Well. I guess that didn't take too long. I ended my run of good days with a bang. Or a thunk. A shaky kinda thunk. I think. *wooooo, channeling Dr Seuss!*
It started out with Caitlyn getting aggravated with me that I told her that the dress she was wearing was too short, esp. since she was teaching at the preschool. She wasn't feeling well, and that made her crankier. I was driving her to school so she could bring a project in and it was a fun (not) ride. Crazy drivers, too. Guess everyone was running late for work.
Get back home, do stuff around here.

Called healthcare.gov to re-enroll Scott and I for health insurance. So that actually went really smoothly. Updated income information, renewed the policy that we are on now and added a small dental policy. Wow. That was *very* unexpected.

Gary needed to do my dressing change for my so I asked him to do it after I got out of the shower. But as I am ready to wrap my arm up with the saran wrap, I see that the tape was all lifted on the bottom and that left it exposed to bacteria. Throw clothes back on, call Gary, who does an amazing job as always- I teased him saying that he should be a black market IV nurse. LOL
After my shower, I notice that the cap from my line is on the bathroom floor. Holy ****, that means that my line is completely open and exposed. Throw pj's back on carefully, call Gary, who says we need to put the extender line back on. (long story short- I am on my two week break from IV abx and the extender is uncomfortable so I thought I would just leave the line capped on its own). Put the extender on and then realizes he hadn't primed it with saline-- if we didn't check it before the next time we did IV, I would have gotten a nice big bubble of air in my vein. he says not enough to cause a problem, but at the very least, I can't imagine it would feel too good.
Take the extender off, prime it with saline, flush it, and heparin it.

As soon as we are done with that, the school nurse calls, Cait has a fever and has to be picked up immediately, and isn't allowed in school for 24 hours, fever free. Drive back to the school, go through several levels of Identifying myself that I am not either a mad gunman or suicide bomber (i know- it really is NOT funny, but this is coping mechanism), get her home, all by noon. She apologizes to me for making me come back and get her and I laugh that my healthcare.gov experience was the least stressful part of the day.

Bite your tongue, Faery!!! Ya just jinxed everything!!!!!

I get an email for the healthcare Marketplace with my eligibility information. It is saying (AGAIN!!!) that I am not eligible for the Marketplace ins. b/c I am eligible for Medicaid. But I am NOT! I have been through this before (y'all know that all too well  ) and now I have to call and find out why I am told one thing on the phone but that my application online shows that only Scott is eligible/on the insurance policy.

:frusty:

Soon after that, i get an email for Cait's LLMD- her iron levels are even lower that before. Both hemoglobin and ferritin. Ferritin is dangerously low. She doesn't like swallowing pills but iron supps only come in tablet or liquid. I have to give Scott iron when he was a baby and the liquid is nasty. I spent an hour researching different forms of iron, and figured that the iron pills I have in the house for her are about the same as anything else I can find. She is just going to have to suck it up. Of course, we had to cancel the appt with the dietitian but I feel like we really need to see her, asap.

Why can't i have normal teenager problems like who is taking who to the dance? LOL

The funniest part of my day came next. I call my mom to say Hi, we chat a bit, then she says the "Everything is fine now..." Oh jeez.
On Sunday, my dad and another firefighter were checking out the new truck the dept got. He stepped back off the stairs and it was either sloped differently or different width/height and he fell back, hit his head on the floor. Ambulance called, trauma center checked him out. But he is fine. No concussion, just 10 staples in the back of his head. Oy!

I told him that he should be prepared, that my kids will be busting on him big time this weekend. I told him that my new nickname for him is Frank. As in Frankenstein. He has a big scar on his forehead from clocking himself on a treadmill, several small scars from catching fishing hooks in his scalp. Now this. I might have to get him some bolts as part of his b-day present, to go with his stitches and staples. hahahahha!!

Oh yeah-- today is his b-day. 77. That man does more at 77 then most people my age, I hope that I age like him. Although I guess that means I would have to"age in reverse."
:pound:

That is my novel-- truly a novel too!- for today.
I am laying low today, the only big thing I have to do is call healthcare.gov back and figure out WTH is going on. That is more than enough. I also have to keep and eye on my BP- it was all over the place again yesterday. 110/67 to 138/89 and lots of stops in between.

Hoping that all of you have a wonderful day!!!

Laurie- I saw some of your pictures on FB with the pretty leaves! Looks just lovely. Congrats on retiring!

