Oscraps

Daily Ooo's Tuesday, June 30

Clara - we are at Fort Bragg. I would LOVE to be at Lewis, it's my first choice of a station, (wellll, tied between there and Germany again) but we've never been. Vince has been in for 9 years, and has decided it makes sense to go ahead and retire. He really hated it at first, but then I got pregnant with Atha so he stayed in. Then he re-upped again because he thought we could get posted at Lewis, and they sent us to Kansas instead. Silly Army! This last time, he was really wanting to get out, but the economy is so bad that we decided it makes sense to stick with a job that can't really fire you, kwim? After watching our whole family lose 401k's and have to decide whether or not to pay for food or their kids' heart medicine etc. At least here in the Army we know we have a place to live and health care, and that means a lot!!

Cornelia- Ansbach is also in Bavaria. We were about 1/2 hours drive from Rothenburg, if that helps. It's between Wuertzburg and Nurnberg. I just loved it there! Loved getting a Doner Kebap! Yummy!

TAli - Granit City baby! The mug club membership is $20 and the food there is fabulous. I think there is another mug club event July 13th!

@Linda: thanks for the link, great designs, like your style

@mrsaboyer: oh now I know it, I know Nürnberg and Würzburg, not so far away, maybe 2 hours. lol Döner Kepap yeah its yummy LOL but its not typical german its turkey; typical german you need a Münchner Weißwurst  maybe you ate one

puh im tired now; Im so glad Amelie fell asleep after crying the whole time, hopefully for one hour or more, dont know whats wrong, but my mom said maybe shes getting her teeth.

Cornelia - Landstuhl is not the only medical facility in Europe, just the largest. There are a lot of smaller clinics. Unfortunately my husband has a job that is only available in a hospital. I'll tell you...Europeans know how to vacation. A month off at the end of summer and they always go someplace. I love the whole work to live mentality compared to the live to work mentality of the US. Everyone here tends to be so busy working they forget to live. I didn't realize you were just doing a weekend trip with family. I agree, not at all the same as an actual vacation. I hope you have a good time regardless. Congrats on your 100th post.

Andrea - Ft. Bragg, huh? I have to say that is my biggest fear staying in the Army. It is hot and muggy and covered in military. That is one of the reasons I have always loved it hear...there is a lot of military but it is not all military. DH had the same issue with reenlisting as your dh. It ripped his heart out to decide to reenlist, but he did it. You missed the whole saga a few weeks ago. He tried to get a GS job and didn't get it leaving him without a job and less than 3 months in. Then he wasn't eligible to reup because he had been in too long to not be promotable. So now he has extended so that he can get promotable. We have until 2011 to reup, which gives us some stability, which is nice since we are out of reenlistment options. I hope you guys find a way to get to Lewis. I am from here but it is a pretty good duty station. There are a lot of deployments from here though. What does your dh do? My dh is a nuclear medicine tech at Madigan, although he works as an MRI tech. But being a nuc med tech makes him non-deployable...of course until he gets promoted. We'll see what happens for the next 6 years. If we are really lucky Obama will reinstate early retirement and he can get out at 18. That would be so awesome. We'll see what happens. I would love to get another tour in Italy. We weren't connected to the 173rd so he didn't go to the field or get deployed. We loved it. I always tell people to be careful what they wish for when they say they want to go to Vicenza, Italy because they deploy every other year now and before that they would still spend nearly 6 months in the field. Not all spouses could handle that and there was a lot of cheating. I'm sure you see a lot of that in Bragg. Vicenza was basically little Bragg. How much longer do you think you guys will be there? I know what you mean about the medical benefits. I kept trying to explain it to dh but he didn't get it. As a retiree you pay not quite $500 a year and have no copays or deductibles. You can't beat that. He tries to say that Tricare sucks, but we get seen off post and owe nothing. I pay $3 for generic and $9 for name brand meds. And if I weren't lazy and filled them on post they would be free. You definately can't beat that. Where are you from??

I'm checking in real quick to let everyone know I'm alive, LOL! I'm feeling better, physically, thank goodness. I'm really down in it though about the car/financial thing. I know it'll all work out in the end, but the next few days are going to suck. Today was the day they said I had to pay that $137 by hahaha, or else. Well, of course, the money tree didn't materialize....soooooooo. Guess we'll see if I walk to work/home tomorrow? I told them over and over and over I'd pay that and a payment this weekend. Grrrrr. I am in such a funk. Can ya tell? hehehe
ok, back to reading the dailys :)

:) Hey ladies. Quickie from me. Eric was home today and I spent most of my day hiding out in our office (in the basement, away from sunlight!!) on our desktop computer, going through photos. I haven't printed photos for the kids' albums since October 2007 so I'm trying to get caught up. My mom prompted me - she is loving some of my recent photos and she wants copies, so, I figured I might as well put in a big order. Really, really big. :)

My headache is still here, hating on me in the worst way. I'm considering visiting a chiropractor just to see if that would help. I'll try just about anything at this point. It is becoming obvious to my kids even - tonight Ella prayed that my headache would go away. Sweet little nugget.

Well, that's all for now. Gotta get back to the photos. I'm up to January of this year so I'm doing really well! :)

Much love to my O ladies.
