The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Today I am grateful that I am awake, had two lovely cups of coffee, and there is more coffee in the house when I need it.
Which is now.

Iy yi yii-- ya know how I say "it is always something" ad nauseam?
Welp, I say it all of the time not to p*** anyone off, but because it's true.

I got home from cleaning for my friend and asked Gary how Jaida did at the vet. He was able to bring her in to get her bloodwork/pre-surgical check before her surgery date next week.
The surgery date is still being held, but most likely *not* for surgery. Nope, not lucky enough for not *needing* the surgery, only not needing the surgery she was supposed to get. The surgery date is probably getting switched to a set of X-rays. The vet believes that the open sore is a sign of an infection from the hardware in her knee. (Recap: Jaida has two bionic knees. The right knee is patellar luxation repair which was done when she was 1 yo. Left knee is TPOL/torn CCL repair done two years ago.)
What our vet and the orthopedic surgeon both think is that there is an infection in the tissue surrounding the plates and screws. It will clear up temporarily but won't go away until the hardware is removed. So what was supposed to be a relatively easy skin removal surgery is probably going to be a much more invasive, complicated, and yes, expensive surgery with the specialist. One more year of asking for financial help to pay for my dogs' health care as my Christmas gift.
(NB: My ILs always give a check to us and to my BIL. They get to use their for home renos or vacations. Ours goes to medical-- human and canine- bills. There are many days that I feel a pity party coming on and have to knock it down. Today is one of Those Days TM. )

So, back to being grateful for coffee :coffeedrinker:  :coffeedrinker:

One more side note: I asked my mom for coffee for Christmas, too. Not anything fancy- just one of the ginormous Folgers containers from Costco.

The highlight of my day was making the Pine-Gnomes as I am now calling them
1764071904261.png
I even made a reindeer!

Today is going to be mostly all work, no play. (yes, I am a dull girl LOL) I have to finish cleaning the house, ironing the tablecloths, basically getting everything ready so tomorrow I can cook.
I doubt I'll have time or mental energy enough but I would *love* to get some time to work on the Nov. Color Plays. Just stunning as always.

Big
:hug4: to everyone!

Editing to clarify- the knee that is infected is the TPLO repair. The hardware can be removed and shouldn't need to be reinstalled (No idea what the right terminology is, but hopefully YKWIM!). So that's.... good! Right? LOL

@LSlycord Looooove the new avi and haircut!
Hope you got all of your T-Day prep done and didn't need a nap afterward!

@vickyday You are hosting two Thanksgiving dinners? I thought I was nuts doing T-day and Christmas Day! You~>
Yes, you can use anything for the "bacon" and that would be a great game to play with your HS groups! You're welcome;)

Yes, I'm right there in freaking mode with you!

Glad Gary doesn't have covid at least! Hope he feels better soon!
Yeah, I was thinking Falcons and Vole, or Squirrels and Acorn, totally works!
Sorry that you arein freak out mode too.
I had to laugh at myself when I read the part about Covid. I am so discombobulated that I forgot coamoetley about the Covid/T-day scare I had! Bwuahahah!! *taps side of my head* There is nothing up there. Empty space or maybe some jello if I am lucky. LOL

It's gonna be a week!
*screams into a pillow with you*
:thud:

Adding to the list the need for an updated profile pic. Another thing that won't get done!
You did it!!!! :wehaveawinner:

:cold: Thinking of Chris as its 12°F this morning.
Oh no-- I will keep my 30°F to myself. You have a blast looking at the snow/frost/ice. :giggle4:
Today is Monday. Means clean the house and do laundry. Guess what? I feel like maybe I can actually do it too!!! Starting to feel like Wonder Woman :floorlaugh: Okay maybe just in my mind. But I finally feel like I can resume life and not totally fall apart. Will still needs breaks but it will be good. I think I can even handle Thursday and all the cooking like normal. **Famous last words**
Yay!! That is just amazing!! I already told you not to push yourself so I won't say it again. Oh. I guess I did anyway, hah!