Katja- no worries, pinkie toes are totally allowed. I blabber on and on because this is my outlet, b/c as you can see from that post up there ^^, I need to get a lot out. I have no idea if anyone really reads all of my blabberings, but it feels good to get it out of my head. Cheaper than therapy too. :D
Just post/chat about whatever you like- as little or as much as you like. This is a no stress zone :)
yes, I (used to) have a business, Faery-Wings Apothecary. I am a certified aromatherapist and make bath/body care/pet care products. I used to do a lot of craft fairs as well as some small online stuff, but I haven't been able to do much since we all got sick. Caitlyn talked me into a holiday show in Dec, and I am staring to make stuff for that. Whatever is leftover will be gifts for the fam. I cut the soap yesterday and it really smell good!! They don't look that good, tho. Might need to trim the edges a bit where it is a little crumbly looking.

4 pages! That is amazing!!!!!

Kat- hugs to you and your mom. I hope that the travel plans all fall into place for you so you can be there for her.
We live in an area of North New Jersey that everything is remote- if it takes less than 45 minutes to get there, it is like next door. I got spoiled growing up with 3 state/interstate within minutes, now it takes over 20 mins just to get out of town ;)

Katja! Wow, that is a long commute!!!! :faint:

Rae- hope that Taz is ok. So exciting to be working on all of your clients photos, you do such amazing work!

Trudy- so sorry to hear about your friend, but it sounds like he was remembered exactly as he wanted to be.
Is Mason over his cold yet? Hope that your little man is all better! When will you know about DS's transfer? *fingers and toes crossed that he will be close*

WTG Laurie!!!, lovely page!!

Kat- oh wow, that trip sounds absolutely brutal. But I would imagine that once you are back home, it is all worth it. Hope that it works out for you that you can spend time with family and friends and be able to do remote work too.

@Chris ... the story with your dad sounds so familiar ... a little while ago I get an call from my mum early Sunday morning, just saying "Dad fell yesterday evening. He hurt his leg." Turns out he fell down the stairs, he was almost at the top when he slipped back into the basement.
Luckily he didn't hit his head, but he scrapped his leg and knee on the steps on his way down. On one leg there was an open wound covering almost the whole bottom leg part. The day after he couldn't walk at all and he wheeled around the house on an office chair.
Go see a doctor ? No way !
Good thing that he has a nurse coming a couple of times a week to check and clean a drain he has so she dressed the leg too.
Thing like this so stress me out. They have no idea much this trows me for a loop.
Anyway, all is much better now and I'm glad to read that Frank ... euh your dad is going to be ok too.

Good thing we don't live closer, I'd come and buy all your aroma stuff. LOL

lOve the O!
Morning Chris and the rest of the O fam! It is a rainy day here and I have plenty of indoor sorting and organizing to do. I am only temporarily retiring- at least that is my plan. Just do not know what the next phase is. Hubby was going to call and give me a heads up when he would be home, and never did. Luckily I had dinner already for him. I asked him as he walked in the door- did he forget I was actually going to be home. Today I get to take him dinner at the farm as he will be working late there. I plan on getting out to the library today and perhaps grocery shopping to keep from going lack of people interaction crazy- that is why my retirement is only temporary. Oldest son and girlfriend are coming to visit this weekend and I want the house all beautiful for that- I work better with deadlines!

Tonight is yoga class ... ohm ohm ... but I'm feeling so tired. I think I'll take it easy or maybe my umph will come back once we get going.

So looking forward to the day off tomorrow (public holiday). :)
There is a bit of cleaning (a very little bit), some cooking and more scrapping on the planning.

And we're on the look out for a new tv ... a couple of weeks ago one horizontal line appeared. On Sunday, there were two. Yesterday evening when we switched it on, there were 4 and after about 15 minutes : a lot ! Luckily they are in the bottom 3rd of the screen but still now they are becoming annoying. So we'll be browsing the net to read up on reviews etc.

Good morning - The trial is over and I know now why it is called a trial. It was hard but we came to a unanimous verdict. We had great discussions, awesome back and froths so I really feel like we did our duty. I hope I am completely done with jury duty, never again. Woke up with a slight case of sniffles so today with the rain I am just going to recover and maybe read or scrap. Chris I remember you asked about what books I am reading well I have started a new series by a woman named Nevada Barr. Her protagonist is a National Park Ranger and all of the who did its are in National Parks. It is awesome as she so perfectly describes the Parks so you really want to go there. And she writes really well. Sunday my NJ Devils won another game in OT. It was awesome! Love watching them battle so hard! Tonight my team plays the St Louis Blues and it will be another tough game. It is military appreciation night. They are giving out camo hats so I can't wait to get one. Today for my son is a special day as it is the Marine Corps birthday, tomorrow Veterans Day and Friday his birthday. Always a special week for our family.

