The numbers keep falling :)
32 Days until Spring!

Yup, the days are getting longer, thank goodness, now if we could just get the temps out of the teens. heh. Actually, tomorrow is supposed to be over 50* so I just have to be patient. *snorts* Me? Patient? I am funny dammit.

Yesterday was both eventful and uneventful. I picked up my groceries in the morning and that was boring. Expensive and boring. I talked to my mom for a while which was nice. I scrapped a page for Christopher's album and I am very happy with how it came out. AND!! Was even happier when I woke up and saw that @Cherylndesigns gave it a Standing O! Thank you!!

The eventful (not really eventful but compared to the rest of my day, it was :D ) part was taking J to the vet. The poor dog was so excited to get her leash, which made me laugh because she hates going for walks, and the only rides have been to the vet. As soon as I opened the door and she realized *where* she was, she tried to back herself into the car. I felt terrible about dragging her inside. Thank goodness the tech knows me well or I think they would have thought I abuse the poor girl. It took three of us to keep her still to get the staples out. Then I had the gall to ask the vet to check her ears, they were gunky. (The gall of me is from J's POV, not the vet. J was done, and wanted *out* ). Poor baby has ear infections. Yes, plural. One ear is a bacterial infection and the other ear has a yeast infection. Thankfully, the Rx is the same for both ears cuz there would be no way I could keep that straight. I took her back to the car while they get the meds ready. Scratch that. SHE took ME to the car. Literally dragged me through two doors, opened them by pushing them with her paw. It felt like I had run a marathon when I walked in the door. I am crossing all of my fingers and toes that there is no reason to take her back for a while.

I am *finally* cleaning here today. I was going to do that last week but hurt my back and the last few days I have been a lazy ol' slug. Everything is so dusty. I will be sneezing my head off for sure.

HAGD!!

@tanteva I have Bitmoji, I wonder what I look like in there... *G* It's been a while since I used it. How did you save the image? To your phone and then send it to your computer?
Funny that you and Trudy mentioned allergies, I had checked my local allergy report, and Dust and Dander were listed as Extremely High. Maybe with the heat on a lot and the dry air, that could be causing any dust/dander allergies to kick up?
Whatever it is, I hope that you are feeling better every day.

@LSlycord HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE the LO!!! The 80s were special times :D:D:D
How awesome to have access to the photos and a great idea to create a book of them. That is going to be a special project. You are going down the history rabbit hole, how amazing to start that again.
Nosy question and as always, no pressure to answer. When you did the DNA with your kids, did they know anything about their bio parents before? Christopher knows he's adopted but I don't think he knows anything about her. IIRC, my brother and SIL have sent some photos to the adoption agency but that was it. Bio dad was never in the picture. I guess it is my nosy nature that wonders, especially with his musical talent. Makes my mind wander a bit. BTW- can you believe that he is going to be 11 this year????
Oh, you really are bringing back some of the oldies but goodies-- As I have been cleaning out my hard drives- I have an entire folder of old Oscraps designers, so many things by Nina and Amanda! I bet the alpha by Vicki is Glitzy Alpha or something like that? I have it too!LOL!
ugh, sorry to hear about the bite. Has Decker backed off a bit? I swear the line between playing and fighting is so thin and wiggly. You got this!

@BrightEyes how are you today? Believe it or not, I am feeling the best I have in a long time. Talk to me later this afternoon after I clean my house... but for now, I am good. *winks*
Hope you didn't overdo it with the errands

I am hoping that Rae is having a successful trip too. Has anyone seen or heard from her?

@taxed4ever How was the hairdresser? All cleaned up and looking fresh again. Happy birthday to Heather! All good thoughts to her and the family while they are on the road. I bet you cannot wait until everyone Facetimes with you and you see all of the love and chaos.

@Cherylndesigns TY again for the SO :D
Eeeeeep. *knock wood for you* How can you risk jinxing yourself by saying that you are sleeping well? gah! :D I am really glad that you are. What Rx are you taking? Gary has terrible RLS and sleeps on the sofa more often than we would like. Guess he is lucky, he has diabetes *and* RLS haha I know how to pick 'em. :D You are right and I don't think many Drs consider how poor sleep affects everything else going in the body. keep it up!! Woo hoo!
Yup, no idea what "normal" is, and not sure I'd ever want to be normal anyway. Unless it is normal to have skeletons wearing sombreros in the LR.

Enjoy the sunshine and warm weather for me, please!!! It is sunny right now but 17*F blech!

@mom2triplets04 Sorry that you had to go to the dentist. I don't mind the dentist but that is how I am at the eye dr. I dread going for my eye exams and having to make decisions about which is blurrier or clearer. Forget about getting my eyes dilated. *feels a bit woozy* Hope that you have a relaxing day today!

@BrightEyes Thanks for the heads up about needing a nap. I am really sorry that you ran out of steam but I know I will need to pace myself. How wonderful to catch up with your cousin's wife!

xoxo

Good morning ladies. Yesterday was relatively uneventful...some errands and that takes forever! Work computer is shipping. The headset arrived. Hopefully the computer will arrive today. Keep in mind that it is shipping from about 20 miles away.

