Au revior, Paris! It was a lovely evening :sparkles1:

And a slightly rough morning. Not from drinking too much -- although the Kir Royales that FIL made were quite delectable. But I'm just dang tired after two days of cooking and cleaning. It was a lot of work but it went off amazingly well. Gary surprised me, he said that he wasn't going to dress in character but he pulled out an old suit and tie, pulled his hair into a ponytail, and wore his glasses. Scott and Sam walked in the door and they weren't dressed at all, he thought that no one was going to dress up. He and Sam raided closets and came up with perfect costumes in no time.
I didn't take a lot of pictures but FIL got a bunch, including one of all of us at the table. I am going to have to bug him today to send me it. I know the kids were taking pictures too.

The dress that Cait is wearing is one that I brought home from my mom's the other day. It was the bridesmaid dress that I wore at my BIL's wedding- in 1998! I was a few months pg with Caitlyn. I guess that technically makes it the 2nd time she has worn it. :rotfl:
Me and Scott- *heart melts*

I have a sink and counters full of dirty dishes. After I clean here, I am off to clean for my friend- the medieval weapons collector- and I honestly think his house is going to be easier to tidy up than mine. I think this afternoon I might just collapse. :javafix1:

Have a fab day, my dears!

@LSlycord The restaurant and its location sound wonderful! Feet in the sand. ahhhhhhh! next time you go, please do that for me. I miss the ocean, always do. Are the dunes there permanently or it is seasonal? NJ beaches build up their dunes after the summer season to help with beach erosion.
That's a lot of BS about jobs being listed and then changing their mind about hiring. Still sending good thoughts to the one that said hopefully in two weeks.

I was happily surprised at how everyone really tried to stay in character all night. Sam cracked us up. She said that she practiced some of her personal details to her roommate, all in a French accent. Then she got to the bottom of the page in her character booklet and found out that she was from Mississippi!
The food:
MIL brought cheese and crackers. Same made a yummy spinach and chickpea salad. I made French Onion soup, caramelized onion quiche, ratatouille (over pasta), and vegan poutine for Tom. That boy needs his junk food :p Chocolate mousse (from a mix) and vegan cheesecake for dessert.

Awwwww, poor Andie! It's much nicer to be able to work from home with a dog at your feet- for both of you

@vickyday This tells you basically how to play. https://mastersofmystery.com/collections/murder-mystery-games
We played quite a few back in the 90s with a few other couples. "How to Host Murder Mystery" was the brand, IIRC.
This is the Murder Mystery that we did. It was a decent game but there are tons of other brands. I would recommend reading reviews of them, this one wasn't as well-drafted as the ones we played in the past. We all caught small mistakes in the booklets and directions.
HAHAHA!!!!! Ample mouse! :giggle4: Cait had a few of them (rats but close enough)
Even though I personally am not religious, I adore hearing how your faith is such a core component of how you live your life. ♥
#cheer-3 for your hard work on decluttering!

@Nonni F I am sure you have loads of interesting stories to tell from your time in the military and on base after you were discharged. YFS! Great acronym. It also cracks me up because my ILs have three G-DDs and 1 G-DS. They always call Scott their favorite grandson. On my side, my parents have 2 GDSs and 1 GDD. My mother cannot call Caitlyn her favorite at all, even though she is the only one. SMH (Shakes my head) My mom, as you will hear often, had a *lot* of quirks. I think it may be genetic.

@taxed4ever Hope that your dr appt went well, I always need to bring a list with me too. I wish there was some way to get the grease off the range hood, mine always feels tacky no matter how often or what I use to clean it. What do you use?
Oh my-- A French teacher with a Scottish accent? Was it Jamie Fraser? *G* We alllll wish! LOL

@bcgal00 Did you have any luck getting something to decorate your cabinets?
That's a smart workaround for the soup. Since I have texture issues with food, that might come in handy here.
Hope you slept better last night too.

@BrightEyes Oh Kay....I am so sorry that you have more medical issues. Human bodies need to come up with better warranties for parts. It sucks to you already know what to do from past experience and I hope that you feel better very soon.

