7 am and I am sweating my butt off. I just downed 2 mugs of coffee and am sitting in my office area with the window closed. For me to open and close the window, I have to stand on my desk so this time of year, it easier to just sweat a little. It is already 72* and 90% humidity. It is def. July weather.

My parents were so happy and excited when they saw Cait's ring and heard the news. Scott was able to take his lunch break while they were here and visited, he hadn't seen my parents in over a month-- that is long for us.
I am going to my BFF's mom's apartment, she is being moved from the regular housing area of a 55+ community into the assisted living section. She has a gorgeous 2 BR, 2 bath apt and has to scale down a lot. We are going to pack up the kitchen today. I wish I could do more than that but I guess it is what it is.

not much else to tell!
HAGD!

@tanteva What is the subject matter of Urban's new book?
We watched some of Sense 8 and I can't remember if we finished the first season, I think we did - but decided to give it up. It was a bit toooo trippy and we couldn't figure it out, made my brain hurt at the end of the day.
Hope you get to IKEA soon!

@taxed4ever How exciting to have your appts all set to go before you go on vacation. A spa day sounds divine.
Yikes-- the bank robbers sound like they lost their minds. :(
No idea what started the fire, thankfully it wasn't that bad. As we were watching the firefighters you could see the difference in how they moved. When the house burned down across the street 3 years ago, it went up so fast and the firefighters were moving non-stop.

@BrightEyes wish I could help with the EHD info, that's the kind of stuff I go to my adorable IT Guy for.
hahahaha!! That is so funny that your DD didn't know which house was yours w/o the yucca. My BIL's house has a new porch and I did a double-take, thinking I wasn't in the right place. She must have been disoriented for a second.

@bcgal00 Hope you are feeling more rested today. I am glad to hear that you like the ST finale, I keep hearing mixed reviews but we tend to like the same shows and books so I will most likely enjoy it too.
I would *not* say that Scott is perfect -- the stories he tells of how he behaved in HS...   But he has turned out to be pretty awesome

@Cherylndesigns It really doesn't seem to take much to throw me off balance but a fire next door?? sheesh.
At dinner, Caitlyn was asking for our advice on wedding planning and that was fun.
What a neat project for you and Casey to work on, have fun!

Kay- so glad that Best Buy did such a fantastic job with getting you the right EHD and all of the support you need. (I still say my IT Guy is cuter LOL)

Big day at our house! I have signed up for Medicare (which won't start until 10/1 but you sign up 3 months in advance) which is not quite as exciting as I had hoped. And we leave right after work to head to UF because Preview starts at 7:45 tomorrow morning. Oh my... And if those aren't bookends...Medicare and sending daughter off to college...I sure don't know what would be.

I'm taking the laptop tonight so I can do some scrapping while we sit around the hotel...we will see if that happens.

The new book is a sequel to the last. First book was about the 1700s and this one will be about the 1800s. Not sure I mentioned what the first one was about, but it's about the history of roma/travelers/tinkers/gypsy/whatshamacallit people in Sweden. It's sort of a spin-off from his genealogy research.

Sense 8 IS weird - that's why we love it. Pity it's only 2 seasons. On the other hand - season 3 of all series I've ever watched is crap LOL

Plan now is IKEA tomorrow. We'll see. There's a street festival in our town tonight. 5 Wednesdays every year in July/August it's "Orsayran" - lots of musicians all over town, and lots of people and fun. It's back tonight after 2 years hiatus due to the pandemic. We haven't decided if we're going yet, but if we do, and we have too much fun, we might not go to IKEA tomorrow.

Vacation this year is strange - we have no plans. Usually we have one or two road trips planned, but everything's so expensive this year.

Good morning ladies. We take the car in this morning for an estimate for repairs. The house is quiet without Bella and Jen here. She'll be back tomorrow night or Friday morning, depends on how her shoulder feels after the cortisone shot she is getting. Her shoulder never healed completely from her car accident years ago and they finally are taking a scan of it and giving her a shot.

I had homemade sloppy joes last night. That was good, haven't had it in years. Tonight is baked chicken, broccoli and cauliflower with parmesan spice, onion salt and a bit of creole spice. Quiet day of puttering ahead.

@faerywings Yes, I can imagine your parents' excitement yesterday! Hope it isn't too much work getting your friend's mom packed up.

@LSlycord Good idea to bring your laptop.

@tanteva Enjoy the festival if you go. Sounds fun.

I'm getting another coffee and will get started on chores soon.

Morning, gals. I am doing a lot of thinking about how much scrapping I want/need to do until I get the new HD up and working. Don't want to put anything else on one I have now as it is full to the max! And so is the internal hard drive on the computer. Going to take a close look at what is on the computer and see what I can delete that I already have stored elsewhere.

Have a couple of errands to run that I didn't get done yesterday. Need to take books back to the library, do a stop at the bank and return an item I bought yesterday that doesn't fit right. Need to put the knee brace back on today as the knee is aching from all the running around I did yesterday. Suppose to be fairly nice today but increasing chances of rain again the rest of the week. We had heavy winds late afternoon/evening yesterday... then thunder/lightening. One lightening strike was nearby just north of my house. Yikes... I saw it come down and flinched back from the patio doorway. DD#3 told me that the house across the street from them was hit with lightening about 2 weeks ago.

@faerywings so sorry you are it is too difficult for you to open the window in your office - so you are suffering from the heat and humidity! But you are wise to not be climbing up on your desk to get to the window. My office desk and file cabinets are in front of the windows, too. I have a very small space where I can reach 1 of the windows (actually can only reach 1/4 of the window) to open it - so it very seldom gets opened. Thank heavens for the new ceiling fan/light that I had put in a few months ago. That keeps the air moving so it is usually comfortable.

@bcgal00 Hope the estimate on the car repair isn't too expensive and that most is covered by insurance. I bet it is quiet with Jen and Bella gone. I haven't made sloppy Joes in a long time... may have to make some as that has my mouth watering.

Time to get the errands run before it gets too hot.

Morning ladies... I am quickly in and out of here this morning! Hunter called me first thing this morning and is now on meds for an ear infection, poor little man! Hope he feels much better by his birthday! Anyway talking with him, put me behind schedule to get out the door to my hike. Thankfully it is pretty close to home. Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone! I hope you all have a fabulous day! I will catch up with you tomorrow!

Good afternoon lovelies.

I did it again - stayed logged on here all night. LOL It's like "does she ever sleep?" Hahaha

I DO sleep - not "normal hours" maybe, but I get about 8 hours of sleep most nights. Roger teases me relentlessly about how late I stay up - they can see my "office" from their bedroom. My office was an add-on to the back of the house, so I can't get away with anything.

Chris @faerywings good luck packing up for the move - I hope her mom is not sad about it. Do you not have AC or is broken? I can't remember - I seem to remember that it was not working. I am a mean, mean bear when I don't have AC and they're predicting rolling brown/black outs which I'm so fearful of! It's so freaking hot here - over 100 the last few days. Casey says it's normal for about 2 weeks. UGH We have another week to go. Good news, they're digging Adrienne's pool!! They say they'll have it all done in about a month! They weren't sure if they could get it in this quickly, but they're up there working. I was thinking about getting an above ground pool, but heck no not since they'll have one and they're going to leave it open as long as the weather is decent. We had a very warm Dec and pretty decent Jan last year and the pool will be heated.

I did a pre-release already this morning and finished another one last night. I'd better get busy and see what I need to do.

XOXO
