I closed yesterday's post with this:
Snow is pretty. It will look so festive.
Maybe I was being a little *too* optimistic. Maybe a bit more positive than the weather deserved. ;)
Maybe some snow is pretty and festive, but not what we got. It was heavy and mushy and slushy. Crunchy on the lawn. The temps hovered right above and right below freezing all day, which makes it just yucky. (Yuckier)
I texted Scott early in the day to let him know that if the roads were in bad shape to not feel obligated to drive up. The town and county had their acts together with salt prepping. A little too together, honestly. When I drove back from the grocery store, all of the salt/grit/whatever they used was pushed to the middle and sides of the roads. That was before the snow had started. But my road was clear and usually, if you can get off my road in one piece, the main roads are in better shape. Sometimes, not always.

Our tree is up, decorated, and it looks very pretty (talk to me on Dec 26 and see how I feel about it hahah!). Today I have to do the light tabletop decorating and get the boxes back into the attic.
I have to clean for my friend this afternoon and we have leftover pizza for dinner. No need to cook! Yippppeeeee!

Today's challenge looks like it will be la ot of fun:

Day 3 - Holiday/Winter ATC or Journal Cards | CHALLENGE

I'll be sure to use some more from the collab:
DAY 3 - WINTER FUN DOWNLOAD

Hugs to you all!

Good morning! The Gallery is poppin'! Does anyone ever say poppin' anymore? Oh well, not going to worry about being relevant at this point in life. ;)
LOL!! I am with you. Who can keep up with kids these days? :giggle4:
I had to Google that silly 6-7 thing after working at a Scout Badge program. Made no darn sense to me at all.
The drive to the pharmacy proved to me that I can still drive in the snow...and I can walk through the parking lot without falling down. So many accomplishments!
Was that the first time you have driven in snow since you moved to FL? How did the car handle? You had me LMBO over the not falling down as an accomplishment. IKWYM!
Oatmeal Lace Cookie Day.
Recipe, please! I have a ton of Quicks Oats from the FP and Cait prefers the rolled oats when she makes overnight oats. Yes, I am cutting back on the amount/types of cookies I make but if I can swap out a more complicated and expensive cookie with something else, I'd love to try!
I hope J's surgery can wait!
Glad Gary's retinopathy is stable! Yes, the cataracts are fixable! Mine haven't done much in the past couple of years.
We were supposed to call the surgeon yesterday and we forgot. I hope that it can wait, the recovery period smack in the middle of the holidays is going to be tough on her and us.
Glad to hear that your eyes are doing ok too!
Did you get the FedEx package without having to wait too much? Not sure if FedEx has the same feature, but you can track the UPS trucks online.

There's only two more rehearsals until our community chorus concert. We're supposed to have three of the pieces memorized -- I'm not sure our new, quite young, director knows what he's asking a bunch of mostly old folks. I'll get the words down but I can't remember the alto part without looking at music, so I'll either lip sync or just sing the melody. Or more likely just something I come up with at the moment. Oof.
:rotfl:
At least you *can* sing. I make the dogs howl. LOL
I have a hard time with Gallery comments too-- but for me it's because I feel like I say the same things over and over. Like I get one work in my head- "spectacular!" and I use it in every comment. pfft.
Those darn cataracts don't seem to have developed at all and I'm still waiting for the corrected distance vision!
I joked with Gary about the same thing-- I wish I had cataracts to fix my distance vision. Since I got my new contacts more for closer vision for work (bug ID was difficult when I couldn't actually see a bug LOL), my distance is not as stong, Not the best for driving is I need to read signs
DD#1 just left for the airport to fly home. DD#3 came down late yesterday afternoon and stayed to have supper with DD#1, her son and me.... then us gals had a nice visit. Grandson left right after supper... he wasn't interested in "our gal talk".... :floorlaugh:
Always a wonderful time with your girls and the "gal talk." ♥
Please stop hoarding the snow!! Send it back and I will gladly send you this crap rain we're still getting. An ice rink that is polished has more traction than our roads right now. Not amused.
You wouldn't have wanted this snow at all. Of course, now all of the slush is iced over and Cait has to leave for work in a few minutes.
Hope that you were careful walking on the ice for your errands.

