I am remiss-- I should have wished Happy Hanukkah to all of you who celebrate that. I missed it for Leah and her mom too. I am a BAD Faery!

(small rant, feel free to ignore)
I say Happy Holidays this time of year, even though there is a supposed "War on Christmas." When I was at the dentist the other day. I wished the receptionist Happy Holidays. I don't know what, if anything, that she celebrates. I got a very forceful Merry Christmas back. Part of me was slightly offended. I do celebrate a secular Christmas but I also connect to the Winter Solstice. I have friends and family that celebrate Hanukkah and several neighbors are Wiccan. I don't understand why people have to get so up in arms over the wording of a well-intentioned greeting. :noidea:
Anyway. /endrant

So on to happier things!

Gary wasn't up to go shopping and neither was I. So II worked on baskets instead. I have one of 6 completely done. The others pretty much need a few more additions, some fillers to make it look pretty, like small ornaments and greenery. They should be able to get wrapped and packed up soon.

I never got to make any cookies. Maybe this afternoon.

But I did scrap a Christmas memory for the Advent Party. And a member messaged me that she had lived in a town near where I grew up. The photo I used was a foie truck from my dad's fire company the town name is visible. How awesome! Small world meets on the internet. :)

Today, I am off to clean for my friend and I hope to get out of there quickly so I can get my butt going. I still have nothing except one small thing for each kid purchased. I am running out of time.

I should go ahead and post this so I can do all of the s*** I gotta do before I leave.

Have a fantastic day!!!!

Nancy- I was very happy that we didn't get the snow that had been predicted but whoa is if cold and windy today. Make sure you bundle up when you are out with Luther.
That is too funny about you and your son texting!
I have night blindness so I have a really hard time driving at night so I understand why you didn't go to the Fan Club. Nicer to watch the game at home.
That is very sad about your sister's cat. It is always so hard.
No news about the Sanctuary taking the ducks but at least I put it out there.:)

Trudy- I would bail on Costco too haha!!! That was my day too! I ran and ran and never got anywhere. I told Gary that i was not even running in circles but in "tangles." Can you relate???

Felis- My cats never noticed when one the others passed, but Ray was very depressed after Harley died. For years. She finally perked up after we got J.
It is hard to have such a soft heart but it is what makes you "you."
One of the vet techs rescues cats that have Feline leukemia and has a hospice for them. I don't know how she does it. :(

Jean- yes, the O is very busy between the 12 days and all of the wonderful new designers and new members too. I wish I had more time to immerse myself in it all. Soon, (I hope!) But the site looks so pretty and festive and that makes me happy.

Rae- you had another busy day and got so much done. You have such great clothing karma.
Scott and I were talking a little bit about Cait's rats. The huge downside to owning rats is their very short life spans. 2-3 years is it. Her girls are already 1.5. It is going to be devastating for all of us. I still have PTSD a bit when I think of the day that both Bunny and Merlin died. Merlin had a tumor and we were on "death watch" with him. I was sleeping in Cait's room with her when Bunny screamed, had a seizure and died. Just like that. Absolutely brutal. Merlin was put down that morning and we had them cremated together.

welp. On that happy note.... happy holidays!

good morning - whew it is cold and windy which makes it feel even colder. Not looking forward to going out in this with Luther but I have to take him. Well today will be an indoor day after that. I am going to Panera's for dinner. Well I am back from taking Luther on a walk and it was not as bad as I thought. My son gave me a heated hoodie and I put that on under my down parka and I was great. No one else was out so poor Luther was not happy. My son is still home waiting for the eye doctor's to open so he can get his glasses fixed. But boy is he dragging it out! Dinner last night was so good. It was a baked chicken dish with the best coating and all the veggies were baked too, sweet potatoes and collared greens. So fun! It makes me want to cook more than if the dishes were not good LOL. But the best part of the night was going to my Devils game. They were playing the LA Kings who had won 8 straight games. My team had lost two games. Well my team played so well and won the game 5-1. But the bad is that my best player Taylor Hall was hit knee on knee and had to leave the game. We can only hope it is not serious. My oldest son got stuck at work so it was my youngest son and my DIL but we were all happy at the end of the night. But wow we went into the game and it was in the 40 came out and it was windy and 30s. My team won Yea!

Chris congrats on baskets and hope you get baking done and scrapping. It is so hard to think of gifts that are reasonablly priced. I agree just give them what they want. Tell your mom to put them in big boxes so they have something to unwrap.

