Its groundhog Day here in the US. Run, groundhog, RUN! Hide from Nana Linda!

:bolt:

(Check out the "how cold" thread!)

Yes yes, another snow day here in happy West Milford. yesterday was quite the interesting morning. We got the call for early dismissal. Then after the kids got to school, the Elem Schools were closed, full day. then we get a call that the MS/HS was getting closed at 12pm, rather than the usual time. We have an automated call system which calls the house phone and my cell phone. For some reason the calls were coming through several times each. It felt like all I did yesterday was run to answer phones!

I guess that was better than the phone call we got from the school on Tuesday. I am on line at Shop Rite when my cell rings. I see the Middle School name on the ID. I answer it and the Principal's voice comes on...

This is M.R, Principal of Macopin School, Today was had an Active Shooter drill. Can I just tell you that after hearing Active Shooter, my head went all buzzy and it took me a second to realize it was a drill! The kids have 911/Fire drills all the time, but this was the first time I heard Active Shooter. Yikes! Talk about having a heart attack!

Today- is our 6th snow day out of 7 scheduled. Looks like at the rate we are going, we are going to lose some of our spring break.

I also want to check in on just about everyone in world with the crazy weather. How are my AU friends? Hope no one is being impacted by the cyclone. And the girls in the Midwest?? The blizzard isn't too bad? And Sally... staying warm??

I am going to post this, bring back a huge pot of :tea: and a plate of donuts!

hugs!

It was ugly here last night. Kids got early dismissal and are out today. Brian is out snowblowing our drive and I'm planning to go to work...although haven't see the snowplow on our streat yet. Below zero windchills all day! Yuck! Oh to be in Cozumel right now!!!

WWW: I think I can safely speak for everyone to wish that we all had more moderate weather! This extreme stuff, heat/cold/snow/floods, is getting too much!

Nana- I have been so conflicted about this one cat. She is going to be 16 next week. I know she is sick, but if I bring her to the vet, they are going to suggest to run tests etc. It doesn't make sense. Nor do I have the money nor the heart to just have her put down. She isn't *that* sick.
But seriously, I wish I could tape up her butt!!!!!!

How was the rest of your day? How is Mike, did he have a better day? hope so!

Linda S- hope that your weather stayed "sane." And that you got to scrap.

Trudy- Happy birthday to your DH!!!

Sally- so good to see ya in here girlie!! I am going to check you blog in one minute. I looooove that New Hope quilt so much!
Tell Cora I hope she feels better too and that trig is hard enough to comprehend without a fever! She rocks!!
Hope that the germs don't pass along to the rest of the kids too.

Clara-- how did the appt go for Ethan??? I hope that you can find the answers he needs to succeed. Whew on the note from the teacher. As i was reading, I was thinking, jeez-- give the kid a break- he *just* started! But it sounds all good.
Both of my kids are going to be short. Gary is 6' and I am 4'11"-- sucks that they are taller than me but not enough to be tall. Oh well, there are worse things, right?

Uuuuuhhhhh, yeah... about Cait and being strong willed..... :frusty:

Kayleigh-- good luck with that baby. That's so hard when they cry like that. And most will go through those periods....

Better get myself motivated.....

Clara............how was Ethan's appt????? He is a great kid...I know this first hand  and he does need a break!!!! ANd as for your heat....HEAT PUMPS SUCK in general!!! WE have natural gas....it's good and warm!!!! DRY but warm!!!

Kayleigh.....Welcome to motherhood...first phase.....it will get better :)

ROFLLLLLLL NANA LINDA!!!!!!!! AHHHH!!!!!! That made my DAY!

Ladies.... as much as I hate living in California (and our new freaking governor who said if we disagree with his policies, then we're worse than the Egyptian president & was to see California go to ruin... grrr that irks me, you should NEVER say such crap about your opposition) I don't think I'd care much for all your snow!!!!!! We only had rain on Sunday... no hail or sleet on the valley floor. But five miles north of Jeff's work, the freeway turned to ice and there was a pile up. Other than that, we haven't had much weather more than fog since the holiday rain storms.

So I thought I was completely over this flu nonesense, like I was really on the mend, then yesterday it got worse. And I went to bed with a massive migraine. Which means I didn't fall asleep until 4am. And then I woke up at 7am with a fever and abdominal pain.

And of course I have three appraisal reports to go into work for today.

Nana can I borrow your gun?!?!

Good morning ladies!!

This heat thing is making me crazy. I think our number one issue is crappy thermostats. The second issue is that we have both a heat pump and natural gas. Who sets up a house like that? Wacko people that's who!! The thermostats are so bad. No programming and if you adjust one the other floor is all jacked up. Now my house feels like a sauna. We have someone coming to look at it tomorrow. Upstairs is almost 80 degrees and I'm feeling all clammy downstairs now. Ugh!!!! I can't win. Maybe the heat people will come up with a solution tomorrow.

