((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) to you as we all deal with yet another mass shooting at a school. My brain and heart just hurt. I am angry and numb and sad. I don't get it. I saw a quote on Twitter last night and thought that it was referencing last week's mass shooting. After I read a little more, I saw it was a "current" shooting. It is awful that we cannot even keep the towns/times straight in our heads.

My plans for today got all upended because Caitlyn has Covid. So far, the rest of us have tested negative but I spent the last two days driving all over with her to get party supplies. We were on our way home from the liquor store when she said that what she thought were allergies might be a cold and I asked her to test before I went to my parents. The timing could be worse but not by much.
I have to pick up my groceries this morning but then I am staying close to home, monitoring every sniffle I get.

Ugh. Can I just pound my head on my desk until I pass out??

@taxed4ever It must have been nice to get home and shower after that long day of yard work at your MILs. Dahlias have to be dug up/brought in for the winter, IIRC? If that is right - wouldn't;t it make more sense to keep a few and plant a hardier perennial? let me guess, you already suggested that and she said no. "Like a big boss lady" hahaha!
thx for the advice for my mom, good to know it isn't just me dealing with it LOL

@bcgal00 woo hoo for getting a good night's sleep! Zucchini and parm fries sound delish. Good for you doing great on keto.
Nope, my mom doesn't do anything for stress mgt. I think she needs more time to get used to the pacemaker as well but the mental blocks she puts on herself seem so ridiculous to me although I know they arent to her. Her sister called yesterday and told her the exact same things I did, and hopefully, she will listen more to her than to me.

@Lynn Grieveson
looks like I didn't knock loud enough! bwuahahahahah!!! How are you all doing? *fingers and toes crossed for both of us!*
orry to hear about Covid, I swear my family is the only one in New Jersey that hasn't gotten it yet. For now-- I am sure it is only a matter of time *knocks wood*

@BrightEyes Woo boy, you must have been exhausted when you got home after all of that driving and errands. It's funny, I had a dream last night that I forgot to vote-- my ballot was mailed weeks ago LOL
Good luck getting the computers switched!

@Cherylndesigns I am listening to what you say-- I think my mom does need that extra time to go out, ha-- yes she does what she wants to do and when she wants to do it.
I have been suggesting anti-deps for her for a long time. Cait and I both take Zoloft and research suggests that brain chemistry can be hereditary so it would make sense for her to try that one first. But she doesn't want to take "one more pill." I get that --- but at the same time, I would love to see her happier and less anxious.

Glad the girls made it back safe and sound even though it sounds like the trip was nightmare

@tanteva hope you are having fun on the trip and tea!

Oh my goodness. I can't believe that poor Cait has Covid. I am so sorry @faerywings.

I too am heartbroken over those young students shot down at school. It feels like my Joy-o-meter is pretty darned low but I wanted to check in with all of you and give some virtual hugs.

House hunting...2 of the ones that we are interested in are now under contract. We have had 20 showings and 2 of those are second showings. I think we will stay on the market through the weekend and then, if it doesn't sell, probably take it off. It is such a hassle to load the dogs up and be out of the house and with me working, I stay here and just tell them to ignore me.

I'll be back tonight...I need a happy place!

Morning all... is it a good morning?? Seems the world is falling apart right? My heart breaks for all of those poor little ones that were so viciously attacked while at school! Isn't school supposed to be your safe place where you learn and spend time with your friends?? Not sure if I will be hiking today, its gloomy and wet out there, just like our moods today! If it looks like it might clear up then I will go, so I will get everything ready, we will see.

@faerywings - Oh dear, poor Caitlyn!! I hope that her test was a false positive, and that she only has a cold. Regardless it is bad timing that is for sure! Keeping my fingers crossed that no one else in the family gets Covid!! No wonder you just want to pound your head on your desk all day! Yes, we have suggested to MIL that she plant something else, but no way!! I know lots of people that leave their Dahlias in the ground all winter and if they come up, then great, if they don't, well go to the nursery and get some more. It's not like they can't afford them. We have all given up and just do the work now. Where is our whip smiley LOL.

@LSlycord - Linda I am sorry you are feeling Joyless! The news is just so hard to bear! Wow 20 showings!! Yup that is a lot of having to get of the house that is for sure! I hope that things come together for you soon!

@bcgal00 - Hope that Remi is feeling much better now! Woo Hoo on the great weight loss! Hope your cookies turned out yummy and you will be happy to have Jenn back home with you I am sure! So nice that she is happy there with you!

Well I better get my back pack ready to go and I will catch up with everyone tomorrow or maybe later today, we will see what happens with the weather today. Supposed to have a scheduled power outage for 2 hours between 10am- noon. So would not be able to be on the computer then anyway. Keep your fingers crossed for some sunshine for us today. Although I am sure you all have more pressing things to think about LOL.

Good morning ladies. I'm heading out this morning for a haircut...long overdue. Its been about 4 months. Last night I made keto brownies that were ok but a bit dry so will pick up some whipped cream today for them. Need more cauli rice today to have with chicken tonight. It's nice that all the major amenities are close to us, all within a 2-3 minute drive. There are a few bigger malls and lots more stores on the south shore but I've discovered that almost everything we need is here on the north shore within a few minutes drive. Jen's appliances came yesterday so she was thrilled to see them when she got home. She need a stacker bracket for them which the store didn't tell her but hopefully that'll be easy to get. They got home just after 8 last night and we hopped in the tub for a bit and then had our dessert. She was very glad to get home, not enjoying her trip to the coast at all.

