How are all of you on the West Coast/PNW holding up? I have been reading so many of the social media posts about how hot it is in the Portland and Seattle areas. I am sure that it has to be just as bad for @taxed4ever and @bcgal00 . It is frightening how we are going to keep cooking this planet until everything is black and charred and Mother Nature just tosses us off. How is that for a bit of gloom and doom?
It was hot yesterday and going to be hot again today-- right now it is 76* with -- get this-- 79% humidity. Blech. I was outside in the yard for almost two hours again yesterday, spraying the whiteflies who thought they would show their annoyance by dive-bombing me. Ladybugs are very expensive to have shipped and I don't know of anywhere locally that has them so I asked my local gardening FB group for suggestions. I was told to make a mixture of water, dish soap, and baking soda and spray that on the plants.
Meanwhile, I was having a blast talking to some little tiny toads- smaller than a penny- i had to be very careful where I walked. I also grabbed my work gloves out of the packet in my garden tool back- when I did, a toad popped out with them, got a picture of him looking very grumpy.

I also was surprised by a frog who was hiding under some of the rocks by the pond. When I tried to get a pic of him, he scrambled farther under the rocks. He had super-bright brown and gold markings and a yellow stripe on his belly. I will keep looking for him.

I also got a bunch of stuff done in the morning that I had been putting off- a check-up with my GP and an eye exam/contact fitting.
I still need to make an appt with a GYN/mammo but let me take a breather first :p

I am cleaning this morning and then will need to figure out what to make for dinner. Gary made us egg sandwiches last night since no one wanted to be in the kitchen too long.

Have a great day, stay cool and hydrated!

I did a tiny bit of research and found a fun website: The Frog Lady
I think I saw a pickerel frog.

@tanteva pfft! Your mom looks like a fun lady!
What did Urban think of the wine "glasses?" My FIL is like that and probably hates the way I drink wine. ;)
What a mess your govt is ATM, I really hope that it doesn't take long to form a new (*fingers crossed for a better one*) govt.
Chris use to tell us she's cranky .... I'm way past that .... LOL

*crawling back under my rock* *muttering*
If you see my frog-friend whom I am now calling Picki, tell him I said hi and watch out for the garter snake that hangs around my yard. Seriously-- feel better and I hope that you aren't cranky today, and if you are, we are all here for you
BTW- that video is toooooooooooooo much!!!!

@Cherylndesigns It is nice when it rains at the end of the day so you don't have to water your plants. Did the rain cool everything off a bit?
Great news that you are feeling well enough to get a walk with Daisy- are you "back to normal?
Enjoy your chicken salad for dinner- sounds good!

xoxo

good morning - yesterday was a total rest day as our visitor is gone and my DH is back at work. Poor guy. He has this horrible rash all over his fore arms. He must have come in contact with something in the woods while walking Luther. I gave him benadryl and I think that helped. We had a great time at the BBQ at my son's. He made bison burgers, elk sausage and wild boar sausage on the grill. But he knows his mother and I got a beef burger. He says in NJ all the "wild game" have to be farm raised so the meat meets certain standards. Does not matter my mind says I just cant eat it. But every one else was super happy. Had fun scrapping while watching the Tour de France. But whoa there were so many crashes, which is why I like to bike with no one around. Then in the evening was watching the Stanley Cup Final game one. It was a good game. So funny the Prime Minister of Canada and the President of the US have decided to bet to see which country wins. The weather is the hazy, hot and humid. Luther is spending a lot of time in the basement. He goes out in the am but walks so slow. I have to grocery shop today and I am not looking forward to it. Also no longer have to wear a mask in the store. So that seems back to normal. Yea.

@faerywings Chris this weather is a bit much. Glad you could get out in it. I am staying in! Hope your natural bug spray works. And yes I feel the same about the heat and ruining the planet. It takes a concerted effort by all and I don't see that happening.

@tanteva Eva I loved your family tree page. It was awesome. And the video was pretty funny!

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl glad you got out for a walk between rain drops. I am sure it was nice having the visit. And yea you do not have to water the plants.

Waving to all!

Morning, all. Woke up to a wonderful cool morning - 62*. It rained early this AM - looks like we got about 1" of rain. Still cloudy and may get more rain. Doesn't bother me at all... so glad to have it and the cooler weather. I took advantage of yesterday's coolness and made meat loaf. Oh... it was so good. Had pecan praline topped sweet potato casserole and cole slaw with it for supper. Have a bunch of servings in the freezer now so can enjoy it even when the weather turns hot again. I love the pecan praline topped sweet potato casserole that I got from the commissary. They only have it occasionally so bought a couple of packages the last time I was there. I need to get some more apples and/or cans of peaches so I can make some cobbler while the cool weather is still here.

