The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Hold onto your hats if you live on the East Coast! The wind is *whipping!* Everybody's wind chimes are having a grand time waking humans up at 3 am :)

We are back to the reality of school schedules today. Scott started yesterday after a week off and Cait today after a long weekend.I am back to the grind of food shopping. It should be fun (not) since I am in so much pain. Tindamax aka abx from Hell? Changes in weather? Old age? Not sure about the cause, but man, oh man... not a good morning.

Scott got his tickets in the mail yesterday and decided to just pay the fines. One of for being in a Closed area, the other was for Mutilating a Plant/Tree. The first he would have fought, the second he knew that he was 100% in the wrong. When he was sitting near the mine hole where the kid died, he felt really bad. His body is still in that shaft. He was carving RIP on a tree. Reeeeeallly Stupid. He gets that, but felt that there should be a marker to respect that. And then get this, my kid is bizarre. heh. The fine gets paid to our Township and he said that it needs all the money it can get. For real! If the money needed to be paid to the county or state, he would have been more likely to fight it. Wacky kid!!!

Not much else here. I have to decide when I get home from food shopping if I want to try to get some Faery-Wings stuff made. Cait and her friends want more of the coffee butter scrub but I have to climb into the attic to get the jars. As of this very moment, I want to wrap myself up into a cocoon and hide all day. Ever feel like that?

hugs to all!!!

Today:
It’s National Lemon Chiffon Cake Day! An insurance salesman named Harry Baker invented chiffon cake in the 1920s. He sold his cakes to the Brown Derby restaurant in Los Angeles and all of Hollywood fell in love with the dessert’s lighter-than-air texture. Baker carefully guarded the recipe for over twenty years before selling it to General Mills (home of the Betty Crocker brand) for an undisclosed amount.
The recipe for chiffon cake debuted in a 1948 edition of Better Homes and Gardens. General Mills marketed it as “the first new cake in 100 years” and it quickly became a nationwide sensation. The secret recipe called for vegetable oil instead of butter or shortening, and instructed the baker to beat the egg whites and egg yolks separately.
There are many flavors of chiffon cake including chocolate, orange, walnut, maple, and today’s reason to celebrate, lemon! To celebrate National Lemon Chiffon Cake Day, try baking a delicious lemon chiffon cake for your family tonight!
I am not a fan of chiffon or angel food cakes, are you?
For me, give me a fudgy cake or tiramisu any day :)

From Monday:

Is it so nice to have Kat back with us, she adds so much chatter to the thread :)

Kat- i hope that the allergies don't get too bad for you. How long do the cherry blossoms last?

Nancy- soooo cold!!!! It is just "in your bones" damp.
Ack about Luther getting off of his leash. I wonder is Spring Fever hits dogs too. Sunday, Jaida ran past Scott out of the house, and took off down the street. Thank God she had her collar on, or he would never have been able to grab her. She is FAST!! It is terrifying so see them run off like that. Is Luther chipped? J was done when we got her, but still, I worry about cars. Once they get the scent of something, Stay, Sit, Come-- they don't seem to even register. :(
Do any of you have advise on that?
Hope that your Devils end the season with good wins!
Cait has break the second week of April.

Rae- you are such an amazing person and Aunt! Bailey is going to love all of that. And such a fab bonding with you too, and hopefully a positive outlet. It might be really fun for her to hunt down freebies too.
If she likes edgy kinds of themes, Annika von Holt (I think that is her name, I can look it up for you) has some *amazing* free brushes.

Kat- hope it is just jket lag leaving you all at once and not a cold. Feel better!

xoxoxo

good morning - just got back from a quick walk with Luther. It is so windy out. The wind just makes me walk fast. I think Luther and I did the walk in record time. My son and I are still CIZEing. It is too funny to see me try and learn these dance moves but it sure is a good way to get the day started and it is good that he is up and moving. He needs to be exercising since he has a desk job. My DIL and I will be heading south tomorrow to Gettysburg and Antietam for a quick ON trip. I am hoping that spring will really be popping as we get more south. I love going on the historical trips and she does too. I hope to take lots of photos. My girlfriend's daughter is going to walk Luther once each mid day so that is cool and makes his life much better. Then must start laundry and do some cleaning around the house. But first before trip tonight I have a Devils home game. These last games are against teams we had won against all year so not sure what to expect today.

Chris so sorry you are in such pain! I feel the pain when it comes to getting ready to food shop. I don't know why it bothers me so much LOL. If I were super wealthy I would have a cook for sure! So funny about Scott's reaction to the tickets. Rather grown up to realize that he has to pay the consequences even if what he did was for the correct reason! Good job mom!

Kat good to see that jet lap has not taken away your sense of humor! Hope you feel better today and it was just jet lag on steroids! So fun to blast the heat in a car when you are cold. I know in my car my DIL likes cold and since I have my heated leather seats it is awesome I can stay warm while she is chill.

Rae so awesome how everyone can multitask! TV and edit or in my case TV and scrap. Though watching hockey and scrapping is not that easy LOL. Good thing for instant replays.

Trudy waving hi!