Chris poor Cait! Good luck with the iron pills they are big. It is no fun to be sick! Glad you got your soap made and love the name! Good luck with the US. I doubt most times that the health care people talk to the medicare people. It is sad!

Katja Hi and welcome to your pinkie toe. Good to have people visit! Sorry about your dad's fall and yes men do not go to doctors. Have fun at Yoga.

Laurie I thought I would miss all my colleagues when I retired and I do but I try to keep up with them. We have lunch a few times a year and I go birding with another. I love my alone time. Enjoy your scrapping time!

Trudy sorry about your friend. Glad to see the Bruins are improving! I watched the HHOF ceremony and I love how all most everyone has their poppy on. Remembrance Day or Veterans Days are really days to remember!

Kat sorry about the news from your Mom so hard when you are so far away. I was lucky as my sister lived in the same town so she handled these situations for our Mom. Good luck with the travel plans!

Have a great day all!

Aw Chris....hope your day gets better. Your optimism and humor starts my day with a smile. You are cheery even when having a bad day.

Nancy - I have read a few of her books too and like that author.

Taz is still periodically sneezing so we're keeping an eye on him for now. He doesn't seem to be any worse. It doesn't seem to be affecting his energy or eating.

I've got a busy day with work, chores and editing. My deadline for the wedding editing is less than two weeks so I need to bust my butt and get this done. I love shooting weddings but not the editing. I think I am going to focus more on family sessions/portraits than wedding work from here forward. I was disliking the long edit time more and more with each wedding I did this year. I think it's time to let that part of my biz go, except maybe the occasional small, short wedding that I can edit quicker.

So have a great day everyone and hope you find some scrappy time!

Morning ladies... OMG just popping in here as I did not wake up until almost 8:30!!! So now I have to get some breakfast and get to the pool soon. Sorry no time for personals this morning. Perhaps later on this afternoon I can get back in here again. Also need to get to the store and pick up a few things, not sure what will be opened tomorrow as it is Remembrance Day and really the shops should be closed out of respect!! Hope you all have a great Tuesday and that you do something today that makes you smile :becky:

Thanks for the well-wishes with my Mum. Nancy, my brother lives with my Mum, but even she admits that this really isn't his "thing". I'll be talking to my boss (the CEO) on Thursday to see what time I can get off - just need to talk to AT&T first to see if I can still set up my phone to be a hot-spot so I can get internet at Mum's - she uses her phone and tablet on the phone service ... no internet for anything else. I know I can do a US-based hot-spot ... just not sure if it will work the same way, internationally.

Sounds like everyone's having and up and down day. Can I join the party?! LOL In the past three weeks, I've had three coworkers come down with strep throat. Yesterday, itchy, scratchy dry throat. Um ... today, getting worse and felt like I'd swallowed golf balls. Oh yippee (not!), I've got strep throat. Home and quarantined for 24-48 hours until the meds kick in and stop me form being contagious. On the plus side, work from home - and do it in my jammies :) Of course, the dog was happy that her Mommy was home, too - even now, she hasn't left my side all afternoon and evening (can't even go pee without her following me just to make sure I don't go away again! LOL)

After the 21st birthday celebrations, work and getting sick, I'm finally getting around to some scrapping, which is much-needed therapy and an artistic release right now ... well, it's either that or I'll go play Candy Crush or something ;)

Hi everyone it is Wednesday here but just bobbing on here and will copy over once Wednesday is up. I have caught up with everyone's news. Kat so sorry to hear about your Mum, thinking of you as you plan your across the world trip to be beside her. Be careful with your throat, I remember how much trouble you had with it, was it last year or the one before, anyways take care

Chris can appreciate your panic 're the dressing, infection etc hope it is all ok now. Do you do lots of different flavours if that is
the right word of soaps, I used to sell children's books for Usborne at craft fairs and there was a soap stall there and it smelt heavenly.

Waving hi to everyone hope you all have a good day.

Robbie is on rest week, we went to Darlingoton and he spent his wage packet at HMV we had lunch out too. Tuesday was swimming, David came home early their hours have been cut down to minimum contract, so more time to spend together this week. He is building a unit/desk for the spare bedroom/ his workroom so guess he will be able to spend more time on it this week. Robbie and I are having builders breakfast-one of the advantages of living on a building site. A van comes at 9 with hot sandwiches and lunch bag essentials, as a special treat we have a bacon sandwich on one day of his rest week.
