Can we say "Sleepy?"
My poor, poor husband..... I woke up at 2:30 listening to him just throw up over and over. I got out of bed to check on him and his sugar was low and his head was pounding (and we had run out of advil) and he just could not stop vomiting. I hate hate HATE that I cannot help him. I tried rubbing his back but after a minute or so it looked like that was bothering him. I just remember rubbing my kids' backs when they were sick, but I guess a grown man doesn't feel the same hehe.
I was so worried about his headache. He said it was the worst he ever had. I am working on a Spotlight for a designer here who dies of a brain aneurism in 2007 and I guess that was in the back of my mind. But he was able to get his sugar up and went to sleep. I just woke him up a bit when I got the kids awake and he said he was feeling better. Thank goodness! I never know when I should call 911 for him. The one time he could not stop vomiting, it took me hours and hours to convince him that I should call. Afterward he admitted that he should have let me call way before I did. Men! ;)

Yesterday I was able to get outside and cut back lots of the old dying flowers. Collected some morning glory seeds for next year. Looks to be another beautiful day today and tomorrow we might get up near 80. My mom and I have plans to go down the Shore for the day which will be a wonderful end to the summer.

Hope that you all have some moments of bliss today! I am finding mine right now in my :tea:
Cutting back on caffeine did nothing to slow the heart palpitations so I am enjoying cup #2 LOL

Oh, and because it is October 1, be sure to check out all of the amazing Monthly Challenges the Cheery O's are posting today!

Phyllis- oh man Oh Man!!! Windows 8 sounds like a *nightmare* My mom needs a new computer since her's is from 5 years ago and she does not understand that means it is ancient in tech-age. We are telling her that she has to buy one that has Windows 7 on it. She is very un-tech savvy and I think Win 8 would make her head explode. I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time with it.
I don't know how true it is, but my neighbor and I were chatting and we saw some wooly bears. They are almost all brown and she says that means a mild winter. ALl I know is that the acorns are falling like crazy and the chipmunks are going nuts (ha!) which makes me think it is going to be cold. Guess no one knows except Mother Nature.
One good thing to note is that since we did get a generator last year for Christmas, that means no power outages for us :pound:

Pics of the bathroom, please!

Laurie- that sounds like quite a big job, but I bet you feel a lot lighter! When you are done, can you please come and help me with my attic???

Nancy-- the weekend sounds fab!! What a fun BBQ. And I bet the hawks were just lovely to see. What a bummer that it is hard to get pics. But such great memories!

Phyllis- is their some sort of Converter Software out there that can help? What a time consumer drag to go chapter by chapter.... :(

Oh Trudy!!!!! ((((((super gentle hugs))))))))) How is your back today? And what a bummer that it happened on your Spa weekend! Feel better!

Clara- hi my Soul Sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love seeing you in here! Is the Shutdown going to affect you at all? I hope not. What a mess.
I am so happy you get to go home for a bit. I know how much that means to you.And yes, you need to cry it out. Glad that it all worked out for that.
That is so cool to have a roommate to help out with th Coffee Stand. I am drooling every time you post about a new flavor!

Hope to see you back in here most days, lady!!

Hugs!!!!

lOve the O!
Good morning O fam! How are we all today- Chris- that sounds like an awful night. I surely hope he continues to feel better. No generator for me, I am at the mercy of the storms! Back to work today and after work, I am going to pick up my new glasses and go grocery shopping, eat dinner out somewhere- likely Chipotle and come home and relax. I hope to upload a layout a day (not that I am making them, just that I am uploading ones I have forgotten to upload!!)

Marvelous Monday's all!!

always chatty at the O!!
Good morning ladies. I love being in the OR because it allows me time to chat with you guys. I'm guessing you'll see me post in here every 6 weeks or so...well...I'll try and be better about it. ;)

So...government shutdown...what's that mean for me. Honestly, I'm really not sure. It means I'm writing to my congressman and senators today. I saw a letter a congresswoman supposedly wrote saying that as long as any pay is being witheld she'd like hers witheld also. I hope others consider doing the same. But as a military spouse and a govenrment employee it may mean a few things. As a spouse...the military paychecks are supposed to still be coming so that is a weight off our shoulders. On the otherhand...my paycheck may very well not be coming and many government employees won't be at work today. I read that our commissary will be open today to sell the perishable food but after that they will not be open. Most military services will be closed. Services that cannot close, such as security, hospital, etc will not be closing...we just may not get paid for awhile. It'll be interesting. Many military banks and credit unions are stepping up to the plate though. I know around here Navy Federal CU and USAA have both stated that if you have your pay direct deposited into an account there they will provide 0% loans so that you don't even notice a missed payment. I thankfully have USAA so hopefully that's how it goes. Of course if we have furloughs again we won't get paid for that regardless. So, as of right now that is how the shutdown is affecting me...basically I have no real idea how it is going to affect us. I'll keep you posted.