Rain ended about 9:45 and didn't start up again until 1:00, and we had a great group of volunteers that knew what they were doing, so we were able to get the bridge done without getting wet. Then we went to a brewery for beer and pizza and watched the rain through the windows.
That is great timing and sounds like a fab team!
Haha! The kids brought turkey and cheese sandwiches on white bread, an apple, and some pre-packaged cake thing with chocolate icing and bright bright sprinkles. I think he ate half the sandwich. We put the apple in the fridge and threw away the cake thing. He always has his own lunch, anyway.
It's the thought that counts LOL!!!! Must have been a sweet day - not counting the cake. ;)

All for this talk of organized kitchens cracks me up.
My mom has OCD- for real- and her fridge always has things lined up by height and facing forward. After my brother and I moved out, we would turn one of the condiment bottles backwards. Just because we were brats. But--notice that we did it *after* we moved out. We were brats but we weren't stupid :p

We keep the house at 68° (Jimmy Carter, my role model!) which is fine when you're moving around at all (unless it's really gray and damp). But sitting at the computer my metabolism just decides to shut down.
68* is balmy LOL. I keep my house at 66 and everyone hates me for it. Well, they can stress over the bills if they want to turn the heat up. We have a few space heaters bt the way my electric bill went up I don't know if that is a better option than heating oil costs. I usually have a ton of layers on, especially if I am sitting at my desk.
Did I ever mention that Cait got me a pair of alpaca wool fingerless gloves from The Greater Good? I loooove them! They go past my wrists and are supersoft and cozy.
I have them in grey:

Ooops, I don't have anywhere to go today, which means I'm rambling way too long!

HAGD!

I love your Pine-Gnomes and Reindeer, Chris! What a great idea and they are cute and well made. I have those kinds of pine-cones ALL over my lawn, hmmmmmm....
Thanks for showing us! :beatingheart:

So sorry J is going through so much trouble with her (?) knees! Poor pup!
Those pinecone gnomes are too cute, but I do like the reindeer, for sure!
Give thanks for the ILs money and don't think about how the BIL gets to spend his.....I'm thinking your "troubles" have made you stronger all the way around!! :hug4:

You know.....a pinecone gnome or reindeer would work, too, as the "bacon"

Yes! 2 Thanksgiving dinners are going to be held here! It only started out as 1 because we thought the one for Sunday was going to be at Mark's daughter's house (trailer). And because it is on Sunday, we decided to have our own turkey here with Mark's stepson and "adopted" grandson (Noah). THEN we found out Mark's daughter and family are coming here! Let's just say, from now on I will talk to her first to get the real story of what is going on! ;). We could've gotten Mark's stepson to come on Sunday as well instead of having a separate meal! Oh well! It is what it is!

And since I vented all of that yesterday, I'm good to go now.....HA! I say that today.....wait until Thursday comes around and I'm scrambling to get food on the table at the same time! ;)

Good morning,
Quick in and out so I can get my 30 days done and get started on more house cleaning before Thursday gets here!

Ilene and I went to COSTCO yesterday and I got 2 pumpkin pies and a pecan pie! The turkeys are in the fridge to thaw. I still have a few things at the grocery store to get, but I don't have any more room in the fridge, so it will have to wait for now. I need to clean out the fridge, anyway, so hopefully I will find some more room when things get moved to the trash! ;)
I'm cleaning the oven as we speak.....love that self-cleaning oven!

OK, gotta get busy!
Have a great day!

I am here but not feeling on top of the world... Rolled over onto my left shoulder and woke up big time...OUCH.... Yes the arm where I got the flu shot is sore...and a bit feverish. Time to take some meds. Yesterday afternoon was quite a challenge. Had to move a big speaker by the TV cabinet out of the way. Couldn't see/reach the back of the TV so I could install the Roku stick. I ended up having to remove the HTML cord to the blue tooth player in the back of the TV... there was only 2 HTML slots and the Roku stick had to have one of them. The other slot is where the DVD player has to be plugged in. Since I only have a couple of blue tooth discs and a ton of DVDs... that one had to go. Finally got the stick in place on the back of the TV and programed it... which meant running into the office to use the computer to get that done. I don't do well trying to use the cell phone - I do much better on the computer. Took over an hour and a half. Then I had to figure out how to switch it back to local channels...That is what the 'source' button on the remote is for!!!! :floorlaugh: Still need to load my passwords for the pay streaming services today..... or maybe that will wait until tomorrow. I need to take 6 of the 9 library books back today as the library was closed since last Friday (due to a water main break near it that took until last evening to repair); and it will be close Thursday and Friday...

