Well, I can't honestly say that 2014 was all bad. The bad was sorta bad (could always have been worse, eh?) and the good was really good. I do feel emotionally stronger than I did this time last year. Not to say that I didn't have many, many meltdowns and/or shutdowns. Shutdowns seemed to be more common than the meltdowns. Much easier to deal with in the short run, but sometimes ya just gotta let things fly :hurt:
Good stuff with my family- Scott's graduation and amazing start in college. Cait really coming into her own. The bad times (too many to list bwuahahah!!) seemed to bring us closer and closer.

So that is about all the time I got for introspection. I have to get to Shop Rite as soon as it opens at 7am, so I can get back home and unpacked (I hate when other people unpack the groceries, becasue then I never can remember what I bought.). Out the door with scott for his consult with the Oral Surgeon, which is .... 45 minutes away, of course. (How many times have you heard me say that just about *everything* is 45 min's away LOL). On the way home, we are going to stop and visit with MIL to see if she needs any help or just to visit a bit. She has her wrist now casted from her fingers to above her elbow. This makes it hard for her to get around since she can't use her crutches for her broken foot.

When we get back home, Gary and I have to do a dressing change on my Line. It is in, I had a successful, albeit very long, IV last night. But wow! I am bruised but good. The nurse who did the insertion was new. The nurse who did my last one was supervising so I know that everything was done ok. But at one point she couldn't get the guide wire into my vein and was pushing at it and wow, that hurt. She had to pull the wire out and try again. That time it was fine. (Procedure is a needle inserted into the vein, a guide wire threads into the vein, catheter is pushed through the guide wire and one the catheter is in place, the guide wire is removed.)

We are not doing anything for New Years. Since I was a kid, I hated this holiday. Maybe Hate is too strong a word, but it always seems to me unnecessarily sappy and emotional. To me, it is just another day and a little more effort in remembering the right year to write on the checks.

Oh and looking back to yesterday's post, I did get my insurance payment straightened out, and I was able to get an appt with eye dr on Jan 8. And I ordered the abdominal band for my post-surgery needs.

Do I live an FUN life or WHAT???
:bounce:
(Who wants to be me????LOL)

I have to get running yet again, but I will do quick personals today since I never got back yesterday.

QOTD Do you make New Years Resolutions? Me, nope. I used to but then would fail and give up.

xoxo

good morning - this year went so fast. When I did my Christmas card letter I could not believe how much I traveled and that was fun and my only resolution this year is to keep on traveling. So much to see. Yesterday I got in a walk it was cold but not too bad. Today should be colder though. Tonight going out with friends to dinner. Then home to watch the ball drop on TV.

Chris glad the line was inserted sorry about the pain. Just enjoy the day!

Trudy sorry its a bummer when a post is lost! Hope it is not too cold by you

Phylis come back!

Have a great day all and a happy end to the year!

Chris, sounds like the balance sheet worked out to a plus for your day. You have more things to consider for that evaluation than most do.

I was neutral about NYE until our first child was born this day 42 years ago. After he grew out of parties with his parents, we fell into a new tradition. One of the couples closest to us has hosted a NYE pinochle party for over 20 years. I think we've been to all of them. It is getting harder and harder to stay awake until midnight, but we have managed so far. The pinochle is really only a vehicle for the fellowship. The games are not for money...just fun.

As to NY resolutions? Nope. Like you said, Chris, it's just another day. Change within has to come because of personal conviction, not a date on a calendar.

So, everyone! Enjoy the last day of 2014, as tomorrow you will have to begin writing 2015!

Kind of sad to say good-bye to 2014!! It has been a very busy year and not a bad year at all!! I must say we have had much worse that's for sure!! But oh my it did fly by didn't it!!

Chris - This is not my favourite holiday either, when we were younger it was fun, but yuck the thought of kissing a bunch of strangers at a huge crowded party is not something that I would do now!!

come to think of it, I really didn't like it back then either :becky:
Sorry that you are all bruised today, hope it feels better soon! I must get out to the grocery store early this morning too, :mmph: Glad you are getting things straightened out with Scotts teeth and all your other needs!! Hope your New Years Eve is Peaceful for you!!

Nancy - Cold and crisp here too, but it was nice to get out for a walk in the sunshine and fresh air!! I would love to travel more also, but it seems whatever travelling I do is go see my children, who live to darn far away!! Enjoy your dinner tonight!! Hope you have a lovely New Years Eve!!

To all those who pop in here, may your last day of 2014 be a happy one!! May 2015 bring you joy and health and much creativity !!

Am enjoying sunshine here! It's cold with a dusting of snow but a lovely day. Now if the world will just cooperate.

Chris, you have so much energy to face all that comes your way! Sorry it was painful getting the line in, but at least it's done. Hope all goes well with Scott's consult. As to NYE I enjoy seeing the celebrations on TV. For Y2000 I watched for Central and Mountain time as well as Eastern and of course they showed them from other parts of the world too. But we've never been big on partying ourselves.

Nancy, really, sometimes it seemed you were barely home from one trip and then off on another. Your pages on the trips were wonderful. Hope you continue that next year.

Shar, your NYE story is probably a little different beginning with your baby's birth. The card party sounds great too.

Phylis, where are you? :noidea: Missing your take on it all. Hope you feel more the thing soon.

QOTD: I don't think I ever got into NY resolutions and sure don't now (I'd never keep them!) I have tried word of the year and sometimes that is encouraging.

Happy New Year to all.

Trudy, looks like we were posting at the same time too! Hope you have an nice evening as well.

LOL, Trudy. Very strange how we keep doing that, esp. since I see that neither of us actually posts at the same time by the clock every day.

The only person I kiss at midnight is Captain Romance.

Travel: About 3/4 of our travel is to visit DD and her big family (5 kids). Way easier now that they are in Utah instead of Pennsylvania. I just bought a ROUND TRIP ticket for $141 !!!!!!!!! The other 1/4 is mostly to AZ to play golf. Just passed up a Mexican Riviera cruise with friends that would have cost under $2,000 for the TWO of us! My trip to UT is right in the middle, but even if it weren't, I'd rather spend that money going to UT or AZ. My travel desires have changed a lot in the last 5 years.

I admire you gals who get out and walk in the cold weather. When I was young I did that, but now my hips protest too much.

See you all next year!