So, my plane ticket has been officially bought and I get to be home for my niece's birthday party. I even volunteered to make the cake. I have some amazing people in my life who helped with the plane tickets to make sure I could go and am feeling amazingly blessed. It'll be nice to not have to take care of anyone and get to play with my squishy little niece. I haven't seen her since March and she's so much bigger and doing stuff and has far passed the blob stage...even though she's still too fat to move much. I am so thankful for Facetime and videos so that I can still hear her and see her grow.

Our mandatory flu shots were yesterday. My husband and I went together...it was kind of fun. We were supposed to wait 20 minutes after to make sure we didn't die but we decided that since we were both medical professionals we could go to breakfast instead. So we had a quick little breakfast date. We have also decided that we are doing a date night once a week. Our kids both rock climb and have class on Monday and Wednesday and it is in the downtown area so there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. So, one of those days we will start going and getting dinner together, put our phones away and just hang out. We've never really had the opportunity to do that so it's kinda fun.

Well, that's about it today in my world. I need to get online and see how else this fantastic shutdown will be affecting us. I have some time before my next OR case so off web searching I go. If anyone sees any good articles send them my way.

Chris - Hugs and prayers for Gary. That is so terrible. I can't even imagine how it must be for you just sitting worrying and not being able to help. I hope he gets some rest today and feels better soon. He is always feeling so sickly...I hope something gives and he can feel better. Enjoy your shore day. I love day trips with my mom.

Laurie - new glasses? That sounds fun. I need some new glasses too. I want some green ones but can never quite find what I want. Enjoy your day.

Morning ladies... back still hurting, but not as bad as yesterday. Still could not stand to be in bed another minute with it, every time I moved it would start to spasm  So will try to sit here as long as I can before it starts to bother me again.

Chris - Oh my gosh, your poor hubby!! How terrible that he is feeling so  my heart goes out to him and to you for not being able to help him. Such a helpless feeling!! So glad that he was feeling better though, such a worry for you!!!

Laurie - New glasses today? New frames or just new lenses? If you are getting both, then I want to see pics please!! I have to get my eyes checked soon and not sure if I want new lenses or not, I really like mine and I only use them for reading very small print, so I don't think its worth the $$ to get new frames. But some of the styles are so nice, that I think it would be nice to switch.

Clara - Oh dear, hope that you do not stop getting your pay check !! I really don't understand all the fuss about switching to a Health Care plan where everyone can have good health care??? The rest of the civilized world has Universal health care, why not you guys? Ok I won't go there, its all to political for me!! Anyway, it is so good to see you here in the daily "O"s ! How wonderful that you are getting to fly home to see your family!! A change is as good as a rest they say and it sounds like you are in need of a change!! If you make it up this way on your trip, let me know, it would be nice to meet you and share some coffee with you! :becky:

Nancy - Sounds like you had a fabulous time at your Devils BBQ and your trip to see the Hawks sounds amazing too!! Enjoy your lovely weather today, we are in for more :rain: here today :mmph:

Phylis - Oh brother what a pain in the ass your windows 8 is!!!! I would be tearing my hair out if I were you!! Sorry that you are having to spend so much time just to get your Audio books transferred over to iTunes !! Hang in there my friend!!

Well this about all that I can take for sitting for a bit so may as well get some breakfast started for MG and myself. Hope everyone has a pain free day!!

Good morning I had such an uneventful night and day yesterday. I must say it is so annoying to have the Congressmen paid and they shut down the government. Off to the dentist this morning. Love the feeling of clean teeth but dont really enjoy have the cleaning done.

Chris so sorry about your MG's being so sick. Hope he gets rest and can keep some food down to keep his blood sugar up. Enjoy the time at the beach!

Phylis the more I hear you and your problems with Windows 8 I am glad I am an Apple girl.

Laurie have fun with the new glasses.

