Happy hump day! Isn't it a great day to be alive?
I am only being semi-sarcastic with that. After our mild-tempered (that was VERY sarcastic) president discussed North Korea yesterday, being alive takes on some new meaning. *winks*

So today is the day. My kids are almost done packing and will be leaving for their camping trip in a few hours. Is it normal to be so nervous? I mean, at their ages I was driving back and forth to college 3 hours away by myself. Maybe my parents were just as worried and didn't show it? Or maybe they just got used to it after a few times?

They are going to a campground that is near an amusement park. We used to go with them when they were little. A bunch of my old friends had kids close in age to mine, we would get a few campsites next to each other and walk to the park during the day, and have a fire and beers at night.
The site that they are staying at isn't in walking distance but it is owned by the park so they have shuttle buses back and forth if they would rather use them. My kids were very stressed and bicker-y yesterday with each other and with Brendan and Leah. I am hoping that this is only the common pre-vaca/packing issues that couples tend to have.

Gary was feeling slightly better yesterday which is also a relief. We want to have some time together without having kids running in and out. Imagine that?

Anyway, not much else going on here. It is sunny but freezing this morning but if it warms up, I;d like to get out in the yard a bit.

HAGD!!!

Nancy- it is seriously way too cold here. Poor kids are gonna freeze in PA, it will be in the 50's overnight. But I think that they have packed lots of layers.
I have never heard of Freekeh, is it like quinoa?
What a nice trip for your DS, hope that the weather is perfect for them too.

Trudy- has there been any rain at all by you guys? I can't imagine how everything must look and smell with the smoke. Glad that you guys had a nice time together on the river.
I looked at Netflix and only the DVD is available for Outlander and we don't have DVD service. Maybe it will stream at some point in the future.

Trudy and Rae- I did both of the Los for this week's MoC Tournament. but I haven't posted them here yet. I have to say that there is NO way I would ever win there. The entries are just phenomenal.

Thanks for understanding my envy and I am sorry that you feel like you will be working forever too. Who knows, maybe things will change for the better for all of us. :)
All of my "tech" is making me bonkers at this point.

jean- that was one of my favorite books when I was in my horse phase too. Hope you have another wonderful day!

Better sign off, I have to go over to my BFFATS house and switch out the lights on her son's gecko. TTYS!

Morning ladies... up very early again this morning 4:30am, wide awake so I decided to get up and start working on my LO for the Scrapaneers MOS I really have trouble with minimal LO's but hey thats why its called a challenge right? My last microblading went very well, it took almost 3hrs. but I love the lady that did it and she can talk like nobody's business, we have lots of laughs! Eyebrows look good, a bit dark for my liking but it will lighten up in a couple of days. Looks so natural too, just like little eyebrow hairs, so now I won't have to have my eyebrows tinted for years!! :bliss:

Chris - It is totally normal to be worried about your kids traveling so far away! I still do it and my son has been married for 11 years now. It is a Mother's nature to worry!! Hope you and your Gary enjoy some time alone together! I also understand the envy you feel, I am like Rae and see our friends who no longer have a mortgage and haven't for many years and they get to travel all the time. We however are not financially able to do that, with moving so many times we are a long way away from paying off our house and other numerous bills. Yes we have gone on vacation, but now that just adds to the bills we have to pay off :becky:
No rain here yet and it doesn't look like we will get any for a few more days and still smokey! I can't believe that your Netflix doesn't yet offer Outlander, hopefully it will stream soon! Why would you think that you could not win the Masters of Scrap challenge?? Your pages are just as amazing as any of the others, don't be so hard on yourself silly lady!!

Well I will try to catch up with all of you a bit later on, lots to do today and I should probably try to catch a bit more sleep at some point this morning. I have already changed all the beds (Jason and family visited while I was away) and have a load of laundry done, started a batch of chicken bone broth and now I should finish off my scrap page. I hope you all have a great morning!!

good morning - well I have been off to have blood drawn before my physical next week and then in about 30 min I am off to the dentist for routine cleaning. I hate going but I love my real teeth so I have to take care of them. I went on then errands yesterday and my leg/knee held out and then cooked another really good dinner. The pain was very manageable so I am so happy that things are getting better. Dinner for a ground beef with squash, red peppers and then to make the sauce you added honey and mountain man sauce and hot peppers. This is put on top of jasmine rice. It is funny but his is like one of those meals from a box but amazing how much better it tastes when all the ingredients are fresh. Then on the top you put fresh mint leaves and cilantro. The mint added this sweetness. It was a fun. And it was easy to keep as it was a late night for my DH who ran with the Bronx running group. The historian pointed out a fountain that was made by a German Jewish sculptor but at the start of Hitler regime so Germany did not want it so it ended up in the Bronx. Amazing. Not cooking tonight going out with my girlfriend.

Chris I am sure it is the stress of vacation- I know I get that way. They are going to have some nice days. And yes it is too cool for me. But the sun is shining and you should be able to get outside. Freekeh is the same as quinoa in that it has high fiber but not related otherwise. But we all like it a lot. Glad Gary is feeling better and you two can enjoy some empty nest time.

Trudy sounds like a lovely time with the Inlaws. Funny how different parents are with each sibling. I was always my mom's favorite until I was the one who put her in an assisted care facility. She needed it and she loved it but was still mad that she now had to see herself as old. Bet Heather can't wait to see the photos.

Rae I bet that Taz was tired. He had a nice long weekend. Makes me happy that you were able to give Beckham such fun outdoor time! I don't watch the GoT but I get updates from my son. I read the books so I don't feel the need to see the gore and death but I like to know how the main characters are doing.

Jean sounds like you are having beautiful weather. It is awesome when that happens. Today is to be one of our top ten days.

Chris, Rae and Trudy I will be looking for your Scrappaneers pages. It looked like fun challenges. Good luck. And don't compare it is just that you make something you love.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. I'm switching up my work schedule again. I notice that my attention wanders and I start feeling fatigued in the late afternoon after all the hours at the computer so yesterday I went online for a few minutes and then got off the computer for most of the morning, until lunch time. I didn't realize how much time I wasted by going back and forth between computers and always checking FB, emails, forums, etc. So now I get my work done, then I can get online and play. By sticking to one task for a longer period in the morning while my brain is more alert, I seem to get everything done faster. Of course, that schedule is flexible b/c sometimes I don't have much work in the early part of the day, but my new rule is to get the work done and only go online for a few minutes here and there until I'm caught up. I was able to finish up work last night at 5 and then enjoyed a visit with Jen for awhile before setting into my chair to watch the Bachelorette finale and after-show. Darrell was working late so I enjoyed my "me time".

Taz is gone to daycare. It really warms my heart to see him fly thru the door, just bouncing with energy and excitement when he gets there. The girls are all enchanted by him and come running to say hi. He flies off (I swear, his feet don't even touch the ground LOL) without a backward glance, thru the 2nd door and into doggie playland LOL.

Dinner today is going to be baked Jamaican chicken with rice for Darrell and cauliflower/cream cheese/garlic mash for me.

Chris - I bet the kids are going to have a blast, it sounds like fun! Hope you and Gary enjoy the quiet time together while they're gone.

Trudy - hope your sleep improves. I was up late b/c there was no sense going to bed until D got home from his late work night (midnight) and then Taz got me up at 2:00 to go out which was my fault b/c I gave him a late dinner and then woke up at 6:20. All I can say is....thank god for coffee!

Nancy - enjoy dinner out with your friend tonight and glad to hear your knee held up ok yesterday for you.

I'm getting out of here, getting to work for a few hours. Have a great day, everyone.
