How is my O-Fam today? Hope you all are great. I am *still* in a funk and it is making me crazy. I hate it. Too much stress....... grumble grumble......

After all of the tax stuff, plus the increase in my heath insurance premium, groceries and gas being so expensive...... I just don't know how I am going to make it.... My parents are getting a new car for my dad and are going to give hteir old one to Scott (aaahhhhhhh!!!!!!) He'll be 16 in May and god knows he/we won't be able to buy him one. I'd rather not buy a used "beater" but I know that even though the car he'll get form my parents will be old and high, they really take care of their cars. He'll need something if he ever wants to get a job next summer, as there is nothing walking/biking distance in my town. My point to this blabbering is that now we are going to have to insure the car.... NJ car insurance. Yay-rah :(

It will all work out, it always does. just need to freakout a bit, get it all out and move on.

Tip on Tuesday

Along the lines of saving money, I was telling my friend that for serious couponing that you have to get a good organizer. I spent $30 on mine but this week I spent $122 and saved $79. Last week I spent $160 but saved $120. Its ends uppaying for itself very quickly.

hugs and loves and green money vibes!!!

Morning O people!

Stopping by to check in on Tuesday. Somehow I lost Monday and not sure where that day went. Today my mom has a doctor appt. this morning so hopefully that will not be too long of a wait.............I'm hoping anyway!! Better take a book with me!

Chris-the prices on everything just keep rising. That is some amazing savings on the grocery bills for sure!

Have a great Tuesday!
Donna

Good morning Donna- good luck with your mom's appt. What are you reading? Last week I had to take Cait to the dentist for a filling. I was all set to sit and read in p&q for a while. She was done in 10 minutes, Man, I was bummed LOL

Linda S--hope you time with the tax man went better than mine. For some reason (heh) I didn't seem to mind as much if I knew I was getting a refund. This time really bit the big one ;)

Phyllis- snow today, 60 tomorrow? eek, that sounds like us here too. Scott said to me this morning, "Just think when I tell my kids how back in my day, there was snow in the winter. Santa would drive a sleigh...."
Good luck with TGFKA(Y)D. Maybe it won't be too bad? Maybe??

Laurie- good luck with your taxes too!

Trudy-- woot! You know there won't be snow now that you found boots, right? If you hadn't found boots- it would be a blizzard LOL Are you goign to have internet? Hope so!

Jacqueline I know you don't want to worry your hubby, but maybe it would feel good to tell him about your fears? Hugs~~

How did you do on Lovin' Monday Clara? About good as I did?? hahah!! I don't knopw how Sally does it!

Maureen--
but I value my ass more than my pride for sure
ROFL!!!!!
Truth!!
Hope you are having a fab vacation and enjoying your 2 weeks of quiet on the home front. I'm really glad that you were able to get off the mainlain USA and not have to deal with any issues.
Did your son leave for the Middle East yet? All of my thoughts are with him and all the troops to be safe and come home soon.

xoxo!

I got this link from a newsletter: http://tipnut.com/coupon-organizer-system/
Coupons aren't that big in Sweden. Saw a video on Youtube about a woman that was amazing, I'll see if I can find it again.

I'm happy today! Makes me scared ... LOL
DH got home from work yesterday with great news. PTL!!! He's been working at the library for a couple of years now. Because of his Asperger, he has this special kind of work, which - among other things - means that he only know from year to year that he can stay. Usually it's no problem, cuz since the most part of his wages are payed via the state (and not the city, who runs the library), they're happy to have him year after year. (He does the work, and they only have to pay like 25% of his wages.) Anyway - as of yesterday - his job is permanent! We don't have to spend every November/December worrying whether he has a job next yera anymore. This won't mean more money or anything, but it means more security - worth more than money these days!

Spring is here - ok - we still have snow, but it's melting away. And it smell of spring outside.

I'm in shock ... life is good
I'm sure something crappy will happen soon!

i'm trying to get my brain around today. as i write this, it's 20 degrees, the ground is covered with snow. i made a fire in the wood stove. later it's supposed to be sunny and in the 50s. well, i guess i'll just GO with it and see what happens....

Chris, they're starting to reign in what they're calling "extreme couponing" at some of the stores around here. i don't use coupons because i am sick of wrestling with millions of pieces of paper in my life. and i'm WAY too disorganized. i think all of us are in for some even harder times. you can't build a world economy on sand and expect it to all work out fine. i am SO against globalism. if we were all autonomous countries, like in the "old days," if our economy collapsed, it wouldn't take the entire world with it. i'm just sick about how things are. geez. i sound like an old lady!

