woohoo, it is downright *balmy* this morning. ;)
That is if you count 26*F "balmy" but this is the warmest it has been in ages. We made it to 30* yesterday afternoon so maybe today will get warmer than that.

Overall, I think I had a pretty successful day. I was able to help my mom with some of the computer stuff and set up her new Fitbit and added the app to her cell phone. She, my dad, and I went to the little local Italian restaurant for lunch and I got my favorite sandwich- grilled chicken cutlet with sauteed spinach and garlic. I had the other half for dinner.
The rest of my day was s*** and no need to get into that.

I do have a question for you dog parents. Part of my s**** day was getting a call from Gary that J lost two out of her 4 staples and had to go back to the vet. The vet ended up putting in 4 more. We hadn't been using the inflatable cone because she hadn't been messing with them but we will be keeping that on her since we assume she pulled them out. Do you keep the donut on your dog 24/7? Gary didn't ask the vet (why do men never ask questions?) if she can take it off at bedtime and she looks so uncomfortable. It is easy enough to take on and off so it isn't like the plastic cone where we would have to wrestle the dogs to get it on. Same with going outside, she is going to want to clean herself...

Off to clean for my friend today and then I have a boatload of things I have to do this afternoon.
Wish me luck, I have a feeling I am going to be banging my head against the wall :D

HAGD, love to you all!

@LSlycord I imagine you never get over missing your mom. I know how blessed I am to have her even when she makes me a bit batty. Your mom and I would agree-- just get us to March :)
I remember when you were to HI! I was jealous about that too. Hah Soon after, another Cheery O went, and you compared notes. Was it Clara?

@tanteva I feel exactly the same way, so much piling up and my big project is *still* untangling this yarn. To top it off, I don't even think I will use the yard for anything. But it MUST get done.
Good luck with working the next two days, although I guess you are already at work now. How have things been with the weird coworker?
Hope that Urban has success with the refinancing.

@BrightEyes How nice that you had a longer visit with your niece yesterday. I am sending you good thoughts on the weather and that the snow doesn't cause any problems or loss of power.
what a happy find in the bag of produce!

@mom2triplets04 Hahaha!! I think I still have cheap hotdogs in the freezer when we got Whisky. Talk about a high-value reward. Disgusting (I don't like meat) but not as bad as the chicken liver we had to use for J. (barf!)

Linda, good for your kids! The socializing with Decker is good for him no matter where he ends up. But he seems to be doing good with you so far. Do you get first dibs on Decker since you have him with you already? That was the deal with fostering W, if anyone applied to adopt her, we still had the first choice to keep her or not.

Thanks, @scribler I put the harness into my Amazon cart to go back and look at when I have more time. Any suggestions on the cone? Think we can take it off at night?

Eva-- I am going to have to look at that video this afternoon - I clicked Watch Later but I have no idea if I am even logged into YouTube. I hope I don't; forget that want to do that...

@bcgal00 Congrats on the retirement. I am so sorry that it happened this way but I know that you have been ready for it. Sending you all good luck vibes to selling the house quickly. Wish I could give you hugs IRL but am sending you love and strength as you navigate the week ahead. xoxo

@taxed4ever Happy b-day to your brother and happy birthday to your Gary! (Tomorrow is my BIL's birthday -- WTH happens 9 months prior LOL) Is it snowing by you, hope that it isn't so you can head out to lunch together.
Awww, Poochie seems to be fitting right in! What a good kid Mason is.
No word from the Heating Assistance, that is #1 on my to-do list for this afternoon.

@Cherylndesigns Would you believe that I am so desperate for sun and warmth (and someone to cook for me!) that I would actually deal with the airplane at this point?? LOL!!
I am glad that Lila's vision is at least stable, poor baby.
As for fostering, they don't call us Foster Fails for nothin' :p
I remember when we told the rescue that we were adopting W, the woman just laughed and said that she knew it from the minute she talked to me on the phone.

Laura, that is one of the hardest things, not raising your voice to the dogs. How often is the trainer coming to you? I am sure she told you this, but it is a good idea to let Myla run around as much as possible so she is somewhat worn out before you start the training session. Although Myla seems like she doesn't run out of energy very quickly haha

@tjscraps ugh...... you and your poor DH. What a bad run of luck. :( One of my PICC lines got clogged often and that was a PITA to get taken care of at the ER and that is sooooo much less invasive than a feeding tube must be.
And you must be 100% worn out, trying to take care of him while being so sick yourself. I am assuming that your MIL is back home? When everyone is feeling better you all need a vacation too!
Hang inthere.

Good morning! Chris, each time I see your beautiful siggie, I am reminded that I need to make one. Since mine isn't really Christmas, I think that I can push it to Valentine's Day but I know that will be here before we know it and I definitely need to get a new prepared.

Yesterday was a good day...it actually turned warm. So, instead of working on the office, I cleaned the pool. After a windy, cold spell like we had, it is such a mess. It needs more cleaning today. Supposed to get to 74 today. This is truly my favorite kind of weather.

