Good morning, my lOvelies!!!
*big stretch*
I did it all wrong yesterday. I should have done my yoga last instead of first. I might not be quite as stiff this morning otherwise. :oops2: hahah!
I got most of my housework/laundry/food shopping order done pretty early. I hadn't had time to do any yoga in several days and I didn't want to get out of the habit so I did a nice back and shoulder routine. That part was fine. After lunch, Gary and I took the dogs on another hike. We took a new trail and had to do some water crossings. If you haven't hopped rocks with a stubborn-minded dog on a leash, you haven't lived :floorlaugh: The dogs were extremely excited to go through the streams -- however, my goal was to stay dry *G*
We did about 3 miles and because of the dogs, we go at a decent pace. I wish they would slow down, I like to stop and peek under the rocks, look in the puddles, and watch the birds. But they get wound up sniffing at everything and instead of making them walk at our pace like good dog walkers would do, we go faster. After that, I decided that I would plant the tomatoes and flowers that I got for Mother's Day. That was another hour and a half outside. I should have saved the yoga for after my shower and stretched everything out. Oh well. It is what it is and nothing that some Advil can't cure. (That would make a great new motto for me, eh? )

Today I am going to mulch everything that I planted yesterday. [Note to self: Yoga afterward]
I also am going to possibly have a houseful for dinner. Tom will be here for dinner. Scott's off a bit not sure if Sam is coming here. I am making roasted broccoli flatbreads so my plan is to double the flatbread recipe and then top half of them with the regular broccoli and lemon ricotta topping and the other half with a vegan option. I think I have vegan mozzarella shreds. That should be easy enough to adapt for whoever ends up here.

Tip for Tuesday
Does anyone have a good tip to share?
I can't think of anything, but I have a tip request -- this one's for you @bcgal00 :D
How do you keep your dogs from pulling on a leash? When she is wearing her halter which is currently broken, Whisky walks perfectly. I could probably unclip her leash and she would stay right next to me. Jaida, OTOH, is a mess. We have tried the Gentle lead halter (that's the one I prefer) and she is OK with that. Gary got her a harness that goes under her belly and over her back and she's much better than not using a halter/harness at all but she still pulls.
I'll take any tips or hints that you got.

Have a happy day!

@taxed4ever :rotfl: Your MIL would *hate* the way I garden. No plum lines for me, I wing it all. You are such a fabulous DIL to do all that hard work - especially in the heat. You look adorable in your hat too. I can't imagine how *stuffed* the pots of hostas were, were there a ton of babies to split in there too? Dahlias have to be dug up every fall IIRC? They are gorgeous but a lot to take care of.
And to top it all off, you had to do it all again in your own yard the next time. Ugh! (Who am I kidding... you know I would have been doing the same with you ♥)
Are you going to get on the lake today? Hope so!

@bcgal00 What movie did you see (sorry I can't remember if said or not)? Poor pups must miss you but you're right- they get used to it. I am glad that you are still resting when you need it. Feel better!

@LSlycord So nice to see you pop in! We are all here cheering you on! You got this!! Cait was *exhausted* when she got home last night. She'll be used to it quickly but it felt a lot longer than she is used to. She works remote today so she was able to stay in bed an extra hour.

@Cherylndesigns I love that island BTW-- even more when it is full of food  Tooo sweet of Ava and Braden to make it a surprise for you. Your MMM was a good one, did you do it and rest up??
My money is on "No, not really" :giggle4:

@vickyday have fun today with your girls!

Hey Chris!

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice regarding "tugging on the leash". I have 2 dachshunds...
I can't let them off the leash anyway - not in the woods and in the fields.
When I went on a small evening tour of the village with Michael during the curfew in the Corona period, I was surprised that a strange dachshund suddenly ran BETWEEN us. I was about to ask him where his owner was when I recognized our Anton!

We hadn't closed the patio door properly and the dachshund had followed us. 5 minutes later Paul also trotted behind us, not without sniffing the footpath all over the place. After the shock wore off, I was amazed at our dogs, how well-behaved they could run right in our midst on a sharp command. :yesmaster:

Well, that's only until another dog walks by or they get a mark in their nose.
Why am I actually writing this, I just wanted to say goodbye, tomorrow we are going on vacation back to our rented house on our island of Rügen. :cameraclick::beach1:
But I will definitely see how you are doing and what you have scrapped nice. There is certainly a photo for you during this time. Until then, we'll stay in touch and see you here in the forum anyway.
All the best and see you soon.

Sounds like chasing the dogs on your hikes gives you a good aerobic workout! :runningdog: :runningdog:
You could get someone to take a pic of you doing your yoga and use the motto on your scrapbook page, LOL!
Sorry, not tips for your dogs. Mark does not have to leash Piper, his doberman. However, Asher would have to be leashed, so he doesn't get to go into the woods! His domain is the yard only, LOL! You have to keep your eye on him, however, because he wanders with his nose down!