Trudy I am so sorry about your back. That cannot be fun! I remember one summer my DH spent hours on his back on the floor because he just could not move. I know he now does lots of core exercises to hopefully keep his back in good shape. I have been hearing about the rain in the Northwest. Sounds like you are getting drenched!

Clara I hope this shut down does not impact you all too much! Those that serve deserve their paychecks the most!

Have a great Oct 1! Hockey is back!

Trudy - I think the healthcare stuff is just the issue today. The problem isn't the healthcare bill or whatever issue is going on that day in Washington. The problem is that the government is split in half and are all about their agenda. The American people have gotten lost in the government decisions. Both sides scream that the other won't compromise when the truth is that neither side will compromise. Until they can learn to work together this will continue to happen every year. It seems like every year or two we have rumors flying around in August and september that the military and government employees won't be getting paid because they can't come to an agreement. Fingers are pointed everywhere but the fault lies with everyone. Healthcare is just the issue this time. It is always something. The whole thing is just heartbreaking and personally I find it to be embarrassing. Ugh!! Hopefully they will come to an agreement soon so that I can get my paycheck in two weeks.

howdy. here i am, taking a break from the Great Restock of my iTunes library. i've been changing file names on audio CDs for, oh, about 2 1/2 hours so far today. but i AM making progress. the sad thing about this is that, apparently i will have to do this EVERY TIME i get a new computer, since, for some reason, the iTunes Library doesn't like to keep ALL the stuff you have in it IN THERE when you get a new computer. baffling and VERY un-Apple. can i just say again: GAAAAAH!!!!! :hurt:

Chris, what a terrible night! was the vomiting from the low blood sugar? yikes. but how are YOU doing, after being up all night with Gary? i love the idea that you and your mom are going over to the shore "one last time" before the season tanks. enjoy. have some fun. relax.

Clara, i think i heard this morning that the military will be getting paid, so that's good. as for the rest of it, my Hubby is a govt. employee, too. it's not clear when or if he'll get furloughed. he's in the middle of some trials, so i think they're calling that "essential." at least for the time being. i think he'd like some time off.

Trudy. chiropractor? they've saved my back more than once from stuff like you had happen. i really don't like to think that your spa weekend turned out like this. half so wonderful, and the other half so PAINFUL!!. do you guys have those ThermaCare patches up in Canada? i LOVE them. i think they have great big ones for your back. you should try that, at least, to have some constant warmth where it hurts. that might loosen things up. i really understand the not being in bed thing. you're talking to Recliner Woman here. right now i'm at the oint where i have to alternate between the bed and the recliner. too much recliner, back and neck hurt. too much bed, hips hurt. woot. i LUUUUURRRRRRRV getting old.

Chris, i believe acorns more than Wooly Worms (we call them here.) i saw a very "equivocal" wooly worm yesterday. about 50% brown and 50% black. ha. sounds like a weather forecaster. cover all your bases, oh, wooly worm! that way you have half a chance at being right! and also, Windows 8 will drive your mom NUTS!!! i finally have my desktop looking almost like it used to, but MAN, did i have to dig around and "hover" over stuff to FIND it!!!! there definitely were moments during this ordeal when i wanted to either cry or totally give up or throw the computer through the window.

Laurie, we actually HAVE a generator, (which I purchased...) but i can't get my husband INTERESTED in it. i'd like for there to be something in this house that I don't have to figure out. and he doesn't seem interested in learning "generator." so, it'll be ironic if the power goes out here. we will be spectacularly prepared-but-unprepared. typical.

OK. off to do a little more file name changing, then over to Home Depot for some Rustoleum. have a good one, O-zies. :becky:

Phylis - Yes making an appointment with a chiropractor very soon. I've just about had enough of this muscle spasms and pain!!! Never been to a bone crusher before, so a little nervous that once you start going then you always have to go!!!!

Oh Trudy- talk with your friends about who they like. I went to one in NY and at the first visit I said "in PT school they tell us you are bad people" and he responded " we learned that about you, too" Loved him, he took care of my shoulder problems faster than PT had done previously. His office still sends a happy birthday letter to me- 3 states away after 11years of us living here! If I ever had a problem and I was back in the state, I would go!!

Trudy, not true. there's no long-term necessity. although you will probably WANT to go visit your chiropractor as much as possible. just don't go to one who is going to nag you about vitamins....
