Good morning! (it is still morning?) yes, it is ;)
I am moving slowly ATM, it's dark and raining and well-- really dark outside. I am thrilled about the steady rain but I feel awful for my friend who is going down the shore for the next 4 days. Rain is in the forecast every single day. I don't think there has been a full day of rain so far this summer. Even in the last week or so, it has rained more often than not, but usually in the late afternoon/evening. At least I didn't have to drive home in the rain yesterday, it started around dinner time.
My dress fitting went well, it's home and I love it! I have to be careful when I try it on Friday for Caitlyn's friends, I am losing sequins. My MIL is coming up on Friday for a visit and I might ask her to bring a needle and thread and take a look, maybe tack some down if there are any loose threads that I can't see.
My mom's dress looks awesome on her too but I am worried about her getting around in high heels. She is getting more off-balance and refuses to wear sturdy shoes. I even suggested a cane (again!) and you'd think I was asking her to donate a kidney. SMH!

Today is grocery pick up and then I am cleaning for my friend this afternoon. The weather is supposed to stay cooler and rainy all day so I am cooking in the oven.
( Not like this:

)
I am cooking *using the oven*
Tofu and broccoli sheet pan bake. I might do one with chicken and the other with tofu. I have a pack of chicken in the freezer- if I remember to defrost it early enough, I think that is what I'll do. Maybe some rice in the Instant Pot.

What fun plans do you have going on?

:hug4:

@vickyday Lorie's kits are always so much fun to use, aren't they?
Love how much you are scrapping, wish I could do the same.
My granddaughter wants to start scrapbooking and I told her I would share my stuff with her so she didn't have to buy some of it. She is talking physical scrapbooking for now. One of these days I will talk her into digital! ;)
I don't know if I could do physical scrapping anymore. The last time I tried it was a bust. Enjoy sharing your stash and skills with your GDD!

Talk about confusing what the date is... yesterday I was making out checks and got them in the mail... all the while I was thinking this month was really flying by.
oops!! I hope that they take long enough to get where they are going and that there isn't any issue with the deposit.
I found 2 carboard cameras w/film in a drawer the other day. They both have been used so need to get the film developed so I can see what photos are on them. I vaguely remember buying them when my old film camera broke while on a trip. Let's just say that was back several years ago before I got my digital camera!!! :wow2:  Who knows what photos are there.... LOL
It's like a treasure hunt! I bet there will be a lot of good memories on that film ♥

@taxed4ever Good healthy vibes to your Gary. I am starting to get nervous about Covid myself with the wedding. Nothing I can do about it at this point but I imagine I'll try to be very careful the week before.
How wonderful that you two had a relaxing time at the winery, looks beautiful and charming!
Good luck and have fun on the hike today. Any idea how many miles that converts to, sounds like a long one!

@JeanneMN
Uh oh-- she's back! :notinfrontofthekids:
Welcome back and I am looking fwd to hearing all about the trip!!

Good Morning Friends!
Its a lovely day to be here! The rain is falling, the temps are cool, 55*, perfect day to sit and scrap. But alas, must go to PT in a couple hours so I will not get to play all day. Plus something about feeding the family dinner again. :giggle4:
Sorry about not having time to scrap. It is so unfair that dinner has to be cooked every darn day.
:rollingpin1:
How was PT? What is a vibration plate? I mean, I guess it is a plate on the floor that vibrates, but how does it help?

Kay-- the film is from 1993!? :wow2: That's when I got married- Ages ago. AGE-ES LOL

My GK'ds just left. They along with Ava's BF all came over this evening to pull weeds and get my bench and totem put together. YAY!!!!! It has to "set" for 72 hours, but it's together. Ava documented the whole thing but a lot of the pics were night shots.
I am sooooo happy!!!! I can't wait to see the pics of it. I love that the kids all came over and worked together, that makes it even more special. What an adorable pic of you and Drake and I am LMBO at the shirt you lent him. Hahah!!
If you can't wear the bifocals comfortably in another day or so I think you should go back to the doctor. IMHO- I think the lines would be distracting and make the vertigo worse but heck, I am not a doctor even if I pretend to know as much as one more often than not :giggle4:

Morning gals. Yesterday was a busy, busy day!!! I tried on a pair of shoes at WM and was using my finger to help slip them on....ended up tearing the right forefinger nail down into the nailbed... OUCH!!! Used super glue to help hold it in place. Need to trim the nail down and apply more super glue. And... the shoes didn't feel comfortable - after getting them on!!