Eva, just go with the good feelings. you know as well as i do that something goofy will happen soon enough! (i'm SUCH an optimist.)

Maureen, my mom was too proud (in her 80s) to wear one of those at first. but then, when my sister and i told her that she'd have to come live with one of us, that got her attention! it's funny the reaction people have to those things. i have a friend who, when she was single, was afraid to be alone because of a medical condition she has. i told her about my mom and that i will ABSOLUTELY get one of those things if i live long enough or if i ever need it. she was NOT happy with my suggestion. why IS that?

Laurie, hope you woke up feeling great. i actually got a decent night's sleep last night!

Trudy, are you on vacation? not working until the 18th should give you some time to unwind and have some fun!

Donna, good luck at the doctor's office. my method is iPad, earphones and Downton Abbey!

well, let's see how this day goes, eh?

phylis

good morning...need to get up and go get dressed so i can bring Helena's KINDERGARTEN paperwork up to the school.....all my babies are gonna be in school come August!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Good Morning "O" friends, I am off to the hairdresser this morning and then better get my suitcase packed and ready to go. Hope my new boots fit in my suitcase!! I really don't want to wear them on the plane LOL.

Chris - sorry that you did not have a great experience with the tax man, but you are in good company, neither did we  no vacation for us ! This trip that we are taking is courtesy of our son and daughter in law . We are taking the kids for 10 days so they felt they should pay for our flights, they have lots of airmiles so it really only cost them the taxes on the flights. Nice that your parents are suppling a car for your son, but I hear ya on the cost of insurance!! Perhaps if you only insure it for a few months at a time it won't feel so bad on the pocketbook?? Not sure how your insurance coverage works in the states?? to you my friend, I know you will make it work!!

Donna - Hope you found a great book to take along on your mother's appointment!

Phylis - Its really cold here today too, but I better get used to it. I wish that I was on vacation, but hubby and I are headed to Winnipeg to take care of the grandbabies for 10 days while they are in Europe. It is still very much Winter there with lots of snow on the ground! Oh well we will be very busy keeping the small ones occupied with fun things to do! Keep that stove stoked with lots of wood! :smow:

Eva - What wonderful news for your family, you are right security in a job is very important especially in these times!!

Kristy - Awww so sad that all of your babies will be in school, what will you do without them??

Well I better get my butt out the door or I will be late for my hairdresser, perhaps I will get my eyebrows done too. Hopefully I can get in here to leave some love in the gallery and do some scrapping myself before tomorrow. Have to get up at around 5:00am to catch the flight...Ugggh!!

Morning all

Looks like today is a continuation of last night's thunderstorm. :rain: No biking for Mr. Bicycle man today! I can happily read, and scrap...with an ocean view. I'm easily pleased. It actually reminds me of monsoon days in SE Asia.

A brief FB private message from my daughter today - just a one liner complaint. Not as bad as full page rants of course. Apparently a blocked person can still send you private messages. :tape2: it is typical though...I hate you, don't leave me (or keep me out of your life...) which I accept but it's tiring. Push pull push pull. No word on whether the first born has left for Afghanistan or not yet. I emailed them this am. I do so hope this is a short trip....

Chris, my grandson has to pay for his own insurance which is of course really high. He didn't get the car til his Jr. year (17) and he has been able to do a lot of work where they live. There are a lot of VERY well to do neighborhoods near them and he actually does bartending for private parties! Teenage insurance is out of the ballpark.

Donna…days can just go by like that can't they! Hope all goes well for Mom.

Eva - What a relief that job permanence must be! All of my last 20 yrs working for politicians meant I was dependent on the Senator's desire to have me. NO job assurance and no reason for dismissal was needed. Fortunately I stayed in both of their good graces but it was worrisome at first.

Phylis, I'm with you on the coupons. Mostly I don't use them any more because I don't buy that many processed foods or things that coupons tend to be for. The dentist gives us tooth paste and I have enough toiletries to last a loooong time.

Kristy, think of August as the start to a new busier life for you!

Trudy, no I don't think boots are great for flying! In addition to the compression while sitting in tight quarters, there is the issue of trying to get them off for security checks. I watched a bunch of women nearly falling over into the baggage conveyer belt while struggling to get boots off. It was ludicrous! Hope you have a nice 10 day - children and snow? sounds like fun even if there is the 5am (UGH!) price to pay!

Maybe another challenge for me today!
