The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Whew!!!!
I just breathed the huge-est (Yes, Grammarly it *is* a word! Why? Because I said so. :p ) sigh of relief. When I typed the date, I remembered it is Social Security Deposit Day. Checked my bank account and thank goodness, it was there. whew, whew, whew.

Now that I have that out of the way, I am ready to complain about the weather. :rotfl:
It is colder today than yesterday -- 28* with a real feel of 15*. Yes, that is F. (Fahrenheit or feel free to use an F-word. :censored:)

How was everyone's Tuesday?
Mine flew by even though I didn't do much of anything. Scott came over to do his taxes and we had some time to visit. My hair/bangs cut took all of 15 minutes and would have been less aside from my hairdresser and I comparing notes on our matching boots hehehe. She broke her other foot and now ruptured the tendon in the "good" foot. Similar (though much worse) than when I had ankle surgery and ended up with Achilles tendonitis.
I did a little scrapping in the afternoon and then cooked dinner. It helps that I work in steps over the course of a few hours with breaks in between. OTOH, I hate that it feels like I am cooking for hours on end. Which I am.

Big plans for today: Paying bills. Trying not to hyperventilate while paying bills.
Staying warm while not turning the heat up to prevent further hyperventilation as I cough up an extra $200 this month for heating oil.
Oh yeah, refilling any Rxs that are ready in case the tariffs on pharmaceuticals actually go into place. (FYI: I am not sure if this is an actual tariff or just an idea but better to be prepared)

The one last thing I need to do: Clean the additional papers in my office. I swear they are like dust bunnies, multiplying the second I look away. :floorlaugh:

Did I describe parts of your day too?

Make it a fab one!

I know exactly what you mean about the grocery prices! Unfortunately, I don't think it will get any better! People gotta eat, so people gonna buy, no matter what the cost!
I'm itching to get my hair cut! But I also like being able to pull it all back in a ponytail, too! Decisions.....decisions!
For sure! I'm hoping we don't go back to my college days of living on boxed mac and cheese and ramen :rotfl:
How was the widows' meeting? I hope Ruth is feeling better today.
've been meaning to catch up on all those classics I've never read - but ... I think I'll skip 1984 for a while & re-read Pride & Prejudice instead. LOL
I reread a bunch of the classics over the past 5-6 years. 1984, Lord of the Flies, Fahrenheit 451, A Brave New World, The Handmaid's Tale, and then the sequel (Testament, IIRC).
Maybe I should try P&P again. Or perhaps I should stick with kids' books?? "Is Your Mama a Llama?" is a banger. LOL
I am reading Lightlark right now and it isn't happy-happy chicklit or similar light/humorous, but it is firmly in YA Fantasy genre that it is a good escape.

I think you picked a great alternative. None of the fun things are fun when your heart & soul aren't in it. Books have always been my refuge in times like that.
I'll take any book recs you have too!
How nice to be cycling through Australia and not have to worry about dying b/c you stepped on one of their snakes or spiders LOL
I hope you didn't freeze your butt off too much at the games and meets-- and that your grands teams won.
Did you make a margarita to go with your Jimmy Buffet vibe?
I biked into town for a meeting with a potential donor early this morning, and I have to work on writing up a grant application today. We are trying to get a bridge built on one of the trails and the costs just keeping going up. Like eggs
*fingers crossed for your grant application*
HOA tried to put in a rule that lawns had to be "97% fescue grass"
Some people have waaaay too much time on their hands and not enough concern about wildlife and chemicals.
had a professor in theology school who extolled the beauty of dandelions in a lawn - I'm on his side.
This is me!!!!! I couldn't tell you how many times over my many years that I wondered who in the world decided that dandelions are weeds? What makes them a "weed" but some invasive flower is not? (looking at you, purple loosestrife and butterfly bush)

:soapbox:

Uh oh... *puts soapbox away*

:oops2:
I try to develop tasks that people can do without much commitment, e.g., we need someone to cut back briars on a specific section, or we have a pile of lumber that can be carried down one board at a time this weekend. I've been much less successful in trying to attract people to work together or socialize together at a specific time & place. But we keep trying.
Thanks for the input and good luck to you.
We have volunteer days but are thinking about more "drop-in" times. But that means staff has to be on site or there are liability isses etc. It's really hard to coordinate.

DH and I did not look for his boots yesterday, so we will go do that today. Instead we looked for a shelving unit for my craft room closet. Hooray!!! One item off of the Honey do list for him! I love it, its got nine cubby holes for storing and the bottom three will have drawers as soon as they arrive in the mail.
The shelves sound amazing! I love it!
Hope your Gary got some boots and that you have a wonderful hike together.
We both slept like logs and both got up this morning at 7:15am. What a great sleep, guess my DH is settling into this retirement thing.
Sweeeeet!!!!

