And we are off to a semi-normal day here in West Milford NJ! Kids are back to school. HS and Middle schools both have full days and the elementary schools are doing special half-days by doubling with the schools that have power. I am babysitting this morning and this afternoon since my friend is subbing at the HS and she has a full day but her son does not. But it looks like I am still not cleaning. I called my client and the phone went right to voicemail......

But it is an improvement from yesterday- more of my family and friends have electricity and internet/tv/phones. I was able to grocery shopping and get real food (took me over 2 hours!! Ahhhh!). Then I sat in a gas line for 1 hour and 15 minutes-- also better than expected. Baby steps.... :)

Its also Election Day and Gary and I have already voted, We have been doing Mail In Ballots for years now, so much easier than standing in line. Yeah, you miss some of the "aura" of the voting booth but that is well worth it. If I get too sad about that I can always step into my shower and pull the curtain around me.

Nana, I absolutely cannot imagine living in VA, FL, or OH. To be bombarded with ads-- its amazing that everyone doesn't simply turn of the tv and phones and just give up.

So that's about it in a nut shell--- hope that you all have a wonderful day!!!

So I didn't get any pics of the Halloween Set-Up, but Gary took a quick video of that he did: Halloween 2012
He was so bummed that we had very few kids here. But maybe next year we won't have a blizzard or hurricane 2 days before Halloween like the last two years

Nana-- HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope that the weekend rottenness is over with and that you are back feeling great. I do hope that you are taking as good care of yourself as you do for everyone else. You have to put yourself first sometimes
I cannot wait to see your new pages-- they never cease to amaze with their gorgeousness!

Phyllis- Its been weird but over the last week or so it seems like I have been seeing some of the best and the worst in people-- such extremes! Like the Marathon runners, the story was posted on a local news web page. Most people who really porud of them for running to help the Wayne Police Officer who has sever spinal injuries. Then a bunch of people started commenting that they should be helping others, not the police officer b/c he gets full benefits "just for being a cop." Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!:blabla: Its like ya can't even do anything nice w/o someone else knocking you for it.

Have you ever seen Dogma? Love that moviee-- but the best part is at the end when God turns out to be a woman-- Alanis Morrisette!! That alwasy crackes me up. Irreverent and un-PC, of course, but funny. A female god who plays skee ball down the shore.

Heather- oh yuck, hope that you feel better soon. Take garlic pills!!! They knock a cold out of you in no time. I swear by them. Glad that Chloe is better though.

Hugs to all!

Morning- did not get a moment to stop in yesterday- but completed my workouts both days- I put so much into it, that I could barely lift my arms yesterday- not good when you are a pediatric therapist!! I voted by mail on saturday- I don't like to mess with my morning routine and risk being late for my patients and I can't guarantee that I will be done work in time to get to the poles before they close. Today- terrific tuesday- how about you!

Chris, i sometimes agree with the view of God that's in the KeaneauMovie "Constantine." sometimes it feels like that. at one point Constantine says: "God is a kid with an ant farm." BTW, that is a surprisingly GOOD movie! usually keaneau Reeves acting just makes me laugh. but he's actually PERFECT in this part. Alanis Morrisette?? not who i would have picked. if we're doing God as a Girl, we need at LEAST Judi Dench. or Tina Turner.

re: the Sandy aftermath. the media isn't doing it's job. what a surprise. where's the 24/7 drumbeat about the million people still without power and all those without housing? where's the media blame-slinging we saw after Katrina? just saying. this is the sort of one-sided crap that drives me mad. the Fifth Estate is a pathetic failure at it's job.

well, that being said, have a happy Election Day. if you don't vote, you DID vote.:americanflag

P- locally- we have been getting updates left and right about the power. We have in NJ Nat'l Guard as well as crews from all over the country. Yesterday I saw a ton of out of state trucks. I tried to wave to them as I was driving but I have no idea if they saw me.:)

As of this morning my area is 85% back on. Which to those 15% must seem horrible beyond belief but when you drive around and see the amount of trees and lines down still... its truly horrible. There have been substations that were completely wiped out and have to be rebuilt before they can even think about working on the lines. Mid boggling. Truly.... And I know its not feasible in all areas, but why the heck won't they put lines underground in more places? doesn't most of Europe have underground lines?

Just as a tip for people who are on FB-- Like the pages of your local police dept and utility companies. Both of mine have been fabulous in posting out information, especially since you can get to it is you have an internet capable cell phone.

