Whoa, Faery, rein it in!
Breathe-- Innnn--oooooooooooout, innnnnn, oooooout...

Ok. Better. For now. :D

I have never, ever been this far behind in holiday prep before, even when Cait was only a few months old, Scott was 2 and I had postpartum depression (looking back- most likely triggered by my diagnosed Lyme). I do remember that I was making hand print wreaths for the G-parents and was sobbing at the table while cutting out a gazillion little hands from green paper. Good times... good times... ;)

I worked my a** off yesterday and still am totally behind. I have to figure where to cut my losses. And then CUT them. That is the hard part.
I left my house at 8.30am was out food shopping/bank/errands until 11. Wrapped gifts until 1.30, had to pick Cait up from school. wrapped until 4, started cooking broccoli soup for dinner. While that was simmering, I was desperately trying to find where I saved a download link for an album that I got Scott. I knew I "put" it somewhere, I just had no idea where that was. I was so tired and in pain that I was in tears. I had checked all of my bookmarks (hooo boy that need a clean out!), docs etc. But finally I found it and will print that out to wrap today. At least it wasn't as bad as last year when I lost a huge black light poster that he had asked for. I must have thrown it out by mistake cuz it never did show up.

In my fam, Christmas Eve is just as big, if not more, than Christmas Day, and since I was a kid were encouraged to rest (we took "naps" with flashlights and books under the covers LOL) and I know that I am going to need to do that tomorrow. Which means, my list for this morning is gi-normous. I am still waiting for at least three gifts including the one for my BFF that was supposed to be here yesterday

I have to make baskets for my mom and Cait, wrap some more and start getting the cookie trays ready to go. All before 1pm so I can get chained to the Forever IV. I would love to skip it this week, but my BP/tremors/heart palpitations are bad- I think that stress might have *something* to do with it, perhaps?

Today:
Today is Festivus! Take this day and send a free digital card to air your grievances as you see fit!
Festivus is a holiday that was created by writer Dan O’Keefe as a way to celebrate the holiday season without buying into its commercialism. Festivus was immortalized when O’Keefe’s son wrote an episode about it for the popular TV show Seinfeld. The episode (called “The Strike”) aired on December 18, 1997.
A traditional Festivus celebration includes a plain aluminum pole in lieu of a Christmas tree, the annual “Airing of Grievances,” the Festivus dinner, and “Feats of Strength.” The traditional Festivus greeting is “Happy Festivus” and the slogan of the holiday is “A Festivus for the rest of us!”
Watch part of the famous Seinfeld episode to celebrate this quirky occasion!

I am so sorry that I didn't make it back here yesterday. I had left the tabs open all day thinking that I would be able to, but everything took longer than I had planned.

But here are some quickies from yesterday:

Kat- I don't understand why parallel parking has to be such a big part of the test. Some of Cait's friends failed the entire test just for hitting a cone or taking too many times to get in. And in NJ, you almost never have to parallel park if you don't want to. I could not tell you the last time I had to- had to be when i was still living at home in the 90's.
Good luck getting the payroll done until the new person starts.

Trudy- oh no!!! 2.30am???? That was me at 4am today with my head spinning. I hope that you were able to get a good nap in. Hugs!

Claire- your computer crashed? Nooooo! That is horrible :(

nancy- Jaida is a "puller" too and stubborn as a rock. The trainer suggested that I get a Gentle Lead Halter for her. It goes over her muzzle but not tight and it is super easy to just give a quick "snap" of the leash to redirect her if she started to pull or leap.
Even with the martingale collar, if she pulled or leaped, I would be on my butt. Nope, I would be in the air.
:dogwalk: <~ Me-- but not smiling!

Sandra- nauseous? Be care driving with phenegran, doesn't it make you sleepy? Feel better!
I wish I could do this :rollpin: to your ex. It infuriates me what he puts you through.

Rae- I am a direct descendant of avid readers- some of my best memories are of my grandma/mom/dad/me all sitting around reading our own books. I love that Cait is such a big reader too. I bet that your GD will be thrilled with that gift!

Laurie- congrats on the job offer, I hope that the salary comes in way over what you expect- you deserve it!
Enjoy the warm weather at the beach- it is crazy!

KAT!!!!
I can't believe it's almost Christmas!

Kinda scary, actually - blink and it will be here!

I was just getting calm again, and look whatcha did!!??

Morning O fam- I did get an offer that was closer to my old pay than I thought it would be. I also found out I should be getting my vacation payout from my other job in the next two weeks. Great presents. Not as great as getting to see my son and going to the beach though!! Merry Christmas everyone!

good morning - well today my son was up and took Luther on his early morning walk. Who knew my son and DH would be fighting over who would take him for walks. But glad that they are good for everyone. There is a lit dog decoration on a lawn on along the way we take Luther. Well he does not like it and really barks. Well my son found that out today too funny. Luther and I went on two walks. It is great to be out in Dec in this warm weather. The rain stopped long enough for us to be out. This am there is fog but no rain so we should be good. My NJ Devils played the Redwings and won 4-3. Only the 2nd win in 16 tries against the Redwings in Detroit. So it was a great way to end the night.

