. Even if it's about the cold war era, it feels scary current these days.

Talking about these days - been looking over our prepping stuff. We are sort of on top of things, but I'm not sure what food to stash. Especially for John, he's such a picky eater, and I have so little knowledge about the canned foods for "carnivores". How about you all, are you good at prepping? I'm thinking of making like a weekly meal plan, but for 7-10 days of TSHTF scenarios. That's what the government recommends: to have stuff at home to last all by your self in 7-10 days in case of emergency. Does anyone of you have a menu plan for this? I think it would make it more clear how much you need to store.

Ooops ... went off on a tangent there ... LOL

Good Morning everyone! It is a beautiful sunny day and I had to open the windows to cool the house off, the temps must have stayed really warm all night long. (again sorry @faerywings ). I will be quick in here this morning, as I have to get my backpack ready to go soon. Feeling not so groggy and foggy this morning, so that is good! Sure hope that whatever is still hanging on to me, will finally let go!! I went for my eye appointment yesterday and my Rx has changed very slightly, so I am getting new glasses. I spent almost an hour finding a frame that I really liked. The style is a bit different than what I have now, but they are very nice and comfortable too. The gals that work there all helped me decide lol. I almost went for a pair of Jimmy Choo's that had a black frame and some bling on the sides, but thought that I might only like those for fancy, so I went with the Maui Jims and a two toned blue frame, which were a bit more subtle. Thank goodness for my DH's great insurance, the cost was zero!!! :lovey3: . So now I know that he can never retire :giggle4:.

@faerywings -Happy Birthday to your Gary!! :partyhorn: Aww that's too bad that he was not feeling well enough to stay at your parents! I sure hope his stomach is feeling much better for his special day and delicious birthday supper! Hopefully that darn sun starts to come back to your neck of the woods and makes everyone feel better! :sunout:.

@tanteva - Hmmmm are you trying to plan for some kind of horrible disaster? Do you know something that we don't?? LOL. I sure hope not! One suggestion for your son is maybe lots of canned spam :spam: if you shred it and add lots of eggs and onions and peppers it makes a great breakfast meal that we call Western Sandwiches, you can even add ketchup for some extra flavour . :lol23:.

Ok I gotta get busy and get ready for my hike. I hope you all have a wonderful day! :waving1

@faerywings Happy b-day to Gary from somewhere in the Mexico waters :)

We are on the way back, should be hitting US waters sometime later today and will be in LA tomorrow morning. We get off the ship mid morning, get shuttled to the airport and hopefully will make it in time to get our flight home during the afternoon. Then we collect luggage and car, and if traffic isn't too bad we should be home around 9ish tomorrow night. If we don't make our flight we'll be overnight in LA but fingers crossed that doesn't happen. I am ready to go home. We have had a blast but miss my family, dogs and regular life at home. Plus, it's now birding season so can't wait to get out with my camera at home.

It's funny that I didn't even think of the internet cafe on board the ship until this morning. So much easier to check in with a PC monitor and keyboard, rather than my phone. I'm waiting for a friend and we'll go to the culinary talk and tour in a bit (Darrell passed on this one). Then a bit of packing before noon trivia game which we've attended all days at sea, followed by lunch. Then another trivia game this afternoon with friends before getting dressed for (our last) dinner. We have two game shows tonight to attend and then will head back to our room to shower, get ready for bed and hopefully asleep by 11ish. The days have flown by, we have really enjoyed spending time with our new friends and we hope to travel together again next year, and the entertainment on Princess has been so much fun. We really got to know a lot of the staff too (we are well known on board as the fun Canadians).

We'll be exhausted by the time we get home Thurs night (or Fri, depending on what flight we get on) but real life will start up again on Friday morning.

I'll check in with you Friday when I am back.

Good morning - well it won't be by the time I finish, but it is now.

It's gorgeous here and already almost 70. I don't hear the wind whipping either.

Chris @faerywings Happy Birthday to Gary! :bdaycake::bdaysmile: You and your dreams, Chris. I didn't know that Gary married an older woman. :floorlaugh: I know your parents appreciated your getting that railing up. I still can't believe they didn't have a handrail going down into the basement. That makes me shiver just thinking about it.

Gary's birthday dinner sounds great and have fun playing Pictionary. I suck at that. Hope Gary's tummy feels better tonight.

Eva @tanteva can you get Amazon deliveries there? They have all kinds of meal plans - I was just looking at them and they look darned good. Of course, you can always get MRE's (military) meals ready to eat that's what they all eat. You can find them online - just put in meals ready to eat. I found one site that has what looks like real food. As for us, we have lots of beans, noodles, rice, and we love the good, canned chicken and have lots of soup, etc. Make sure you have a hand can opener - an electric one won't be much help. Have you seen the "water systems" that can convert ANY water into drinking water? The campers use them and convert lake water. My housekeeper, Casey says they can even convert a mud puddle into drinking water. I'd better stop now before the other girls think we have on our tin foil hats, but you asked. And ketchup never goes bad.:ketchup::floorlaugh: Oh, and emergency candles and long lighters - I've always had stocks of them. Candles, I mean. Whenever the wind starts howling, I get a couple of them out and light them just in case because I can't see in the dark. Oh and flashlights, batteries, too.

Trudy, have fun on your hike today.

I'm going to scoot - we had some Amazon deliveries 2 days ago and Ava"s out tracking them down> they're somewhere on the compound. I ordered a hard cover book and I want it. LOL It's probably in somebody's truck or car - everybody picks up the deliveries then forgets to "deliver them". Then I found out I had another one today but it's in the mailbox. Fun and games on the ranch. LOL We all order so much from Amazon and somebody always has the orders in their possession. It's just finding out who. She'll get on the "Ranch Group Text" today if she has to. We only have 6 residences where they could be. #crazy-2:floorlaugh:

Good Evening. Have a few moments to pop in. @faerywings thanks for thinking of me... (and work) all is well there, just been pulled in too many directions and time on the computer came last. Hopefully things will quiet down. My MIL comes home from rehab tomorrow. Not sure what she plans to do. She is considering moving to FL to live with my SIL. We shall see. She is at least retired, unlike the rest of us, and can keep a better end on her. Difficult decisions to be made and it's hard to see them fail but she needs to be somewhere safe.

Happy Birthday to Gary!

@bcgal00 welcome back to the real world. So glad you've had a fun trip!

@taxed4ever happy to hear things are less foggy and you're feeling better. Here's to an even better day tomorrow.

How many bottle of ketchup does a family of three need to store in case of emergency?????
it depends? Are you using it as pasta sauce?

I'll check Amazon. The Swedish site is a bit messy, and I find it hard to find stuff there, cuz they use some kind of Google translate, and at times it's totally weird.

We do have a water filtering thingamajing, and a camping "kitchen", and a solar cell radio. We have a creek running through our garden, it will be useful.

Also, I have my tin foil hat. :giggle4:
