iiiiittttttt's Hump Day!
giraffe-wednesday.gif

it's also raining and cold but *shrugs* What can you do? One of these days it is gonna be nice outside. *taps imaginary watch on wrist* Can we make it sooner rather than later? Please?

My mom's appt went well yesterday. She is very comfortable with her cardiologist and he seems to relate to her well. He is soft-spoken, calm, and reassuring which is exactly what she needed. Nothing has changed drastically with her heart and he has wanted her t to have a pacemaker for almost 3 years now. I think she is as settled on that as much as she can be. Now I have to be a good DD and not bug her about scheduling the surgery. (how long can I and should I hold out? A good question...)
It was a long day by the time I got home and I was thrilled that I didn't have to cook- she made a quiche for us the day before and I had leftover pasta for Caitlyn and Sam who don't like quiche. The kids all went to Trivia last night after dinner but they are still asleep so I have to wait to hear if they won.

I am picking up my groceries in a bit and then cleaning for my neighbor. I hope his kitty lets me pet him today. Easy dinner tonight- sesame noodles. I don't think anyone is going to be here other than the 4 of us. I have to ask Scott if his friend who is helping Cait with taxes on Friday is going to be here. She is vegan/gluten-free and that is going to be tricky.

I hope that everyone has a great day!

@scrap-genie I love the idea of wearing blue and yellow. I saw a few UA flags on my way to my mom's which got me thinking that I would love to do yellow and blue flowers in one of the gardens this year.
Thanks for the cheers!! Whew, what a relief :)

@BrightEyes The house must have felt quieter after DD#1 left. How did the appt go yesterday? I hope that you weren't there too long. I bet Chari was exhausted after putting in a full day o work, hope that she is able to get some breaks in today since I am sure yesterday pooped her out too.

@taxed4ever good for you, getting up and out to the pool early. How is the weather today for the hike, hope the winds aren't bad. Scott was on a hike last Saturday and was 5 minutes from where he wanted to go when the wind kicked up. He had to turn back, said rain is one thing but the strong wind made it unsafe. Please be safe too!

@Cherylndesigns I asked Scott if he knew what flintknapping is and he didn't but said that it sounds fascinating and wishes he could learn.
I think I could use a Casey in my life bwuahahahah!! Especially since she is tall. Gary is 5'11" and doesn't understand what a benefit that is. *eye roll* I need to get some potting solid to see if I can get the basil seeds going inside soon.
send some sunshine here please so I can stay away from the news too. :(
OPS is a fantastic motto.

@tanteva that is one reason I can't quit reading the news. I know better than to watch it, the videos of the devastation are too much (learned that the hard way after 9-11 when the Towers were on loop :( ) but I can't look away from photos and reading firsthand accounts. I love your champagne promise- I think the world will join you in that.

Lots of love and light to you all!!

Long day yesterday. Got to doc's but had a long wait until DD#3 was seen. Discovered she has a pressure sore on her heel that needs to be aired for a few hours during the day. They took the stitches out and put her in a walking boot and added a pad in the heel to cushion the sore area. Doc said she could slowly start weight-bearing while she uses the walker. That was a big surprise as we thought the weight-bearing would not start for a few more weeks. She is happy over that as it means that she might be able to move back home in a couple of weeks instead of a month. I am happy for her - but know I will miss having her here when she does go home. Stopped by to pick up a hamburger meal for dinner as we were both tired by then.
DD#2 called just as we finished dinner and the girls has a nice long phone visit.

We were having high winds yesterday - blowing up to 60mph - with lots of dirt in the air. Played havoc with my allergies. But it did get up to 79* in the afternoon. Today we will be lucky to get to to 65* as a cold front came in with the high winds. I didn't get my laundry done yesterday so that is on my 'to-do list' for today. Need to run a few errands today. Now that DD is off of heavy-duty meds and more mobile I can leave her here alone while I am gone.

Happy Wacky Wednesday to you all!! I am off on my hike this morning, but oh my gosh its kind of chilly out there! All that wind blew in some cooler temps and there is fresh snow on the mountain tops. I will have to dress in layers as it looks like it should warm up a bit and thank goodness the wind has finally stopped blowing! I spent some time out in the back yard and picked up most of the debris from the past few days, not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Seems the neighbours backyard got most of the big branches. So I will get my lunch ready and get my backpack loaded. It should be another lovely hike! I actually got a layout done for Kay's template challenge, but man it took me ages! I usually don't work with templates, so it was out of my comfort zone, but I think it turned out pretty good.

