Daily Ooo's: Wednesday, March 7: I HATE Snow Edition

Yeah, yeah-- you all knew that was coming.

Everything is closed up tight in NJ. Our Governor declared a State of Emergency, Schools are closed, even Caitlyn's school is closed, believe it or not. As for snow totals-- we could be getting anywhere from 12-16" Yay.
I am nervous, we missed the power outages from the Friday storm and there are still outages from that in town. One main road was only just opened last night. At any rate, we skated by last week, and that worries me that we won't be so lucky this time around. I asked Gary to check the generator yesterday but he forgot. I reminded him again to do it early this morning, but he hasn't yet. When do I need to go from asking to nagging? :wait3:
I had to run a load of laundry late last night and I want to run the dishwasher this morning. Gather candles. Just to be safe.

I had a good, long conversation with the dog trainer. She is a doll, and very helpful. I took 3 pages of notes. We discussed resource guarding, impulse control, and went over dog body language again. I remember how well she "read" Jaida 2 years ago and am looking forward to getting W into her Obedience class in the spring.

I also spoke with my mom. We were supposed to be going to PA this weekend but we canceled it for the time being. That house got a foot of snow over the weekend and are expecting about this same today. The house it up on a hill. The driveway is gravel so even when it gets plowed well, it never gets all the way down to the ground. Snow turns to ice and then you all know how that goes with the cars unable to get up. She also got a notice that there was a water main break on her street yesterday. Estimated time of repair was Friday- but that was before the snow, so who knows when it might actually get done? It didn't make sense to go up there if we can't even brush our teeth without having to boil water.

Today is going to be a day of cursing at the snow and shoveling an area for the dogs to pee. I feel my Tindamax headache coming on too. Blech.
(Yeah, I am Miss Cranky Pants today :pound:)

May your days be more exciting-- only in good ways- than mine.

Nancy- hope that the snow isn't as bad by you as what we are expecting but any snow is bad in my book LOL
Stay warm!

Trudy- Was the pool less crowded yesterday? Hope that getting out and about and into the warm water helped lessen the stress and jaw clenching. Sorry to hear that you needed your mouthguard. I don't know what I will do if mine ever breaks.
Oh no! Hugs to Heather and the kiddos and Jonah. I hope that they all get better soon.

Felis- Same thing here, I can't stop thinking about Rae and Bailey. I love how close we all are and I would trade that for anything. But it is awful to be so far away and not be able to do anything to help.
Good luck with your trip to the Capital with your sister. Good for you getting some stuff to spoil yourself!
OMG- I was reading that quote and was thinking how wise it was-- then I realized that I said it. Bwahaha!! But yes, you are right to remind me and it is true.
Yes, the trainer suggested the same thing about adopted dogs in a multi-dog household will get into scuffles around 6 months in. She compared it to a guess that overstays his welcome. At first, J had to establish the rules but was being "polite" as W learned them. But now J is realized that yup, W is here for good and isn't always listening to the hierarchy. Add in some of the other issues that W has from her early life and this isn't uncommon. Yesterday they were fine again. Whew!

Rae- I understand your need to not chat/discuss what is going on and like Felis said, I will respect that. However, if you can pop in or text maybe Trudy, just to let us know if anything has changed... You are in my heart and it is hurting for you. I am hoping for a miracle too. Sending all of my love to you again and again.

Hean- hope that your day today is quieter than your day yesterday. But all good stuff and it must be so cool to know that you will be teaching at the library too

Morning ladies... I am off on my hike today, finally a half decent day, more rain coming tonight, but looks like a bit of sunshine today. Yesterday I spent the afternoon doing some more shopping for a pair of blue jeans and finally found a pair that fit me perfect :bliss: they were a good price too! I also found a cute little jacket and a sweet checkered shirt to wear with my jeans, the shopping gods were with me yesterday. Hoping that Heather and Hunter are still well today and that Jonah and Mason are much better also! Not sure if she will get a chance to facetime with me before I head out this morning or not.

