I almost typed in June up there^^ That would be nice, to have the entire summer spread out before me :D

The kids made it back home around dinner time, tired and sweaty but seemed happy. I got a big hug from Caitlyn right before she ran up to see the babies. She got a kick out of the LO that I made for Cheryl's challenge of the Rat Care for Dummies. Thank you, @Cherylndesigns for your advice on that-- it really came out cute and the kit was perfect!

It was pretty quiet yesterday, Gary has been busy working on a computer project and I spent an hour or so deadheading my flowers. I hope that the balloon flowers put out new blooms. And I wish I knew my bee balm isn't blooming this year. I had one section bloom a few weeks ago, yet the rest of them are just leaves. The plants look healthy and very green, lots of new leaf pairs... but no flowers. Neither hydrangea flowered this year either.
Any master gardeners have advice?

I am picking up my groceries this morning and then will catch up with Caitlyn once she is awake. I want to keep scrapping while I seem to have some mojo hangin' around.

Hope you all have fantastic days!

Good morning ladies. I've been spending all of my extra waking moments with Sydney. We snuggle on the sofa at night. Monday night we watched Purple Heart on Netflix. If you have Netflix, I highly recommend that one. Last night we worked through details of paying some fees she has for the fall, mapping out her paths to classes, both kids signing up for a credit card to build credit scores and played some cribbage.

I'm not sure what we will do tonight. But I'm pretty sure that we will do something. I've been sleeping late in the morning so I haven't had much time before work. But I'll be sure to get in here for awhile.

@Betty Jo The rats love the pancakes just plain. I think I have a photo of them somewhere...
Here are Tat and Olivia (RIP <3) having pancakes :)

I can't get the heart tip to work, I wonder if it's because I use Firefox. But thank you for telling me how to do it anyway! Happy b-day to your baby!!! I just turned 54 and my mom says I'm always her baby-- and I say the same about my kids (23--almost 24 and 26). I would say that you are only as old as you feel but that would make me 214 most days.haha!!

@Cherylndesigns Gary has a chipped tooth from his dog when he was a kid, I hear ya on being happy Ava's girls didn't do any worse damage. Did they behave when they came to visit? How about you and Ava? (<~ probably not #devil )
Sorry for blowing your non-chatty cover!! It wasn't too hard to do, ya know. heh
Gary got a dehydrator a few years ago and I have tried it with my herbs but not recently. It is buried in a cabinet and too much trouble to take it out. LMK if you have better luck with the sage in it, it seems to take forever to dry and never gets the fine power that commercial dried sage has.
This is my monster sage plant-- it is only 2 years old. Plot is 3x3

@BrightEyes That sounds like a great night's sleep -- keep it up! Bet Grandson was happy to get the rice and plums, but DD was happier :D I never thought to freeze rice, it doesn't get mushy?
I am going to try your number-tip. ♥
It worked! ♥♥♣M5♣§ (maybe it worked???? hahah!!)

@bcgal00 Kamloops was trending on Twitter the other night and I saw some of the photos of the fires. I didn't realize that you were that close, be safe. You know how I feel about b-fast for dinner-- always a good choice, your omelets sound yummy!

@Lynn Grieveson You are a designing machine, I love seeing your stuff in the newsletters you send out. How often does DH have to travel for work? It will be nice to get out and about and to see your parents. Good luck to DD getting the housing

@tanteva we were watching Better Call Saul last night and there is a scene of him using a pay phone-- how strange that was! I remember when ATMs first come up too, and now you can do all of your banking on your cellphone.

How many more days until she leaves? It is driveable so you can go and visit, IIRC?

Oh my gosh, Chris, I love those photos of the little rats eating the tiny pancakes and can't stop chuckling over them. I need to eat pancakes that size, it might take my weight down a bit!

So sorry I forgot to say you have to use the Number Keyboard when making the hearts. I've done it for so long that I totally forgot the details of how to do it.

