Good morning and Happy Tuesday! I am going to make this quick. I am running late and I don't want to forget that I am picking up my grocery order this morning instead of my usual on Wednesday.

I kept myself busy yesterday puttering in the kitchen. I cleaned out the pantry cabinet and tossed a bunch of stuff that was stale. Set aside a few things that were for Scott. And somehow-- don't ask me how-- I have less room in there than when I started.
Today is going to be a good day to get into the attic. It's 38* now, but supposed to get into the 60s so I won't freeze my butt off up there. This afternoon I am going to do some raking. The good/bad thing about living next to the woods is that I have a place to rake the leaves (no bagging necessary!) but dang, there are a lot of them.

Personals:

@taxed4ever That would be amazing if you get a discount on the blinds.
Can you share the soup recipes? They both sound delish! I have a butternut squash and was going to make butternut "alfredo" with it but Cait is in a complete soup mood. I am making baked potato soup tonight. The buffalo chicken soup sounds really good too but I don't know if I can make that vegetarian. I can make Buffalo chicken pasta and buffalo chicken wraps vegetarian but my guess is the soup will be harder.

@BrightEyes yes, I can see that rereading books is like visiting an old friend. I had read something similar about rewatching shows and movies- one of the reasons shows like Friends revived during Covid.
That's going to be a quick visit with your niece but I know you will fill it is lots of laughter.

@Cherylndesigns You have every right to be calendar-confused! And phone-confused too.
The book was both intense and matter-of-fact at the same time. I don't want to let any spoilers slip so I won't say anymore, but dang. :brokenheart:
I haven't read Clan of the Cave Bear. I remember when the movie came out but I don't remember anything about it. I will look for it on Hoopla/Libby.
Glad that you had/have the doggies to keep you company.

@vickyday yes, the author was Ann Fairbarn

Hope that you slept well and can get around your house without pain today

Hugs!

The good thing about living by the woods in the country is that you don't have to rake the leaves! I love living close-is to town but far enough out it is country!
The night was decent until 3ish and then the pain and swelling kicked in! So I moved to my recliner which helped somewhat with the pain but not the sleep. :(

Morning all. The sky is a bit cloudy - but the weathermen are saying that the "COLD" won't be as cold as they predicted and not as much rain either! I can live with low 70's but wish we would get more rain. Of course, I hope that the weather isn't too bad while my niece is traveling. Looks like they are leaving South Dakota just ahead of the snow and bad weather.
Have a few things I want to get done before they arrive... :housekeeping: and :laundry: so better get them done today and tomorrow so I have time to recover.

@faerywings Hope you get your groceries picked up today. Had to LOL over your pantry/shelf looking fuller once you cleaned it out!! Good luck on doing the trip to the attic without freezing. I don't have to 'rake' the leaves as I have a xeriscape yard without any grass. I have a yard clean-up crew come in and vacuum them up after all the leaves have fallen.

@vickyday Glad you are back home. So sorry the pain kept you awake. I understand laying in the recliner was a bit easier on the back than the bed. I have spent many hours in my recliner for the same reason. Sending healing thoughts your way.

@Cherylndesigns So happy to hear that Chuck has been transferred to rehab.

@taxed4ever Hoping the cost of the new blinds are within the budget you want to spend.

Coffee cup is empty and chores are waiting. HAGD

Morning ladies... it is a rainy day and we have a rainfall warning, so I imagine we are getting to the season of atmospheric rivers coming from Hawaii. It's ok we still need to fill the lake and rivers up from our summer of drought. I was up early and have already had my shower, made the bed and emptied the dishwasher. I am ready for my second cup of coffee!! :coffeedrinker:. I probably should be going to the pool today, but I have to get going on my calendar (I keep procrastinating just like every year). It will get done I know. I also have a page or two that to get started on from our little trip to Penticton and Gary's troop reunion. I made the butternut squash soup and a batch of bone broth and some cauliflower wraps yestereday. I am staying out of the kitchen today at least until I have to make supper.

@faerywings - Yes I will share the recipes, but I have no idea how you could make buffalo chicken soup into a vegetarian dish??? It takes 4 chicken breasts, what could you substitute for the chicken, maybe cauliflower?? Both of my recipes are for the instapot, but I think they can also be done in a crockpot if you don't have an instapot.

I added allspice, nutmeg and salt and pepper to the butternut recipe about 1/8 tsp of each, it just needed that little bit of spice . Salt and pepper to your taste.

Heather is calling gotta go be back in a bit!

Good morning all,

I'm trying to wake up here. Daisy and I slept better last night, but she kept infringing on my space. I put a blanket in the corner opposite my legs and she's staying on it pretty well. I have so much to do and I guess I'll start with the necessities. I just found out that the bank where our joint account is has locked our acct. They suspected fraud. So, I need to get to the bank. My clothes washer decided not to work, but Ava thinks she can fix it. I think it's something simple. When it rains it pours, right?

Chris @faerywings the movie Clan of the Cave Bear was not good at all. We were SO disappointed in it! It did not do the book justice in any way. We were as disappointed in a movie as we that one. Clan of The Cavebear was one of the "America's Greatest Reads" that show that was on a few years ago. I don't know if you watched that, but it was the top 100 of the favorite books.

Kay @BrightEyes I know you're looking forward to your niece's visit and maybe the rain will stop. It rained all night here and I wish I had the time/energy to work in the garden while the dirt is soft. It's supposed to rain for a few days, so maybe I can get out there.

I'm going to go and get me some more tea. Thanks for all of the good wishes for Chuck. Love you girls. XOXO