Jaida needs to go out-- BRB!

Because of the severity of the infection and possible kidney damage from the treatment, he has to stay in hospital for 2-3 wks.
Oh Rae, that is awful news. Logically, it makes total sense, but how sad for both of you.
It's reassuring to know that he is in good hands, especially when they are keeping such a close eye on his kidney function. Had my mom not been so stubborn about getting to the hospital when hers failed, they might have been able to slow the progression of damage. It must still be incredibly stressful. You always have a good perspective on life, but if you ever need to vent, you know we are all here for you. ((((((((HUGS)))))))

Yay for getting your order, Vicky!

Hugs to you all!
I love that you are including the event links here!

Good morning,
Dealing with a headache today.
There's a heavy frost and the temperature is below freezing. I'm glad it was warmer yesterday while we were getting rain!
Finally got my order from Persnickety with about 30 minutes left in fedex's time slot. He didn't want a signature either! So why the big production about me not being home on Monday????? Whatever!
Not much going on here today. I was going to Ilene's but not with this headache. With the Persnickety order there was a card announcing a 25% off sale so I want to have all of my pages for 2025 done and ready to order that first week of January during the sale.
Have a great day!

Good morning O'Ladies! I love to be able to drop in here and check to see how you are all doing. Getting a late start this morning. I was up very late last night...putting the finishing touches on some toys and helping the Big Guy out. It really is the best time of year! Hope that your "to do" list is getting shorter and that you have a good tray of cookies to get you through the day!

Good morning. I have a big mystery...how did I work and get all the things done? Because now that I don't work, I don't get anything done. Of course, I read more now and I cook more now. And I nap more too! And I scrap more. Well, how about that? @:rotfl:Mystery solved!

Syd called at about 6 last night. They asked if she could do one more site visit for a field test. So she's going with a couple of other women from work. The test runs from 2-10 and they will spend the night at a hotel and go back to work tomorrow. She is counting down the days...think she is a little sad. But then, this morning, she got an interview request with Campbell's Company...always will be Campbell's Soup to me. Anyway, I'm sure that there will be so many, many more interviews before we have any idea where she is landing. So I'm going to be practicing embracing the unknown in 2026! LOL

Dealing with a headache today.

Sounds like a very good day to get some rest and do nothing! And sounds like your albums are going to be fire!

Was that the first time you have driven in snow since you moved to FL? How did the car handle? You had me LMBO over the not falling down as an accomplishment. IKWYM!
I had driven in snow but not right after a big snow where everything was still slick and unpleasant. I will definitely get back here with the Lace Cookie recipe. It is actually Shaun's favorite!

Be back soon!

I had a hitch put on my car today so we can take the bikes with us to Florida when/if we go next month. It was a very pleasant experience, nice people, and it took an hour less and $100 less than the estimate, so I don't feel too bad about forgetting to bring my checkbook and having to pay the extra 3% for using the card. I never write checks anymore.

On the way home, since I was driving past Kohls, I stopped to buy my angel tree items. The tag I got asked for some clothes, which was easy enough, and the option of a gift card from Target. But I'm not shopping Target these days, so I got her gift receipts for the items and she can exchange them if she needs to.

However, since I was at Kohls, I decided to try on a pair of jeans just for laughs, and was shocked that I can wear a size 16, so I of course had to buy them. I've gone from 22W to 16 in 4 months, and I have about 3 things in my closet that don't look sloppy when I put them on.

I have also been trying to work through all the food in my freezer instead of buying more, so tonight it's just defrosting and heating some leftover chili mac. So easy, I could get used to this.

So...it's best he stay there. Plus, they said if he develops any kidney problems they need to be on top of that immediately. They are testing numerous times throughout the day so they are taking good care of him.
I hope this feels like the right choice, it certainly seems so. It must be comforting to know he's being watched over so well. Sending hopes and good energy for quick healing.

bug ID was difficult when I couldn't actually see a bug
For a couple years I volunteered with an organization that monitored stream health by collecting and counting the bugs in various places. I never could get any good at identifying them, they all look the same to me. I finally decided that just wasn't where I could be most good. (Hmm, I seem to have flopped at several volunteer jobs since I retired. Never thought about that before. I'm going to look at it as the freedom to try all kinds of activities since I don't need to get paid to succeed.)