I worked on Mom and Dad's 50th Anniversary album in the afternoon. Spent an hour designing the 1st page... between finding the right colored cardstock (a shimmery old gold metallic with a yellow gold narrow line all around the edges as a border); glued a vertical gold ribbon down the left side and added the newspaper articles/photos about the celebration. Got about a third of of it switched over to the new album. It is PITA pulling the plastic covering off the magnetic page and getting the photos loose without damaging the photos. I need to go back to Hobby Lobby today and see if they have restocked any of the photo sleeves in the size I need. Still have about 40 pages to do on that album. DD#1 wedding album has almost as many pages and really needs to be done next as some photos have come loose and the clear plastic page coverings have yellowed. I will be adding their 25th anniversary and renewal of vows celebration with it. This reminds me of when I was working on hubby's career albums... with lots of photos, papers, and albums scattered all over the kitchen table and Island!!! And what a sense of satisfaction once they were completed. But I have to get everything cleared away by next Monday... the girls will be here on Tuesday for lunch.

Will do a quick run to the store - then will work on scrapping a page or two. HAGD

Morning everyone! I am just popping in to say :wavinghello: as I am off to my hike in Naniamo today. Its a lovely hike around Westwood Lake. I am making a run to Costco afterward as we are running low on a few things. Its a nice sunny morning and the temps won't be too bad thankfully. @faerywings the 8.3K hike converts to almost 5 and 1/2 miles. My good friend is leading the hike so the pace will be fast as she is a former letter carrier for Canada Post :giggle4: . I really like it when she leads, we all get a good work out when she does. SIL Sharon will be arriving later today to spend a few days with MIL and FIL I am sure they will put her to work doing some cleaning. They seem to leave the heavy duty cleaning to her, guess because she is the youngest and its not as hard on her??? Although I have to admit that SIL Linda and I are in better shape than she is, she still smokes like a chimney and doesn't do any kind of exercise. She works from home and sits at her computer all day long then goes out to soak up the sun and work on her tan LOL. Oh well at least I don't have to do the cleaning! :yesss: . Anyway I better get a move on and get my back pack ready with lots of water and a snack or two. Have a great Wednesday everyone!!

I was supposed to have the beginning of some major dental work done this morning, but it was postponed until tomorrow, because the dentist's son had a once in a lifetime opportunity come up today, and they call them once in a lifetime for a reason, so I'm not going to bite her for that. I have been terrified of the dentist since I was a kid, between my mother and the dentist, I was traumatized for life. I'm embarrassed to say how long it's been since I've been in for a checkup. My former dentist retired; I think it was hard for him to understand that it was real for me. The dental group that bought his practice has a dentist who specializes in people like me. The first time I met her we just totally clicked, I mean she's been to Key West, loves color and she's a fan of Harry Potter. After 71 years I look forward to going to the dentist. I've never had great teeth, should have had braces as a kid, finally got them in my 40's. Some of them that aren't already crowned have turned that old person yellow. DGD, when she was about 4, asked, "Nana, why are your teeth yellow and brown?" I got a lot of teasing over my Dracula fangs. It's either fix what I have or could be dentures down the road, I'd like to keep it at only my coffee cup needs denture cleaner. Now, the hard part, how to pay for it. Tomorrow is $,$$$ and the next phase is $$,$$$, first thing out of hub's mouth was, there go our trips. We are going to talk to our financial advisor next week to see what we might be able to shift around to make it work. There would be two more phases after that, but enough will be done after these first two, that I may never do the rest. Needless to say, after vacay, and now license renewal for the 2-year-old car, fixing the boat before vacay, the bank account is hemorrhaging.

Vacation was wonderful, I think weather-wise we had the nicest week of the summer. Temps were in the 80's and the weather guy was talking about how obscenely humid it was and miserable, and every other complaint a Minnesotan has in summer, we'd walk out of the cabin and say, huh, doesn't feel humid here. The only times it felt really hot, was when we were in no wake zone channels going from one lake to the next. We'd toodle around for a couple of hours in the morning, have some lunch (I usually drank mine) and then we'd go ride some more. Then come back, hang out lakeside in the lawn chairs and look at the lake, with a beverage or 2, and then at 4 pm. hubs would light the charcoal; it took 45 minutes for the coals to be ready (yes that is all in the spreadsheet) and we'd have supper and watch the Olympics. It rained most of one day so we never uncovered the boat, just hung out on the chairs until 4 pm :rotfl: The rainy day happened to be gymnastics team final, so it was ok to be inside. We'd gone up on Friday and stayed with my cousin until check-in time on Saturday. I took my Key West album along so they could see what I'd done so far, and they loved it. My cousin got very misty eyed over the page on my cousin. My favorite part was when their 40-year-old daughter who lives with Downs Syndrome sat on the fireplace hearth, folded herself up in what we call her Gumby pose and she was looking through it and so excited when she saw herself.