@BrightEyes Kay, thanks so much for sharing the tip about using only the Number Keyboard when making the hearts and other designs.

I see you have problems with sleeping like I do. I also recently had mobility problems. I got up one morning and couldn't put any weight on my right leg, so hobbled around the house holding onto things. I found out I lacked Magnesum. Started taking magnesum tablets and in three days I could walk well again and now I'm also sleeping better. I'm still an early riser, always have been, but I sleep more soundly now and that has helped a lot.

Oh yes, the Golden Years! Yippee!! :) My oldest son is 56, so we're pretty close. Seems like just yesterday they were little tykes!

@Cherylndesigns Your dehydrator looks awesome! I used to have a dehydrator, not real sure what happened to it. Must have given it away when I moved back here to NC. I never used it for herbs but dried a lot of fruit in it, and veggie chips.

@bcgal00 Wow, Rae, you've had a lot going on in your neck of the woods. Not too long ago we had floods here where I've never heard of floods in all my years living in this area, and lives were lost. So very sad. Looks like a great place you have there to walk your precious pups.

Glad you like the little hearts!

It will be great to see your cruise photos.

@Lynn Grieveson Hi Lynn! So glad you will be able to visit your parents. I live in the same town as my youngest son and family and rarely see them they are sooooo busy, both working full time and running a video business on the side. I laughed out loud at the "half century baby." And, I was one of those old-fashioned girls from the 60s. I graduated high school in the sixties!! Huge fan of both Elvis and The Beatles! You're still just a youngster!! Enjoy it!! :)

Well, I'm going to have a second cup of coffee and probably work on the siggie challenge. I'm loving all the new siggies I've been seeing and have to get one made for fall. Have a super day Everyone!

Hello, my lovelies. Beautiful day right now but going to be another hot one. I managed to get my errands ran yesterday... dropped off library books, stopped at the bank, over to Senior Citizens' Center to pick up a few books and then to the Book store where I found 5 DVDs. Ran out of steam and headed home. Still have a few more errands to run and things to pick up for the PotLuck lunch early next week. I really should take a look at this month's challenges and work on some of them soon.

@faerywings Love the pics of the rats eating those dime-sized pancakes. Yes, I froze the Spanish Rice and it was just as tasty when I heated it up. I use long grain brown rice which isn't 'sticky' so it doesn't turn 'mushy' when defrosted. I have also frozen a porkchop with mushroom gravy and rice dish with success. So far the only 'not so successful' frozen thing is the turkey and dumplings... the dumplings tended to fall apart when defrosted and heated up. But they still tasted delicious so am okay with them. Happy as I have 6 more servings of them in the freezer. But the freezer is beginning to look a bit empty as those frozen meals I put in there are almost all gone over the past couple of months since it has been too hot to cook big meals. I have a craving for enchiladas so may break down and make a big pot of sauce if the weather ever cools off. The sauce needs to cook several hours and that heats up the kitchen.

DD is calling... gotta run.

In a weird mood today. It's like I'm happy and sad at the same time ... as I said, weird. Work situation is a bit wonky. It's not 100% sure how much I will be able to work in the future. Might be they will only need me 3 more months, but I'm not sure. There are some new laws it seems, that makes it harder to work paid by the hour. Too complicated to explain, but, though it's great we have strong unions in Sweden, at times it makes employers a bit scared to let temps work too much (there are rules that says if a temp works X amount of days, they have to give them permanent work). And as I understand it, those rules have changed, and I'm on the verge of having worked close to that amount of days. The rules are so weird, I don't get them myself, let alone trying to explain it in English. I don't do adulting. LOL

Having said all this, I just got called in to work tomorrow, even though I wasn't supposed to work for 2 weeks. A coworker got sick, and I need to cover her hours tomorrow. It's weird, just when I've learned I need to work less. LOL

Hence my confused brain.