The Florida weather has returned. We are going to be 74* today, 82* tomorrow...well, you get my drift. And I am so, so happy. Wish I could share it with you ladies where it is cold. Of course, it won't be long and it will be too hot and humid for me to leave the house. But for now, I'm going to enjoy this!

My coffee cup is empty and I need to get my paper shredder emptied so I can continue to make progress. I'll be back soon.

@faerywings not nosy at all. Neither of my kids have any information at all about any biological relationships. They were both adopted during China's "One Child Policy" time so they were abandoned without any information. It would have been illegal for their parents to keep them but it also would have been illegal for their parents to abandon them. So the abandonments had to be done in secret. So far, neither of my kids have DNA matches at more than a 3rd cousin level. Not close enough to really learn anything. Maybe someday something will pop up. Neither Syd nor Shaun is interested but someday they may be. And I absolutely cannot believe he will be 11! That time has gone so fast! Of course, I am less than 2 weeks from both of my children being adults. And, of course, you are getting very close to having no students in your family! Wow! (Love your skeleton with the sombrero btw!)

@Cherylndesigns so happy that you are getting some good sleep with the new meds. I can't imagine how hard RLS is because I know how awful it is for me if my legs jump in the night (and it is infrequent).
Yay for you in the 70's. Of course that is shorts weather. So remind me...were you originally from Michigan and then relocated to Florida and then to Oklahoma? I love the stories of peoples' lives.
We have the wood look tile as well. I love it. Except that it makes me tired when I cook on it all day for a big meal. However, I got some of those nice foam pads from Amazon and it really helps.
And you are 100% right about how I'll be in here complaining about the heat and humidity soon! I'm guessing by May! (It would be April but I'll be too busy with company.)

@taxed4ever happy 40th birthday to your Heather. I know that you wish that you could give her a big in person hug but so glad she is taking the boys and the puppy to her brother's to celebrate. Glad that you got your hair appointment in. I am getting a long overdue haircut tomorrow. I think pretty much just a trim but who knows what I will say when I get there.

@mom2triplets04 glad that you got the dental work done. I have never minded the dentist until last time. I was apprehensive because they put me on an antibiotic for a cleaning because of my heart. So they had a new hygienist (3rd one in the two years since I have been going). I shared that I usually don't mind the cleanings but that I was anxious because of what was going on with my health. Well, first she was rough but I just figured I'd deal with it. Then she started scolding me about my flossing. I use the dental floss picks and she said that wasn't good enough and she would "teach" me. I told her not today. But she decided to dig in her heals. Well, I can dig mine in too. Wound up leaving before she polished my teeth. Told the office she wasn't going to touch my teeth again and that she needs some people skills.

@BrightEyes I am glad that you got your errands in AND your nap. Good to do both!

Just to explain my mental state today. Woke up, knew it was Tuesday yesterday ... but also knew it was Wednesday tomorrow. Have absolutely no idea what I thought today was. LOL

It was about 3pm when I realized something was not right. Guess it's Thursday tomorrow, and I work all day. I hope I will not be too tired. It's a long day.

The plow truck just was here outside. Scared the craps out of the cats. I have the most scared cats in the world. They're afraid of everything, especially Discord. Mårten at least isn't afraid of other people, but Discord he hide upstairs whenever there's someone here.

Dinner is ready, now I'm just waiting for Urban. He should be home any minute though. Made something thai-ish with mushrooms, veggies and coconut milk. Serve with rice. Hope it turned out ok.

Good Morning everyone! It is a beautiful sunny day and perfect weather for hiking today! I will be getting my backpack all ready to go soon. It sure will be good to be out in the sunshine and fresh air! A great hike to Christie Falls this morning. Yesterday it was good to have my hair cut and coloured! I keep thinking that I should change my hair style, but no idea as to what?? Anyway I will be quick in here and then get ready for my hike. I have decided its time for me to get back to swimming too. The weight is falling off of my DH but its slowly creeping up for me darn it!! I need to get back to being more active and stop eating when I am not hungry!! Thanks for the Birthday wishes for our Heather! I can hardly believe that she is 40 years old!! I bet she can hardly believe it either LOL. When we called her last night, she was feeling a bit sad about it. I felt the same way when I turned 40, but the other milestone birthdays have never really bothered me much. Please send good vibes her way as she travels to Ottawa to be with her brother and family! Ok off I go to get ready, sorry no personals today, but I know you ladies are ok with that. I just love you all so much!

OHMYGOSH - this is the FIRST thing I saw and now I'm laughing SO hard!!! You kill me, girl - Braxton looks SO dashing in that sombrero! You just made my whole day!!! You're so welcome on the Standing O! I just fell in love with that layout.

