Happy Tuesday!
Guess what?? After the few hours of housework I did here yesterday... my house is still a mess!
:thud:

I don't know how it happened. I felt like I didn't sit down (besides the grocery order at my desk) until well past noon. It doesn't look like I did anything. In fact, IMHO- it looks even worse.
pfft.
I am a mess. Literally. Figuratively. Mentally. Physically. Yup. I think that covers it. :lol23:

Scott and Sam are here for dinner tonight. I have to put the table back together and clean up the dining room if we want to actually *sit* in there. There are a ton of dead yellow jackets on the window sill that need to be cleaned up too. There is way more than that outside and under the siding.
Faery Being Stupid Alert: We have one of those battery-operated flyswatters. The yellow jackets were *infuriating* me yesterday so I grabbed the flyswatter (it's shaped like a tennis racket) and went on the front steps next to the entrance to the nest. As they flew in and out, I would push them between the racket and the siding. I don't usually kill bugs, I bring them outside but after all summer of these a********, I am done. I sizzle a bunch of them and I know I am pushing my luck the longer I am out there. I tell myself-- One more. Then I'll go inside. Then again-- Just one more. Annnndd. Well, guess what happened?
@%$*@$
I was so careful watching them swarm in front of me that I didn't see the one coming at me from behind! :angry4:
Dang, it got me on my finger and it still hurts

Anyway, that was my "excitement" of the day. I didn't even tell my family because I was stupid. hehe.
:loser: <~ me

Today I really have to put the house in order.

big hugs to you all!

"Mark" has one of those battery operated tennis racket thingies! I say "Mark" because it is his toy and I don't use it, LOL! I leave all of the fly swatting and bug zapping to him!
You need to show us a picture of your "new" table once you get it put back together!

Good morning!
Nothing in the works except lunch with Mark today.
I think I will do some scrapping today. I took some pictures of the beautiful setting for the widows' retreat. They also do summer camps for the kids and retreats for pastors and their wives in August. Mark and I took a ride out there in October a couple of years ago. Absolutely beautiful!

I'm still working on the baby blanket. I got side tracked last week while preparing for my daughter's stay over the weekend. I finally picked the needles back up last night. I still have a little over half way to go on the decrease side.....about 120 rows. It certainly is a long process!

I will probably pick up a few groceries while I am out for lunch today. And I might do some laundry this afternoon since I didn't get to it with the daughter activity of this past weekend. I'm glad Mark and I have plenty of undies! ;)

Have a great day!

@vickyday Thank you for the kind compliment about my dad. He always called that his dress uniform. They also had parade uniforms, and of course, his turn-out gear.
I can see how happy you and your DDs are in that picture- gorgeous ladies, all of you. And you all have the same smile ♥
How often does Jessica drive to NC? That must have been a wonderful surprise for Elizabeth to see her. Did you say that Elizabeth turned 40? If you did, she looks much younger than that! Jessica too. Of course, you don't look old enough to have daughters in their 40s either so it's good genes for sure

@BrightEyes Well, that sure stunk that you had to go to the store to get the SIM card turned on for your phone. Did you say what kind of phone you got? The buttons on the side of my phone are for volume too. I have to open the Camera app to take photos. On my last phone, (I think) I tapped the screen twice to take a picture.
:giggle4: That's funny that you had the volume down so you couldn't hear the phone ring.
Yippppeeee, bet the rain was welcome.
Jenn's papers are 100% drool-worthy! I can see why you would stay up so late playing with them!

@taxed4ever My parents always swore by checking out the car lots on Sundays too-- what kind of Hybrid are you looking at? A car or truck of some sort?
I hope that you got a much better night's sleep. Maybe after cleaning the house, you wore yourself out and slept well. That doesn't usually work for me. :/
Sophia Marie is just a gorgeous name! My dad has cousins named Sophie and Marie (Sophia and Maria as their given ones). Do you have any pictures yet?

@Cherylndesigns Oooh, you have more good marrow thoughts coming to Marley :sparkles1: I hope that she is improving and that it lasts!!!! please oh please! That's wonderful that the family was able to hang with her and enjoy dinner too.
You must be in such a state of not knowing if you are coming or going, so here are some hugs just for you too xoxoxoxo
Yeah, 9/11 was rough for NY/NJ. My dad and a bunch of his firefighter buddies wanted to go into the City. Thankfully, they stayed at the firehouse on Standby all day. Heartbreaking stuff for everyone.

I'm freezing my butt off here, so I am going to put some longer pants on and grab some b-fast. And coffee. :coffee1:

Thank you for the "young" compliment! Yes, I have 3 that are 40+ now with one more to go. He will turn 40 in 2 years. Jessica turned 43 in January, Michael turned 42 in June, and Elisabeth is 40 now! I only "feel" my age when I start thinking about how old my kids are, LOL! I will be 68 next month. I do have pretty good genes. The only "old" showing is my hair, LOL!

Well... yesterday was quite a day. Have to LOL as I was dressed in shorts and tee and the temp was in the 60's.... and it was spitting rain. It only got to 73 in the late afternoon. Yes... it felt like FALL had arrived. Suppose to be the same for the next few days. Time to pull on long pants and maybe long-sleeve tops.

