Good morning and a Happy Hump Day to you!
I am on Day Three of the To-Do List Challenge and so far, I am doing pretty good. Not perfect but good. It is a start. Unfortunately, I was in a crummy, somewhat irritable mood most of the day. The flip side is that I started on the Jan. Art Journaling Challenge, channeling some of that into the page. I ran out of time to finish it yesterday so I want to work on that today.

Good news-- I also called the vet to cancel the surgery that was scheduled for Jaida. The growth in her ear went away. About a month ago, Gary took her to the vet for vomiting but also found a bump on the edge of her ear canal. The vet said that it was most likely benign but because surgeries were backed up to make an appt and cancel if it went away. He has a French accent and Gary had a hard time understanding what he called the lump so I don't have a clue what it is or if it will come back. But for now-- it is gone. Whew.

No plans today other than more housework, decluttering of my computer, and desk. I also need to call the dentist to reschedule my cleaning (again). It is next week and NJ is still having a huge amount of new daily cases. It's not worth it for me or the dentist to go in at this point. I can wait.

Anyone have any exciting stuff happening? Let me live vicariously through you. Just don't tell me how warm it is by you, I don't want to get too jealous. Trina- you can tell me how cold it is, however. Then I can feel like the temps could be a lot worse LOL

xoxo

Nothing too exciting here. Had planned to take Jeonia to Orlando to the airport but her flight was cancelled...they think they can get her out tomorrow. Craziness! I told her that we were either going to the beach or up to Savannah and devote our day to fun.

@LSlycord I do that sometimes too- I can check in here as a reward for housework.

@BrightEyes ROTF about getting the Heat Wave song in your head. I should sing the same thing, it is 25* this morning, 10* more than yesterday at this time. Did you sleep any later this morning?
You should see Braxton's family now. The new friend is wearing an enormous sombrero- it fits *both* heads!
Did DS#2's power come back on yet?

@taxed4ever Yikes, you must get nervous with your Gary out on the slippery roads so early. Looks like we are getting ice this morning so I am relieved that my family is able to stay home. (the one tiny benefit of everyone being unemployed/disabled:eek:;))
What did you make for Wendy? My mom's 80th is Saturday and I have nothing for her. We are;t doing anything together either. They thought they might come up with bagels but Scott is not ready for that- LL was almost always here for that too. Covid is also a concern so we are going to wait. But I don't even have a gift idea for her.
Good for you to get some recipe ideas going, especially so he can grab breakfast on his own.
I love the Grocery and Planner lists by Manu! TFS
haha!! Patience is a good word.

@bcgal00 How did you guys do at the supermarket yesterday? I hope that D isn't like my DH who will throw in junk food, usually chocolate donuts, when I am not looking.
bet the pups had a wonderful time running around after each other at the park. Hope that your back isn't acting up after all of the desk work yesterday. *gentle hugs*

@mom2triplets04 Whisky needed so much attention when we first rescued her. It was always stressful being around her, you never knew when the switch in her brain was going to flip and how she was going to act/attack. We all have a few scars from getting bitten. It is a good idea to take breaks, they definitely sense that stress and seem to feed off of it.
I make turkey meatballs in the oven too. Mine never look as pretty as those do in the photo though LOL

Since you and Eva don't use onions, what spices do you use?

@tanteva Mmmm, the bianca pizza sounds delish! I bet caramelized onion would be a good switch on occasion too. I would use spinach over kale, but that is just me, I adore spinach.
Good for you being lazy, you deserve it- good to chill out when you are feeling stressed. Too often, people (me) try to push through and will make a bigger mess of things :/

@Kythe Have you gotten any pictures of the hummingbirds? Good luck with keeping everything warm for them, it can't be an easy task.
I am feeling the same, seasonal depression, covid fatigue, holiday stress are all piling up. I keep reminding myself that the days are getting longer again- it is one positive thing to focus on. Take your time getting everything done and put away if trying to do it is more stressful.
We had spaghetti and meatballs/fake meatballs the other night and I am not crazy about that either. I know there are things in the back of my freezer that have been in there way too long too.
I am sorry that the condo stuff is still unsettled.

@Cherylndesigns Send some of that 47* heat this way! hahahaha!!! I don't think I could ever move somewhere colder if I was in FL. But you have lived in colder places too.
Oh thank you for the reminder--I think we still have the outside water turned on too. We were very spoiled in Dec that the temps were warmer than usual but now they are where they usually are, below freezing. Vent away at the weather, I am glad to have company!!
Aww, Daisy must be so cute staring out the window. J loves to sit on the sofa with her head resting on the back of it gazing at the birds. Her face gets all smooshed up.
That is what my friend told me about the horse tooth and that he would reglue it.
I cleaned a house for a hunter and Caitlyn refused to clean his office where he had a lot of heads mounted. I didn't like it either but had no choice but to go in there. I did a lot of grimacing *G*
I pulled out the SAD light this morning too. I need to get into a better routine with it.