Its 30*F and we have THREE INCHES OF SNOW and its still coming down!!
EEEEWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Once the kids turned 7/8 they learned how to do laundry and I didn't do it for them anymore. Once they hit 12 I didn't remind them anymore either. Its great. Less stress on me.
I wanted to do that, but our septic is super finicky. They would end up doing a load that was of like 5 things. It made more sense to one big load instead. But I wished so many times I wasn't the one in charge. :/

alk about not paying attention.... I posted this in YESTERDAY's thread... I love copy and paste!!!
:floorlaugh:
Did you have a fun time at lunch with the ladies? I imagine that it was a wonderful break from all of the family pain going on.

Glad you did some office cleaning you inspired me and I cleaned my desk then I read you only cleared a few papers....hustle it up there Winged Wonder!!!
I swear, the papers are messing themselves up! Winged Wonder!! I love that!
What I think I look like: :dancingbfly:
What I really look like: :flyswatter:

OMG I would faint if I saw an alligator IRL. Done. I'd be on the ground and he'd be chomping on my feet.
How sweet of the club to treat you all to lunch. IMHO, they should throw in a spa day or at least a massage after all of the hard work you did *G*
That is a stunning photo of the monarch. Have you scrapped it yet? If so, please share!
Hi Everyone, quick check in. Work's been good, my body hurts. Mostly my back. I don't think it's pickleball though. Just moving around pretty slow and using my heating pad all day at work.
*gentle hugs* Feel better!
I hope that your weather stays warm for you so you won't have to bring the plants in and out. I also hope that you see the parakeet soon.

HAGD!! xoxoxo

Morning ladies… It is actually sunny this morning, hooray it will make hiking so much more enjoyable! We got my Gary his hiking boots they are perfect for him and glad that I convinced him to get a half size larger, he is very happy with them. Next will be better hiking pants, blue jeans are not comfy to hike in! Had another great sleep last night, both of us slept until 7:15am I actually got a layout done yesterday and will try to upload to the gallery before we head out for our hike. I better get my DH some breakfast, I don’t eat usually until after our hike, but will pack a couple of snacks to have during our break. I hope that everyone has a great day and that the weather warms up for all of you! :waving1
Big plans for today: Paying bills. Trying not to hyperventilate while paying bills.
Staying warm while not turning the heat up to prevent further hyperventilation as I cough up an extra $200 this month for heating oil.
Ughh paying bills  seems the money is in the account for mere seconds before it’s all gone again!! Yikes on the increase in the heating bill!! Heather says that they are having very cold temps too and our son sent a photo of about 6inches of snow that fell the other day with a caption on the photo that says “JUNK” I think they are ready for winter to leave!! I feel bad that our trees are all blossoming and the daffodils are just about done. Sure hope it warms up for you very soon! It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if there was a tariff on meds, seems to be tariffs on everything! You know who needs to go away!

I saw a notice from some weather service that it's colder in the east but warming up in the west. I hope that's true b/c we're headed to Seattle next week. I keep crossing my fingers it will be warm enough to take the grandkids biking in Stanley Park when we go to Vancouver the week after Easter. (I know I keep commenting on this but I'm so excited about the trip!)

I did my weekly scrapbook pages from last week. I David take my picture when we were in D.C. Saturday and when I downloaded it yesterday I saw that I have the Washington Monument growing straight out of the top of my head. I went ahead and used it -- real life, after all.

Tonight is the last night of the parish mission. I like the woman leading it although we've had her before so it feels a little bit repetitive. But it will be nice not to have dinner an hour early so we can get out on time. We have trail work scheduled for Friday but forecast is for an inch of rain so I expect we'll cancel that. That will give me time to do laundry and start packing.

And now I'm off to catch up on dust and cobwebs. Such fun.

Morning, all. Had plans to go to the base today... but... tummy is unsettled - not sure why so decided to wait a day until it is normal. Yes, I had a wonderful time with the gals lunch yesterday. So good to be talking with them about how they are doing and just relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

Slowly getting back into a more normal mode now that the kids have left. DD#2 called yesterday evening and we talked for almost 2 hours. She is going back to work today (she works from home via computer). Her company has been very supportive during the last few months while her hubby was in and out of the hospital, thank goodness.

I got a LO done this morning but it won't be releases for a couple of days yet. Need to look at some of the challenges now that things are settling down.

HAGD

Well, best laid plans just never seem to quite happen. I was within journaling of having that double page finally as done as it was going to be when "the question" that chills me to the bone was asked ..... are you at a good stopping point where you can help me with something on the computer? That was at 1pm . Wendell can build houses, design houses, build just about anything, wire things, spent an hour or more figuring out how the wind chime was strung so he can fix ours and not buy a new one, but SaveAs, put in a file, you don't have to close a window to open a window is just not on his radar ,,... I'm equally bad at all the things he does well. This is the guy who puts my cooking utensil in the dishwasher when I turn away from the stove, wiping the counter before I'm done, rewiping the bathroom sink after I've brushed my while he just watched me do it and he's brushing his teeth next, he'd even refold the towel after I folded it for him to use next, whey wouldn't he close a window before opening another and why wouldn't he expect an 18 page document to magically appear when you push print. I keep telling him the printer sees some of those files as graphics and get the same reply, "but there are no pictures and it's black white ..... yes dear, but there are charts, and graphs & special columns, it takes a bit. It's up and down the 20 or so feet of hallway to the printer & it's back & forth, nothing yet, nothing yet, why isn't the printer printing, maybe if I push print again it will come out.Ink cartridge runs out, the tray he set up under the printer to keep his papers from falling off the bng off the bray Ink cartridge runs out, the tray he set up under the printer to keep his papers from falling off the tray when they come off, is stopping them from moving out is also causing a paper jam.

