Is everyone recovered from the holidays? I am getting there. I need more time to get myself organized. That might take a millennium. Or two. *wink*

The kitchen is all cleaned and most of the laundry is all caught up. Whew.
We even had time to play a game of Argue. It is a bit confusing at first, but once we got the hang of it, it was funny. Not only do you have to argue a specific point, whether you believe it or not, you can add Distractions to your opponent. Leah gave Scott the card to "Argue like a baby." He sounded like a toddler throwing a tantrum. I won the game since Cait and I were tied and we had to argue why the other person should win. Cait gave me the Distraction that I had to start every sentence with Sir or Madam. I gave her one that she had to sing her argument. Scott voted for me after I said, "Madam, you suck"

I also finally finished a scrap page from last week for the 12 Days event. It was almost done, just needed some journaling so that was good to get it done and uploaded.

Today I am off to the supermarket and I have no ideas whatsoever on what to cook.

So not much else is new. I told Gary that after I got home from ShopRite, I was going to do nothing, He snorted and said that he would believe it when he saw it. I sadly agree....
But I am going to try!

Love and hugs!

Jean- it is frigid here too. We are supposed to get highs in the *teens* all week. Don't like that one bit.
That was a very thoughtful gift from your DH! I thought of you on Christmas too!! My ILs got Ancestry DNA kids for me and the firstborn grandkids on each side, so Scott got one too. I can't wait to see what it shows.
Oh, and can you answer a question for me? Cait wanted to get one too and said that hers would be different slightly from Scott's- that they have different genes. I thought that had the same genes, but is only how they are expressed that is different. Do you how that works? Thanks!
I am so excited for you for the book, I am sure that once everyone gets it, you will hear lots of amazing feedback.
Yes, definitely- the dogs have replaced little kids. Right now Gary is chasing W around the house with one of her toys.

Felis- how was your stress-free day? Sounds perfect, taking a nap and reading and watching Christmas movies. Yum, Bailey's is good!
My stomach needs real food. My mom brought up mozzarella sticks wrapped in prosciutto and I adore that. I ate some and I don't eat beef or pork and I think my stomach is saying "Why did you do that?"

Rae- I love that you have been enjoying your family time!

Hugs again...

good morning - well we had a lovely family Christmas at my son and DILs. Had prime rib and we all brought something. Everyone was happy and no stress so it was really fun. We started planning our trip to Alaska excursions. I love that it is coming together. I so want to see Orcas. I got two new NJ Devils hats how fun is that. Then yesterday we were out early to head down to my favorite birding spot Brigantine. I was hoping to see lots of snow geese. Well they were there but they flew off. But did see a peregrine falcon pair so that was so exciting. Surprised at how many hooded mergansers were floating around. And there were lots of sandpiper types (peeps) which I could never get a good look at. Took lots of photos so that too was fun. While the day was sunny is was cold and very windy. My DH is still having trouble with the digital camera. The photos were fine at the beginning of the day but then he changed a setting and I am not sure what he changed and then there is a huge black stripe along the bottom - I think it has to do with the shutter not syncing with aperture. I asked him what he had changed and he got mad at me. If this is the camera he is using on the trip I think he should know what he is doing LOL. But we did get some really good photos. Now I am happy as I saw my birds. But boy is is cold here in NJ. Today I have a hockey game so it will be cold walking to the rock. Yea hockey is finally back in the NHL after their Christmas break. I miss the hockey but I think they should get a break. Enjoying being in my nice warm house right now. My DH has taken Luther out for walk so I don't have to. We have been having left overs from Christmas dinner so that is fun. I will cook tonight. Also yesterday was the start of the World juniors hockey tournament. The USA defeated Denmark 9-0. Denmark is a very small country so my team should have defeated them. Today is a day off for my team but then they will Slovakia and on Friday if the weather permits they will play outdoors against Canada. I hope they do it is fun to see outdoor games. Canada won its game so these two teams will have a hard fought game. So fun seeing the Devils prospects playing on the various countries's teams. Joey Anderson the Captain of the USA team is a Devils prospect.

