Deep breaths--- yes, it is *still* June.
How the heck did that happen? I wouldn't say that May went by fast, but it went by "weird." At least it "went." LOL

I finally feel like today is going to be a semi-normal day. I am picking up groceries and then popping into the pharmacy next door, to "pick up an order." (ETA: Got an automated call saying I had an order ready. That is all I know). The only thing it can be is the test kits that I ordered through my insurance company but they had called and said there were none available and they don't hold the kits when they are in stock? *shrugs* If they are there, they are there. If not... we have some that I picked up for Gary. Then I am going to test and if all is good, I am cleaning for my neighbor. He won't be home so it's not a problem but I want to be safe.

Even though it was hot yesterday, I spent another couple of hours outside. I weeded along the hedges between my house and my neighbors and transplanted some ferns from one area next to the house to under the hedges. They must have seen me out there b/c they texted Gary how much they appreciated that I was making our yards look pretty in the sweltering heat. Sure it was 91* and probably 90% humidity but it doesn't bother me. I asked Scott how he was holding up out here and he said he was dealing with it, but knew that I was loving it. Yes, I was. *grin*
I texted him to say hi and see how things were going, and it was nice-- he called me back and we had a good talk. He was hiking at one of his parks so had some time. I think he is coming home tomorrow night or Friday morning as long as I am still negative. I am so grateful that his friends let him crash there, they all had Covid during the initial Omicron/Christmas wave so it was a safe place for all of them. They even had a small surprise b-day party for him one night :)

(I am happy he is happy but dang I miss him here. I am going to have to get used to this, aren't I?)

Not so good news from my dad. I am going to text him in a little while for more info. He lost all of the hearing in one of his ears (tinnitus in one ear and hearing loss in the other --not sure which ear was affected). He went to his ear dr and there is nothing physically wrong- no earwax/infection that is causing it. That sucks. The hearing loss in one, (maybe both, I am not sure) can't be helped with hearing aids so he is very upset according to my mom. :(

I'll finish up my ramblings with some good news- Sarah and her baby are doing great and will be coming home today <3

@LSlycord Yay for short weeks! I thought today was Friday heh
So sorry that you are pulling the listing. But it sounds like it was more aggravation than it was worth at this time. Like you said, it will be so much nicer just enjoying the kids this summer.

@BrightEyes OMG- The wind was that loud, you couldn't hear the TV! How is it today?
If Cait hadn't tested, I am sure we would have assumed that it was just a really bad cold for her and Gary too. I hope that DD#3 tests to be on the safe side. I also hope that she is feeling better by now. Cait feels fine. Gary is still struggling but he is also dealing with some out-of-control blood sugar and Lyme stuff.
Really good that you didn't go to the movies! It's just not worth it. :(

@taxed4ever My feet are very, very jealous of your feet!! What color are your toes? A full spa package sounds like absolute heaven ATM!! I understand wanting to wait--- My two cents-- Caitlyn bought a UV/gel nail kit- she wanted to get a manicure before graduation but it was cheaper to get the kit. She let me try it out and after three long days of gardening-- no chips. Sometimes, I use the Sally Hansen gel polish but this is way better. I can tell in just the last few days my nails are growing out.
Isn't that the truth-I want the house to myself and I sort of have it... It isn't the same though, knowing there are still around, still need to be fed. LOL
are Heather and the boys feeling better and back to school?

@bcgal00 ((((((((hugs)))))))))) hope that the dentist was as good as can be hoped for.

@tanteva That sounds fascinating to look for your Grandpa, how far are you from Stockholm? Is it a day trip?

@Cherylndesigns Oh yuck, sorry that you had a problem with your computer update. Are you using Firefox? If you go into your settings, look for the Zoom settings, you can have it zoom everything or just text. although it sounds like it is more than your browser. Other than system restore or *gulps* a factory reset, I have no advice. Sending good luck vibes. Updates are awful.

@tanteva That sounds fascinating to look for your Grandpa, how far are you from Stockholm? Is it a day trip?

It's about 4 hr drive one way, but yes, it will be a day trip. A looong day. But I have no work next week, so no problem for me, I can sleep all Thursday. But we're not sure if we'll go next week yet. Urban have to find out if he can take the Wednesday off. There's a baby on the way ... no, not for us LOL ... a work mate's wife is due any day now. So I guess there might be some sudden changes in the schedule.

Been googling about WWII and Sweden all morning. The stories I've heard in the family about grandpa's whereabouts during the war has never made sense to me, but some stuff I read today, made them more sensible. We'll see. Read somewhere too, that it can be really hard to find out about these camps, since the records often have been destroyed. Basically, Sweden were turncoats during the war, and when the wind changed in the war, so did we & lots of stuff done needed to be covered up.

Nevermind, I just want to know where my granddad were during the war, and why he was taken from his family, and my dad almost starved to death.

That's one of the most fascinating things about genealogy. There are so many things happening along the way in many of your ancestor's life, that just as easily could have made you not being born at all. I mean, my dad almost starved to death when he was 5, and my mom had tuberculosis when she was 2. And that's just one generation back. Imagine all the near deaths you have centuries back! Life is given to you by a series of miracles. This is my best lesson from genealogy.

So ... new month! Which for me means:
1. I can eat candy again!!!! (we had no candy allowed during May)
2. I can't buy any digiscrapping supplies for the entire month

June also means first month of summer ..... that is not shown today! Rain and not very warm. For the last 2 years I sort of missed the summer. Didn't do much and was at home (basically inside) all the time. Have decided that I will NOT miss out of summer this year, but the price of gas will not allow us to do any longer trips. We'll see.