So, Ethan's appointment went really well. I really like the doctor. He plans on seeing us several times to get a medication regiment set up for Ethan. His first prescription is not his final dosage. Just a starter to see if the medication will work before trying slow releases. he gave us a lot of great information that was good for both Ethan and Derek. He considered what did and didn't work for Derek in making considerations for Ethan. I also did some research yesterday about meds and found out that the reason some kids become zombies is not the medication itself but the amount they are taking. If they are zombies they are taking too much. That was interesting. He also explained that no medication will be the final answer...which was good to know for my husband who has needed to switch meds for about 2 years now. But he did say that many people can find 2 meds may work well and a person could be able to switch between the 2 for their entire life as long as they can find the right dosing. Between my research and what he told us I feel good about what we are doing. I am always very cautious about online research and hate it when people do it but I tried to stay with good sites and keep an open mind nonetheless and not hold on to it and the end all of information. I always hated it working in x-ray when people would come in telling me what they learned about online about x-ray or the condition they might have thinking they were experts. There is good info out there but it is not the end all of information by all means. The info has to be taken into consideration along with what your doctor says. I also found out that straterra...the non-amphetamine med for ADD is related to prozac (EEEEEK!!! That scared me). So, we'll start with ritalin and hopefully end up with Vyvanse although it will be expensive if that is what we end up with since that is one of the few things not covered by Tricare...but still a decent price comparatively to other copays. Ethan is excited about feeling better and being able to concentrate. He hates not being able to concentrate. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! I can breath!!!

Alright...I better go. A few personals really fast.

Chris - Maybe a cat diaper or something could help? You are so good to your kitty. My parents are dealing with similar issues with their dog. That is crazy about the active shooter drill. Derek had one not long ago at the hospital. He said after watching Grey's anatomy he knew it was a matter of time before they started doing them but that he would never ever complain about doing them. I remember the days of only doing fire drills and when throwing in an earth quake drill after the big California earthquake in the late 80s or early 90s had us start doing earthquake drills too. Hospitals do a lot of mass cal drills too, especially military hospitals. Craziness!!

Linda - Oh man! That snow. I have family in Northern Ohio and in Southern Michigan stuck in the snow. Eeeek!! My cousin's husband who is an undercover police officer even took a night off to stay at home so Southern Michigan is welcome to get high today I guess until after the blizzard goes away.

Nana - I think groundhogs are the dumbest creatures on earth. What do they know? And who on earth thought it was a good idea to leave the future of the weather to a groundhog? I think that is who needs to be shot!! You can come visit me here if you want. It has been decent here.

Meg - One word for you...BUBBLE!!!!!

Happy Groundhog Day everyone!!

Now Nana, keep your gun away from my little guy!! You are tooo funny! I still have not heard if the groundhog has seen his shadow here or not, but I am thinking he will say early spring. We must be one of the very few places that is not in winter and really haven't had much of a winter. :sorry: I wish I could send it your way everyone, I remember how much I hated winter on the prairie and really don't want to do that again!!

Clara - That is too bad that you are having such issues with your Heat Pump, we love ours and its all that we have, no backup gas furnace. I think that is how a lot of people do it, they use there heat pump when the weather is not too cold and only use the gas furnace for a backup, when the temps are very cold. Heat pumps are meant to be used in milder climates as they don't work well when there is a big temp. change. We love it in the summer too as it cools the house without that awful air conditioned feel. I hope that you get your problems solved quickly!!
Glad that you like your new doctor and that Ethan will soon be feeling more focused Yay!!

Meg - I'm with Clara, I think we need to find you a big bubble to live in!! My gosh girl, I have never heard of anyone with so much sickness, poor you!! I hope you are feeling better very soon!

Nana - why don't you put your gun away and come join me for some coffee and cake today? I wish you could!!

LindaS - I really hope that the snowplow does not make it to your place for awhile, you could stay home and enjoy being inside where its nice and warm!

Chris - Poor kitty! Perhaps a diaper would do the trick, like Clara suggested? You hate to see them this way, but 16 is getting up there, my cat is that age too, but I think he may live for quite a few more years, just to spite me! LOL I love him, but the hair!!! I vacuum almost everyday!!

Sally - Your quilt is gorgeous!! You do awesome work!! I hope that your daughter is feeling better today!

Off to do some scrapping today, no work today, horray!! Then going to supper for MG's birthday.....yummmmm!

Miss me? Ice knocked out my internet-missed work due to ice on my driveway. Trying out mr gorgeous? Phone!

oOoOoOoOok! Well today has been a bit easier then yesterday. She wasn't up as long and she wasn't as cranky but it was still tough. The piece of her umbilical cord still hasn't fallen off? They told me at the hospital it should only take 2 weeks? I've been cleaning it everyday with alcohol like they said but it's still hanging on. Any ideas?

As for me I'm doing great! The healing process is going REALLY fast. I feel awesome. Trying to adjust to being a lot busier then before. Oddly enough I still have time for all of my normal stuff just have to do it at different times lol

Chris - I hope the principal didn't scare you too bad ;) Hope all that snow clears up soon!

Clara - I'm so glad it went well!!!

Meg - Sorry you're still not feeling well! Take it easy!

Laurie - That sucks!! Everything back to normal now?

Kayleigh...don't worry about the umbilical cord. It will come off when it is ready. Just keep cleaning it and it will dry up and fall off eventually. everything is an estimate. I'm glad today was better.