Just now, do you have time to scan something for me? brb

We left for track meet around 4 I dressed in layers - wore my insulated biking leggings which make me look like I'm walking around with a full diaper I'm sure. Quilt, 2 sweatshirts, it's 49° & sunny. I was too warm at the long jump, when we went over for running events it was in the shade, and considerably cooler continued doing that - When the sun went down it got even cooler, yes, I said sundown, it got colder & when the meet was over shortly before 10, it was 37° and that diaper was the only thing keeping my but from freezing down to the bleachers. I shared my quilt with dgd mom but those of us left were like popsicles. She did really well in her 4 events, of course first one was at beginning of meet and the 4th was second from last - We came home and sat by the fireplace had a glass of wine, I added a 3rd quilt to my side of the bed, these are mostly folded queen size so I have like 6 inches of quilt on me. Took awhile but I eventually thawed & slept till 5:30, which never happens. Tomorrow is baseball. 2 day volleyball tournament this weekend, those are usually 6 hour bleacher butt days so bleacher butt is pretty permanent. I wouldn't trade for anything because I get a chance to see them. Enough babble

Good thing I don't live in the US - I crave egg & mayonnaise sandwiches ALL the time.
That sounds so yummy, I'd add a little mustard and pickle relish or skip mustard & use hot dog relish which has mustard in it. Now I'm hungry

@taxed4ever We have a Nordic Track Studio Cycle. They came out about the same time but Peloton did a lot more market. I went with it because it adjusts for elevation according to the ride and they had all of these outdoor rides, which back then, Peloton was mostly studio cycling classes and that's not my jam. When I'm feeling I might die; I don't need blaring music, flashing lights and someone yelling at me to die faster because it's fun. Got it at Best Buy with free delivery and set-up. This was during Covid I there was like a 3 month wait for a Peloton.

@faerywings I should have had a Margarita, that's for sure. It's 11am and music is back, I need more coffee, but youngest brother started kicking a sleeping dog already this morning, so yes, kind of feels like Margarita time again. I AM going to finish that layout. I'm sure this is full of typos, my tablet doesn't always print what I write so pretend you know what I'm talking about, which you. probably do when you read anything I urite. HAGD everyone!

After all of the laundry talk, I did 3 loads of laundry.

Whew!!!!

I'll bet if you checked on Tuesday, your SS would be there.....however, I don't know what time it posts. When I get my bank email it shows (always) that it was deposited on Tuesday.

Glad things are slowing getting back to normal for you, Kay! Hope the rest of the family is doing the same. Hope you feel better by now!

I had to LOL at this comment, Jeanne! :giggle4::floorlaugh::lol: As a matter of fact, you had me laughing at helping your poor DH! ;)

Good afternoon,
Yesterday was very busy for me. Spent the day with the widows (had a great time!) and then dropped Ilene off so she could spend the rest of the week with her son.
Today has been like Kay's day.....IBS symptoms and dealing with a headache all day. But I have been catching up on my way behind monthly reviews. I've got last year done! Now to start on 2025. The months that we did extra things, like going to my son's in Alabama for 5 days and to my daughter's in Ohio for Thanksgiving, I did extra 2-page spreads. Thanksgiving's has a TON of photos! Practically no room for embellishments!
Also need to catch up April's ATCs. Then get everything posted! Not sure my headache is going to let me work on anything else today, however! Especially since tonight is church night.

Have a good evening!

@faerywings Ruth had a good night but is iffy today. She may or mayn't go to church with us tonight......(I would never say "mayn't" but spellchecker must think I should, LOL)

I reread a bunch of the classics over the past 5-6 years. 1984, Lord of the Flies, Fahrenheit 451, A Brave New World, The Handmaid's Tale, and then the sequel (Testament, IIRC).
You clearly doesn't read to flee reality like I do! :lol23:

If you like YA (I read that a lot!) - have you read the Hunger Games Trilogy? It's easy the best thing I've ever read. Well-written, interesting characters, good story & really intelligent.

Tonight was my night to host the bible study check in table at church. One of my volunteers saw me and said "Go Home! We got this and you've been here all day". At first I insisted on staying, but the volunteer insisted otherwise. So I came home early! It was a beautiful evening, and had dinner with the family. It's nice to have people looking out for you. This morning I got up early and even got a load of laundry on before I went to work!

@JeanneMN it's nice to see you back!
@faerywings somehow you look just like your avatar in my brain and I cant visualize you with bangs!
I have the Washington Monument growing straight out of the top of my head. I went ahead and used it -- real life, after all.
I love your perspective on that! We've all got pictures like that and I love that you used it anyway.

Hope you all had a good day!