And no I don't like angel food cake or chiffon at all.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. Busy day ahead for me. Work, walking Taz and Ava, and then a doctor's appt later this afternoon, then home again to work and hopefully finish up for a late dinner. I'm meeting a new doctor today and hope that I like her more than the other one I found in January. Enjoyed just lazing around last night with Taz and my hubs, watching TV. I think the sun is supposed to be out all week so am going to enjoy the dog walks every day. We have lots of extra ham left over from Easter, used some for an egg scramble last night and tonight will make grilled cheese with ham for dinner with tomato soup. Simple meal but I love it. One of the things I want to try soon is homemade tomato soup, never done it before.

Chris - sorry to hear today is a bad day, hope you feel better as the day goes on. Scott taking responsibility for his actions is a good thing, although its too bad the ranger guy gets away with being an a**hole.

Kat - yes, good you are back! Hope you are feeling better today.

Nancy - Enjoy your upcoming mini trip. How nice that your friend's DD will walk Luther while you're away.

I can't tell you how nice it feels to have the sunshine coming thru the window as I sit in my office. I love starting out the day like this. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

BTW....I'm not a fan of angel food cake but it is one of my hubs' faves.

Morning ladies... Sorry I have been so absent from here, but hubs kept me very busy all long weekend!! We hauled more mulch yesterday and with the weather being so nice yesterday, we stayed outside all day!! Got the gardens looking spiffy and power washed the back sidewalk and deck. We also moved a huge Rhodo onto the side hill where it will be much happier and get more sun. Everything is almost done, still some more power washing to do as the railings on the decks get so yucky and green from all the rain. We had a great dinner with Brother and SIL and the turkey was delicious so today I am making soup and turkey pie. SIL also got me interested in joining her hiking club they hike every Wednesday starting in April and its only $15 a year for membership with no pressure to go on all the hikes. So I think that I will probably join in!! I hope to get back to my swimming again also, I have been so bad for not going since coming back from Alberta and my stint of watching the grands. It will be good to be more active for sure and now that DH has found out that he has OsteoArthritis in his knee, he is really not able to go for long hikes anymore

Chris - So to catch up with your question about the cost of the re-do of my furniture... The cottage paint cost me about $35.00 for a larger can of paint, but I ran out so had to buy a smaller jar too, but you would not have to do that if you don't have a hutch to paint. Then I used minwax two in one stain (gloss) colour called espresso and that was a large jar that cost about $17.00 but you would not have to buy a large on either if all you have is a table. Just a light sanding on the table top if you are doing a stain, but if you decide to just paint the table top and bottom then no sanding is required. Just a good cleaning with TSP or something similar to get the wax and grease or stains off of the table and chairs. Oh and I also had to buy an umber glaze from the cottage paint to give it the antique look and to seal it. That was another $17.00 or $18.00 but it could be much less where you live as things tend to be much more expensive here in Canada. Too bad that Scott got stuck having to pay the fines, but I guess the one was understandable, you can't go carving up trees LOL. He is a very caring young man though!! Hoping that your aches and pains go away today! I hate the thought of grocery shopping also, it is such a PITA and I wish we did not have to eat, we would have so much more time for other fun things!! Feel better my friend!!

Nancy - I guess your Devils are playing our Bruins tonight!! Hope you enjoy the game! How fun that you are getting in a great workout with your Son!! Sounds like a fun trip with your DIL hope that you get to see lots of spring flowers and that the wind dies down for you!! I can't imagine how you can scrap and watch hockey at the same time, I would be throwing my laptop on the floor with excitement if my team scored a big goal!! :becky:

Rae - Hope you like your new Doctor!! So great when you find just the right one! Enjoy your walks in the sunshine, it seems like it will be nice for the next few days!! Hooray!!

Kat - Welcome home, but I sure hope that you have not caught some notorious bug from your flight home!! Darn jet lag is so hard to get over they say drinking lots of water helps a lot! Hope your drive home warmed you up and that you are feeling better today!!

I am going to enjoy my lunch on the deck today, the sunshine is warm and nice to see after all the rain we have had! Not much happening for me today except for catching up here and perhaps working on a new multi-designer Header for the challenge team our old one is very out of date! Have a great Tuesday everyone!!

Oh and did someone mention CAKE? I love cake any kind any flavour!! :hungry:

Chris, sorry you're having such a rough day. My friend, who has Lyme, has her good days and bad ones ... and when the latter comes around, she's pretty miserable, aching from head to toe. :(

Thanks, everyone, for the well-wishes with the jetlag. By the time I got home yesterday, I was shaking like a leaf and that didn't stop until nearly midnight - after I had crawled into bed with a down comforter AND two fleece blankets on me. Bill thinks I likely had a fever. Grrrrreeeat. Just one night of good sleep ... that's all I ask - and preferably "real" sleep, not sleep by way of exhaustion! LOL

Rae, I've never been too brave about making my own soups - do you have a recipe in mind for the tomato one? I love a curried pumpkin soup that I make, usually around Thanksgiving. It's really simple: pureed pumpkin, curry powder, a little water (to loosen up the consistency), and swirl a little heavy cream through.