And, the dogs had a great day. They had lots of interaction and it was all good. I have them in the office with me because both kids are in school today. Shaun will get home around 1 and then we will work with them again. Truth is Andie and Decker would be fine I think. Andie is so darned big that she can definitely take care of herself but has such a sweet temperament that she would be good with just giving Decker a warning if he needed one. Shaun yesterday said that I should have let Andie become a mom because she is so good and so patient. Good grief! Thank goodness we didn't make a crazy decision like that! Shaun also said that I need to get back to work because I have way too much time on my hands if I'm going to be making paper chains!

Off to the gallery. I am challenging myself to do 280 comments in February! Haven't given myself a challenge like that in years but I'm going for it. Back in a bit to do personals.

@faerywings Does it impact J's ability to sleep? Are they a sound sleeper? If it's not impacting their sleep, I say keep it on. Cause you'll have no idea what they are doing in the middle of the night.

Morning, all. No snow when I got up an hour ago but noticed the lights flickered a couple of times. Looked out and the snow has started coming down. It is 33* but temp is heading down fast. I had a 're-heated' cup of coffee but decided I had better make a full pot just in case we lose power. I have a gas stove so can reheat it if needed. Suppose to get down to 4* tonight... mid-20's tomorrow and 6* tomorrow night. Brrrr. Think this is going to be a PJ day along with my heavy housecoat... plus bundled up with my heavy throw. Really hoping we don't lose power. They interviewed the head of the gas company yesterday on TV... he was urging customers dress warm and to keep the thermostats turned down about 62 to converse gas over the next several days. Same thing for electric use... don't use power for chores that can be put off until after the storm passes. Guess last year's Texas frozen fiasco prompted these warnings about the demands on the utilities.

Got a call from Les yesterday afternoon. She is gaining strength so they will be getting her up to stand and try walking today. Not sure how long she will in rehab...will have to see how it goes. Will only be getting updates every 4-5 days which is fine.

@faerywings Glad you were able to help your mom with the fitbit and computer, etc. I agree with Linda... I love your new siggy! Hope that J will leave the staples alone... but it would be good to keep the collar on at night.

@tjscraps so sorry that the feeding tube got clogged... what a fiasco to get a new one put in. No wonder you are worn out... and worried. <<< hugs >>>

@LSlycord glad it warmed up enough so you could clean the pool. Glad that the dogs were getting along with Decker. Doesn't sound like the other ' wanting to foster' family set-up was good. LOL over Shawn suggesting that Andie would be a good 'mom'... think you have enough with 3 dogs right now. Like the paper chain to mark the time and fun events that are coming.

@Cherylndesigns looks like you will be getting this storm, too. Hope you stay warm and safe. Looks like the ice part of it is going to be really bad. Really hate ice. I hear you about leaving the computer on... I was doing a back-up to ExHD yesterday and forgot about it for a few hours. Walked past the office and realized the computer was still on.

Lights flickering again so going to shut down. CYL

Morning ladies... Just a quick pop in here for me today! It's my DH's birthday (thanks for the birthday wishes Chris!). It doesn't look like we will be getting much in the way of snow so far today. So I think we will plan to go out for lunch. I am getting some bone broth made this morning and then need to get the cheese cake made for DH's birthday cake. Cross your fingers for me that it turns out! On face time for quite awhile this morning with Heather and the boys, they are having a snow day today and probably another one tomorrow as they are in the middle of a huge storm system dumping lots of snow! I am off to the shower and then will get coupons sent out to the challenge winners. Lots to do so I hope to catch up with all of you tomorrow! Have a great day everyone! Stay safe and warm!

Good morning ladies. I'm officially retired and it feels good but weird. I cleaned out my purse, went out into the yard for a few bird pics, posted a pic of the card that came yesterday and now am going to shower, dress and start puttering around the house. I need to pack up the cameras and will put them in the car when we go out later during realtor showings today. You never know who is going to come through your home so I want to be careful. We have to leave from 4-7 so will take the dogs out for a walk, run a few errands and then go for dinner somewhere close so we can be ready to come home when the realtor says its ok. Tomorrow and Friday will be morning showings so we'll use that time to go look at SUVs. We'll be driving in Jen's back and forth to Kamloops until we get a new one. I don't trust his old truck and my old car (we had to give back the company van). I know there isn't a lot to pick from but again, I'm trusting the universe to provide and send us in the right direction to find a suitable vehicle.

@faerywings depending on where J's staples are, can you cover it up with a small t-shirt? That's what we used for Remi. A small t-shirt with a cut up the back so I could tie it fairly snugly around her lower stomach and also at the neck so I could tie it up tighter around the neck. Make sense?

I'm out of the loop with all the personals but I'm slowly coming out of my funk and will be around more aside from the upcoming traveling.

I'd better get a coffee and go look at the new real estate listings. My realtor just sent a new link. Wish me luck.

