Good morning m'dear Ooos! I am doing the happy dance-- taxes are all submitted and mailed. So glad that is done! I still have to file some paperwork for the state property tax freeze for seniors/disabled people but I had to wait until the taxes were done before I could start that. I will get to it- eventually. Man, I *hate* adulting. hahaha
My big project yesterday was trying to research "new" cell phones. I posted this: Cell Phone recommendations? if you have any info/advice to share. That just about broke my brain which was already under duress from making sure all of the tax papers were signed and in the correct envelopes. Prior to that, I was struggling with my online food order so you can imagine how frazzled it was. LOL

I am picking up my groceries this morning and then if it doesn't rain, I am working outside. It was supposed to be sunny and near 70, but it looks like it is going to rain any minute. I guess I have to pay bills today too- it is Social Security Deposit Day.

Wishing all of you the best day!!

@taxed4ever Good for you, so organized with your stamps! That is really impressive and sounds like it will make everything easier to find and put away. What a bummer about your ears getting plugged up still. Why do you think all of a sudden you are getting water in your nose? I remember using nose plugs when I was a kid, I didn't like that feeling either. I hope that you try again in the pool, maybe you just need to get some practice breathing smoothly again... Have a great time on the hike today!! I am sending positive weather vibes your way.
PS: I baked yesterday too. After hours of looking at cell phones, I made brownies to cheer myself up. Not the healthiest thing to do but it helped *wink*
I looked at the Susies yesterday and the ones that made it the best were the ones underneath the hedges. I might see how they come in and then move a few forward. Hardiness Zones don't; seem to mean anything anymore the way weird weather is happening. Congrats on the refunds!

@Cherylndesigns I left the house to run errands, was gone for a half-hour, came back and the NYC headlines were all over my home page. :(
I wouldn't be able to bond with the kitties either. Nope, not at all. Hope that they all do really well. Yipppppeeee for being out in the sun! Are you sore from weeding? Yesterday I was stiffer than normal from the yard work the day before but that is the pain I do not mind a bit.

@Lynn Grieveson I would be a basket case with not knowing where I would be living in a few weeks. So sorry that you have to deal with being in limbo :(
When I am stressed I clean too. Last year, my mom was having surgery and the kids laughed at me when they saw I was scrubbing the screen of the floor fan with a toothbrush and q-tip. I hear you about the state of the world not helping. I am watching covid cases rising again in NY/NJ area and I cannot deal with another wave on top of everything else.

Cheryl- it feels like forever ago that you were living in that tiny place, at least to me

@BrightEyes Congrats on cutting the cord! ughhhhhhhh, hope the cold front moves out quickly.

@tanteva I am happy for you, it made sense for you to step down as a Cheery O if scrapping wasn't making you happy anymore. We don't do anything for Easter. My mom and dad are coming for b-fast, we have to have Italian Easter Pie so she brings that up for us. Other than that, it is just another day.

@bcgal00 Oh no, I hope that you found your heating pad, can you call the hotel to see if someone found it? You are getting so much done with the house. I can't wait to see some photos!

@LSlycord Good luck to Shaun, I hope that they find something that is easily treatable.
I do cook with sage a lot. One thing we like with chicken cutlets is to fry up a few full sage leaves with them.

Uh wow, I am really running late. How did that happen???
Gotta FLY!!! xoxo

Morning, gals. Woke up to freezing temp... 32*!!! Ugh! Then fixed the coffee maker - turned it on only to discover that the heating element on it quit!!! Thank goodness I have a 4 cup coffee maker in the pantry. Looked on-line to see if I can find the replacement I want locally.... Nope.... will have to order it. Takes about a week to get it. I do have another 10 cup coffee maker that takes cone-shaped filter so will have to pull it out until I get the one I want. Hope I still have a few cone-shaped filters. If not it means a trip to the store. Both Chari and I need our coffee in the morning and the tiny 4 cup maker only really makes 2 mugs of coffee. It is another bad wind day. We had gusts up to 60mph yesterday and are suppose to have the same or stronger for the next 4-5 days. It was so bad that we couldn't see the mountain due to the blowing dirt! And there is 5 wild fires burning in the state ... one really bad one in Belen (southern suburb of the city). The whole state is under a high fire danger for at least the next week. We are adjusting to use the old remote control for the TV as I had to turn in the control for the cable box. And learning which/where the channels are that we will want to watch. I am thinking that I may go ahead and buy another indoor antenna for my bedroom TV. Will do a quick trial run with DD's antenna to make sure I can get good reception in there.

Chari is going to do a trail run at being home on Friday evening - Sat morning. She needs to make sure she can manage getting into the shower there and moving around her house okay. If that works, then the guys will come down on Saturday and pack her computers and other things. She ordered a shower chair with a back and some suction type safety bars that will be there by Friday. That should help with the showering issue. I will miss having her here but understand that she really is missing her family and being home. She has made great strides this passed week using the walker and putting some weight on her foot. We see improvement every day so know that has triggered her desire to be back home.

@faerywings so glad you finally got the taxes done and in the mail. Know how much you enjoyed being outside - even if it was a bit chilly. Nice that some of the Susan's survived the winter.

@Lynn Grieveson How stressful not knowing if you need to move back into the house for awhile.. then waiting for it to sell!