So, Gary has BOTH??? Wow, he really hit the lottery, didn't he??? I'm glad I mentioned my problem - I take Pramipexole - it's actually for Parkinson's but they discovered that it works for RLS too. (That's the medication Chuck's friend recommended for me and it works!) I was on .5 and my doctor just raised it to 1.0 and it's been a miracle. My sister takes the same med and she takes it more frequently than I do. I take mine before we sit down to watch TV in the evening because that's when mine kicks in. If Gary has it, then you know how terrible it can be. You literally feel like you're going crazy. I hope he can try this medication. I've been on it for a long time and I think the dosage has just worn off, so I was happy that my doctor doubled the dose.

There's a share option in the app, I used that one, and e-mailed it to myself. I think it's so funny to play with Bitmoji. It's like when I was a kid and played with paper dolls.

Completely normal ...... LOL
I email them to myself, then save them to my computer, too. I found out that was the easiest way to do it.

I also have them in my text messages - and I use mine a lot on texts.

Linda @LSlycord that's so interesting about your kids. No wonder you're so interested in genealogy. They might get interested in finding out more someday. I didn't really care when I was a kid, but of course, I knew how my family was even to great grandparents. The older I got, the more I started looking. I was always told by my maternal grandfather that we were part Cherokee and I adored that fact. I tried and tried to prove it, but have come up with nothing. Now that we live practically in The Cherokee Nation, I REALLY wish I COULD prove it. I have always felt like I was and have had this unexplainable "pull" to the Native American Culture.

Yes, we are originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. My husband got transferred with GM to the Detroit area and we lived there until we went to Florida. Then, my son-in-law (who IS part Cherokee) hatched this idea that we all move to 50 acres in Oklahoma and live on our own "ranch". We came out here for vacation and fell in love. He's originally from this area. This has been a dream come true for me because I've wanted to live in the country my whole life and never have been able to.

Glad you're getting the Florida weather finally. You're pretty far north and east of where we lived, but you'll get it. You're right about the tiles being hard, too. Those mats help a lot.

I'd better get off here - cleaning day and I need to pick up a few things. She didn't come two weeks ago, so I assume she's coming today.

Hugs to all.

Seeing the Florida temps is just hard to believe. We have had snow cover since January 17th! It has been above freezing some days with some snow melt, even a little rain, since then. But we started with 15 inches and have continued to get more so that we've always had at least a few inches on the ground. Now it's windy and warming and supposed to rain a bunch tonight and tomorrow with, of course, flood warnings.

Today is the big day. Registration opened for the summer genealogy courses in Pittsburgh that are again going to be on Zoom. I registered for one in the June week on writing. The July week doesn't open until 2:00 and I'm still trying to decide whether to take another class then, probably the one on New Jersey research.

Chris @faerywings I'm so happy to "hear" you feeling so much better. And back to telling stories that are funny (J at the vet) even though it can't have been funny in the moment. Love the spring countdown and Braxton looks great. Thank you for spreading sunshine!

Linda, @LSlycord is it exciting having the equipment for the new job on the way? I'm delighted in your renewed interest in family history. It's hard for me to believe I've been so active in it for over 20 years. Where does the time go? Speaking of time going, I'm guessing one or both of your kids will develop some level of interest in their biological origins at some point in life. That seems to apply to lots of folks as they get older.

Eva @tanteva even when I "know" what day of the week it is, sometimes I have to stop and remember. Sure hope you aren't too tired for a day at work. Did you manage to get more groceries? As tough as it is to decide what/how to cook for dinner, it is much easier with the right stuff. ;)

Trudy @taxed4ever sorry H is feeling the new age, but that can hit when you least expect it. For me the first time I felt it was 30 (anyone old enough to remember "don't trust anyone over 30"?) When we hit our 30th wedding anniversary that was unbelievable. How could we have been married that long when we couldn't even be that old? But all of that is distant in the rear view mirror! When DH hit 80 was scary but we still keep on keeping on. Today's hike sounds wonderful. Hope you have a great time.

Cheryl @Cherylndesigns I guess I didn't realize you started the migrations in Indiana. That's been an interesting journey. About Cherokee heritage, it could be true, but an awful lot of people have that in family stories but find they aren't true. What you have now is better than something from the past anyway.

Felis @felis I have to add my wish that you'd post here no matter if you're feeling up or down, scrapping or not. And I did scrap the orchid but no poinsettia for now (though it's still sitting here looking nice.)

Hope everyone is doing well and Rae is finding that new house!

Jean @scrap-genie thanks for that - you're right, and it makes me feel better. I still feel that connection and now, here I am. Yes, we've had quite a journey. We decided we're all just a band of Gypsies. Ava and I were laughing about all the places we've lived - she's only 21 and has lived in so many different houses and 2 different states. I never thought I'd leave Indiana but then we got transferred to Detroit. My parents still lived there when they passed away a few years ago and I have one sister who's still there. My brother has gotten transferred to different states for his job, too and my other sister has lived all over the place.

Don't worry, my dear life is circle, in no time I'll be back on the saddle ride off into the sunset!
This year will be remarkable. Even the big pain and this new kind of fear make this year remarkable!

Thank you so much for sharing with us these beautiful flowers, it made my day! I'm even more impressed by the Sarracenia's one as I'm trying to care for one from few months, but not very successfully I'm afraid!
