The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Good morning!
The family has successfully returned from the luau experience. :D
I spent the majority of my day in the kitchen and in the bathroom. No, no-- my stomach was fine. I was replacing Band-Aids on my finger that I sliced open. One of the very first things that I did was open a can of pineapple and tossed into the recycling bucket. The next thing I did was put a jar into the bucket and sliced my finger on the can lid. Damn finger wouldn't stop bleeding for an hour and a half. I probably should have gone to Urgent Care for some glue but I had food to cook! hahaha!! I reopened ita bunch of times but I think by now I should be ok. I was asking Gary how to best care for it since he (and Scott and his dad and his grandpa and his brother) have all cut bits and pieces and sadly an entire finger for my BIL -reattached successfully!- off. He is an expert! tee-hee!!
But in spite of that distraction, we cooked some really good food. I made a loaf of Hawaiian bread in the machine, then filled it with a cheese and fake bacon dip which went into the oven. We dipped frozen pineapple chunks in chocolate, a sweet pineapple dip with nilla wafers, and Dole Whip. Caitlyn made a really delicious pineapple salad- it was spring mix with pecans, pineapple bits, and fake bacon with a pineapple vinaigrette. My favorite part was the Hawaiian fried rice. Basic fried rice but with red pepper, pineapple, and fresh ginger. Drinks were pina coladas and blue Hawaiians. Yum!!!
We watched Moana and the guys even wore "beachy" shirts which were a fun surprise!

Today is the cleanup. The kitchen is a mess!! :fear: We cleaned as we cooked but there were still a lot of dishes.
I also have to vacuum before we put the AC on or I will trip the circuits. Gary is melting the heat and I am throwing blankets on. SMH!

I haven't done gratitudes in a bit so here we go!
-family shenanigans
-sunshine
-making good memories in sprite of the crud happening around us

Trudy- it is such a good way to put it, Groundhog Day. I kept thinking that yesterday was Saturday. As if it matters!
So pleased that you had such a nice time with the ILs and your DH and I am even happy that you enjoyed your steak :) That would be awesome if FIL won the lottery!! *fingers and toes crossed* Caitlyn and I were joking how we wished that could happen. Both kids are so incredibly stressed about finances and jobs and school/student loans.
I must have missed it, the Post lost Isaac's card? Oh no!
Are you and your Gary doing anything when he is on vacation? Hopefully, things in your area will continue to improve. Sadly, it is not happening here.

have to take the dogs out, BRB!

Nancy- Ahhhhh!!! That is horrible about your DH waking up. Ahhhhhh!!!! Other than that, he did OK? Whew, that good that you were able to go to DS/MGs instead of sitting in the parking lot. I am going to have to do that tomorrow when I take 2 of the dogs to the vet bt that isn't as long as what you would have to have done.
Yay for your town doing some good things for the businesses and townspeople. There isn't much like that up here but then we don't have many businesses to begin with. We got notice that there are three new cases here in the last 2 days. We had gone weeks without a new one.we are keeping a very close eye.
Oh my goodness that is terrible and scary about your family. I hope that everyone who has been exposed doesn't get it and that your SIL and her DH continue to improve and get healthy.

Felis- If we are in the Matrix how do we make it better?? hahaha! Great news about your sister! I am happy for her too. I hope that your dreams get better. I have been having some weird ones again-- many of them about going somewhere and not having a mask.
That breaks my heart that someone would steal your dogs. How awful and sad. People can be so rotten.

I have to post this now, my computer is acting strange again xoxoxo

A real quick in and out. Heading to the base to get Rx and go to the commissary. Want to get there early and hopefully will be back home around noon. The temps have been in the high 90's {98-99] every day this past week... and into next week. Just too hot to be out and about. DD#1 volunteered to meet me at my house and help unload the groceries. The back is improving but not quite normal yet. Don't want to over-do by carrying heavy sacks.

Morning ladies... well I am sorry I never got back here to catch up with the rest of you yesterday :sorry: You know how it goes, one thing after another would distract me and off I would go in another direction, wandering around the house from room to room like some kind of zombie and not really getting anything done. I slept in until almost 8 o'clock this morning, but then I tossed and turned most of the night and felt like I was in and out of sleep most of the time. Ugh I hate that when that happens! So today I will try to be more focused and actually accomplish a few things today. Not sure about my hike tomorrow as the forecast is calling for rain all day, but we will see what it looks like in the morning before I make my decision about going or not. Still have to finish Hunter's birthday card, got some of it done yesterday, but then got distracted again and never got back to it. I am expecting a face time from Heather and boys this morning, so I might have to hurry out of here soon.

