CHEERY O
Good morning!
I felt like I had such a productive day yesterday and I am ready to do it all over again. The downstairs of my friend's house looks and smells good. I was able to do two loads of my laundry there. And-- I brought home one of her fabric mop cleaning pads so I could mop my own floor. Mine has been sitting in the cleaning rag hamper since before my washing machine died. Spot cleaning with 4 adults (2 messy men) and 3 dogs is not very effective. ha!!!

Caitlyn had her first day of internship training yesterday and has another session today. The internship is going be 99% remote, thank goodness, and all four of her classes are as well. I saw on FB this morning that my town's Bd of Ed has made all school remote until Oct 1. Nothing like waiting until the end of summer. Yikes. It was supposed to be 2 half-days a week in person, then they switched it to 3 half-days in person because of uproar by parents. I bet there are lots of people unhappy that it is all remote. But it is smart. I do feel bad for the parents who are trying to navigate all of this. As I said to my BFF the other day, all I do is say "I am sorry" - to everyone about everything to do with the pandemic.

It is freezing here today, we had some crazy storms yesterday afternoon that brought in a cold front. We were watching the hail bouncing off of the cars at dinner time. Tomorrow will be over 90*
Mother Nature is in a *mood* and I don't blame her a bit.

I am off to clean in a bit and am bringing more laundry with me. The repair tech is going to be here this morning and I hope that he will be able to fix it but I will bring home my clean laundry just in case.

Love and hugs!!!

More quick personals- I am not used to having to be out of the house at a particular time anymore!

Trudy- it feels like Autumn here too and I sure as heck do not want summer to end either. Sorry that you had a flit around day too. Story of my life. It is so frustrating! Are youhiking today? That will help you reset yourself.
I agree with Heather. I think that as soon as the schools start opening up, there will be a case and they will have to shut back down. At least your country is taking it seriously. It is bonkers to me that there are still people here who think it is a hoax.

Jean- if you went shopping and did genealogy work in one day then you did more than I do on most days combined. LOL Ididn;t ant to share photos since I didn't want to freak anyone out. I will have to take some pics of her and put them in the thread. :spider:
My neighbor is an arachnophobe and I had put up fake webs/spiders by my front door one Halloween and she didn't even like to walk near that.

Nancy- did you get those storms yesterday? They came out from nowhere. Who won the Bruins game?
You are going to have so much fun watching sports this weekend!

Felis- That is what bugs me too, unless you have tons of plants, I never have enough produce to actually cook with.
I am so sorry that your peaches were bad. (Peaches are bad even when they are "good." yuck!). I did see your mom's flowers, they were gorgeous!
That is what Cait was scared of- that Rita would get squished or get stuck and die. Scott was only supposed to be fostering Rita and she came with that name.

Yikes, I am late-- gotta fly! xo

Good Morning everyone! No hike for me today. They changed the hike the other day, it was supposed to be a new one and it sounded very nice although a bit more challenging to one that will be all along old logging roads. Ugh!! I hate those types of hikes, looking at old dead stumps and walking along uneven gravel road no thanks!! It makes me sad to see the bad old logging practices and how they would leave the side of a hill decimated! Thank goodness they don't do that anymore. Anyway I have nothing to do on this Wednesday, so perhaps I will see if I can find some Blackberries to pick or someone who is willing to pick them for me LOL. I need to get some jelly made, the kids are bugging me for some more, they have been without for months! Guess I will then need to get to the store and buy some pectin and new jars and lids, oh and sugar lots of sugar! I usually only use sugar now to feed the hummingbirds. Yesterday my dishwasher was working perfectly, today it won't even turn on :rollpin: Darn machine, this is the second time it has totally died on us and its fairly new!! DH will take it apart when he gets home tonight, he is hopeful that it is just a blown fuse or something. I am thinking we will have to get a repair guy AGAIN!!

Chris - Hooray for the cleaning and the use of the washing machine! Sure hope your repair guy can get your machine running again! It's always something right?? Yes, we are taking this pandemic a bit more serious than others, but there are still some people here who think it is all a hoax too! My Gary was saying that the guy who picks up their documents for shredding was refusing to wear a mask. No one is allowed in the building unless they are wearing a mask, so he was told that they would be phoning the company and reporting him and most likely they will be switching to a different company. He was turned away and told not to come back! Really?? You can't put on a mask for a few minutes?? Hope that the temps warm up a bit for you, those storms sound like they were pretty intense!

Jean - Glad to hear that your shopping was a better experience this time! It is nice that your genealogy is keeping you occupied and passing the time in a good way! I think that the name change to The Spiders is a great idea! Hopefully no one will make a fuss about it!

Nancy - We were cheering loud and proud for the Bruins last night, but disappointed with the outcome! Oh well you can't win them all, can you? I agree Nancy that it is nice that my brother is now cheering for our Bruins, but if his hockey team were the Maple Leafs or the Canadians there is no way I could cheer for them either LOL. NO WAY!! You will be in sports heaven with the Tour de France starting and still hockey to watch too! Enjoy!

