Hello and welcome to a Tuesday that feels like a Wednesday to me.
I have my grocery pick-up set for this morning because I need some items for our theme night tonight. I usually have that set for Wed, hence my day-date confusion. It's not raining ATM so maybe I'll luck out as I pop in and out of the stores.
Lunch with my parents was a *huge* success. I told them all I wanted for my bday was for them not to bicker. And they did it! Who knew it was possible? heh. I even teased them as I was walking out the door-- I gave them a 3,2,1 countdown and told them to have at it. yeah, I am still a bratty daughter. LOL Lunch was delish! I got an asparagus risotto with seared scallops and it was to die for. So good. And I got my glass of Pinot, which my dad and I were laughing about. $18 for a glass of wine. My boxed wine is $22 and it's three bottles . And sure, it was nice but even the "good" brand of wine I like, Tosca Pinot Grigio ($12), doesn't taste that different than the fancy stuff I had yesterday.
Scott didn't think he was going to be home for dinner but was able to rearrange his schedule and was there. The fam gave me the best and most thoughtful gifts this year. They always do but this year it seemed like everything meshed together perfectly. Caitlyn got me some summery nail polish and a really cool plant propagation stand. It's a wooden stand with three little test tube-like bottles for the clippings. Gary got me a small pair of binoculars to take hiking. Scott got me a brand new backpack stuffed full of hiking supplies for Gary and me. First Aid kit, ponchos, bug spray, thermal blanket, etc. Now I just need the rain to stop so we can get back out there.
Today will be pretty busy in the kitchen. Since I didn't think the family would be together yesterday, I asked for a family dinner tonight. Sam and Tom are off on Tuesdays so they are coming here too. Scott had said that he wanted us to watch the new Puss in Boots movie so we are renting that and I am preparing a low-key theme night. Scott and Sam are making empanadas, and I am making yellow rice, trempo (Spanish tomato and bell pepper salad), and a vegan tres leches cake. I have the menu/food tags/drinks started in PS so I'll finish them up and print them out later today. It's very low-key for us but perfect for a weekday. We still want to have a full-out theme night over the summer, just need to look at dates and themes.
You all know me, just having the family together is all I need ♥
Tip for Tuesday:
Do any of you have suggestions on what kind of plants I can water-propagate? I don't have a green thumb for indoor plants at all but I want to give it a shot. TIA!
Hugs!