@LSlycord That is good that the kids have enough room in classrooms. Cait heard through her internship that her school is considering remote for the first two weeks of the semester but they don't; go back until the 20th so there's time for things to change (For the better?? Who the heck knows???)

Laura- good luck to you and Myla with puppy daycare! Maybe she will burn off some extra energy and that will help. I know that Nancy always said how her Sheppard, Luther, came home exhausted after having so much fun where he went.

@nancyr hope all of well, we miss you and Luther!

Decided to post early today... since I was up before it got light. Chris, I won't mention how warm it got up to yesterday - but I ended up taking my jacket off as I ran errands yesterday. ;) I had my sweatshirt on so was comfortable. I returned the library books, mail some bills, donated 2 sacks of books to the Senior Citizen Center library, paid my AAA membership and stopped at the Literary book store and came home with 5 more DVDs. They were so nice there... took me back into the store room and let me look through the boxes of DVDs there and I found 2 that I wanted. Won't need to go back for a month or so since I have seen what they have. Every one was masked and trying to keep their distance but I was glad to be back home. Was too tired to cook so made a chicken, apple, pecan and mayo salad sandwich on oak bread for supper. It was so good! Realized that I have eaten up all the apple crisp desserts I had in the freezer - so it is time to make another batch. :D

@faerywings I nearly spit out my coffee when I read about the huge sombrero for the GF!!! I swear you have a great sense of humor and lots of crazy accessories for Braxton and the crew! Hope it warms up in your area soon. Yes, getting the SADD light out should help since it has been so gray and gloomy. DSon#2 had the off and on again power going on most of one day but it is finally back on to stay, he hopes.

@Kythe I was hoping the condo sale/no sale had been settled by now. YIKES!!! Those prices are terrible! Don't know how anyone could afford to buy there now.

@Cherylndesigns So sorry you forgot about the outside water line and that it ruptured... I put the covers over my outside faucets when we got the first freeze way back in Oct since all the trees and plants are on the drip-system. I bet you are missing the FL heat in the winter. Yes, it takes time to adjust to having cold weather after living in FL. So glad you have a friend bringing you some lovely branches and things.

The coffee cup is empty... will stop back later.

Good morning oozies.

Yes, I'm up! I don't know what's going on with me! I got up so early yesterday that I took sunrise pics - I probably already told you that. LOL It's such a rarity for me, but seems to be my new norm. I've NEVER been an early riser, at least not unless I HAD to like when I was working, etc. I never liked it, though.

I think I'm better today - it's supposed to be in the middle 40's today and warming up from there. I was just really out of sorts yesterday - I could not get warm. Turned on my SAD light right after I posted in here and it was on all day. I guess they DO help. I have to tell you all that we had the most beautiful sunset yesterday! It was actually warmed up and I went outside, in my sweatshirt, to take pictures. It really brought me back to my norm. LOL - sunrise pics and sunset pics in the same day. What's this world coming to???

Chris @faerywings glad the growth is gone - that's great! I had to laugh about Gary not understanding the vet. Chuck can't hear very well and he has trouble understanding anybody. He keeps forgetting to put his hearing aids in. I don't think he WANTS to hear sometimes. Roger can't hear either and wears hearing aids (when he feels like it) but we laugh because they can always hear each other. They go out to breakfast every Sunday and Ava says they're probably like the "Church Chat" ladies. They just sit and talk and talk and talk. They're so funny. My dad could never hear all the years we were growing up. He had ruptured his ear drums and Mom always harassed him to get hearing aids. I KNOW he didn't want to hear. He finally broke down, but rarely put them in. On the other hand, I can hear a pin drop. It's a blessing and a curse.

Linda, @LSlycord I'm sure your friend doesn't mind one more day in Paradise. Hope she gets out eventually, though. I haven't noticed to see if the airlines/airports have settled down a bit. All our family made it home, but they were flying Allegiant - straight through to Punta Gorda. There are no direct flights into Ft. Myers, but PG is only about an hour away. I used to prefer to fly in and out of there.

Chris @faerywings good point about my having lived in colder places than here! We compare every cold to "Michigan Cold". This is NOT Michigan cold, except for short stints. We used to have such long, cold winters up there.

Kay @BrightEyes you've had a full day already. I guess (I'm finding out) when you get up at the crack of dawn, you get more things done. LOL MAYBE..............I'm becoming a Morning Person. Nah I'm still upset about forgetting to bring the hose in, but it's in now.