Turns out I'm not going to be with the girls today. Ilene is busy spring cleaning and then going to spend the week with her son north of us. That's OK. I really need to do some cleaning here, too......we will see if that actually happens, however!

Good Morning!
Looks like it is going to be a pretty day. Yesterday was cloudy most of the day. But I got lots of housework done AND scrapping to boot! And Mark and I went to lunch!
Today, I feel pretty lazy! Not sure but I might just scrap, listen to an audiobook, and maybe do some loads of laundry in between.
I have no Tip for Tuesday! Other than.......
Have a GREAT day!

Morning O-zies! It is another sunny warm morning, it is nice to see all the rowers on the Lake again today! Saturday they recovered the body of that poor man that was missing on the Lake. Finally some closure for his family, so sad for them!! :(
SIL Linda and I did get out on the lake in the afternoon for a short time, the wind picked up and it was getting pretty rough out there so we decided to cut our kayak session short. We finally have the carts all figured out and can make it all the way down to the dock without having to re-adjust anything. Hooray!! Sure makes it more enjoyable to not have to fuss with those darn carts! We have decided that the early morning is the best time to get out on the lake, its always so nice and calm first thing in the morning. So I might have to do some adjusting of my morning routines , like I have such a busy schedule :giggle4:. Today I am going to pick up my new glasses and run a few errands that never got done over the weekend. Hoping that my order of resin arrives today so I can get the turtle painting all covered and get it to its new home by the end of the week. Tomorrow is hike day and it is nearby and on the ocean, so that should be interesting! I actually finally got a page done yesterday and will get that posted this morning!

@faerywings - Sorry no advice on the leash pulling for your dogs. I bet my DIL Jackie could give you some tips, she was a great dog mommy and had Stormy so well trained for their walks/runs in the woods. How nice to have a house full for supper tonight! I can't wait until I have the same! What a good Mom you are for cooking for so many different diet choices! Hope that you don't feel stiff and sore this afternoon and yes good idea to stretch after all your work in the garden today! Any sign of your pet Toad yet?? The Rhodo's and Azalea's are all blooming here right now and it is so pretty in our gardens! I just love this time of year! Enjoy your dirt therapy today!

@Su_Sanne - Ok now I have to look up just exactly where this Island is that you are going to. Enjoy your vacation and soak up the sunshine and get lots of relaxation in! Lucky you!! Just looked up where it is and it looks absolutely beautiful there!! Have a wonderful time!:lovey3:

@vickyday - Too bad you won't be getting together with the gals today. Sounds like it will be a great day to scrap and do :laundry:. Or not, either way enjoy your day!

Alright I am off to the :showering:and then out the door to get my new glasses. Oh but first I have to upload my page I did yesterday. Have a wonderful day everyone! :waving1

Good morning Loves,

I'm up early for me - got a good night's sleep and boy was I tired last night. Chris @faerywings, I took it "pretty easy" yesterday. Haha you knew I wouldn't do NOTHING. I puttered around with my new plants and re-arranged some of the pots. Casey (well Sophie her dd) brought me the sweetest little indoor mum plant. I've never seen one with such tiny flowers. I'm sure she picked it our herself - she's Asher's age and they had SO much fun last summer when he was here for two weeks. Anyway, I had just happeed to buy the prettiest pot at Lowe's on Sun afternoon and I temporarily sat the mum plant down in that. I need to repot it. I also found a pot for my Cilantro plant - I'm going to keep a couple of them inside and put some outside, too. I have four of them being shipped from Amazon and they'll be here on Friday. I should have lots of Cilantro. Adrienne and Roger gave me the most awesome gift basket and I went through everything yesterday - there were beautiful tins of exotic teas. I cut open all the sealed bags and poured the teabags in each tin. I love tins of any kind. They also got me a chakra cleanser to hang in the window of my office. It's just beautiful. There was a sage cleansing bundle in there - when we got done looking at everything Sunday, Adrienne suggested I use the basket (it was pretty big) for a new dog toy basket. We have 4 dogs now digging through Daisy's toy basket and it was absolutely overflowing. We switched it out and it's just perfect for all of "their" toys. Aly got Adrienne and me each a live Orchid I think I told you that. I have flowers in so many of my window sills now.

From yesterday, because you know how my mind works. Yes, I'm almost done with my outside - I just need to tidy up. I was too tired to plant on Sunday and I knew we were going back out to dinner, so I've just been keeping things watered - they're sitting on my front porch. It rained yesterday, so I had an excuse to wait one more day. LOL I told Ava yesterday that I think I'm going to junk journal in my new sugar skull journal. I'm thrilled that Aly has adopted us and we just love her. She was groomed by her mother to be a prima ballerina her whole childhood - that includes half starving yourself to be teeny tiny so the men can lift you. She's still teeny tiny - now she has an eating disorder, which isn't uncommon with dancers. She danced with the Joffrey Ballet Company - that's HUGE and I about croaked when she told me that! That wasn't good enough for her mother - she had planned on Aly dancing with the New York Ballet Company - Joffrey wasn't good enough. When Aly rebelled, her mother turned her back on her. It's so sad. I would LOVE to meet her mother someday and tell her what a huge mistake she made.

Susanne @Su_Sanne have a wonderful get away. It sounds lovely and how funny about your dog getting out. Check in when you can. Waving to everybody and if you get a chance, check out the new Art Journaling Challenge for Week 3. I joined the AJ team and it was my turn to post a challenge. I hope you can play! Here's the link: https://oscraps.com/community/threa...families-come-in-many-shapes-and-sizes.37611/ That's my TFT.

XOXO

Good morning ladies. I still feel congested and really tired. It's hard to get through the day b/c all I want to do is lay down. I keep pushing myself to do some basic things b/c I need to build up my stamina again but it is so frustrating. I really would like to be out hiking and birding. I am missing getting photos of all the baby birds and ducks. I might try to get out at the end of the week for a short walk and see how that goes.

@faerywings We went to see The Bookclub: The Next Chapter. It was fun b/c it was set in Italy (where we are going in Oct) and the actors are fabulous but it wasn't quite as good as the first one. We did enjoy it though. As for dog walking, what I do with Remi is shorten the leash so she has to walk at my side. I set a pace and don't slow down for a few minutes. Then I stop, let her sniff and explore, and start walking again. If she pulls, I shorten the leash again and she has to walk at my side with no slack in the leash. The other thing I do is when she is (mostly) walking gently but gets excited and pulls, I stop, back up a few feet, wait and then go again. If she pulls, I repeat that. She figures out that pulling means we stop and back up so she slows down. I almost always put a halter on Remi which makes it easier to walk with a short lead.

The grass is growing nicely in the yard. I have been watering 3 times a day and the bonus is that it also waters the patio, so it gets the dogs' feet damp which cools them off. We've been in the 90's this past week.

Gotta get back outside and move the sprinkler to the other side and get more coffee. HAGD everyone.

I have trouble herding cats so I'm no good when it comes to dogs anymore. I lost my Irish Setter in 1993 and my heart has yet to allow me another.
I hope all of you are well. I can't believe another week has gone by. I popped in a couple months ago.. was here every day then spring hit and I'm rarely in the house when I get home from work. Tonight, I am in. We need rain and my eyes can't take all that dry, pollen wind.
Suanne, I hope you have a fabulous vacation.
I wish all of you a most fabulous evening. Your gatherings, your alone time, your yoga, your gardening... whatever brings you joy and peace I wish you that.

Well, I made the mistake of going to bed early and now, here I am in the middle of the night, wide awake. The doctor called from Mayo yesterday and gave me options for what tests to do next. I really like him. He is so kind and he does such a good job of taking time to explain everything. The week after we move, we will do a cat scan. I told Shaun and I started explaining the procedure and he looked at me like “are you kidding me” and then I said, “well, I guess you know all about those from last year” and he nodded. Then, depending on what they see (or don’t see), the next step is the heart cath. He said that they would make sure that I was pretty doped up so I wouldn’t care what they were doing.

@faerywings poor Cait. Switching to those longer days is hard until you get used to it. It will be good to replace the commute with sleep. The beauty of occasional remote work. Brian did a lot packing yesterday. We will make it but I appreciate the encouragement for sure.

@Su_Sanne your summer trip sounds lovely. I will need to look up the location on a map. I’ve never been there before. I laughed at the story about your dogs getting out and running between you on your walk. My daughter Sydney is now in Germany. She is having a very good time and is going to Berlin this weekend. They have a field trip to the Volkswagen plant before she comes home so I thought about you.

@vickyday your day sounds lovely…well not the cleaning but the scrapping and an audiobook. I hope it happens.

@taxed4ever the mornings on the lake with the kayak sound delightful. So peaceful. And your gardens sound beautiful. In love azaleas and rhododendrons. I bet it smells so good too.

@Cherylndesigns it sounds like you really made out for Mother’s Day. My basil is growing like crazy! I should probably split it but that will wait until we get moved. Also waiting until we get moved. Is cooking anything with fresh basil. #crazy-2I do think I should get some cilantro too. I love cilantro. Glad that my genetics don’t make it taste like soap.

@bcgal00 I can’t believe that you are still not feeling up to par. That thing has just really hung on hasn’t it? I definitely want to get to see The Book Club. I love those ladies. I am in awe of how they are all still working at their ages! Have you ever been to Italy? It is on my bucket list.

@Nonni F your house looks so lovely in all of that green. Hope you get some rain soon

Ok. I’m caught up for now. Think I’ll see if I can go back to sleep. #sleeping Otherwise tomorrow will be a really long day.