I tried to get hubs to relax, but I know there were more than a couple of his nasty siblings in the double bed with us. The destruction being wrought in that family is hard to be a part of. It's just sad. Enough babbling, I have to buckle down, accomplished nothing yesterday other than financial stuff caught up, and a load of towels washed. I'm stressing over hosting my first challenge in September and needless to say, I've done no layouts. Hasta la vista lovely ladies, Ahhhhllllllll b back later.

Good Morning!
Its getting dark. I'm not ready for that part yet but we are sleeping so much better. Sun still coming up at 6 a.m. but it sets now so its noticeable.

How was PT? What is a vibration plate? I mean, I guess it is a plate on the floor that vibrates, but how does it help?
The vibration plate is as it sounds and it is suppose to help move the lymph system and work the muscles without having to do much work. It shakes ya and makes all the fat jiggle like jello. :giggle4: PT is so weird. Its the lightest touch imaginable and not at all a massage. But it moves the system and the toxins are released which then makes me hurt in my joints. I didn't have time for epson salt bath but I might try next time.

So glad you had a good time on your vacation. I'm glad to see you found a dentist that hears you and your concerns. I have a friend who hates the dentist and he's had some doozy appointments. Its real trauma and I am glad people are finally understanding not everyone is okay with dental. My poor friend needs meds to go because its been so bad in the past that the anxiety is through the roof.

I am back from the fast trip to HL... got 3 more packs of photo sleeves... all they had in the size I need. Talked to a worker and she said I could special order the new of packages I need - and still get the 40% discount and no shipping at they will come to the store. WOW!!! I ordered 3 more packs on special order and they should be here by Friday. Talk about good service!!!
I have been looking for the box of special gold paper I used for My 50th anniversary album for the past 2 weeks... looked everywhere I could think of but didn't find it. This morning I saw some boxes in the office stacked trays in the garage bookcase and pulled them out...YES!!! I FOUND IT! :banana2:dance4:banana5::upsidedownbanana::banana5: Doing a happy dance as I wanted it to use in all the wedding/anniversary albums. I also found some of the old gold metallic cardstock so I might use it for the other albums, too.

Thought you might like to see the beginning page I made for Mom and Dad's 50th anniversary page using the old gold metallic cardstock. Will need to get another gold metallic marker to use around the edges like this page. Only have a few pages with the edge trim... and I really like the way it looks. Would be neat to do something similar for the other albums.

I really should look at the challenges and maybe get 1 or 2 of them done before I go back to work on the albums. :multitasking:

Good Afternoon!
I have had a busy day!
Got up at 6:30, got dressed and went to the park to get my 2 miles in. The day is extremely overcast and misty rainy. Temp is currently 79 feels like 85 with the humidity! It was nice and breezy while I was walking earlier, however!
After my walk I went to the grocery store for the ingredients for yellow squash casserole and some other things.
On the way home I stopped at the PO and mailed a package of craft items to a girl.
Worked on my check book and laundry until DH wanted to go to lunch.
After lunch I went to Kohl's to pick up an on-line order. Out of the 8 pieces I ordered one of the items just HAD to be picked up instead of mailed! Aggravating and I don't get it! Anywho.......
Got back home and am finishing up the laundry. Working on another craft sale. Haven't started cutting up the squash yet and I think I'm just going to wait until tomorrow now.
Yesterday I mailed a craft package out, too! WOOHOO! Loving FB marketplace! Some of the earlier stuff I have had listed for a couple of months.....I think I'm going to delete and maybe group them differently and repost them. I'm not sure if renewing the post after 7 days brings it back to the top or not. Does anyone know?
Mark and I went to supper at Ruby Tuesday last night to use the BOGO Free coupon. We have church tonight, and after going out to lunch I'm not sure we will be hungry before church. I might just fix a snack to hold us over til we get back.
I couldn't get the mojo to work my ATC from yesterday and I need to get that done (and today's) so I don't end up getting behind again. I did look at week 1 AJ and have an idea of what I want to do.
Waving hi to all of you who have been here today and all who are yet to come. :wavinghello:

Have a great afternoon/evening!