@Su_Sanne I am one of those people who hate mornings but my body doesn't think I deserve to sleep past 6 am. No matter what time I fall asleep. pfft. feel free to throw pillows at me :pillowfight: as long as you have #coffee-4 with you

@Cherylndesigns It is no wonder that you forgot to post the other day- wild rumpus is such an appropriate name for your house/family :D Sorry about having to get new glasses, I need to get some too. the ones I have are 4 years old and even though the Rx hasn't changed much, my astigmatism has. I just don't want to have to pay for them since I put out $180 for contacts. blerg!

@Su_Sanne you'll hear lots more from Cheryl, but there is *never* a dull moment at her house/ranch. Kids/dogs/chaos -- every darn day and I mean that in the best of ways.

Short and sweet... the shot kicked in late in the day and I was able to sleep with a lot less pain last night. Figured out how to read using a pillow on the lap as I sit in the recliner. Not wearing the sling but being very careful with the left arm. Only problem is I usually sleep on my left side... the one with the shoulder problem. Using a pillow behind that shoulder to keep me off of it. The brace on the right hand really helps.

Good morning. It's a quiet day here...nothing planned. Supposed to be beautiful. Need to spend some time in the office...pay a few bills, file a few papers...you know the drill. I want to go see that new movie "80 for Brady"...but I hate going to the movies because they cost so much. So probably won't happen.

I did get a call from the recruiter yesterday about the contracting job. The company really wants me but they are waiting for funding approval. They hope to know by the end of the week.

@faerywings the party sounds delightful! I'm so glad that everyone dressed up. And that they stayed in character so well. Sounds like a memory that will last a lifetime. And that picture of Scott...how do the years go so fast?

@vickyday I love the story of how the Lord provided with the kids and the jobs. I was one month from turning 48 when we brought Sydney home...although Shaun is older, Sydney came home first. We were VERY involved in the lives of my nieces and nephew but we had plenty of Empty Nest time before we had kids. Now we are starting through it again...slowly since Shaun is technically still at home and Sydney will be home for the summer.

@Nonni F kids do reach that age when they don't appreciate the camera. Mine still cooperate most of the time. For Sydney to agree to pictures, there needs to be a dog!:floorlaugh:

@taxed4ever I like Florida this time of year but I sure miss the seasons of fall and spring. Living in a beach house would probably take care of that longing...until the hurricanes came. Always something!

@BrightEyes I am glad that the shot helped! It is so hard when you need to change sides that you sleep on. Glad that you found a way to read and a way to sleep. Hopefully a little more rest and some PT and you will be back to normal.

@bcgal00 we always cook our bacon in the oven nowadays as well. Sure makes the whole process easier. I need to go back through my closet again and drop off a bunch of clothes.

@Su_Sanne I have a world clock on my phone and I will be using it frequently if Sydney heads to Germany.

@Cherylndesigns you are constantly busy! Good for you!

Have a good day ladies.

@faerywings Looks like a fun night. Love the photos...and the dress.

@BrightEyes glad the shot kicked in and you had less pain. Hopefully today is a better day.

Nothing exciting going on here. Very quiet morning at work. "Quiet" usually ends up getting me in trouble. Fingers crossed I can behave, at least until lunch time.

I will never forget the coffee. It protects me if I write nonsense again or kick you out of bed too early. :giggle4:
Maybe Cheryl could use some domestic help. I would offer myself - for 1 or 2 years ... I should ask her sometime. No problem as long as my doggies are welcome, too, okay + DH :rotfl: As long as I was still working, I could never sleep more than 6 hours if the audio books were too exciting :p

In his defense though... he was twenty when he was taken prisoner and brought to a new land. No way of getting back.. so why not just get another? LOL soooo 1600-ish

Thanks for the links! I'll definitely check them out!
Ha! To me ample mouse means rat! :rotfl:
My faith has everything to do with a relationship with Jesus, not being religious. Everyone is "religious" about something! I love that you are open minded enough to accept that I live openly about my faith! It is my whole life! And I accept those who don't believe the way I do! I'm not going to beat someone over the head because they don't believe what I believe! It has to be a personal choice! Take that choice away and you take a person's freedom away!#kiss