So my last few days have been one crisis after another.
-The leak from the neighbours unit has been sorted. We now have to wait for our walls to dry before we add new insulation, cover the holes and pay the plumber's 5 hour bill. At least the neighbour admitted the leak was on his side.
-The complex sale is still in the forefront and we are now arranging lawyer talks
-DD has moved in with her cats and has settled nicely. She plans on having the renos done in a month. It is nice to have morning coffee with her.
- at the moment snow is falling but I don't think it will amount to much
-hubby has replaced his monitor that stopped working

Hi ladies!

Worked from home today, you'd think I would be less busy but nope, so weird. Hoping to be back in the office tomorrow - feeling a lot better today, hope I'm 100% by tomorrow. My boss joked last week that it was 'funny' that none of us had had covid yet, and we were all feeling good. Today 3 out of 5 of us weren't in the office due to sickness. I think he jinxed it!

I am hoping to scrap tonight! Hubby has plans, so I am going to turn on This is Us and just chill!!

@tjscraps ugh...... you and your poor DH. What a bad run of luck. :( One of my PICC lines got clogged often and that was a PITA to get taken care of at the ER and that is sooooo much less invasive than a feeding tube must be.

Hang inthere.

Yes, she left the day after he got out of the hospital the first time (Jan 19th?). She was a lot of help, but I also like having some down time without people around lol We definitely need a vacation!!!

@tjscraps so sorry that the feeding tube got clogged... what a fiasco to get a new one put in. No wonder you are worn out... and worried. <<< hugs >>>
Thank you!

Hi late but at least here. LOL

We're prepping for what can be a MAJOT storm - it's that storm that's ginormous - please pray that it's not like the Polar Vortex like last Feb. This storm is like 2000 miles wide - we could get dumped on or it could miss us. Chuck has been watching the Gulf Stream for the last 2 days and he doesn't think it will be so bad - I hope and pray he's right. The cat is driving me crazy - they KNOW - he wants to go out but gets out and comes right back in. He's walking around the house crying. It's gonna be a fun night. NOT.

We're all preparing for the worse and hoping for the best. If we lose power, we're all screwed. We're pretty much total electric here - very scary. The wind has really picked up - I can hear it howling and it's sleeting right now. School has been cancelled for the rest of the week because we're supposed to get a sheet of ice underneath the possible snow. Adrienne and I were laughing today because this is SOP in MI. They rarely ever closed schools up there - we just dealt with it. Everybody here is in total panic mode - but we took it in stride up there - hopefully, we won't get the brunt of it.

Anyhoo - Chris @faerywings yes I'd believe you're that desperate. I guess there's a tanning salon in town - just one - but I was thinking that I could use one right about now. My skin is SO dry and itchy and I know it's because we got so much exposure to the sun in FL even if we weren't trying. Braden found out that there was a YMCA at the University that's in town and we're thinking about joining it - they have a nice pool, he said. I'm not a fan of community pools but right now, I'm grasping at straws.

LOL about the "Foster Fails" - that would be SO me. I'd have to keep all the fosters - wouldn't that be a mess????? Hahaha I'd have animals all over the place.

Linda @LSlycord you cleaned your pool??? I have to poke a little fun at you - we had "pool service" - I don't
do pool cleaning". You wanna know why? Years ago, when I lived up north, I worked for a pool company. One of my jobs was servicing pools and I went to "pool chemicalizing school" and well, I was considered an expert. I had so many problems to deal with that I swore I'd never clean a pool again. The worse one was when a customer came in and said "there's black, sticky stuff all over the bottom of my pool"! OMG - it was so bad - SO much black algae - they NEVER cleaned it and then expected me to come and perform miracles. We only did liner-hung pools up north, but you wouldn't believe the problems I had to "fix". When we moved to FL, I said "no more - let the pool service come and clean the pool every week." My husband said "but you're certified" - I said "I'm not doing it". LMBO

Rae @bcgal good luck with everything. Congrats on being officially retired. You probably won't know how you ever had time to work. LOL

Trudy @taxed4ever are you in the same storm system we're in? We could get a lot of snow but so far, nothing. Happy birthday to your hubby.

Kay @BrightEyes yes, it looks like we're in the same storm system. So far, just sleet and lots of wind. I hope you escape the worse of it. It COULD be bad, but it could not be. SO crazy!! Great news about Leslie!!!

Kythy @Kythe hope things settle down for you a little bit. Lots of changes for you and your daughter.

Trina @tjscraps sending good thoughts your way. You guys have sure been through it.

Hugs and love to all.

man what a day I had! Started at 10 Dropped off Myla to puppy camp, got my nails done, did food shopping, dropped off food at 2, picked up Myla at 3, dropped off one kid to work at 4, went to the pet store, dropped off the other kid at 5. Came home met with the painter. Then cooked dinner. Then picked up the girls from work 9:30. I feel like I was in the car all day long! It's now 11:42 pm and I'm checking my e-mails and checking in. I sure hope tomorrow is not so stressful.

@faerywings the trainer will be coming to see Myla on Tuesday for 6 weeks. At one week in March she will come on a Thursday. She was very tired this morning as she woke up at 9. Then went to camp at 10-3. Tomorrow she will be home so I will try to work with her with some of the things we learned Drop and Touch. I also have to watch some videos the trainer sent me so will do that tomorrow.