Chris - Your luau sounds like it was a great time! The food all sounds so yummy, especially the pineapple salad!! :hungry: Sorry that you sliced your finger so badly though! OUCH!! Not good to have all that blood when you are trying to cook a meal LOL. I wish that you could win the lottery too, wouldn't it be wonderful to never worry about money again!! I don't think that FIL won anything or he would have phoned us right away LOL. Oh well we can dream can't we? Yes I think that the Postal service lost Isaac's card darn them anyway! I worked so hard on it too. Oh well what can I do?? Good thing that there was no money in it or anything like that! Hope you get your kitchen all cleaned up today and yes your family are all creating wonderful memories even in these trying times when so much is wrong with the world! No plans really for our summer holidays, we were supposed to fly out to be with the kids, but we are certainly not ready to hop on a plane yet and they don't want us too. Things are still way worse in Ontario then they are here in B.C.! So we will probably get lots of jobs done around here that we have been putting off and spend lots of time with the In-laws on the beach at the Lake! A different summer for sure without any of the little ones running around, but hopefully it will be just this once!

Nancy - I had to wonder about your DH waking up during his cataract surgery?? When my DH got his they never put him under and it is all done while you are awake and that is the way they do everyone here. Just some freezing of your eye and you are awake the whole time. No pain and over in a couple of minutes. DH and I saw Ford vs Ferrari and really liked it too! You are right that is way to fast for anyone to drive LOL!! Hope you don't have to wait too long for your hair appointment, mine was good and so nice to have no more grey and bouncy shorter hair again! Had to wear a mask, but that was ok, it was good to see my hairdresser again! Oh dear I sure hope that your sister and family do not get this horrible virus, but yes things are very bad in AZ!! and so many other places in the states it is sad!! We are happy that they are not opening the boarder to the states yet and hopefully they won't for quite some time. Although I have read that Banff National Park police have been handing out lots of fines to people who are sneaking into Alberta from Alaska to be on vacation there. Shame, Shame on them!!

Getting a call so gotta fly!! Be back soon! :bolt:

Quick pop in to say if you want to see any of the pics from last night, I put them into the Luau food thread :)

good afternoon - well the weather is hot and humid as it should be as it is summer. We spent the morning first at his eye doctor to confirm his eyes are doing well and they are pleased. He is now 20/20 in both eyes but needs the number 2 reading glasses. He was walking around with out his glasses and for me it is so weird. He says so too!. After the eye doctor went to doggie treat store and now Luther is happy! Then went to Walgreens to get readers. Most women's styles but he did find two that worked. Everyone was wearing masks and the stores were pretty empty so it was easy to stay 6ft apart. Today not much else going on. I will try more scrapping. Oh my oldest son called to tell me he has discovered the next set of books in my WarHammer books. He loves these books and so since he reads so slowly it gives us something to talk about. They are actually amazingly good reads. They are good vs bad with lots of grey. I thought these books when I first started would be easy reads as they are based on a game kids play but they are not that way at all. I still have to look up words. So now I am happy that I have books to read again. My baby mourning doves are thriving. So happy. I love hearing the parents cooing in the morning.

Chris your luau sounds so fun. You all always seem to make the best food. I love the idea of the pineapple salad. Seems so refreshing. You do need to be careful with knives. I will go and check out the photos. I am cracking up that you are with blankets while your DH needs the AC. That is how my boys an I are. I am cold they are hot.

Trudy sorry you were discombobulated. Tossing and turning at night is never fun. Hope today goes better. My son's present to his wife was lost in the mail for at least 2 months but it did get there so there is hope the card will arrive. Have a great call!

Kay have a great trip to the commissary. Hope you get all you need. Bummer you temps are so high. I know when I lived in AZ I could totally understand how you had to have siestas.

Felis yes I heard about the tennis players. Shame on them for not believing in science. Yes they are young and will probably be fine but lung damage no matter how slight has been done. Also they are bringing this home to elder people who are not as strong. Hope the heat is not too bad!

Gratitudes
