Well, I didn't need to go upstairs to check on Floyd this morning. We ended up having him euthanized yesterday afternoon. :(
When I went upstairs first thing yesterday morning, I couldn't find him. I peeked in Cait's room to see if he was there like he was the day before. But she had let him out a few hours earlier. I couldn't find him anywhere- I looked in all of the hiding spots Kibs used right before she died. All four of us ended up looking for him until Scott found him squished under the sofa. Gary was able to take him out and he went back up on the top of the sofa. He looked miserable but only Cait and I were ready to discuss putting him down. They came home from school around noon and he was even worse so we had to have a family discussion. Gary was still wanting to wait but after Floyd couldn't walk or drink water, he agreed it was time.
It was sad and hard and I feel a bit lost but because we knew this was coming it isn't a shock. The weird part is this is the first time my house has been cat-free in 26 years.

Ok, I am back...

So yeah, it was a tough day but I think everyone is feeling ok with the decision. It is funny that I know how I react every time- I make the appt, we bring the pet in, I have second thoughts-- s/he looks better! I cry and insist on "no more pets ever." The family looks at me as in yeah, right. Every. Darn. Time.

Today I have to go to PT and then either I am going to hibernate for the rest of the day or I am going to be an Adult and catch up on life. I know what I want to do and I know what I will attempt to do. And no one here will be surprised. hehe.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day and give some extra snuggles to your pets from me if you have one.

Jean- looks like it is going to be "warm" and sunny here too. I am happy to see you pop in, say hi. Enjoy your meeting and lunches!

Kay- I don't know how you do it, wake up in the middle of the night and get out of bed and "do" things. Your poor knees and back, I can't imagine crawling on the floor like that, you must be so sore. You have such a fabulous family, so happy that they are there to help you.

Nancy- WTG on that walk!!! I am so glad to hear that you can do that with no pain. Luther must be thrilled! The pics out of Nashville are heartbreaking. How did the Devils play last night?

Trudy- Aww how sweet to chat with both boys. I hope that they have enough snow days to cover all of the time they have off from school.

Rae- why am I not surprised that you got all of your work done? :D Man, I wish that I had that ability.
That stinks about the car parking situation. I hope that it doesn't get too bad but it doesn't sound like it. Poor Jen! I have no idea what gum grafting it but it sounds really rough. I hope that she is feeling better soon.

Kythe- yay!! Great news from the Dr!!!!! :high5:
That is a hard decision to make to leave CTs. Good luck with your choice.

Felis- Happy Liberation Day! I guess the US is lucky that our Independence day is in the summer ;)
That is so nice that you and the family were able to have good discussions together.
We are so lucky to have a family that wants to help us. I hope someday I can do the same for my kids. I said almost those same words to Floyd- told him to look for Kib/Heather and that he better *not* mess with Merlin. He used to be so mean to him.

Time to get rolling along with my day. xoxo

Morning ladies... it is sunny, but very cool this morning. I have lots to do today! I need to make a 50th anniversary card for my cousin. We are going to their anniversary party this weekend, it is a surprise for them that their kids are putting on. I made a set of coasters and a matching trivet to give them as a gift, so I need to resin those today too. I have some more behind the scene things to do here and I have to pop into the Hardware Store to pick up some more paint that is on sale right now. Today is our sweet little Sadie's Birthday!! Holy Cow she is 10 years old already!! How did that happen?? Looking forward to face timing with her later today! Soon both her and her brother will be on their way to Africa with their other grandparents, we are so excited for them! I have been asked to help out a bit with our upcoming school reunion, it will be for classes from 1971 to 1974, so a pretty big undertaking! I have been asked to collect the $ so I need to open an account and get someone else to co-sign with me, so my butt will be covered just in case someone thinks I am ripping them off LOL. Oh and I have to say that starting my painting over again was the best thing I did, it is looking so much better and I am very happy with it now!

Chris - How sad for your family to lose your Floyd!! I know how hard that decision is to make, but really the poor little guy must have been suffering and you did the kindest thing you could to help him! It is good that you all got to say your good-byes to him! I also know that strange feeling of not having a cat in house after so many years, we have always had cats in our family and not having any takes some getting used to. I hope that you can find some nice things to do today to keep your mind occupied!

Felis - Sounds like you had a lovely day with your family! How wonderful to have such a great conversation with everyone without any bickering or gossip telling! I am so happy for you!

Rae - I am not surprised either that you got so much accomplished yesterday! I can't say as I blame you for not wanting to work a 5 day work week! Sorry that you are having troubles with your neighbours parking in front of your house. We don't own the street, but it is just common courtesy to not to park in front of someone else's house!! We have the same problem here sometimes, but DH just parks his big old truck in front of their place when they are parked in his spot. I think they finally got the hint and no one seems to do it anymore. I suppose, the best thing to do is to talk to your neighbour about it. Poor Jen, not a nice procedure to have to get done. I have heard that it can be very painful! Give her a hug from me!! Hope you and Taz are out enjoying the sunshine today!

Kythe - What wonderful news! Hope you continue with your trainer!

Ok I better get going, lots to do and coupons to send out today too! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning, ladies. The sun is shining which just makes me feel good. I'm looking forward to a long walk at lunchtime with Taz. Today I've got desk work, editing baby shower pics, maybe get out in the garden for a few photos and want to finish up work early enough that I can sit upstairs after dinner and maybe scrap a bit.

I also want to start culling thru photos to pick 10 to send in for a contest. It's going to be hard to choose but from looking at some of the entries, the subjects are amazing (deer, bears, cougars, wolves, etc) so I'm going for personality, choosing my little squirrels and birds for my entries. It's a long shot, only 10 finalists chosen and I think only 1 or 2 winners but it'll be fun to enter anyway.

We got all caught up on Good Doctor last night, that is such a good show.

Chris - hugs. I know how hard it is. Keep busy. Even when you know it's time, it doesn't make it any easier.

Trudy - wow, Africa...what a trip for the kids! That is on my bucket list someday. Glad you are happy with your painting redo.

I'm getting to work now, the sooner I start, the sooner I finish today. Hope you all have a great day.

Another gray day but not too cold. This evening is the bird club meeting at which the talk will be about the 5+ years of bird surveys in which DH participated. That will be nice to hear.

Chris, big hugs to all of you after losing Floyd. ::grouphug And they really do let us know when it's time if they can. Hope you can veg out today.

Trudy, wonderful that the new version of the painting is making you happy. That's another big endeavor on the reunion too. Hope the classes weren't too big but the result will surely be great fun.

Rae, sometimes the personality photos have the greatest appeal, so hope that's true for your contest.

Wishing you all a good day.

Chris ::grouphug SO sorry!
Hugs for the whole family!

Because I could not stop for Death –
She kindly stopped for me –
The Carriage held but just Ourselves –
And Immortality.

We slowly drove – He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility.

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess – in the Ring –
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain –
We passed the Setting Sun,

Or rather – He passed Us –
The Dews drew quivering and Chill –
For only Gossamer, my Gown –
My Tippet – only Tulle.

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground –
The Roof was scarcely visible –
The Cornice – in the Ground.

Since then – 'tis Centuries – and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity .
