Yesterday was Scott's birthday and today is my BFF's Birthday! (Like I have said, May/June are busy months here.) My due date for Scott was May 20, and I had hoped that I would have him on her birthday since she is his godmother. But, difficult child that he is, he decided to be born on the 21st. Oh well! They are close and that is what really matters.

Yesterday was kind of a crummy day. I was so exhausted. Puttered around a bit. The sun was calling me but I was in no shape to do any yard work so I went out with a book on my (dirty) patio and read for a bit.
Then my "dinner" plans got messed up. Cait was supposed to be babysitting and Scott was supposed to be working late. At the last minute, her job was canceled and he was home a little after 6. We could have had his birthday dinner after all. Again-- oh well, what can you do?
My mom gave him some money to go out for lunch at work for his day, and he didn't use it, so he and Cait used that money to go get Dunkin Donuts. Both of them were in their pajamas. They went to the drive-thru, and when the worker asked what she could get them, Scott said, "Can I get a dozen donuts?" Silence. Then- "Uhhhhhhh....." more silence. "Yeah. Ok."

He and Caitlyn were cracking up at that. Like the worker had to think about it? Haha!!!

Gary is making his onion and garlic pasta for Scott's "birthday" dinner tonight and I am going to pick up a cake when I am at the supermarket. Caitlyn was happy to give him her gift last night- a book called "Bad Taxidermy." It is full of examples of some terrifying taxidermy. Terrifying and hysterical. I am surprised that I didn't have nightmares. :scared: :pound:

Have a wonderful day!!

Yesterday:
Jean- that sounds very difficult for the family to have to deal with. Makes me think more about the fact that neither Gary or I have wills. we laugh because we have nothing to "gift" but I guess if anything happened to us, the family would have no real ideas of what we want to be done. I know that Gary wants to be cremated and I want to donate my body for Lyme research but that is all we have. I am glad that your family is at least able to move forward.

When Leah came into our lives she was only 15. To watch her over the last almost 6 years-- makes me so happy.

Nancy- Congrats to the Knights!!!

Felis- That is great news about Macho getting a good report from the vet. Whew! I hope that he transitions to an indoor only cat easily for you. W was a really bad girl and bolted out the door again. This is the third time in about 3 months. Any ideas on how to keep that from happening? She is so fast and doesn't listen when we call her name.

One thing that Arlene, Leah, and Scott are ok with is that her grandma is 94 and most likely will not be alive for wedding and kids. Scott already has said that he will have a Jewish wedding ceremony if that makes it easier for her family. I think he just wants to smash glasses and be lifted in the chair *winks* JK!!

Hugs to all of you! I will try to get to the weekend posts if I get some time later.
xoxo!

good morning - today is grey and showers are on the way. Then the rest of the week should be low 80s and mostly sunny! I can wait! Hockey was awesome last night as the Caps defeated the Lightning and so now on Wednesday there will be a game 7. And then no hockey until Monday when the Stanley Cup Final will finally start. I went to the grocery store and to the pet store both of which are not on my favorites list LOL. My DH decided to take a long weekend and while I was out he did some spring cleaning and deep cleaning - it was so nice. Poor Luther was not so happy and now today he is pretty barked out. Charles can get Luther to not bark and so can I but he does not listen to my DH and I think that is pretty funny. I made a nice simple tasty dinner - chicken on top of couscous with zucchini and sweet peppers and a nice lemon capper butter sauce. Tonight I am going for Tokyo beef rice bowls.

Chris I am glad you are recovering and since we should have rain just continue with the recovery. Happy birthday to Scott and to your BFF. I wanted my son to be born on the 13 as that is my oldest son's date too so then their dad would only have to remember the month but know he had to come a bit early. And he has been a hand full ever since. LOL. Have a great night and it sounds like last night was fun too! Wow I did not know it has been that long that Scott and Leah have been together. Congrats to them and to her on the graduation.

Felis that is such good news about Macho. I hope he learns to love the inside. I bet as long as you give him some outdoors time he will be happy! We used to take our cat outdoors on a leash and she loved it.

Waving to all.

Have a great day!

Morning ladies... What a busy long weekend we had! But the backyard is all tidy and neat and looks so pretty! It was worth all the hard work! I have to make this short and sweet as I am expecting Shaw our new internet provider to show up at any minute now. Hopefully we won't be off line for too long! It is a gorgeous day today so if I don't get to do my laps this morning, I think I will take a nice long walk in the sunshine.

Chris - Happy Be-lated birthday to your Scott and Happy Birthday to your BFF! You really are busy with birthdays etc for a few months aren't you! I hope everything works out and everyone is home for the birthday dinner tonight! Nice that your Gary is cooking and giving you the night off! I hope that you are feeling less tired soon and that you get to enjoy the sun in the coming days! It sounds like you enjoyed the graduation ceremony though! Oh drat they just called to say that they will be right over so I gotta go :bolt: Hope to get to catch up with everyone soon! :sorry: I won't even get to talk to Heather and Hunter now for a bit.

Hello girls,
we both are bad daughters because totally forgot that today is my parents wedding anniversary, before my mom to prepare festive table for dinner. Actually they don't celebrate it, because first mom is totally against the marriage. She always remind us her opinion that this is just a contract between husband who will bring at the house money so his wife to cook and clean for him. Around us don't have many happy marriages, most people are divorced or have this strange dysfunctional relationship of cold and invective as my parents. Another reason to not mentioned this date is because it was been the birth day of my granny (my mom's mother) and she miss us so much! So today is strange, sad and bitter day for us.

Chris, WAIT did I misunderstood this or your kids are drive car at pajamas? L O L, so freaking cool and brave! This spontaneous diner must have been funny. Looks like Scott has luck to have one unusual and spontaneous bday. About the possibility of Jewish wedding ceremony, it sounds very interesting, we have this with the glasses too, but without the chair. If isn't a problem for your family it will be very nice from his side to give Leah the chance this special day to be as her family always is imagine it! I hope her grandma to can see at least this, if she really don't have chance to wait to see their kids!
Hmm, no idea about W bolted out again, maybe Nancy can be more helpful at this! Tiny never left the room if the human did not cross the threshold before her, but we have her from baby. I'm still scared that some day B just will escape and we also watch out to not opened the front door till he is not on chain. I've been thinking in few cases that Whiskey maybe is yard dog, but in US you just don't have this practice and that's why her training is more difficult?!

Nancy, how nice from your husband side to take care for some spring cleaning at his free days. Haha, poor Luther, yes whole this fuss around deep cleaning can be upsetting for the pets. I definitely considering the possibility for cat on a leash, after you was mentioned this once before, but this is totally new practice for me and he is not much calm cat, so I'm not tried this yet.

Trudy, so good that you had so satisfied day and so much hard work is already done! Don't worry about us, even we will miss your posts these days, if you have limited time, better use it for Heather and the sweeties!

Rae and Jean  .

Good morning, ladies. The long wkend flew by. I got to spend some extra time with B so Jen could go home and have some quiet time to herself. B and I watched a bunch of movies. I made her chicken soup, muffins and put together an all-purpose spice blend to help entice her to eat more. Her appetite is waning. I also made sure I got out for a few long walks with Taz which he needed.

Jen and I talked a bit about making plans for her to move in before B might be ready to at some point. That way Jen can get settled and we can get used to all living together again before bringing B in. At this point we still don't know anything about B's limitations and if or when she will be ready to live outside the hospital setting. It will be a bit challenging as our home is an older home and only has one bath/shower with two other small bathrooms. Closet space and storage isn't great for us so with adding 2 more people it's going to be crazy to figure it all out but we'll make it work somehow. It's worth it to be cramped and maybe get rid of some stuff, so that the family can be together.

Chris - I laughed when I read about the kids going out in their jammies. I've done that before too :)

Trudy - hope you get in a nice long walk. I'm thinking I'll try to get out too later this afternoon with Taz for a hike.

Nancy - yum, lemon caper butter sauce sounds good. I was just thinking about getting capers. One of the recent recipes I saw on pinterest had them in it. I haven't much experience with using capers in dishes.

Felis - I forget important family dates too. I blame it on getting older :) I've come close to forgetting my own anniversary but it's not b/c I don't want to celebrate, it's just that I get busy and scatter brained so don't think of it. Luckily, I remember at the last minute.

I'm hoping to get a scrap page done this week. It's been too long. I miss it but since so much of my free time is spent at the hospital, I just can't seem to have time for it.