Or should I say, even more confused than normally?

huh-heh.gif

Anyway, don't tell the girls that are after my presidency, but I've done some house work today. Cleaning & laundry & ironing. I need to rest for the rest of the day now. My body is in shock. LOL

Good morning ladies. I have errands to run and will pop in to a new hairdresser for a trim. I like the area she is located in which is conveniently next to a drugstore, bakery and grocery store. I'm glad the temps have cooled off a bit for a few days and then by the wkend back to the heat again. We have a bit of rain tonight and tomorrow so hopefully that helps with the forest fires. Unfortunately, our rain is really more of a drizzle, not much accumulation but some is better than none for the fires.

We'll go to the dog park later this afternoon for a few minutes. It's going to be around 80 so still too warm to be out too long with the dogs but I know they'll enjoy getting to their fave park for a bit. We haven't been there for the last month or so b/c of the heat.

I'm going to look for some new recipes later on pinterest, I need a change.

@faerywings Glad the kids got home safe and sound. Thinking of the rats eating tiny pancakes makes me smile.
@BrightEyes Me too, I'm thinking of doing a challenge today.

I'm going to get a coffee and get on with my morning. The dogs are looking at me, I'm sure they want to go out.

Good afternoon, Lovelies,

OMGosh it's 12:30 already! Where does the time go? I just finished up a LO and have been otherwise slacking this am. Chris @faerywings I put my sage back in again and I'm going to go shut it off in a minute. It was almost there yesterday, so I'm hoping. I put Rosemary and lemon balm in, too - I'm sure the lemon balm will take more time, too. I can't hang my herbs to dry because of the cat. No matter where I put them, he can get to them. You know how they climb. He's obsessed with my hanging herbs and bats at them until he has them destroyed. That was why Chuck got me the hydrator. I'll let you know how the sage comes out. Your plant looks gorgeous - I have a TON left because my sage plant is huge, too. They're really pretty plants.

Hahaha I know you know that I know - ok - I'm chatty. Hahahaha So, Gary has experienced a got play chipped tooth/teeth too??? Like I said, that was an expensive "play time". Ellie just gets so excited and she headed straight for my face the other day. They're actually pretty well behaved for crazy lab pups, the initial excitement just overtakes them - as soon as they get that out of their systems, they're pretty good. They're just getting so big and they beat you to death with those tails. I'd forgotten those "whip tails". LOL OH NO - Ava and I NEVER behave - are you kidding me????? You'd laugh so hard if you could see 4 dogs (Lila, too) and the cat all in our living room and kitchen. Ava calls it "Cici's Animal House".

Glad the kids got back and had fun I'm sure you're anxious to catch up with Cait. That picture of the rats eating tiny pancakes is too funny! You welcome about the kit suggestion - I could just see the rats talking to you and each other. I'm so glad I thought of that kit and you know I LOVED your layout!!

Linda @LSlycord snuggle those kids just like you're doing - sounds like you're all making the most of your time together and getting everything all planned out. Good idea about the credit cards - it's never too early to start building credit. Sending hugs to you all. That Empty Nester kit by Karen Schulz is a must-have if you don''t have it. I love one of the quotes she uses "Give them love then give them wings". I'm not sure those are the exact words, but that quotes always soothed me.

Betty Jo @Betty Jo thanks for clearing up why the hearts don't work for us. I'll try the numbers. Glad you figured out the Magnesium thing - that's a great supplement to take.

Hugs to everybody - I'd better go try to get some things done - somebody will surely be stopping by soon.

XOXO

@faerywings I needed pics of rats eating mini pancakes - thank you! :) (They are adorable). DH travels a LOT giving presentations and MCing conferences. It stopped thanks to Covid so that was a different life for a while! Now it's gearing up again and he is away every week, sometimes twice a week. But when we move closer to my parents, we will also be closer to where a lot of the events are so that will reduce it a bit. And when he has to come back to our current city for events, I'll come too so I can catch up with the girls and with friends :)
