Happy Wednesday!

Guess what happened yesterday? I *didn't* spend hours on hold! However, (yup, always a "but") I didn't really get any answers, at least for the heating assistance. They are "waiting for the State" to approve the paperwork, whatever that means. She asked if I had sent in the Zero Income Statement, which I did, and told me that as long as I did, that they had all of the documentation they need. No answer as to why I got the notices that they needed more documentation or how long this process will take. I applied in September.:help:

The Dental call was easy-peasy. I think. I am always suspicious when things go *too* easy. LOL
I was able to pay my premium online, then to add Scott I had to go to the healthcare.gov site to add him. I will have to pay his premium soon and he will have coverage as of Feb 1.

I didn't get any organizing done, but I packed away the rest of Christmas so there is that.

Today I get to go food shopping, yippee-ki-yay. hehe But this afternoon, I am meeting with BFFATS for coffee. I saw her last week when we went down the street to have coffee with our friend but we didn't get to catch up one on one so this will be nice.

I better get going, I am trying to stick to a schedule off being off the computer by 7.30. I have 5 minutes to go.

xo

OMG, Trudy! How awful that your Gary is so sick. How hard what it not to say "I told you so?" Glad to hear that the abx are working already, but will send good healing vibes to him ~~~~ and some soup too~~~~ :D

Jean- we had the same weather, drizzly but no too cold. I hope that your calls went well too.

Nancy- I hate when my family does that to me too with adding on a ton of stuff to the list at the last minute. Hope you got scrapping in.

Rae- it must feel weird to not be where you are used to being. Did you get any news about your computer?

Trudy- we are probably about 6 episodes in with The OA too.

hugs!

good morning - well yesterday went so much better than I could have hoped. First my Devils won again 3-1 over the Hurricanes. Yea two wins in a row. They next play Friday and I am going to a pregame party with several of the Devils alumni as the Devils honor Dr. John McMullen, the original owner of the Devils, who brought the team from Colorado to NJ. He will be the first in the ring of honor. So I am happy! Then today I have a meeting with Aon to discuss my Medicare supplementary insurance but first I had make sure that my application for Medicare was approved and that I had my claims number. Well I called Medicare after I had gone on line to see yes they had approved Medicare to start in February but no claims number as that will come in the letter but the letter takes 10 days. Yikes! Well the gentleman from Medicare was awesome. He said I could go to my local Social Security office and they would print out the letter. He really helped a lot. And the wait was only 10 min. So I looked on line and the SS office was only 15 min from my house and they don't close until 4pm so I went. I signed in and in less than 10 min I had my letter, number and so I am all set. Then I made French toast for dinner and that was really good as I love breakfast for dinner. I only got one Luther walk as it was really raining. And he was pretty sad all day as it was the first day in a long time when both my DH and son went back to work. So cute so he got lots of extra loving. Today's weather should be much better and that is good. I am going to have to figure out something for dinner though.

Chris so glad you too did not have long waits. I am wondering if the new year is giving people a new outlook and maybe they are just refreshed from being on holiday. But I am glad that this is going fairly well for you. Hope you find out soon the answer!

Rae how strange I am sure not be in your room to do your work. Hope you hear soon!

Jean our weather here is clearing but now the cold comes in. lows in the teens and high low 30s. Not looking forward to this cold snap but it will be easier with my nifty jacket!

Trudy how is nurse Trudy doing? It is not easy which I know and I could never be a nurse! Bet the soup helped!

Have a great day all!

Morning everyone!! It is chilly here this morning and DH is home again from work. I am glad because he needs to head to the hospital today to have his chest x-ray and see just how bad this pneumonia really is! He is not getting any better and I have a feeling that they might just have to admit him to the hospital. Oh well that might be the only way to get him on the path to wellness again! I do not enjoy being the Nurse, but at least he is doing what he is told and staying home from work, so that is a positive thing as my DH is one stubborn man!! Yesterday was a busy one as I ended up having to go grocery shopping, and needed to also get some ink for my printer. While I was at Staples DD txt me and asked If I would pick up a couple of things for her to put in the parcel I was sending to her. So I got that done, then came home and started making the Cream of Chicken and Rice Soup, the In-Laws called and they were on their way to our house and wanted to have coffee with us. Ok they did not know that my Gary was so sick and were surprised to see him home. FIL is still in horrible pain with his shingles and was getting more meds that was why they were in town. So we had a good visit, but could tell that my Gary and FIL were both not doing well so the visit was not a long one. So much for getting any scrap time in yesterday, hopefully I can do that today. We will see how long I will have to be at the hospital with my hubby!

Chris - I am so glad that you did not have to spend hours on the phone with the Health Care questions, but disappointed for you that you never really got any solid answers to to questions! Nice to have the Christmas Decorations down at least, we asked MIL if she needed help with her Christmas clean up, (she goes way over the top with it) But of course she said no. FIL is in too much pain to get all the boxes to put everything away, so I am not sure just when she thinks it will get done?? Now I know just why my DH is so dam stubborn!! He comes by it honestly!! Are you enjoying the OA? It is very different, but we are liking it so far.

