GooooOd morning! How are all of you today? Who needs some :tea:?? I have a big pot on, and am willing to share.

I think Cait had a nice b-day. She had one of her BFF's come over after school and stayed for dinner. Brendan was home from work at dinner time too. She loved her gifts for what they were worth. I had gotten her a plastic mason jar with a lid and straw so she can bring her smoothies to school. I filled it with Hershey Kisses and added little notes on folded strips of paper- some were inspirational, like I am so proud of you, and there were others in there that were silly. Like this:
You never drive me crazy.
You understand sarcasm.

She got such a kick out of reading them and we were all laughing. It is like what Shar and Claire said the other day, things don't have to cost much to show how you feel or to share good feelings. I have to remember that when I get down on myself again.

My body is feeling the strain of the day however. Between food shopping/cooking dinner/baking dessert- my back/hip is one big area of nerve and muscle pain. Def. need a pain patch on that today.

Cait and I have an appt with the RD this afternoon, and we are excited to tell her that Cait has made some great improvements in her diet. I asked her the other day if she had weighed herself recently and she told me that she hadn't. She had noticed that she was weighing herself too often and wanted to break that cycle. It took me decades and years of treatment to be able to do that.

:elephant:
It's Elephant Appreciation Day! This holiday created in 1996 by Mission Media Inc. founder Wayne Hepburn. As the story goes, his daughter gave him a paperweight of elephants on parade as a gift. He became completely fascinated by them, and amassed an enormous collection of elephant books and other paraphernalia. His interest led to the creation of this day, where everyone can take a moment to reflect on these amazing creatures.
You may not realize just how unique elephants are! Here are 5 fun facts:
1) African elephants are the largest land mammals on the planet!
2) Contrary to cartoons, elephants don't like peanuts.
3) Elephants can live to be over 70 years old.
4) They are the only mammal that can't jump.
5) Elephants can cry, play, laugh, and have incredible memories!
Show how much you care about these gentle giants by donating to a sanctuary or foundation, or learning more about their habitat and behavior.

Trudy- thanks so much for the good thoughts about Cait, she is a piece of work :D That soap looks like it smells yummy!

Sharron- I am in that Club too, I have been working on cleaning out digital things but it seems like I am getting nowhere! MIL is like that with fabric- she is a quilter and gets teased by her friends that she has more fabric than some fabric stores.

Jean- welcome back! So sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. Stress will do you in every time. I am not sure how you feel about natural remedies, but I take Elderberry syrup and liposomic Vit C- both of which are supposed to support the immune system. Maybe they might help when you know the stress is getting to you? I hope that things settle down for you-- sending gentle hugs!

Morning ladies... Chris I will take you up on your offer for a cup of coffee!! I am up early again this morning, but it was a great nights sleep so that is ok! Very chilly here this morning, probably why I slept so well, I did not have to throw off the covers 100 times last night. :becky:

Chris - Your gift to Cait sounds just perfect!! That's right you don't need to spend a lot of money to give the best gift of all... The gift of love and appreciation!! Hope your hip and back pain are not too severe today! Perhaps you need to take a break today and just sit and relax a bit?? Glad to hear that Cait is improving her diet and that she is breaking the cycle of weighing her self too often. Good on her for having such a great head on her shoulders!! No wonder you are bursting with pride for your beautiful daughter!!

Sharron - I am also a member of that club, so many little bottles of paint stored in my closet, half of which need to be tossed because they are probably all dried up LOL , I have a hard time parting with them :loco: Hope you can find a loofa soap, it hurts the skin a bit at first, but it sure has made my skin nice and soft and chemical smell free!! Great to use on your feet too to remove that rough skin!

Jean - Sorry that you have been feeling under the weather! Darn stress is a terrible thing! As for my SIL, she is putting an offer in on the house in Ladysmith this afternoon, that is a good thing as she won't be too close, but we will see what happens with this offer. I doubt that it will be accepted, she is asking for way less than listing price. Cute that you got to watch the bunny in your yard, they can be so sweet, until they start to eat all your plants :becky: Hope you are feeling better today!!

I am off to swim this morning and then at the hairdresser for the afternoon, love my time at the hair salon its nice to be pampered for a bit LOL. Enjoy the day everyone!!

Had a great night's sleep, not here till afternoon. It's possible that part of my troubles last week came in reaction to a medicine I'd been taking for years. All cleared up when Dr. had me stop it. Thanks for the good wishes, am really feeling great just to be free of problems.

Chris, love the gift to Cait. When I graduated high school (millions of years ago) my mother gave me a small box full of little things to take to college. A mini-stapler is STILL my favorite for a small number of pages. Another time she gave me a box of sewing stuff including a seam ripper, a real winner for sure. No big expenses but treasures to this day. And your girl clearly knows to appreciate your love. Super that she has progress to report to the RD. Hope your pain is managed today!

Trudy, family's do seem to keep bringing us change. Hope SIL settles, not too close, soon. Good you're getting a little pampering today.

The thing about elephants that impressed me most is probably how social they are. Sure are amazing creatures.

Glad you are feeling better Jean and you have found the cause of the problem.
Hope you had a good swim Trudy and enjoy your time at the hairdressers.

Glad Cait liked the present Chris, did you ever do secret Santa, we did in a group I belonged to and we had a quite small amount we were allowed to spend. I really enjoyed going to look for things for it and when we all opened our presents it hit us forcibly that the givers and getters had just as much fun when a small amount was spent as when a bigger amount was.

I got a nice surprise when I went on Facebook this morning my anna colour challenge had been picked as the weeks spotlight.

I love buying scrapbook things but have to watch the expense so I use a strategy I have perfected over the years. Each month I buy a gift certificate for the amount I will allow myself to spend and send it to me, I can then buy things using it, which is what I have done here at Oscraps this month. If I run out of money I will just look to the freebies until I can stock up with a new gift certificate next month.

I still look through the store and add things to my. Wish list. I think I have about two dollars left this month.

I do the same with amazon where I buy kindle books, Facebook games and a few scrapbook supplies for my project life folder which I do every week.

Chris, the gift for Cait is priceless. You did good. Hope you are rewarded with less pain today.

Jean, glad you're feeling better. Meds really can mess with you. I was taking one for awhile that made me cough all the time. My doctor asked me if I could live with that!!!! NO!!!!!!!!! She switched me and I quite coughing within a few hours!

Claire, congrats on the Spotlight! And thanks for sharing your shopping strategy. What a great idea. I didn't golf with DH today, so I figure I should send myself a $20 GC! What do you think!

Trudy, hope the swim and hairdresser was all good.

Another wonderful day with Clara yesterday. I noticed some sniffles though...praying I don't catch it. :(

Elephants: My youngest DGS's "thing" is elephants...or at least it was until he discovered Cookie Monster. From birth, his Comfort Toy was "Lumpy." In real life they are fascinating. I did not know they didn't like peanuts.

Yesterday and today are Chamber of Commerce Days in our area...the reason people want to move here. "The bluest skies you've ever seen...." low humidity, mild temperatures (mid to high 60s), fluffy white clouds, mountains showing every direction you look, and Lake Washington looks like a diamond-studded sapphire. Hope it holds through Monday, as we're scheduled to play golf with 3 other couples, then have dinner together.

No DH home to make my lunch today. Guess I'll go put the last of my roasted Costco chicken on a croissant (lots of mayo! ...a little pepper jack cheese and dijon...yummmmm). I think I'll even squeeze some lemon into my Pepsi. Is that a gourmet lunch, or what?