Chris good luck at the store. My son constantly tells me that even if he does not like what I cook, the fact that there is food is good enough for him. Too funny. I bet your kids feel the same way though your kids actually cook. Your Christmas sounded so nice. Glad that your stress is over! And boy is it cold. Good luck staying warm. My girlfriend gave me a heated throw blanket and oh is it nice. I would use it upstairs but they warn that cats are know to kneed blankets and might shock themselves and that would not be good for my kitty. Chris I am not totally good at genetics but they have similar genes but not totally the same since one got an X and one a Y from Gary. Also you have two sets of X so there is no way to say that they each got the same X from you. And so there are 23 pairs of chromosomes so you can imagine how many combinations you can get. And yes there are differences in expression of the genes so that too causes differences. So if Cait does it too it will be fun to see the similar and the different. Hope that helps.

Rae so glad that your holidays and family time are so wonderful.

Jean that is awesome about the book and all the nice compliments. And yes we are feeling your cold. Stay warm.

Felis what a lovely day in bed reading and watching movies. Hope it continues for a while!

Waving to Trudy!

Hello girls,
yes I just love my free time. I'll have to be back on work on January 2nd, so I have free time in this whole year :) . All hard work before the holidays it was worth to have this now! For Christmas I received books, cosmetics and yes, Chris, cat food :) , so now I enjoy my gifts.
The book I chose, started very interesting, like a story for magical creatures which are real and actually they are nothing more than wild beasts. It was so promising beginning, but now I'm disappointed it's turns too sexsual for puritan like me, I'm Jane Austen type of girl, not Sex and the City. So disappointing that the author is screwed one good idea because of her appetites. I'll try to read one more till I'm free.
Yesterday I forgot a roll kitchen paper outside of the cabinet, and of course cats are take it immediately. So when I opened the door today, decoration of small 'snowflakes' everywhere welcomed me. I was in good mood, so found this for very funny and creative from their side.
Here is unusual warm. But dad told me that in the news are show that somewhere in US have a huge snow storms. I hope all there are safe, and that you are live away from there!

Chris, exist something called The Punnett square, which predict how the genes are inherited form the kids. I can't explain it on scientific english, but from same dog parents you can receive different puppies if thei are descendants of free crossing (street dogs), so this is what the breeds use to clear some types. It's the same for the humans too, so Cait is totally right. But I'm not sure how these DNA kids work and what they show.
This Argue game sounds so fun. I was very good in debate at school, but these distractions sounds difficult, because I'm not artistic, but I guess this is the funniest part.

Nancy, so good that you are have lovely Christmas celebration too! Oh, I'm so curious to see these beautiful birds photos. I'm afraid I'm like your husband, when I make mistakes I feel enough bad, so better other to ignore that or even a well-meaning comment will receive all my anger  . Have a fun on the hockey!

Jean, I'll check your comment tomorrow.

Rae and Trudy :tea:!

Have to be glad I'm not in Erie, PA, with 52 inches of snow. We only have a few but it sure is cold. I've been catching up on all my scrapping and keeping warm indoors.

Chris, about DNA: your children get half of their DNA from each you and Gary. BUT it's not the same 50%. So Scott and Cait will only wind up matching on about 50% of their autosomal DNA (what the kit tests). DH and his brother each tested and that is how they turned out. For a genealogist this is especially interesting as that means they match more distant relatives differently, sometimes even one will match and the other not. Hope this helps some. (Actually this is why DH and I got kits for each of our sisters this year.)

Nancy, Brigantine sounds wonderful. We haven't been there in many years. Glad you got some birding in. Still now it's nice to be inside and warm.

Felis, sorry the book didn't keep up the good story. but sounds like a nice Christmas for you otherwise. Wish you could get some of the snow that fell near here on Christmas - over 4 feet!

Rae, Trudy, Sharon, and all, hope it's a good day.

Hello to all my lovely O family! I'm popping in for two minutes to say hi. We've been out all day visiting family and just got home to have a quick warmup dinner of leftover turkey. It snowed most of the day and I was happy to get a few pics of Ella (our youngest granddaughter) out in the snow. She loved the gifts we got her. Then we were off to visit my oldest daughter's family. Courtney was home from Kelowna for Xmas (she goes to iniversity there). We're tired and am going to watch a few shows before getting to bed a bit early tonight. I have to work tomorrow but probably not a full day. We are expecting a lot of snow tomorrow so will be out with Taz mid day for some snow fun.

Hope you all are relaxing after the holiday. Talk tomorrow. Goodnight, all.