We voted 10 days ago. The President and First Lady were in town at about 10 last night with The Boss. Saw it on the news...too old and too tired to fight the crowds for that kind of thing. For the first time, I am exhausted by this campaign. Very tired of being first in the nation with the caucuses...just draws out way too long. And being in a state that has lots of independent voters and could swing either way...exhausting. But, either way, tomorrow that is over for about three years. (Again, we are first in the nation so everyone will swarm here again...)

However, after all of that complaining...I am proud and thankful that I live in a country where I can vote.

Had school conferences last night. Sydney's were typical Sydney. Shaun's...well, Shaun's effort and attitude seem to be slipping a bit...so Mommy has some new ideas to try. Yay for Mommy...she just keeps trying!

Have you ever seen Dogma?

LOOOOVE that movie! Guess you have to have a twisted mind to like it, but I do. Hilarious and serious at the same time.

And you know me ... I have a favorite quote from every movie :)

"When are you people going to learn? It's not about who's right or wrong. No denomination's nailed it yet, because they're all too self-righteous to realize that it doesn't matter what you have faith in, just that you have faith. Your hearts are in the right place, but your brains gotta to wake up."

That was on the Swedish news too. Obama & Springsteen hugging.

They said on the news that it's normally around 53% voting in America. Really, I think that's shocking. I think the about 85% we have in Sweden is disgracingly low. On the other hand - we have more options here in Sweden - 8 parties (+ several smaller parties, that never get enought votes - 4 % - to get seats in the Riksdag). I could send you our prime minister - then you would have one more to vote for ... and we'll be rid off him. Gee ... I have some brilliant ideas today.

I've been muttering to myself since 6:30 am.... I have heat, I have a house, I have heat, I have a house...... I do. And I am blessed with that. I also have two teenage kids who are on my last nerve, a school bus that never picked them up this morning in 20* weather, no work, and spent my last bit of cash on gas after driving all over town to find a station that was pumping and (thank God!!) I only had to wait a half hour.

Morning everyone... never got a single second to be in here at all yesterday :hurt: I miss my "O" family!! So busy at work, got asked to stay with my good friend last night to do all the pricing of the Christmas decorations, it was fun to be there without having customers bug us, we laughed and talked and giggled like we used to when we were in high school together, such fun!!Tonight after work her and I and one other lady are going to get the trees decorated, so it will be another late night for me, but no work Wed, or Thursday, so I should get to be here and get some scrapping done. I also have to get my kids calendars done for Christmas gifts, they are sending me lots of pictures that they would like to see on them so I guess I better get busy!!

Chris - Sorry that your kids are having attitude for you today! Oh those lovely teenage years when they turn into Janet from another planet!!! Take heart my friend, this too will pass, but it will take a few years!! Glad to hear that things are slowly getting back to normal in your area, although I am sure that there is a long way to go yet. I am very proud of my fellow Canadians who have gone to help with the relief efforts and get the power back on for our neighbours still without it. Many employees from B.C. Hydro are there along with others from all provinces.

Laurie - Your dedication to your morning routine of excercise is amazing!! Hope your arms feel better today!

Phylis - I vote for Tina Turner for God, she would be perfect!! She could belt out a song for us too!! !!

LindaS - Yay for mommy Linda!! You are the best mom!! Keep those kids in line, they are so lucky to have you for their mom!!

Eva - Voting is disgracefully low here in Canada too, not sure what we can do to get the young people to vote?? Perhaps some honest politicians would help?? Ya good luck with that!!

Sending you some vodka Chris, hope it makes you cope with the day!!

Nana Linda - That bottle is for you and Chris to share, hope your day is great!!

Well gotta get ready for this very long day, at least I'm getting paid for all this extra work and besides Christmas is my favourite holiday season, even if it is a bit early for it. Have a happy creative day everyone!

Good am - I am sorry for few posts but am still without power and with the nor'easter coming I am not in hope of it coming on any time soon. Schools still not open. Chris there are no gas lines in my town so that at least my generator can function so i can power some but no Internet all 3G and slower than slow but my house fine and so are we.

At least all polling places in my town are open and I will head there soon. I too can't imagine why more do not vote. My son says why vote when he does not like either candidate but I am pushing him to go anyway.

Hope all is well with you all

I don't get around much huh?

Hope everyone has an awesome day!! & GO VOTE!

Chris - Keep Calm & Drink Coffee =] Teenagers, psh, send them to the smallest room in the house TOGETHER and tell them they can't come out until they behave. lol