Morning Lovely O Fam.

It was heavy and mushy and slushy. Crunchy on the lawn. The temps hovered right above and right below freezing all day, which makes it just yucky. (Yuckier)
Yep, that sounds yucky yucky!!! If its gonna snow it needs to stay in the 20's not bounce around freeze thaw.
I have a hard time with Gallery comments too-- but for me it's because I feel like I say the same things over and over. Like I get one work in my head- "spectacular!" and I use it in every comment. pfft.
I struggle too. I get stuck on Stunning! LOL But if I'm commenting on a layout its usually because I found it stunning.
Hope that you were careful walking on the ice for your errands.
You know it was bad cause I wore boots not my Birkenstocks. That's how you know its icy. I almost never change out of my birks but yesterday, yeah needed extra tread.
Finally got my order from Persnickety with about 30 minutes left in fedex's time slot. He didn't want a signature either! So why the big production about me not being home on Monday?????
I think, personally, they put comments like that and reasons for not delivering when they just dont want to deliver or they're late with said delivery. I think its a game. There are times I have been home all day and will get "attempted deliver no one home" which is crap cause the next day they just leave it on my outdoor stairs. No knock no nothing.
I love to be able to drop in here and check to see how you are all doing.
We love seeing you here! Always brings a festive sparkle to the day.

Linda, glad you figured out the mystery. It's amazing when we start reading and scrapping how we dont get much else done @LSlycord

@Terri M Yeah for the bike rack!!!! I want one on my car so badly. We have to drive a couple miles to get to bike paths. Our roads near the house done even have shoulders, so the white line is the drop off to the ditch, so we dont ride from home. How fun to be able to take the bikes to FL and ride in the sunshine. Sounds amazing.

Well, here goes, first Wednesday back after surgery. Its gonna be busy but will be fun to see everyone again. We're making chili, cornbread, salad and Rice Krispie treats. I love the chili recipe as its full of veggies, celery, red bell peppers, green bell peppers, onions, and seasonings. Mmmmmmm I just always forget to add it all when I make it at home for the family. Well, better run, need to shop for dinner too so I need extra time since I am out of practice. Have a wonderful day!

Morning, all. I slept in a bit as I was reading until 11PM.... Been busy scrapping this morning. Have another kit I need to work with ASAP. Hope all of you have been getting the daily downloads...

Our area is now under a weather alert... may have snow tonight and into tomorrow. Not a lot in town but the mountain passes to the east, the north, and maybe to the west are under a weather warning later today. Hope DSon-in-law#1 makes it back into town this afternoon before the pass to the east gets bad.

BBL - Sister is calling.

Great work, Terri!
I stopped to buy my angel tree items
We used to do this at the church we were in in Buffalo, WV many years ago!

YUM! Sounds delicious!

Can you share the recipe?

@LSlycord I hear you about retiring...when I first stopped working I was wasting allot of time so I would go around the house and yard to make a list of what needed to be done. It felt good to make better use of my time.

@faerywings Your comments about snow make me laugh. I love to see pic's of snow. I can relate to all the comments, especially the mess as it thaws. How nice that you have your tree up and can enjoy it, did @Buddy the O' Elf help you?

@vickyday I hope the headache is gone so you can get back to your busy life.

@bcgal00 Hard as it is the hospital is the best place they are qualified to care and will be able to help right away. It would have been exhausting for you if you had to drive him every day for that special care. Wishing him a speedy recovery so hopefully he can be back home for Christmas.

@AK_Tracy I wish you could have snow since you love it so much. LOL your Birk's story but changing to boots was a really good idea.

Tomorrow I have PT then I see the surgeon for follow-up I hope to be done with PT. Today I cleaned our refrigerator that we will put up for sale when our new appliances get here next week. We got another quote for the AC-heat for the house $$$$. Talked to the two oldest grandchildren today and they told me of the snow driving they did to get home yesterday..all is fine.

I pray the surgeon says you are good to go and no more PT!
The headache is mostly gone but still in the background!