My new cell phone is a Moto 5G 2023. Turns out I didn't need to make the trip to have the sim card turned on... it was taken care of before I made the trip to TM. But, glad I went as I asked about my 'free benefits' that came with my plan. Had to call TM service and they texted me the links for Netflix and AppleTV. I was smart and used my computer to get them registered as I am still stumbling around on trying to use the cellphone. DD#3 had used my smart TV when she stayed with me so she could watch Netflix... and her family profiles were still there - but not active. Couldn't figure out how to delete them so will wait until she is back down to get her to delete them and get my profile up there. And I have no idea about how to get the AppleTV setup on the TV. For right now, I can watch both on my computer. So glad I have 'tech-savey' kids to help me.

Just for a change of pace, I played around with a pre-release collection from DigiARTventures last evening. WOW... it was so much fun. Have to admit that scrapping got my mind off of trying to learn about how to use the CellPhone.

Morning everyone! It is a rainy, grey morning, but that's ok we are in desperate need of the moisture! I hope that it lets up for my hike tomorrow though. I finally got the house cleaned and got my eggs at Hope Farm. The price has gone up another dollar for them Uggh!! Just like everything else I guess. They are such good eggs though, its totally worth it! I made a batch of Broccoli Cheddar Soup in my Instapot and then supper in my Instapot, Pork Chops with mushroom gravy, ohhh so yummy!! I managed to stay awake all day and hit the pillow last night at around 9:45, slept right through the night, so I am feeling refreshed and ready to get busy with some scrapping. Not much else happening here, so I will try to get started on a junk journal that I have been wanting to tackle for awhile now. For some reason I did not have any time to get that started :giggle4: . I had a lovely talk with Sadie and her Daddy last night, she called to say thank you for the new phone cover I ordered for her. She had mentioned wanting one a while back and so I surprised with one. It had a design on it that she loves and found on the internet, so I got it made for her. Sneaky Grandma LOL. Everyone in that family is so busy right now, our Son has lots of trips to go on with work, Jackie our DIL is busy with her work and volunteering at the Yacht Club. Isaac is enjoying grade 10 this year and loving that he can do ceramics in one of his classes. Sadie is in grade 8 and says she is not liking school, but I think she really does as she talked non-stop about what she has been doing at school LOL. Looking forward to a face time with Heather today, they are in the process of meeting up with a realtor and discussing what they are looking for in a new place. Exciting times!! I will keep my fingers crossed that they find something that they love!

@faerywings - I have one of those tennis racket wasp killers too!! It has had its fair share of kills this summer!! I would highly recommend that you get one of those bombs to spray up the wasp nest and get rid of those darn things for good!! You wait until they are all in there for the night and then you fill the nest up with the foam spray, it sure does the trick! I know you don't like to kill bugs, but those things are just a dam nuisance!! Sorry one got your finger yesterday!! OUCH! All the more reason to get rid of them all! I hope you get your table all put back together today, enjoy your dinner with Scott and Sam. How are things going with the housing search for Caitlyn? Yikes you will soon be a real empty nester, just be happy that they are all so close by and hopefully you will be able to spend more time going on hikes with your Gary!!

@vickyday - Yes you do have great genes in your family, everyone looks fab! I am also going to be 68 in April of 2024. I haven't let me hair get grey yet though and as long as DH is willing to pay for the colouring, I will continue to get it coloured LOL. I don't have a nice colour of grey like you do, mine is very mousey brown grey, UGLY!! I only feel my age when I look at my kids age too, Jason will turn 46 in December of this year and Heather will be 42 in February. I really am feeling old right now after this :eek2:. I hope that you have a lovely lunch with your Mark today!

@BrightEyes - Glad that you are getting some freebies from the new phone activation, its really pretty easy to set up your apple TV on a smart TV, but nice that you have your kids to help you out with it! I will have to check out the pre-releases this morning, hope you are enjoying your scrapping! I have to take a break every once in awhile as my wrist is still bothering me a bit. The stretching exercises are helping a lot though and its not as bad as it was a week ago.

Ok I will go get my bed made and get into the :showering:before Heather calls, have a great day everyone! :waving1

@faerywings I was :floorlaugh: about you and the bug-slapper as you chased the yellowjackets around. So sorry that one got you. That would happen to me if I tried to use that thing... it would 'snap' at me instead of the bugs.

I feel the same way... by next November all 5 of my kids will be 60 or older!!! Where did the time go??? I also have good genes. Have to admit that 2 years ago the hair finally starting turning gray but mainly in the front... the back is still more brown. I decided many years ago that I would 'gray gracefully' and not color my hair. My dad had such beautiful silver gray hair and hoped I would have the same. DH encouraged me to do that. But think I am taking after my mom who still had more brown than gray when she died at 95.

@taxed4ever Glad you got a good night's rest. Sounds like you have several projects going... hope you make progress on them. You have my utmost sympathy with the wrist problems. I have to take breaks when I am typing due to mine. And it is 'talking to me right now' so will have to close this out.

I colored my hair for about 3 years but got tired of messing with it as I did my own!
Do you like your Insta-pot? Am I correct in thinking it is like a pressure cooker? Your pork chops with mushroom gravy sure sounds good!
I have an air fryer Mark and I got for a wedding gift 5 years ago that I have never used! Shame on me! It seems like it would be a pain to clean. I've just never really even looked at the book for it!

My mom had Cherokee in her blood and her hair was coal black and straight as a board! I probably had more gray hair when I was 40 than she had when she died at 69!