Felis - That is a shame that the blackberries are not ripening nicely for you! I keep thinking that I would love to grow my own blackberries and I know that there is a type you can get that have no thorns, so I might have to look at purchasing a few of those. However I would have the dilemma of getting my DH to put up some kind of raised bed with stakes for the vines to climb on. That might be like pulling teeth LOL. Sorry that you did not have luck with the peaches either! I love peaches, but sadly I no longer eat them because of the high sugar content. Sounds like your Mom and Dad are great gardeners, so nice to have the yummy salads and veggies from your Dad's garden! I will have to look at your Mom's flower garden. Hope you get to enjoy some lovely end of summer days!

Ok I need to get a cup of coffee and most likely will be getting a face time call from Heather and the boys soon. Then washing all the dishes that are in my non working dishwasher :mmph: Have a great day everyone!

Morning all... been a busy morning already. Got the bed stripped and the sheets are now in the :washing:. Will get the bed made as soon as I get off the computer. Already made the trip to the library and picked up the 3 Karen Rose books plus one by Dee Henderson I had on reserve. Also scored getting 4 'free' books. That should hold me for a few days.... LOL... Called the pharmacy to check if they have the annual Flu shots (not Covid-19) yet. Yes, but not available until Sept 1 and I had to go on-line to make the appointment. All set up for Sept 2. Want to get it early.

I keep waiting for cooler weather... but it isn't happening in the next week. Have the possibility for a few showers. But the smoke is still bad and a few more fires are burning here in NM adding to the smoke. I plan on staying in as the air quality has been bad most days and won't improve for the foreseeable future.

Chris, I would love to have some of your cool weather. Glad you were able to use your friend's washer while you were cleaning her house. Hope the repairman is able to get yours working soon. Sounds like things are going okay for Cait and her internship. So glad that Scott was able to capture Rita.

Oh, no... Trudy... sorry about the dishwasher quitting on you. Hope it is a quick fix. Don't blame you for not going on that hike...doesn't sound easy or what you want to see. Good luck if you decide to get some blackberry plants. It is always nice to grow your own fruit. I am disappointed as the plum tree in the backyard doesn't have any fruit this year. Last year was the first year it had fruit [and it has been in for about 8 years] but nada for this year. We had great luck with our plum and peach trees in San Diego and gave away bags and bags of fruit when we lived there.

Time to get off the computer and get some more chores done. Have a good day, everyone.

Hello girls!
I had early wake up (all right early for my standards not for you LOL ) and hit this postponed tasks list. It was very productive day, but I'm so darn tired! And also didn't think that have something to share, before to see your comments, but now I have. Chris, I'm not sure how much veggies different families needs, but 3 tomatoes and 2 cucumbers are enough for our traditional salad for 3 of us. I'll see if I can find funny video about english men tries our traditional salad. OK here it is just skip to 3:35 https://youtu.be/9AAYLmoC4C8 .
We don't have cucumbers yet, but lots of tomatoes and I think they takes about 1 square meter 10-12 plants, I'm not sure and can't see clear from here, but not more. Cabbage and zucchini also aren't on big size than 2 square meter, and they are 2 different favorite diners. It couldn't be our only source with sure, but it's very fun and tasty for a while. And Trudy my blackberries are exactly this no thorns type. And you maybe remember when this Spring my rose arch collapse and fell down, so dad transform it into their stakes for the vines. I think Gary actually will be enthusiastic to have new project to build!
OK, now on personals:

Chris, I'm proud with you, bravo for your productive day! Just take it easy and don't overload yourself at once. Is it strange to be back to cleaning for others? Or nice to have alone time?! Hope the washing machine to be fix!

Trudy, oh sad that there is no hike today, but ITA with you it sounds more dangerous for the ankles than fun. Hope the dishwasher is easy for repairing! Making jam is so funny, I'm excited too! I'm one step before you, I have already everything except the fruits.

Kay, not blame you for not want to going anywhere at this smoky air! Hope the fires soon to be stopped! Enjoy your reading!

Edit: That's are the stakes, ignore Biggie who love to nap there!

good late day - again it watching hockey time. Tonight it is the Bruins that are in trouble. I have 3 games today. The Flyers won in OT over the Islanders in an afternoon game. Now the Bruins and Lightning and later the Avalanche vs the Stars. Problem with 3 games the late one does not start until 10:30pm. I finished the Hart of Dixie series so now I can be more productive. My DH and I had a nice walk with Luther in the morning. We went to a local park. It was freezing. It was down in the 60s and a breeze but tomorrow it should be back to the 90s again. And like Chris mentioned we did have a thunder storm roll through out of no where. Luckily it was pretty fast moving but it did bring in cold weather. The NBA and an MLB team have protested by not playing due to the injustice happening by police.

Chris glad you got the house so clean and laundry done. I hope to read tomorrow that the washing machine is fixed! Congrats to Cait on starting her internship. That must be so exciting for her.

Trudy sorry about the hike. Old time logging and mining were not kind to the land. I don't like to see that either. It seems that the Lightning just don't lose in OT. That sucks. But no team goes 16-0. That sounds interesting to start making your own jam.

Kay are you getting any of the rain from the tropical storm? It seems Laura is moving up and will eventually come east but I thought the other might head west and give the desert some rain. Have fun with the new books.

Felis I love seeing Biggy in the bushes. I am sure that keeps him cool! My son and DH love cucumber and tomato salads. They had a lot of them when they visited Greece years ago. I always am so impressed by all of you that grow your own veggies.

Have a great day all!
