hellllooooooOOOOO lOvelies!
Guess what? I only saw the new babies for a few minutes-- only got to hold one of them- but already I am head over heels. They look adorable and social and sweet. They are hooded, with white bodies and grey/brown heads with some brown spots down their spines. I'll get some pics soon and scrap them. The first thing I said to Caitlyn after I oohed and ahhed a bit was that they aren't scary small. Mouse and Pigeon were terrifyingly tiny, we were nervous handling them. These girls are already "rat-shaped."
Cait and Tom didn't have any trouble driving, no unusual traffic or anything other than it was a long one. Tom looked exhausted at dinner, but I know he would do it again for Caitlyn if she asked.
The last day for the HS program was all upside down. What else is new? LOL. A large pine tree had fallen last week and it was blocking the trail I would have taken to get to the upper stream. The tree removal people were there all day so unless I wanted to go allll the way around the property, I had to bring the kids to the lower stream. It was fine, although we didn't find much. The morning field trip had already been through four times and I swear, the critters know to hide by the end of the day. I mean, who could blame them??? We found a very small newt, a pickerel frog, and a really cool case-building caddisfly larvae. The one boy who has a hard time keeping up had a hard time keeping up so that threw the last part of the day off.
The great news is that aside from a few aches and pains, my foot held up well. Maybe I am turning the corner for that--finally!
I am cleaning for my friend today and that is it for regular responsibilities. I have to figure out what we are doing about this house, however. It is being help together with bubblegum and duct tape and not much else. Everything in my life is being held together with bubblegum and duct tape!! My car, my bank account, my house, my body-- all of it.
The wooden beams that hold up the overhang on the patio are rotting and Gary had to build a support system for one of them yesterday. It's not permanent, not by a long shot. But we need to hire someone to redo the front patio/steps and the overhang and then I look at my bank account, see all of the bubblegum and duct tape and not sure how we are going to wing it. My car goes in the shop tomorrow, so let me figure that out first and hope for the best!
Any good thoughts are appreciated!
PS: The June AJ challenge topic is exactly what I need this month. I started to scrap a LO for week two so that will be a good plan for this afternoon.
Have a fabulous day!