Chris - OMG that is a lot of snow for you!! Good thing that they closed the schools, no one needs to be out in all that snow! Tell your Gary to get that generator ready!!! He won't want you to say "I told you so"!!! I really hope that you don't have to though and I will keep my fingers crossed for you that the power stays on! It will be a good day to just hunker down and keep warm, perhaps play a board game with the kids or watch a good movie together with some popcorn? Lets hope this is your last blast of winter! Yes the pool was fairly quiet yesterday and it seemed to help me feel good for the rest of the day! Glad to hear that the dogs have been getting along better, it will be great for you to get W to the trainer for some lessons! Stay warm and safe my faery friend and try to have a good day!

Felis - Yes isn't it wonderful that we are such a close knit group! I can't imagine starting everyday without coming here first! Hope that your trip to the capitol was good and always a good thing to treat yourself with a bit of a gift of any kind! Hope that the grocery shopping went well also, nice to have your Dad to chauffeur you around too!

Jean - I would love to see your tutorial for reading the DNA results from Ancestry! Nice that you got to enjoy a bit of sunshine too! Hope that the rumour of more snow for you is just that, a rumour!

Rae - Of course we all understand that you must be totally exhausted and overwhelmed with what is happening to your sweet angel! We are all praying in our own way for her and hoping for the best of course! Take your time with all of this my friend! Sending you all of our love and keeping you close to our hearts!

:hello: Nancy, hope you are not in the middle of a power outage! Keep warm and safe!

Well I better get dressed and get my backpack ready before Heather calls or I will be running late. Hope that you all have as good a day as you possibly can!

Good morning, ladies. I have good news. Bailey woke up. She is still very disoriented, incoherent (not speaking at all yet but able to nod her head a bit with a question) and we will go from there. Still no neuro report on the eeg so they need to see that and will be assessing to see what if any neuro damage there is. I had a moment that I will never forget last night. I sat at her bedside, my face about a foot from her's and softly told her it was me, grandma, everything is ok and she was able to lock focus on my face for a minute and the tears came and she started jerking and lurching her upper body from the bed, towards me. It scared me to death, thinking seizure, but no, she was trying to give me a kiss, her mouth was puckering. I will never forget that moment, our love, our bond. D and I have decided she will move in here and although Jen will probably keep her apartment, she will stay here too for some time. Jen and I can share responsibility for her care and treatment over the coming weeks and months. We will make plans as needed, when we are able to discuss with B we will let her know she will be taken care of and safe with us. I think she will come with us. But right now its about her recovering from this and we know she's not totally out of the woods yet and to what extent the damage is. But....one thing at a time.

So thank you all for your prayers, well wishes and thoughts. Its going to be a long road ahead but we are all going to try to help B if we can. I'm going to be at the hospital a lot for awhile but will keep you all updated.

I need to get some work done as of course my desk work has suffered greatly but my bosses know whats going on and are being very accommodating but it means I need to work whatever hours I am home in between hospital visits so things will be a bit crazy for awhile.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and hope to check in later today or tonight.

good morning - yesterday got away from me and now today it is very late morning before I am here. The Devils won their game over the Canadiens 6-4. It was great to see my team score and for it to be other than Taylor Hall. It was so fun to see my other players score and Taylor Hall continued his streak which is now up to 26 straight games in which he has scored a point. He has scored in every game in 2018. Came home and watched the Ducks defeat the Capitals. Adam Henrique scored and that is always fun to see that he too is doing well with his new team. And as far as the nor'easter goes we have gotten nothing. I mean yes rain but no snow. The weathermen are now saying that it will intensify during the after noon and over night and still saying 10 inches. But everything is closed today what a joke. Both my boys are home. My son is doing work via his computer and my DH's university is closed. Looks like for once NYC made the right decision not to close the schools. My DH took off yesterday too so Luther is happy so that I why I am so late. We had Luther out and the weather was the pits for me and Luther did not like being pelleted by small frozen rain pellets. But we are still hopeful for snow in the afternoon.

Chris so sorry for all the stress from the dogs. I am glad that Cait was there to calm you all down. And maybe Scott needs to learn how to do the generator is Gary won't do it. My son and DH can do ours so that is good but I guess I should know too in case they are not home. I hate shopping on Monday's as after the weekend shoppers there is nothing left. I find Tuesday the best stuff is restocked and fresh.

Trudy have fun on the hike. Did you see we defeated those Canadiens for you? LOL Hope Heather and her family are feeling better. No fun having everyone sick. Have you heard how the bus to school rides are going?

Felis yes it is fun how close we have become. It is so interesting to me to hear of your customs of your country. Have fun in the Capital with your sister.

Jean how great for you to be teaching a DNA Ancestry class at the Library. I would not mind know how to do that myself.

Rae of course we understand how you need time with family. Sending lots of love and hopes for a miracle.

Have a great day all!

Rae that is awesome news. I am so happy for you and your family! I know it will be a long process but I also know you have a lot of strength. Glad you got your miracle!

First, Rae, that moment last night must have felt exactly like a miracle! How incredible. It will be a long road but as mentioned, we know you are strong and have D's support. We'll keep thinking that miracle will grow into a big recovery. ::grouphug

Our day will be pretty quiet I think. Groceries now, bird club meeting tonight, gray day, may get some snow eventually but not like NJ. And the DNA class, someone else will be teaching, DH and I will just be helpers for one on one at the computers.

Chris, oh no, not that much snow! Well, at least the kids are home with the schools closed. Bummer about cancelling the weekend in PA. Fingers crossed the power stays on. Good news from your consult with the dog trainer. What a good thing it will be to get W in her class.

Trudy, how nice the pool was refreshing and you get to hike today. Sure hope DD has recovering sickies and not catching it herself. Am picturing you in the nice new duds with a big smile on finding them.

Nancy, good for the Devils on that win and all the scoring. Good luck with your weather. Glad you don't have to worry about the guys out in potentially nasty weather.

Felis, hope it was a good trip to the capital and your Dad is better.

I'll come back later (actually tomorrow morning :) ) with my regular post, girls, but now want only to say that:

YAY! about the good news about B! :high5:
On my language we have a saying: A stone fell away from my heart! I'm not sure if it exist in English either, but you'll see the meaning. So the feeling is exactly this. Hope more good news comes from the eeg, Rae!

And I realize that the last thing that you will think now is for sleep, but please force yourself! You wouldn't be really helpful if drop down from exhaustion!

Your trip was pretty nice. Meeting was short than we expected, so we had enough time to visit few cosmetics stores and found good deals for little gifts for us and mom, because at March 8th we celebrate International Women's Day. Which mean a little party. Traditionally women receive flowers, but cosmetics is more useful  !

Chris, I was almost ready to envy to you, because of all this pretty snow tale, but this for missed the power discouraged me. I hope you don't have a trouble! And send you a Spring from here :) ! Sorry to hear about the PA trip cancellation! Be cool  (sweet play of words) this is the last snow for this winter! And I like the Trudy's idea for spending snow day! This for dog trainer sounds very interesting to me! Especially when we can use only books or TV shows, but not real trainers except for working dogs. Hehe, yep, it tooks me awhile till found this quote, but I was remembered it and I known in which situation was said, so voala! I knowed it will be useful again :D .

Trudy, yay, for the jeans and other good stuff! So great that you finally can makes your hikes again! Hope that Heather's family is better and you have your facetime! I remember when I lived in other city and we talk with my sister every day, so when we missed at some reason I just feeled grumpy whole day.

Nancy, I'm so agree with you, this frozen rain makes my animals feels dejected. We are in spring yet, but I hope you to get one good last snow fun! Sounds fun your boys to be at home. Did this help to your son to organising his room better?!

Jean,so nice from your side to be helper at the DNA class! Hope the snow you'll get to not be much and library wouldn't be closed! Oh, yes dad is fine now, with just a cough, thanks for asking!

Rae, I already left you comment up so can add only more ::grouphug !

Jenn, hi there, happy to see you here! And thank you for your nice comment yesterday, about my LO with your kit, the pleasure is entire mine!

On March 8th don't forget to kiss and hug your mothers and daughters! Love you all!