@faerywings so sorry about J's infection and needing more surgery... 66*F is too cold for me... I keep mine at 69F* in the daytime and 65*F at night.

@LSlycord so glad you are back home. Love the new avatar and haircut. Yes, gal... I am reading up a storm and working on the 2025 challenges. Plus plotting out some books for the 2026 challenge.

@AK_Tracy Wow, gal... glad you are feeling better and able to do more. Just don't over-do.

@vickyday Oh, my... 2 holiday dinners and both of them at your house!!! Hope someone else will do the Christmas dinner at their house.

Off to get my shower/dressed and hope I make it to the library. BBL

Fortunately, Christmas for us will be in January. And it is usually at my daughter's house about 20 minutes from here....but I'll still be cooking!

Oh Chris, :hug3: Those darn dogs. Good thing they're cute since they cause us so much angst at times. I'm sorry the hardware is causing problems. Hopefully this will be the end of issues when she is all done.

I bet I can make you feel better (in a sarcastic way). Its 8° so at least you are warmer!! :floorlaugh::cold:
Yes I do love the frosted trees. They are spectacular to look at and they only happen when its cold. Yesterday the trees behind my house were pure white and sparkly and the sun was shining on them. Super cool photo (which doesn't show just how spectacular it looked). My house, not lit by the sun, white trees lit by the sun. Super cool (literal and figurative)

@vickyday You're crazy to do two thanksgivings :giggle4: But I get it. What's one more dinner when the house is already clean. This year I have one extra person coming which is crazy weird to only have one person coming. But that also means no deep cleaning for me. yeah!!!

@BrightEyes Kay that sounds awful that you rolled over and hurt. Darn those shot sites and how tender they get.

Not much happening. Will take dogs to groomers and start the pizza dough for sometime this weekend. I am sure after a day or two we will be tired of turkey since its a 24lb bird and just 6 of us to eat it. LOL But I wont have to cook much for several days so that is a win. Off and running, early groomer appointment. Need to feed the dogs.

Trust me...it wasn't by choice to do 2 turkey meals in 4 days of each other!

I had to go meet some people out on the trail so I decided to walk, which was a very nice 4 miles round trip. But according to my fitness app, it's only worth 200 calories give or take. I mean, really, it's just not fair!

Since it's only David and me for Thanksgiving this year I was just going to cook a simplified turkey dinner -- don't want too many leftovers. But then we arranged to go out for an early dinner with a friend who has dementia and isn't able to travel with his wife for the family visit this year (long story). He lives in a memory care unit at assisted living, but a close friend of his is determined he not be along for the holiday and decided to take him out to Cracker Barrel (easy, close, and familiar) and asked us to come along to help with conversation. Thanksgiving at Cracker Barrel will be an experience for us, but they'll be cooking the turkey. However, since I had already bought some turkey drumsticks I suppose we'll have a second meal on Saturday or Sunday.

After my grand search to find Christmas cards last week, today I saw that they have them at my grocery store. Could have saved myself some driving around, but how do even know what off-the-wall things a store might decide to stock for a few weeks?

Terri @Terri M isn't it crazy how different our daughters can be from us???? I'm SO glad you added that post about you and yours. It continues to blow my mind!! I wonder sometimes if she was raised by wolves.
I knew it was hopeless when I took her to college, and she had not a wit of interest in doing anything to decorate her dorm room. Now she's in her mid-40s and the house still looks like it was furnished with college castoffs. I just keep my mouth shut.

