Whew!!! It looks like my area is one of the lucky ones that didn't lose power yesterday. It flickered on and off for a few hours but never went out for more than a few seconds. My parents, ILs, and brother are all without power ATM. I hope that they get it back soon.
What a crazy day in the news, the poor people in Beirut. The photos of the city are unbelievable. I didn't do much of anything yesterday since I was concerned about the power and didn't want to get started on a LO and then lose it every time it went out. That meant I spent way too much time looking at the videos coming out of there.
I can't imagine how difficult it would be to deal with that, while trying to stay safe from COVID, especially in a financially wrecked country like Lebanon. Makes my heart and brain hurt.
Caitlyn got the news that her Fall Semester courses will be entirely remote. She isn't sure if the internship portion will be on campus or also remote. She is relieved to have an answer and seems fine with it. NJs transmission rate has increased a lot in the last couple of weeks and our Governor is scaling back indoor restrictions. It is better to have that settled now, rather than start in person and then have to shift to remote suddenly.
Today looks gorgeous! I have to pick up my groceries this morning and if the lawn dries out a bit, I have some branches to pick up. My neighbors had a large tree come down in the woods, we could hear it cracking and crashing. They have a small boardwalk and a path/trail and the tree took out a portion of that. She said it was an 80' oak so I will guess that the chainsaws will be going non-stop.
Gratitudes:
-that we didn't lose power
-the sun is out
