helllO O-Fam!
What a difference between last Autumn and this year. The temperatures are so cold now, whereas last year we had a very long and fabulous Indian summer. I preferred last year over this. It's gonna be a cold day for the field trip and I'm going to be out in the open field for the majority of it.
I'm helping with the Adventure Challenge rotation, cooperative and team-building games. Not a lot of moving around for us.
Although.... I am small enough to blend in with the kids. I think this is a group of 6th graders, so maybe I can run around with them to stay warm?
I think I got everything done on my list yesterday that was a priority. I didn't do any scrapping even though I had the time. I looked at a few of the challenges, started one of them, and then couldn't get any mojo rolling at all. Not even a little. I drafted my AJ Week 4 and then reworked my lesson for next Monday's field trip. After last week's blah lesson, I thought I would go in a different direction. We were going to talk about hibernation and habitats, ending with shelter building. I scrapped the first part of that and will be focusing on beavers and how they engineer their lodges. Scott has a lot of materials about beavers, so I asked if I could borrow some of them. We can do a STEM activity, building small lodges with clay/twigs, etc. Maybe make the no-bake haystack cookies and call them beaver lodges. Then the afternoon can be spent in the woods making shelters.
That sounds like a lot more fun than hibernation topics.
Not to mention, how can you *not* be excited to talk about beavers?
Goals for today:
Stay warm
Don't hurt myself running around the field
Stay warm
What about you? Any fun plans or goals?

Guess I will spend either scrapping, resting, and working on book club stuff. Tomorrow is errand running.... trip to library (drop of books and pick-up on-hold books), pay bills, and stop at grocery store (need fresh fruit and veggies).

But I love every minute of it!
Otherwise it will be a mess. My silly dog, she's super quiet when she has midnight runs. She just paces back and forth from me to the door. No whine. No bark. No nose nudge. Just that mom feeling of something isn't right and hearing her click click click of her nails on the floor pacing. Men never hear it. Just like they never hear the toddler/baby at night.
While talking to a librarian there, I found out that I can also get an Albuquerque card and check out books from any of the city's libraries.. About 8 years ago there was split between the RR library and Albuquerque library and then you could only have a card from which city you lived in. Now you just have to live in the state of NM to be eligible to have cards from any city/county library. WHOO-whoo!!
And yes, several of the books I picked up will work for the 52 Book Club challenges!!! I need to prioritize which books to read first. Talk about a wealth of books and a bunch of new authors!!! And I found out that the road to get to the other RR library (4 miles away) that was under construction for the past 2 1/2 months is finally finished so I can take the shortcut to get to it... Just in time before the December bi-monthly sale is happening!