The highlight of my day was making the Pine-Gnomes as I am now calling them
They are so cute!

Ilene and I went to COSTCO yesterday and I got 2 pumpkin pies and a pecan pie!
I love their pies! But hardly ever have them; Costco sizes don't mesh with 2-person households.

Its 8° so at least you are warmer!!
Holy cow. At 8° we'd be worrying about the pipes and checking on neighbors, staying inside no matter what. Mail won't freeze. My mom always said that her kids had orange juice in our veins.

Well yesterday more PT.. we are working on strengthening now and I am making great progress but 4 more sessions...I will be very happy to be done, its 2 hours out of my day. I can walk without the cane some so I am loving that.
Last night at the club we celebrated my Hubby's birthday. I bought a sheet cake and the band played Happy Birthday. Tonight I will take him to dinner at the restaurant of his choice. He is thinking a steakhouse or a fabulous Italian restaurant that makes everything from scratch (my choice) we will see what he chooses.
I washed the sliding glass doors in the living room and dining room. I still need to clean the crystal chandelier. Turkey is thawing and most of the rest of the meal is planned. So easy just 5 of us but I have to admit it will be a tiring day as I always have so much to do.
I ordered a Christmas gift for the youngest grandson...He get everything he wants.. our son buys him everything he wants. I got him a Treasure Hunt Mystery Kit where he has to use clues to solve a mystery. He gets 6 weekly envelopes to help solve it. I hope it is a challenge for him and that he will enjoy it.

@faerywings I know humans can have problems with infections in replacement joints but the dog..wow. I hope things go well and that it all works out for you. I just love your pinecone gnomes they are adorable.
I do not blame you for having a pity party for human and animal medical bills. I would too. I guess we need to be glad their services can fix us, at least temporarily.

Go to run my friend wants me to stop over.

Good afternoon ladies. I was out this morning getting my covid booster shot. The roads are terrible today, we got about 6" of snow and then the temps dropped below freezing so everything is icy. I'm glad to be home and not going anywhere else today. Tomorrow morning I have a doctors appt in Calgary but will give myself lots of extra time for driving. I'll be happy to tell my GP that my BP is coming down. I've started a low salt diet and it is making a difference.

I will be scrapping today (yay) as I have enough jewelry stock piled for the upcoming market and maybe even the last one the following wkend. Good timing b/c I was starting to feel burned out with all the hours I was putting in. Then I'll be done until the end of March...yay! A much needed break.

@AK_Tracy You're colder than us. We are hovering around 18.

I need another tea and am going to go find a kit to scrap with.

Very true! I have never bought their pies, but Ilene swears by them, so I decided to spend the money instead of the time making them.
I do like buying their pork loins and cutting them up into chops myself and freezing them in packs of 2.

Holy cow. At 8° we'd be worrying about the pipes and checking on neighbors, staying inside no matter what. Mail won't freeze. My mom always said that her kids had orange juice in our veins.
Yeah, 8° is so normal and we are prepared. Plug the engine block heater in on the car so the oil is warm when you start it. Pipes are buried deep and insulated. Its not minus temps yet so its all good. Dogs wont be amused though as they're getting sheered and will need sweaters LOL But they are cute in sweaters.

Wow Rae you finally get a break and get to scrap. Enjoy the moment. Glad you have the stockpile of jewelry so you can take a break.

We up to 12°F now and its made such a difference (NOT). I really am enjoying the bright blue sky and the white frosted trees. I will see if I can attach a photo here of my view so you can see I am not as crazy as yall think :floorlaugh:

I even made a reindeer!

Chris @faerywings they are adorable! And the reindeer, who knew it could be so cute.

Good morning. That is what I started yesterday. And realized that it was as far as I got. Took Wavy to preschool, went to coffee with the pastor of a new church that I’m going to check out. Then spent the afternoon watching a preschool Thanksgiving program. I talked Syd into taking the afternoon off work so that she could get her drive home started early and miss some of the bad weather and traffic. In a couple of hours, I will come back and join the Wednesday O’s!