Chris relax. Your family will totally be glad with all that you have already done. And thanks for the link to the leash. I am going to take him to puppy training classes when I get back from my AZ trip in early Jan.

Laurie good to see you again. Congrats on job over and salary! Have fun with son and at the beach. We are going to be near 70 on Christmas.

Kat I am not stressing but you are right it will be over soon.

Trudy hope you are still sleeping.

Have a great day!

Morning ladies... Oh Blissful sleep for me last night, I ended up going to bed early 9pm and slept right through until 7am!! Ahhhhhh! I feel so much better today! Ready to tackle the day. Yesterday I ran into town to have a quick visit with my Dr. (just needed a prescription refill) She is such a sweetheart and apologized for not renewing this prescription on my last visit. But we usually get talking about a bunch of other stuff and usually something gets missed LOL. My goodness it was just crazy downtown, everyone and their dog was out shopping for groceries. I only needed a couple of things while I waited for my prescription and then I got the heck outta there!! CRAZY!! I am so glad that I am not one of those last minute Christmas Eve shoppers!! It is total mayhem !!

Chris - Sounds like you need to just take a few minutes to meditate and do some deep breathing and then just tackle one thing at a time :becky: You can do it , I know you can!!
Happy Festivus Day!! LOL I loved that episode of Seinfeld!!

Nancy - So nice that everyone wants to walk with Luther!! He is one lucky pup! I will be out walking with my son's dog in late February as they have booked a little holiday for the two of them and I will be watching the kids and their new dog while they are gone. Kids will be in school so I will get to know the puppy better and enjoy some exercise too! :dogwalk: Wow I can't believe how warm you are all going to be for Christmas this year, who would have ever thought that you would be in the 70's???

Laurie - Awesome news about the salary offer on your new job!! What a bonus to get some extra money for Christmas also!! But you are right being with family and going to the beach are so much better!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

Kat - I am not sure WTH I was doing up at 2:30am?? I just woke up, was wide awake and thought well I may as well get up and do something productive, so I got my Christmas letter all written up and sent off. I tried to go back to bed, but ended up getting up again and making breakfast for DH and myself, then back to bed again. I only slept for about an hour and felt like a zombie the whole day! I hope that you are feeling more human now and are over your jet lag!

Rae - I am working on the header for your challenge today I promise!! I keep forgetting about it, but then I have been trying to sleep for the past two days and not concentrating on anything else :becky: Today my mind is a bit clearer and I feel a bit more human again LOL. Hope you got all your errands done yesterday!

Ok I have a few things to do this morning before DD and Mason FaceTime with me so I will go get some more coffee and get to it! Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning, ladies. I finished up my shopping last night. Just need to pop into one store later today for jellybeans (the holiday flavors) and after watching Jaimee Oliver's holiday cooking show at 4:00 am (woke up and couldn't go back to sleep lol) I'm getting some chicken wings to make a create-ahead chicken stock for my turkey gravy. This appeals to me b/c not only will it be great to put into the turkey gravy on Friday, the leftover will be good stock for the soup I'll make with the turkey bones on the weekend. At least I used my time well during my sleeplessness :)

Today I have to work on the planner/album gift, wrap the rest of the gifts, clean the house and do laundry. Busy day but I think I can get it all done.

Chris - just breath...relax...don't worry about what doesn't get done. Just be with your family and enjoy it. They won't care.

Laurie - good news about the job and holiday pay, and spending Xmas with your son at the beach.

Nancy - I had used a halter like that when we were walking/training our retriever years ago and it worked well. I recommend it too.

Trudy - Thx about the header. No rush, as it doesn't go up til Jan. I was thinking about you and your middle of the night awakenings when I woke up at 4:00 last night. If you read my post you'll see it was fruitful....I got a good chicken stock recipe on the cooking show. And...I was on the ball b/c I hit the record button so I can refer back to it later in case I forget something.

I've already started eating the sweets so my diet is out the window and I'll be buckling down in January to get back on track. Today my hubs is going to make jam-jam cookies (his grandma's recipe from years ago) which I can't wait to take pics of b/c in 22 yrs, I've never seen him cook or bake anything LOL. Should be interesting. I have a feeling I'll be helping out :)

quick get Chris more coffee... it's not December 13th!

busy day today... I wrapped the few gifts I had for the kids and am doing laundry...

Hope everyone has a great day!

Chris - I'm careful with the phenegran... the nausea and vomiting is getting old though... don't know what's causing it... and while it does make me feel more tired and I can rest, it doesn't make me so tired that I can't drive..

Yes, I know what you mean about my ex... things got worse when he found his current wife... unfortunately, it's just something I have to deal with..