Good morning ladies. Today I've got blood work to do and this afternoon we have a bank appt to open a new account. We'll keep our Vancouver bank b/c we have RRSP's and stuff with them but will have a local acct for when we need bank transfers, etc, where you need to go in to get them. Eventually we'll probably pull all our accounts out of Vancouver but won't worry right now about it.

I saw that my new lens may come today or tomorrow and if not, they recommend getting a refund. Ugh. Fingers crossed.

Today I want to go thru some office boxes but won't get much done with being out of the house so much today. We had rain yesterday, it sure seemed weird LOL. It rained heavy for an hour and then a sprinkle for about 5 hrs. That was their "big storm". Back to dry skies now.

Made a coleslaw/hamburger casserole last night and it was good but I didn't have any cayenne pepper so will stop to pick some up today to add into the second half of the batch.

@faerywings Glad you got out in the yard and got your dirt therapy. Your poor dad. If they don't know the cause of the hearing loss, then maybe it'll improve?

@tanteva Yes, the price of gas is affecting all of us. Makes us think about any trips and if they are worth it.

I'm getting a coffee and getting some digi stuff done before I head out for my blood work.

Good morning all,

I'm up early, for me. My feet started cramping this am and when that happens I just get up.

Chris @faerywings I did two resets back to early points and it's better, but still not so big. I don't use Firefox as my main search engine - I use a private search engine. I have things back to as close to normal as I can get them. I couldn't even respond to any posts on FB yesterday. I hate these updates and I'm going to figure out how to stop them when I get a minute - that's very time consuming - I figured out how to go into DOS and stop that dreaded 11 from updating, but now 10 is giving everybody grief. I saw SO many people complaining about it so I'm not alone. Microsoft sucks!!!

I'm going to be in and out today - hopefully, I can pop back in here later. Have a good June 1st!

Morning ladies... off to my hike in a couple of minutes so have to make this quick! The group is now on their summer hours so that means they leave a half hour earlier. I guess to beat the heat of the day, but man we haven't had much of that lately LOL. However today is supposed to be a bit warmer. Nice that I don't have to dress in layers or bring my raincoat today! Anyway I have to be home no later than 2pm as we have a guy coming to give us an estimate on a new Phantom Screen door and a couple of screens for the living room windows. The screen door is for the upper deck just off the kitchen, we sit out there quite a bit when the weather is nice. Anyway I just wanted to pop in quickly to say good morning and wish you all a wonderful day! I hope to get some catching up done later on today. I still need to get coupons out to the challenge winners etc. I am sadly very far behind in my CheeryO duties! Ok gotta run!!

So glad to see June has arrived!! Hope it is a better month than May was! Yes, still dealing with smoke from fires and high winds but not quite as bad as they were over the weekend. I was able to open the house up for a couple of hours but the wind is starting up again so closed everything back up. Just got a call from the yard people asking to delay the estimate until Friday morning. Had no problem with moving it 1 day later. Glad they called to check and let me know.

Been as busy as a cat on a hot tin roof this morning. Always busy with CT stuff on the 1st of each month. Now, I can take a deep breath and enjoy my cup of coffee! Expecting a couple of return calls from 1) my banker and from 2) the roofing co about paying for the repairs.

@faerywings Glad you got some outdoor time... I know that improves you mood so much. And a nice phone chat with Scott was a bonus. BTW, thanks for the quick answer to my question. ;)

@taxed4ever Hope you have a good hike and get back in plenty of time for the appt.

@Cherylndesigns UGH>>> so sorry about the problems with the Win10 update. I got an update last week (wasn't able to stop it) but so far not having problems with it. Hope you can get it set back to where it was before the update. Which reminds me... I need to do another back-up to ExHD ASAP.

I did get my errands ran yesterday but didn't get any fresh fruit and veggies... so may do that later on today.
Oppps... call coming in. BBL

Kay, I know some of us have been struggling with these obnoxious updates! I set it back twice and it's still not like it was, but it's better. Almost everything I open, I have to reduce the size to make it fit. I've tried to redo my settings, but they're okay - I don't see anything out of line. UGGGHHH I wish MS would keep their mitts off our computers!! My goal for the next two days is to figure out how to STOP all of them. I've been watching some YouTube videos and want to get it stopped before it updates again. #mad#angry2

Good evening lovely ladies. It has been one of those days...but we did get some good news. Shaun now has an appointment at Mayo Clinic in 3 weeks.

@faerywings I am so sorry to hear about your dad.

@tanteva I hope you uncover some mysteries for your grandfather. Eating candy again...hopefully that will offset some of the pain for not buying digiscrapping supplies.

@BrightEyes I really hope that the fires end soon. It's June 1 here and that kicks off the hurricane season. Fingers crossed we have no events this season.

Oh Chris @faerywings I totally missed the post about your dad!! I'm so sorry! Chuck was real sick about 3 years ago (I believe he had covid before we knew what it was) and he lost most of his hearing during the 2 weeks he was sick. He was in the hospital for a week and we were really worried about him. Anyway, his was very mysterious too and it's gotten steadily worse. He can't hear at all now without his hearing aids in. Roger can't hear either, so they're a good pair.

Linda, @LSlycord that IS good news about Shaun - poor kid - I hope they figure out what's going on with him!
