Good morning!
The family has successfully returned from the luau experience.
I spent the majority of my day in the kitchen and in the bathroom. No, no-- my stomach was fine. I was replacing Band-Aids on my finger that I sliced open. One of the very first things that I did was open a can of pineapple and tossed into the recycling bucket. The next thing I did was put a jar into the bucket and sliced my finger on the can lid. Damn finger wouldn't stop bleeding for an hour and a half. I probably should have gone to Urgent Care for some glue but I had food to cook! hahaha!! I reopened ita bunch of times but I think by now I should be ok. I was asking Gary how to best care for it since he (and Scott and his dad and his grandpa and his brother) have all cut bits and pieces and sadly an entire finger for my BIL -reattached successfully!- off. He is an expert! tee-hee!!
But in spite of that distraction, we cooked some really good food. I made a loaf of Hawaiian bread in the machine, then filled it with a cheese and fake bacon dip which went into the oven. We dipped frozen pineapple chunks in chocolate, a sweet pineapple dip with nilla wafers, and Dole Whip. Caitlyn made a really delicious pineapple salad- it was spring mix with pecans, pineapple bits, and fake bacon with a pineapple vinaigrette. My favorite part was the Hawaiian fried rice. Basic fried rice but with red pepper, pineapple, and fresh ginger. Drinks were pina coladas and blue Hawaiians. Yum!!!
We watched Moana and the guys even wore "beachy" shirts which were a fun surprise!
Today is the cleanup. The kitchen is a mess!! :fear: We cleaned as we cooked but there were still a lot of dishes.
I also have to vacuum before we put the AC on or I will trip the circuits. Gary is melting the heat and I am throwing blankets on. SMH!
I haven't done gratitudes in a bit so here we go!
-family shenanigans
-sunshine
-making good memories in sprite of the crud happening around us