I feel your friend's anxiety, they've had to give me Valium because I max out on novacaine AND gas (not the too many cherries kind). When I had to pick a new dentist & saw she is certified for light sedation AND patients who freak out, it was like my prayers had been answered.

Oh Kay, this is beyond gorgeous! And I'm with my twin, no such thing as too much gold. I don't suppose you found buttons and a piece of purple wool in there? That's the safe place from 15 years ago that I still haven't found.
Ummmmm..... yeah, I've taken a shower and gotten dressed. Feeling like a slacker after reading what you have done. :giggle4:
you've beaten me, no shower here, and my mojo seems to have stayed at the lake.

I didn't read as many books on vacay this year because of the Olympics, I did read
Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed Hardcover – July 2, 2024
by Maureen Callahan (Author)

I had to keep putting it down because it made me so crabby. I grew up in the era where the Kennedy's were right up there with God, I mean, good looking AND Catholic, what other qualifications do you need ? Then I started
The Women: A Novel by Kristin Hannah which I loved, but I finished it this afternoon instead of scrapping. I know my sitting outside time is quickly circling the drain so I'm outside soaking it in.

Procrastination. I think my photo shows up when you look up the word. I need to finish editing some recipes. Making my grocery list for church (starts 9-4) and get all my volunteers lined up. But, I am sorting shuffling and deleting files on my laptop to free some space, sorting EHD and surfing along here so I dont have to do the work I need to do. Yep. I'm becoming a professional procrastinator.

It's SO quiet after they're all gone. My ears are usually ringing from the lack of stimulation. We're a rowdy bunch and all talk at once. Alyssa's new BF seemed to take us in stride. We always laugh that we're a lot to handle. We had the music blaring and we were outside dancing at one point.

Chris @faerywings your mom scares me trying to walk in high heels. Can't you talk her down to some fancy flats? Oh wait, I forgot who we're dealing with here. There's NO way I'd wear high heels (or any kind of heels) to a long event like a wedding. I'm glad her dress looks great on her and I can't wait to see you in yours. Cait will come up with the best hairdo too. I had to laugh about the hair oil - yeah/no/ mine wouldn't do anything either. Back to the flats - I love them and even wear them with jeans. I have several pairs of super comfy ones, one pair is leopard skin. The brand is Jellypop and they have them on Amazon. I have one pair that have little gold tassels on them, a navy pair and a plain black pair. They're like walking on a cloud.

Well, so far, the bifocals are a no go for working at my computer. I'm SO bummed that I have to put my old closeup glasses on when I sit here and try to scrap. I am definitely going back in there and complain. I'm not sure if that will get me anywhere, but I paid a bundle for these. I told the tech that I was afraid of this happening and it is. Sweet Ava said that at least I have glasses that I wan wear all the time, plus they turn into sunglasses, so I can eliminate carrying an extra pair. She said that if all I had to change were my closeups to work on the computer, I was ahead already. She's so positive and supportive, They were great in the kitchen last night - when I needed to see the buttons on the microwave, all I had to do was tilt my head up. That was nice. I used to have to take my closeups on and off.

She's right! If they work for the rest of your life the its a plus. But I would go talk to them and see if they have ideas on why its not all that and a bag of beans. I totally get the annoyance at putting them on off for the computer. But I take mine off all the time as I can walk in them well. I try but I glance as the floor, okay I usually watch the floor, and that means looking at reading part and blurry doesn't help balance at all. So I take mine off when walking. I'm about to order a "granny chain" so I can still use them in Costco but not while walking. LOL

I'm definitely going to go back in and tell them that they just don't work for my computer and that's a HUGE part of my life. The doctor deliberately told me NOT to take the bifocals off and right now, I have no choice. I can't possibly work on PSE in these glasses.

Ava always tries to look on the bright side - that was so sweet when she said that last night. I was sitting at my computer about to lose it when she walked in. She's the sweetest thing - she said "we'll figure it out, Cici". And we will. I'm so happy that you're sharing your problems with them, Tracy. I know there's a real learning curve, but c'mon.