@faerywings - I hope that the kitty lets you pet him too! Happy to hear that your Mother's doctor appointment went well! It really does make all the difference in the world when your Dr. is a kind, soft spoken and has a great bedside manner! Now to set up that surgery!! I wonder how long it will take?? Sorry to hear that it is rainy for you today and yes a blue and yellow flower bed would be so pretty! My tulips are all blooming, but sadly nothing blue to go with them. Glad Scott did not go on his hike with the winds blowing like that. It is very dangerous and we cancel hikes if we are going to be in heavily wooded areas when the wind is strong! Your boy is one smart cookie!!

@BrightEyes - Sorry you had such a long wait at the Drs. but glad to hear that your DD got her stitches out and is now in a boot! How great that she will be able to start weight bearing so much sooner than you thought! Hope the pressure sore clears up quickly, that's gotta hurt!! BTW I can't imagine how long it must have taken you to do that template!! There were a lot of layers there LOL. Thanks for the challenge!!

@tanteva - I raise a glass of champagne with you on that day!!! I think the rest of the world will too! I can't wait to hear what you come up with for a name for your new machine!! Enjoy your baking today! Hope you dreamt of love during the night!

Ok I better get going, have a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies. I'm staying home today, no shopping, just unpacking and a few walks with the dogs. I want to scrap a bit later, it's been forever it seems since I made a LO. I haven't got my PC and monitors set up yet but can scrap on my little laptop (just slower and it's a PITA to work on a small screen). Kitchen appliances come tomorrow so one more day of no stove or microwave. We found the air fryer so can warm up pizza later for dinner in it. The dogs love it here. They race up and down the stairs between the 3 floors. Remi and Bella are together all the time. Taz sneaks off for naps here and there.

@faerywings Glad you got the cheque finally. If Scott's friend is vegan/gluten free, you could make potatoes with veggies. I often have a baked potato with beans and veggies overtop.

@taxed4ever Hope the hike is nice today. I sure hope your kitchen furniture comes soon. That is a long time to wait. D cancelled his Wayfair order b/c they adjusted the shipping time for another month or longer. Luckily we found what we wanted locally.

Going to shower and get on with my day now. Time to do more unpacking. Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon. I'm slow starting today - woke up fairly early, but just slow. We've had Lila here for 2 days - Adrienne and her hubby are out of town. It's just double the fun. They sit and stare at me most of the day. LOL Daisy doesn't normally do that, but Lila sits and stares at Adrienne all day, so she's taken on the task with me. Hahaha

Chris @faerywings glad the appt with your mom/dr went so well. I guess no need to bug her about getting the pacemaker - she'll do it when and if she's ready. I know it's hard, but, that's what I'd do. I forgot to thank you for giving me the name of the new Etsy Shop. I'll be anxious to see what they have in there.

Trudy @taxed4ever hope your windy hike goes well, Kay @BrightEyes glad you got the long appt over with. Rae @bcgal00 take it easy on getting the computer set up - it all takes time.

I'm going to get off of here now. Happy Wacky Wednesday.

Today the machine has made a chocolate/orange cake + a sauce for Indian food (made almost a Gobi Manchurian, but cheated a bit since I didn't have any bell pepper at home).

Today it is 32 years since I followed Urban home from the pub. It's also 28 years since we got married. Happy Anniversary to us!

It's also 48 years ago today since ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest.

Tomorrow I'm working all day. Then I won't work until the 27th. I will die of boredom. LOL

LOL at that Abba fact. Yikes!

We love a bit of Abba here, DH and I dance to it with our dance fit friends in the weekend. Who cares what anyone thinks ;-)

@faerywings good news about your mum :)
@bcgal00 hope you get your scrapping set up ... set up. Scrapping on a tiny screen is no fun. I just ordered some reading glasses specifically for use on my laptop for that reason :)

I've still stuck in this annoying limbo time in which I MAY have to move back into my old house in three weeks ... or I may not (if it sells). I'd be more relaxed about it all if it were not for DD#2, who still lives with us and is turning 20 this month (how did THAT happen?). I can just imagine that we will all move then have to move AGAIN 8 weeks later and try and find a rental that works for her and us. Tired at the thought ;) :p ... but it will all work out in the end.

It's turned very grey and wet and miserable here, and DH and I would just rather be fancy free empty nesters following the sun. Serves me right for having her so late LOL.

She's an absolute blessing though