I picked out 3 photos for a frame collage and now will pick out 6 for a few more collage frames. Its a difficult chore, going thru photos and deciding but I decided to just search a bit and choose, not to keep going back and forth, otherwise it won't get done.

I have been searching and decided on a lens I want. I don't really need it but I figure I deserve it as I haven't bought any photography stuff for quite awhile. I ordered a 200-500 mm lens. It's 150 mm longer reach than my other long range zoom. I like my p950 for the long focal length it has but the quality just isn't quite as good as my dslr and the tracking is nowhere as good, so bit the bullet and ordered the lens. I can't wait to get it next week.

Since we know that many neighbors take their dogs down to the dog park at the end of the block around 4ish, we'll go down there today. It'll be nice for the dogs to start getting to know the neighborhood dogs.

@faerywings Sorry to hear about C having covid. Hope the rest of you stay healthy. Hope her symptoms pass quickly.

@LSlycord I know what a hassle it is to show the house. Even a few days for us was too much disruption, especially when you have dogs. I hope it sells or if you take a breather, it revs you up to try again soon. Good luck.

@taxed4ever Hope the weather clears so you can go hiking.

I'd better go and get a few things done before heading out.

My heart is aching over the shooting in Uvalde. Those precious little ones...

Oh, @faerywings - Chris... so sorry to hear that Cait has Covid!! Timing couldn't be worse!!! <<< hugs to both you and her >>>
No suggestions about what to say to your Mom but to reassure her that she will be feeling better once her body adjusts to the pacemaker. Wouldn't push her about going out... she will go when she decides she wants/needs to go. You and her sister have given her the information to allay her fears - it may take time for her to take it all in. Maybe you can suggest to your dad to talk your mom's doctor about a mild anti-deps for her.

@LSlycord - WOW that is a lot of showings. Hope you get a contract soon. Don't blame you for thinking about pulling it off the market if something doesn't happen soon. Seems like the family has been in a state of flux for a long time. It would be nice to get back to "normal" again.

@taxed4ever You guys are so good to let MiL have her way about her garden. I know it is a PITA to have to replant it the way she wants... but you are wonderful to do it for her. Glad you finally were able to get part of the yard debris cleaned up! That was a lot. Sounds like whole area got hit hard. Glad you got the porch sets back out and ready to use. Bet you can use it to rest and recuperate from all the work you and Gary have been doing.

@Cherylndesigns So sorry the girls had such a hard trip home but glad they made it okay. You were so sweet to stay up and call them as they traveled. Hope you got enough rest after they got home. Way to go on getting some of the plants where you want them. I am hand-watering the bulbs I planted to make sure the soil doesn't dry out from the hot weather. The good thing is that the temps were only in the low 70's the past few days... but will be in the 80's again by the weekend.

I got quite a shock/surprise this morning. Got on the computer and suddenly had a loud noise from the computer speakers. I jumped like I had been shot. I had turned the speakers all the way up yesterday. Don't know what happened but the sound/speakers are working today. Jumped over to You Tube to check it out and YES!!! it working like it should! I know I should switch over to DH's computer but need to make sure I can access the ExHD where all my scrapping and photos will be. Just too tired to think about doing it right now.

I am really bummed... can't get any of the yard guys to return my calls. Guess they are all swamped with work. May end up having to call one of the big landscaping/yard companies and hope they can find time to come. In the meantime, I will have to respray the weeds..... if the winds will quit blowing. Can't spray when they are 30+ mph with gust even higher!

Positive thinking now @faerywings take turns in the family to have covid & you won't have to host/go to all the family gatherings in May/June. Y'all can just have celebrations with Mr & Mrs Braxton.

Tea was amazing & I hope I got some decent photos even though I didn't get to see many animals & the sun was all gone behind huge clouds.

Super tired, good thing tomorrow is a holiday here in Sweden. We get to sleep in. The planfor tonight is movie & snacks. If we can agree on a movie. Urban has such weird taste when it comes to movies. LOL

Good morning lovelies.

I'm really down in the dumps over the shooting too. Just can't stop thinking about it.

Chris @faerywings sorry Cait has covid - will that EVER stop??? I feel like banging MY head now. Yes, the girls were exhausted, but they made it and probably way ahead of when they'd have gotten here had they flown. You seem a bit more relaxed over your mom. You got some good advice from us, huh? #clap

Kay @BrightEyes so glad the computer is working again. I can just see you jumping at that loud noise. I would have too! I was happy to keep calling the girls throughout the night - I know how brutal driving all night is. They said the last couple of hours were the worse. I used to drive by myself back and forth from Florida to Michigan - I usually drove straight through. I was a little crazy back then. I'd pull into a rest park and sleep for a couple of hours. Back in the good old days, everybody did that. There were no shenanigans - everybody was sleeping. I'd be afraid to do that now. Too many crazies out there. Yes, I was tired and am really tired today - it always hits me the 2nd day. I was happy to keep calling them - and they sure appreciated it. I'd say "This is your stay awake call". Hahaha

I need to get ready for Casey to come clean. My office is a mess, as usual. I just can't seem to keep it under control.

I'll try to check in later.

Oh boy @faerywings you definitely didn't knock hard enough. Maybe it was wood veneer? ;) Good on you for doing a test though. Hope Cait gets better soon and you manage to fend it off. Somehow I am STILL the last woman standing in our household. Good luck x

@Cherylndesigns Michigan to Florida would have been quite a haul. But you are right, things were different for sure! And, by the time a person sits around in airports, it really is almost faster to drive yourself.

@bcgal00 sounds like you are really starting to settle in! Love that most of what you need is nearby. And, yes, showing a house with two dogs to wrangle isn’t easy.