Morning ladies... quick in and outta here as I have to pack my bag for my hike today! It will be so great to be out in the fresh air again! It's going to be a beautiful sunny day, but that means its also going to be a chilly morning. That's ok its better than the weather we had yesterday! All day it would be a downpour with high winds for 20 mins then the sun would pop out, then the winds and rain again, it was a crazy weather day for sure! Fresh snow on the far mountain tops, so pretty! My Dr. appointment went well, I need to go back on Thursday to have my ears flushed out, they are full of wax build up and she thinks that is what the problem is when I swim laps. That the big wax build up is keeping the water from going out of my ear, it is getting trapped behind the wax. We will see if it works or not, so I will be going back to the pool to give it a go. I really do miss my lap swimming! Yesterday talking with Heather she was telling me that she really misses wearing a watch, she lost hers somewhere and has never gotten a replacement. So I had a light bulb moment and remembered that I had a Mickey Mouse Watch in my Jewlery Box that I haven't worn in forever. I took it to the jeweller and got a new battery put in and Hooray, it runs great! So I am popping that in the mail for her. I got it when we all went to DisneyWorld way back when Jonah and Heather had no kids and Jason and Jackie had two very small little ones. Here is a photo of what it looks like, I am so happy I can pass it on to our daughter!

Ok now I have been here far too long and I gotta get moving! Have a great day everyone! Talk with all of you tomorrow!

Good morning ladies. I want to get going on chores and things around the house. Didn't get the meatloaf made yesterday so today for sure. I have laundry and floors to do today. D is going out to get a haircut so the house will be quiet for awhile. Jen says she is sleeping better and feeling better after leaving that job. I'm so relieved to hear.

@faerywings You need to do a page with those two photos, then and now with the dress. Glad you all had fun with the party.

@taxed4ever Enjoy the hike today. Glad you have clear skies.

@BrightEyes Take care of yourself. Get better.

@LSlycord Glad they are showing interest in hiring you. Fingers crossed.

Gotta go feed the birds, get more coffee and get dressed. HAGD everyone.

Good morning. Yes, I said good morning - I'm up early, aren't I?? Chris @faerywings I bet your party was a blast! SO funny that everybody stayed in character - that's the fun part, anyway. I can just imagine all of the shenanigans that went on! You are so correct about everything that goes on around here - it's a zoo, I tell ya. The goats and dogs visit was one more thing to add t our zoo. We're getting some chickens soon. Maybe we can have affordable eggs now. :lol23:Just don't sent me to collect them because I'm afraid of fowl.

Susanna @Su_Sanne I sure could use some domestic help. We have a "revolving door" here - it's opened and closed a lot. The "wild rumpus" consists of our dog, my DD's 2 dogs and my granddaughters 1 dog. They are "the wild rumpus" when they all come over, which is almost every day. They're all girls and I refer to them as "the girls" or the 4-legged grandchildren. It's never a dull moment here - Chris is right about that. That's probably why I stay up so late.

Trudy @taxed4ever I love that watch - what a treasure. Have a good hike today.

Kay @BrightEyes I'm glad you finally got some relief from the shot. Take it easy today - I'm sure you will.

Linda @LSlycord your day for Brian's bd sounds wonderful - I miss FL - sometimes. LOL I do miss the winter weather, as you know.

Vicky @vickyday sorry you have to go to a funeral today. Hugs.

I'm going to get off of here now and finish up my heritage LO and get it posted.

XOXO

LEFT MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE AT WORK LAST NIGHT
Episode 2

On my lunch break I plugged my passport and NOTHING! Nada! Zilch!

Now, I know... always have a back up. But, the one I always use recently died so I was using the backup... Brought it to work to clean it up, neaten the files... blah, blah, blah....before backing IT up.

I didn't see any emojis listed for flames and vomiting.... (visualize)

Okay.. NOT panicking. (that would be a lie)