Nancy - Glad your Devils made you happy again yesterday! Hope you have a great time at the pregame party! I bet you are glad to have the house back to yourself! I honestly don't know what I will do when my DH retires for good, he will drive me nuts as he doesn't have any hobbies other than he loves his yard work, but that is very seasonal! The winter months I will want to kill him!! :rollpin:

Rae - I am seeing just how slippery the side roads are over on the Mainland!! We are lucky to not have that problem here, but at the In-Laws they had more snow than us and it is very icy and slippery. I also saw this morning that the fire halls are giving out free salt, but of course some greedy people have been taking more than their share and stealing it before the fire halls are open. Really??? :gaah: what is the matter with people, you get something for free and you ruin the meaning behind it. I will never understand people!! :noidea:

I hope you all have a great Wednesday, thanks for sending over the healing vibes to my DH it is very much appreciated! Keep your fingers crossed that we do not have to spend hours in the hospital!!

Good morning, ladies. The sun is shining but it is cold. Taz and I will walk along the river path later, to the dog park at lunch time. There is a woman that brings her dogs there at lunchtime so I know Taz will have a few buddies to play with. Good thing I can walk over b/c my driveway is filled with ice again (and on a slope) and my car doors are frozen shut. So I'm not driving anywhere today. It's day 4 for me on WW. It's getting easier. I'm getting back into the mindset of eating healthy. I feel less bloated and more energetic so even though I miss the holiday goodies and snacking, my body is happy to get away from the sugar.

I talked to our computer guy yesterday. A new computer is being built and should be ready in the next week or so. Whew...I was worried about it. I just saw the commercial for the Prison Break sequel...coming in spring 2017...yay (I loved the original series).

Chris - getting the house organized again after Xmas is a PITA but doesn't it feel good to get it done? My rooms are small so as much as I love the colors and sparkle of the tree and decorations, it clutters up the LR and DR so I'm always happy to get things back to normal again and open the rooms up more with space and light. Glad to hear you had some success with your phone calls and getting things sorted out.

Nancy - I think Taz is feeling the same about Darrell going back to work this week. After being on holidays for almost 3 wks, he got used to having him here all day and they took afternoon naps together :)

Trudy - hope your hubs doesn't need to be admitted but of course whatever gets him well sooner is good. I hope you make a better nurse than I do, I always get caught up in doing my own stuff that I forget to check on the patient LOL.

I've got the morning news on and they just showed a food segment with cauiliflower mushroom risotto. Yum. I'm going to make that soon. I'm getting off the computer to shower and dress and get a few household chores done before going out with Taz. Have a great day everyone.

Getting colder and trying to snow here, you'd think it was winter! We have bird club tonight and DH did grocery shopping, but otherwise not going out. My call to switch our electric plan (back to the city's aggregate) apparently went well. To our new health ins., :noidea: we mailed checks for our first premium on Dec. 22 but they haven't cleared the bank. The representative just said to call back on Monday if they still haven't. The checks were also supposed to set up our automatic payments. Yuck. Still haven't made the other call I need to do.

Chris, a time management plan? You are an inspiration. Also, I had to laugh at your "stalking" my LOs for font ideas. Thanks for the compliment! I'm loving all your rat pix. I can't say I really relate, but you are doing such cute things with them. Hope all your calls work out correctly!

Nancy, how unbelievably wonderful that Social Security could solve your problem, especially quickly. How nice to have the house to yourself a bit. I have a retired DH, so mostly don't know the feeling, but we manage OK. More cheers for that jacket!

Trudy, oh dear! Your MG had better follow orders! Sure hope things aren't really too bad and he'll improve soon. Good luck with nursing him. Really sorry for your FIL as I've seen how horrible shingles pain can be with friends and relatives. Be safe on the roads too.

Rae, icy drive and frozen car doors? I'm glad you aren't trying to drive. It sounds like you and Taz really do have fun on your walks though. Good news on the computer, but I would be wanting to be looking over their shoulders to be sure it got done right - and FAST.

Hope it's a good and safe day for all.

Hi I'm Angi. New here. Trying to catch up & guess at some of the stuff.

yesterday, I got hit with some bad news. My son's guidance counselor, her husband passed away unexpectedly. He just turned 36. Their kids are in 3rd grad & 1st grade - they go to school with my 2 younger boys. I am in shock & depressed. We're kinda friends - run into each other all the time at the schools - our kids play at the park.

Rae - Does WW stand for Weight Watchers? My friend did that & lost weight. She loved it so much, she now works for them.

Chris - Hope your coffee date went well.

Trudy - I hope your DH gets the help he needs with his health.

Nancy, Nancy, Nancy - *sigh* what can I say. I live in Hockeytown, aka Detroit, so its Go Red Wings!!! lol. seriously, I hope you have a great time at the pregame party.
