Hey there and happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is doing really well today. No crazy dreams of hugging last night so that is good, I guess? I read an article in the NYT this morning about how "touch deprivation" is real and how people are finding ways to accommodate that- everything from hugging trees to weighted blankets.
Do any of you use a weighted blanket? I keep hearing that they are really helpful but when I did some research last year before Christmas, it seemed like the good ones are pretty expensive.

I got everything done on my list yesterday- everything but one thing if I am being honest, but it was a small thing ;)
Scott said the interview went much better thanhe expected. They seemed to like his initiative especially in the development of the invasive plant remediation program he was working on at the ecology center. He said that they told him that he would hear from them one way or the other but also told him a little more about a second interview. Is that normal? It has been a really long time since I interviewed for a job and I have to say that the few I had were more formalities than anything, I was approached for most of my teaching jobs.

I made a realllllly good Amish Apple Fritter bread yesterday. It was easy even though I messed up the glaze. I used 1.5 Tbsp of butter instead of .5 Tbsp so I had to keep adding more sugar to get it sort of smooth. But it tasted really good anyway. (What is a little more sugar? :D)

I have to pick up my groceries and then I *think* we are going to try to do some decorating. No matter what I do it will need to entail housework.

Sending hugs to all of you!

Jean- Did it feel weird going into the library to browse a bit? That is going to be on my list some time soon. What are you reading? i was able to finish The New Jim Crow before it was recalled and it was perfect timing since another e-book I had on hold was ready at the same time. I am reading How to Be an Antiracist- just a touch of light reading before bed. *wink* I am, looking forward to seeing Caitlyn again (that girl is non-stop busy!) so we can discuss.
Scott really does have a lot going for him, he doesn't realize it but he is so intelligent and thoughtful and is able to convey that to adults. One question that they asked him was how he would feel that the people he would have under him would be twice his age. Seeing how well he relates to his grandfathers- that is 100% not an issue. heh.

Trudy- I hear ya, it is sooooo cold. It makes it so hard to get out of bed in the morning. Oh man, the poor boys, I hope it is only run of the mill colds for them. Is Heather considered higher risk because of her health or is it more physical rather than immune? No matter-- it has to make everyone nervous a bit. Tell the boys that Crazy Aunt Faery is sending them hugs!
The T-day sounds like it will be very nice with the ILs, that is next weekend?
I had to chuckle and the US of C even though it played into some not-so-nice stereotypes. :(
I am keeping my fingers still crossed that Sadie and Isaac's schools stay safe and your DS too.

I have to get in the shower so I my hair isn't wet when I leave the house in a bit. I am not washing it, just throwing on hat but if it gets damp, it is so thick and frizzy, it will stay that way for days.

xoxo!

good morning - I am done being in a funk. I had such a great weekend with my youngest son. He went shopping for an engagement ring. We found exactly what he wanted. Then went shopping and ate outside for lunch. Everyone was masked and the outside dining was very spread out. I love that knowing his life is happy. My oldest son called and he wants to roast a pig for his birthday. I said of course we would come to his pig roast. So their lives are going on so I am too. I am having great walks. This fall is so beautiful. Luther and I are loving it. I have been for my yearly physical and my health is good. Went to my knee surgeon and my knees are perfect so that is great. I have had my flu shot and my updated shingles shot. My girlfriend is on her second round of major chemo and has already lost her hair but she is up beat so that is good. It was good to talk to hear.

Chris yes this country is a mess. It is hard to watch the news but the news just makes me more sure I have to keep talking to my sons about doing the right things. I read some past posts and I hope your hip is doing better. That must have been scary. My sons love to shoot guns. I am sure having a Marine teach Scott safely is the best.

Trudy so sorry about all the smoke. My sister in law has had to evacuate twice and a neighbor lost their home. It is all so sad. Hope your inlaws are doing well.

Jean hope your DH is ok. Glad you are still having your genealogy meetings. I loved the drawings of the tarantula.

Cheryl glad you are doing so well in your new home.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone! It is another very, very foggy morning, but the birds are singing and I am hopeful that the sun will come out eventually. Sure hope its not this foggy for our hike tomorrow or we won't be able to see the amazing views that are on this hike. Had a nice long chat with Heather and Hunter, Mason is back to school and hopefully Hunter will be at Pre-school tomorrow too. Hunter likes me to read to him now and we laugh at the funny books that I have. So darn cute!! Today I have some running around to do. I need to pick up a wine kit that DH ordered and go to the optical place to have my glasses adjusted and new screws and nose pieces replaced. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long to get into them. I also have to run into the grocery store and grab a turkey while they are still on sale. I really hope to get another calendar page done today too. I have been working on some Christmas Cards the past couple of days, which is funny because I haven't mailed Christmas Cards for a few years now, but heck with COVID I may as well right?? I also am going to get a couple of Halloween Cards done for the grands and send out a few little treats for them. Who knows what Halloween will be like for them this year??

Chris - I am happy that you did not have any crazy dreams last night and yes I think touch deprivation is a real thing!! I know I sure miss having all the cuddles and hugs from my children and grand children!! DH gives me lots of hugs, that is nice, but I still want to be able to hug everyone else  I have heard good things about the weighted blankets and I think that my one niece has one and loves it! Too bad that they are of course very expensive :mmph: I am so keeping my fingers crossed for your Scott!! He really does have so much going for him and I know that he must have impressed the people that interviewed him!! I will pass along the virtual hugs to my kids and grands! Thanks so much!! Our Turkey day is this Sunday, its coming up really fast!!

Nancy - So darn happy to see you here again and glad that you are out of your funky mood!! It hits all of us every once in a while and the world just seems to be going out of control these days! You must be thrilled that your son found an engagement ring and that he is so very happy with his lovely mate!! The pig roast sounds like a great time!! :hungry: wish I could join you!! Sending along good wishes for your SIL that she does not lose her home!! It really is so sad!! Yes the In-Laws are doing pretty good, just worry about the mental health of FIL. MIL seems to be rebounding from her Stroke and doing very well!

Ok I better get dressed and get out the door before it gets too busy out there! Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!