Glad you got some new DVD's and got some books re-homed. We used to have hundreds of books! Never read 99% of them, but we had bookshelves of them. When we moved to FL, we got rid of almost all of them. Chuck said "I'm not carting these books to one more house or state!". We found homes for them - they're not so easy to get rid of, though. We ended up donating most of them.

Well, I'd better get busy. The house cleaner is coming today and I need to get sheets ready and put some clothes away. I'm honestly still not completely resettled from having company for over a week. I miss them, though.

See ya all later. Hugs

Good Morning everyone! It is another chilly morning and still a bit slippery out there. DH took my CRV to work again, but will bring it home for me at lunch when the temps are warmer and roads have melted a bit. Another winter storm is on its way later today and into tonight, so my visit with my sister might be a short one :( . I managed to finish her gift and I hope that she will be happy with it.

I wasn't sure what colours to go with, so I just used whatever I had left in my stash of ribbon and flourishes, now my stash is getting pretty low so I guess I should restock. I should see if MIL wants to get rid of some of her artificial flowers etc. She has a huge collection and I doubt that I would make much of a dent in it if I got some from her LOL. That woman keeps everything!! She keeps telling us that we will have a heck of job clearing out the shop/sewing room when she is gone. FIL just says to sell everything with the house LOL. Not a subject any of us like to discuss though. Anyway I am hoping to get my page finished that I started working on yesterday. Other than that I will be working on some recipes to freeze. Sure hope we get a break from all of this very unusual weather we have been having. We moved back home from the prairie to get away from all the snow and cold LOL.

@faerywings - Sorry Chris, nothing very exciting happening here. Had to laugh about the huge sombrero fitting the two headed skeleton ! What will you come up with next LOL. Happy that your fur baby does not have to go for surgery! I bet your bank account will be happy too ;). Good choice not to go to the Dentist right now, numbers are climbing here too, but I can't believe how many people still think they need to travel and lie on a beach somewhere, then they complain about having to get tested before they are allowed to come back into the country . My brother and wife left to go to Australia for three months the day after Christmas and I just heard on the news this morning that they have stopped any incoming flights to Australia because the numbers are rising quickly. Sure hope that they are ok down under, they are so happy to be with the kids and grands again and are not worried about being stuck there. It's been three years since they have seen their family. We are happy that they took the opportunity to go when they did, but worried for them too. Heather's 40th birthday is coming up in February and I am worried that she will not be able to do anything special or go anywhere to celebrate. Jonah still has not gotten vaccinated, so he can't take her to a restaurant or take the boys to any activities. He did make them a skating rink in the yard and they have been having lots of fun with that!

@LSlycord - Your friend might be stuck there with you for a while!! Sounds like so many flights are being cancelled as pilots and crews are all getting sick. Hope she can catch her flight tomorrow. Hope you have a fun day with her, soak up some rays for the rest of us!

@BrightEyes - Up early and enjoying some warmer temps too! Sounds like you had an active day yesterday and how great to have the new DVD's to enjoy! I totally understand that you were happy to get back home. Any kind of shopping or errand running is very stressful right now at least it is for me! Others I think are just done with Covid and want to get back to life before the Pandemic. I do too, but the Pandemic isn't done with us yet.

@Cherylndesigns - Yikes you have truly become one of us LOL up early everyday! Hope that the light helps you out a bit, we could really use some sunshine and warmer temps here too! Ha, Ha sunrise and sunset pics in the same day??? The world must be coming to an end LOL. Hope you get back to your normal routine soon!

Ok its time to hit the shower and get my morning chores done. Looking forward to seeing my sister today! I haven't talked to anyone but my DH since the 30th of December, well not face to face anyway. Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Good morning, ladies. I survived grocery shopping yesterday. Walking around the store wasn't too bad, it was the getting in and out of the car that was hard on my back. So when we got back home, I finished up work and then went to bed for a few hours. Then got up to eat dinner and then was on the floor mat with a heating pad until bedtime. Taz loves it, he climbs up onto my legs which are on a raised leg support and he lays there like he's the king of the castle LOL. Remi walks around and around my mat, flopping down onto my face and shoulders, wanting to snuggle. So we were able to binge 3 NCIS episodes and get caught up. I am really enjoying the tv binging we've been doing. Tonight we'll start binging Roswell New Mexico.

D will drive this afternoon when I go for my booster shot. We'll go in his truck which will be easier on my back. I am slowly getting better each day but I get so frustrated b/c I just want to get on with things.

Dinner today is going to be baked potato topped with beans, corn, vegan cheese sauce and a salad, super easy to put together (my cheese sauce is in the fridge already) and D is having chicken fingers and potato salad.