Sorry I am off

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... quick post for me too, I am hiking today come hell or high water! I need to get out and clear my head and enjoy the last of the beautiful sunny weather! I think that the day the kids land it will be :rain: again. I got a lot accomplished yesterday, but sadly did not get to spend as much time here and having fun with the 12 days celebration. I miss being able to be a bigger part of all the fun! I remember it consuming most of my days a few years back, how did my life change so much? :becky:

Chris - That is too bad that some people are rude about the silly wording of the Holiday Season! It is supposed to be a beautiful time of year when everyone feels joy and what difference does it make what religion you belong to? We should all show goodwill towards our fellow human beings! I sometimes say Merry Christmas, but only because its hard to teach this old dog a new trick LOL. I try to remember to say Happy Holidays instead.
My Gary and I decided that we will wait to go to Costco after the kids are here, they will want some time to do their own shopping and so they can have the CRV and we will take the truck and run quickly to get what we need. So I have another free day to finish off preparing things around here. Still need to make sugar cookies for the kids to decorate and then clean the entire house, but other than that I am pretty much done. Oh except for the gifts that arrived by mail yesterday. :mmph:

Nancy - Brrr it sounds chilly where you are! Hope it warms up for your walks soon! What a great win for your Devils last night! I bet everyone was beaming with smiles when you left the arena! I hope you have another great day today!

Well just finished facetimeing with Heather and Hunter and poor Hunter has a bad cold again! Sure hope everyone is healthy for the flight out! Forgive me for rushing out of here but I have lots to do before my hike. Have an amazing day everyone!

Good morning, ladies. Got Taz off to daycare and will be having coffee with Jen in a bit when she pops in before going to work this morning. I have a hair appt at dinner time tonight. I just got a trim a few wks ago but I am hating my hair right now, it is full of static and driving me nuts. I am going to get another couple of inches taken off. I haven't had it that short in many years but I'm not worried, it grows fast and by summer will be back to my shoulders again.

D is feeling tired and cold. I think he's fighting a bug. Hope he keeps it to himself. I have an EO sanitizer and will be wiping everything down to hopefully keep his germs away. We have a xmas party on Sat night so hopefully he shakes this off quickly. He usually does. I'm the one who seems to get sick for days on end whereas he feels bad for a day or two and then is fine. Must be genetics b/c it sure isn't his healthy (not) lifestyle LOL.

Tonight I'm going to go thru recipes and figure out exactly what Jen and I will make on Sunday (for xmas). I know we'll make rice krispie squares for D as they are his fave. Sometime next wk he will make his own jam-jams (his mom's recipe) as he'll be on holidays for 2 wks and will have lots of free time. So I just need a couple of glutenfree paleo friendly cookie/bar recipes to make. I got some cream cheese substitute and am going to try that out in a cookie or bar recipe.

Chris - such a short time with the cute little rats but I guess you have to focus on how much joy they bring you all and how you enrich their lives by having them in your family. Losing any pet is devastating as we all know but I try to focus on the love rec'd and given, not the pain of the loss. I still miss Sandy but immediately try to think of a fun happy time with her. It's not easy but I wouldn't trade a moment of the pain from the loss b/c I remember the joy and love. Love your photo!!! So cute.

Nancy - sounds like an awesome game to watch but too bad about the player's injury. The Canucks just lost 2 players to injury this wk. Such a hard sport on the body, for sure. Your dinner sounds good. I love sweet potatoes. Never had collared greens before though. Don't think I've ever seen them in our market.

Felis, Trudy, Jean....and everyone else....hope you are all well.

I'm getting to work for a bit before Jen gets here. Have a great day, everyone.

The book is done! At least it is ready for printing and binding, just hope I can get it done in time. This afternoon is senior center genealogy group. Have to deal with the book and start trying to catch up on other Christmas stuff and here at the O too.

Chris, hope you have energy left after cleaning. Thanks for the charming picture - we need smiles like that! The baskets sound so nice and pretty. And bah humbug to people who have to have canned religion and not appreciate the wealth of feeling in others.

Nancy, yay for the Devils. That must have been lots of fun, except for the injury. I haven't been out much, but we have a light coating of snow with cold and windy. Saturday is our Christmas Bird Count and I'm shivering already.

Trudy, hope your hike is wonderful and that it gives you the needed break. How different to not have time to spend here.

Rae, lots to keep you busy! Hope it's a great day.

Felis, hope your day has gone well.

I fell off the Daily O's this summer after my FIL died and then we lost our 16 yo cat. Now I am taking care of my MIL (oh joy!) She broke her hand and can't drive and goes to PT 2x a week.

I am enjoying all the activity here at the O with the 12 days of Christmas. Such fun!

Meanwhile, both DD's and one SIL are back with us while DD and SIL have a house built on the propoperty after we demolished the old house other DD was renting. (long story) but DD agreed, so we thought that was nice. It is crowded and crazy, but lots of fun. They have a golden retriever so 3 dogs over 70 lbs is crazy!

I recently met designer Jill of Created by Jill. (She's at PBP) She lives less than 2 hours away. It was a nice visit. We of couse talked scrapping non stop!

Chris-I just don't understand the big deal over saying either Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Trudy- hope you hike is good

Rae- holiday meal planning sounds fun. I love to do it with DD. Can;t wait to see your hair.

Nancy- the heated hoodie sounds great. We have having unseasonably cold weather in South Louisiana and that would be great if I took my dogs for a walk but this weather gets me down.

Jean- love your avi and so happy your book is done

Nancy- yay for the Devil Rays.

Hope everyone has a great day!