Had a wonderful video visit with DD#2 and DD#3 yesterday afternoon. We talked for over an hour and got caught up on what was happening with them. Still getting used to the change of day for our chats but think it is working better than the Sunday chat time.

Got my mammo appointment made yesterday. Was surprised that they offered openings so quickly. So set up for July 14th. The other good news is that the pneumonia shot didn't cause any reaction - just a slightly sore arm.

Chris, sounds like you are having fun with the frogs. I had a close encounter with a tiny frog many years ago. I was about 6 months pregnant with my youngest daughter at the time. I was in the shower with shampoo in my hair when this tiny frog jumped from the slider rail and hit my leg. Well.... I came out the shower - streaming shampoo and water everywhere - while screaming for Bill to help. Every time I think for tiny frogs - I remember my close encounter and laugh. BTW, I have used that recipe for spray for aphids. It works well on a lot of pests in the garden.

Nancy, glad to see you back again. I agree with you... don't care for 'wild' meat either. Give me beef instead as I don't like the 'gamey' taste to the others - no matter where they are raised. Sounds like it was a fun get-together. Yes, I saw videos of the horrible crashes during the Tour de France. So many cyclists were hurt.

Cheryl, I like the sign you found... perfect size for hanging over your door. Sounds like you and Adrienne are queens of the hunt at the Antique stores.

Eva.... I cracked up over your comment about looking like you mom! I like the LO you did with the family tree.

Well, time to get dressed and get started on a few chores. CYL

Not going to say anything about my mom - let's keep this positive.

Or ... I've been following the news all day - not easy to be positive then. My idea now is that we should send a bunch of kindergarten teachers to the Parliament and help sort out this crap. I'm sure they are used to help sort silly stuff like this out. Same maturity level any roads.

Ok ... have you seen Simplette's new kit?!!? I think I gained 12 pounds by just looking at the preview! LOL YUMMY!

Hot here today - but it's starting to look grey. They've warned for thunder later this afternoon, so I really should hurry to post the layout I've made. Might have to turn everything off soon.

Good morning ladies. Been in and out with the dogs, the temps are cooling off a bit now for the rest of the week, only in the 90's not the 100's. yesterday it was 129° on my covered back porch so out in the yard it was closer to 135 I'd say. The basement doorknob burned my hand as I tried to open it. Luckily I had just touched lightly not grabbed and I just put some cold water on it and no blister. The dogs were let out in the yard for 2-3 minutes at a time only, I was worried about them burning the pads of their paws, especially Remi as here's are bigger than Taz's. We all survived and now can look forward to slightly cooler temps.

Tons of work for me this week which is good b/c Thurs is a holiday and Friday will be a light workday I think, so extra work now is a good thing. Getting another coffee and getting back to work. BFN

I'm in The Zone ~ The "O" Zone
CHEERY O
Hello all! I've been doing "housekeeping" today on my computer. I've been locked out of Pinterest for quite awhile and finally dedicated myself to getting that straightened out today. I have 2 different accounts and somehow they'd gotten mixed. I'm so relieved that I got that figured out. It was my own fault, but I just had to get to the bottom of it. Then, I spent some time uploading my LO's from here to my Pinterest board. I'm WAY behind, but it was a good start.

All those things take time and I guess I just have to be in the mood to tackle them. I'm going to cut this short today. We have a bunch of chicken breasts (cooked) that we have to cut up for our chicken salad. Chuck found a recipe he wanted to use online (yesterday) and he can't find it. I really don't think we need a recipe, but he loves to experiment. We're putting apples, raisins, slivered almonds in it, I'm not sure what else he got at the grocery this morning.

Hope everybody is well. If you're in the hot zones, try to stay cool. Waving to all.

Well ... sunshine ... yesterday was ending even better with Sweden losing their round of 16 game, hence no more UEFA Euro 2020 for us. Was a bit angry - didn't get to bed until 1.30 am. Before 6 am Discord thought it was good that we had a talk. He loves to "talk" to me - he meows and wants we to reply - we can go on forever ... not at 6 am though. When I finally got him to stop and go to sleep ... Mårten came and wants to cuddle. And when he wants to cuddle - he WANTS TO CUDDLE. Flops his bit fat body onto you face and demands attention. Finally got him to give up ...... and then hubby's alarm goes off and he snoozez and start to snore.

Gave up ... 5 hrs sleep will have to be enough ... gee ... I'm tired. LOL