@Cherylndesigns I can understand why you don't want to be around the tiny kittens knowing that they might not make it. Better to not get attached then lose them. Hope you don't blow away in the horrible winds - they are just as bad here at there.

@taxed4ever How terrible that the swimming caused water in the ears and is giving you problems. Hope you can come up with some other exercise to replace it.

@tanteva Glad to hear you are getting your mojo back and enjoying scrapping again. Sometimes we need to step away from CT work for awhile. Happy that you are still popping in here to visit with us.

@LSlycord So sorry to hear about your son's problems and hope this procedure will tell the doctor what is going on. And your chain is getting so short before your European trip. I can hear the excitement in your posts about all you have planned.

Well, need to go make another pot of coffee and get dressed. Hope you all have a good day.

@faerywings Is it this kind of pie your talking about?
What does Cait get?

I think I'm going to make "planks" for me and Urban. Here's an image of how "the original" looks:
kycklingplanka-D14I5150-300x369.jpg

Basically it's a piece of meat, asparagus wrapped in bacon (though on this images they've wrapped the meat instead), tomatoes and a Bearnaise sauce on a plank. And around it Pommes Duchesse. Of course, I switch the meat for some soy steak or something. Feta cheese or Chévre is nice. And mushrooms and some extra veggies.

Not sure what I will make for John yet. He's not much for festive food. He could eat chicken nuggets every day of the week. LOL Besides, I think he prefer the Easter candy over food anyway.

Oh, @BrightEyes - of course I'll still pop in here - this is my hOme!

Morning ladies! Just quickly popping in to say good morning to you all and hope that you have a lovely day today! The sun is trying very hard to come out for our hike and I am all ready to leave. Sorry no personals, but will try to catch up with you all either later this afternoon or tomorrow. Hope the winds have stopped for you all and the sun comes out to warm you up! CYL!

Popping back in over lunch. Brian is working through his lunch hour and I started work early this morning so I'm going to take a few minutes to vent. They say that everything looks great for Shaun. They are referring him to a nephrologist but don't think that they will find anything. Perhaps it is just a really nasty UTI but after three rounds of antibiotics, that doesn't seem possible. He is so frustrated. The bleeding started up again two days ago...not bad but not good. I am so afraid that this will happen while we are in Europe. I don't know what to try next! Anyway, just venting...because you ladies are the best!

I can't believe it's afternoon already. Spent the morning on the phone, taking the dogs in the playroom for a bit, doing online paperwork (paid off all credit cards, it's the first time in years we have a 0 balance...yay). We'll have to go change our drivers licenses and get our insurance stuff done. Still lots to do but slowly getting it all done. Picked up a heavy duty shelving unit from FB marketplace to keep surplus canned goods in the garage. Its perfect. I will rearrange the pantry a bit today and stock some things in the garage. We'll go to costco maybe tomorrow. Last night we had a technician come and re-mount the TV above the fireplace. It needed to be dropped down a bit and they tightened everything up. We have the new sound bar under it and now D is happy with it all.

Today is more kitchen unpacking and then will setup more of my dressing room.

I'll be back later to read personals. I should probably get dressed now :)

Well, I made it in before the day was over. Chuck forgot to tell me that I had a eye dr appt today. So that took up a good part of the day. He said he put it on the phone family calendar, but if he did, I didn't register it in my brain - imagine that BWAHAHA. Anyway, I need stronger glasses - I knew I did so while we were there, I picked out frames and am having them made there. I was going to get my prescription and have them made online, but Chuck said he thought I should just get them made here and if anything was wrong, they could fix it. I've had my close-up glasses for probably about 6 years, so they've served me well.

Chris @faerywings I forgot to answer your question from yesterday about the camera on our phone. I really don't know - you asked about how good the camera needed to be? I wish I knew the answer to that. Why don't you go to the app store and read the ratings? That's all I can advise. Do you have an iphone or an Android? I wouldn't THINK that the quality of your phone camera would be a big influence, but I could be wrong. When you scan a photo or document, the app has built-in editing and honestly, the new photo/document looks better than the original. I've scanned lots of old newspaper articles and it's pretty amazing.

Yes, it does feel like forever ago that we lived in that little house. We've been in our new house for almost a year and a half. Time sure does fly! That house was really cute but really small.

It felt so good to get outside and work in the gardens. Yes, I was sore yesterday - I'm never sore the first day - it always hits me the second day! My thighs were really sore last night when I got into bed. Haha Kay @BrightEyes we're getting that awful wind too! The day I worked out in the gardens, it was mild, but it's back! Awful winds - not 60 MPH but about 30 that's bad enough. We bought a new flag (the second we've had since we moved into the new house) and it's getting beat up already. We figure they're only going to last about 3 months with this wind. Glad Chari is doing well enough to be trying to go home. I'm sure you'll miss the company though.

Eva @tanteva the planks look good. Rae @bcgal00 hope things are going well, Lynn @Lynn Grieveson hang in there.

Better go and see what else I need to do around here.

Group hugs and love to all.

PS I'm going up to see the kitties tomorrow. Adrienne's been sick since Sunday and I'm staying away from them. I went up there Sunday and she was feeling really bad - she has strep - went and got tested and has been on anti-biotics for over 24 hours, but I'm not taking any chances. I'll let you girls know how the little things are doing.