If you are looking for a mystery to read, I recommend Cold Wind by Paige Shelton. I'm 2/3 through it and enjoying it, its an easy read.

@faerywings Glad to hear Jaida is ok, no surgery needed.
@Cherylndesigns How wonderful to get the morning and night pics. I haven't gotten a good sunset/sunrise pic in a long time.
@BrightEyes Sounds like a good productive day yesterday.

I'm getting coffee and getting on with my day. Have a good day everyone.

The hummingbird saga continued yesterday. What we were doing wasn't enough to keep the little guy warm. Did you know they have a temp of 104? They need warmish nectar or they get something similar to what happens when you ingest something too cold. So hubby decides we are going to drive into North Vancouver, about 13 miles via the freeway, to get this special warming light and feeder. $100 later we come out with a sckookum deal for the hummingbird. On the way back the snow started to fly rather hard and rush hour traffic had started. Hubby, who has anxiety, was not taking that well. lol so after much calming chatter from me we made it home in one piece and set the feeder up. I sure hope the critter appreciates the effort. lol

Well we got the outdoor lights down this morning before the next big snowfall tonight. The lights are still scattered all over the family room floor drying but they are down. The indoor decorations are tomorrow's job. I was hoping to do it today but Hubby hasn't taken his photos yet and wants to wait until tonight to do that. Don't ask why, I have no idea what his thought process is and I know better than to ask. Good thing I am a relatively patient person.

Hopefully I can get started on my Feb challenge today. I have the composition planned but need to find a good photo and of course the right kit to go with. Hmm maybe a trip to the store? ha ha Any excuse to shop our store.

Finally checking in. It's been a long day. It's now 6:30 pm.

Lets see we woke up to freezing rain and my hubby didn't want my kids driving as my whole driveway was black ice. So I called them in late and we waited a bit before they ventured to the school. they missed 1st period but arrived in time for 2nd period.

9:30 was the time Myla had to be dropped off at puppy camp. luckily my hubby came along. I drove. He sat in the back seat and while driving she twisted and twisted so much so that the harness was choking her. Luckily he was in the back to the rescue. We arrived at the place and I went inside leaving them in the car. It took about 15 minutes for me to fill out all the paperwork. Luckily hubby walked Myla. She was so excited to go in the car that she had to go bad. So I left dropped off Hubby at home and went to get my nails done and had a chair massage. The entire time my phone is going off. my kids and hubby are watching Myla on the web cam and texting in the group chat. by the time I finished getting my nails done I had 75 messages. Talk about being relaxed. NOT!!!!!

Then off to food shop. normally i take one of the kids but this time I did it myself. The store was packed. most wearing masks but some not. The whole time I"m starving and you know how that goes put everything in the cart that you see. $300 later but at least only one cart. Sometimes I have 2 carts.

picked up gyros for lunch and luckily when I arrive home kids were here so they put groceries away.

3:30 pm was pick up Myla time. This time my son and hubby came. She passed. She can return to puppy play time. well, as I'm writing this my Myla is sleeping. Yup she conked out at 4 pm and it's now 6:30. Normally 7 pm it gets crazy so hoping she is a good puppy at that time. Wish me luck.

If any of you pray I need some prayers for my family. My grandmother (my kids call her GG) is 91 years old. She lives in Florida with my aunt. My mom's sister. mom and aunt are fighting. Anyway, my aunt doesn't want to bring my grandma home any more. She has had enough as she fell 2 times. So they are looking into a nursing home. my grandma doesnt' know this as she sits in the hospital because she has a brain bleed from falling and has black and blues on her face as she fell ontop of her face. So today I get a call from my mom. She is upset because my aunt hasn't visited my grandma in the hospital for 4 days and she has no clothes so shes crying. We live in NJ. She can't just go to florida to see my grandmother. Well, my aunt is breaking one of the 10 commandments.
  • Honor your father and your mother. It's so sad and my mom said my aunt cursed my mom out as well. She took my grandmother in 7 years ago and treated her bad. Anyway, I need prayers that peace will come upon my family and my grandma finds a place to stay at 91 years old.
To top that off my niece has covid. We saw her on Christmas day. She went with her father (we don't talk to him as he broke my sister's heart) well they went to Florida the next day. The boy (step brother) they went with had Covid and she caught it from him. Now my sister is all upset. So I'm praying that my other niece (her sister) doesn't catch it too.

@faerywings we do eat onions but when I make the meatballs I do not put onions in it. So Myla can eat it too. Think it's only salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Guess I had a lot to say. It's now 6:50 and Myla will be getting up soon. I need to go eat dinner. Hoping for a less stressful day tomorrow.
